Hello sir. My place of birth was written incorrect during applying dv 2021. Now if I write the correct one in DS 260, it doesn’t effect to deny my visa . Thank you
June 25, 2020 at 19:53
No it should not be a problem as long as the country is unchanged.
June 25, 2020 at 19:32

June 25, 2020 at 20:21
Hi Simon
I was awarded Dv 2020. Due to restrictions was unable to move to USA. I still have time till August, keeping fingers crossed.
The recent ban by president trump, does it have impact on us.If we manage to travel before expiry date, will we be permitted in USA.
June 25, 2020 at 20:43
Your existing visa exempts you from the ban up to the expiry date.
June 27, 2020 at 04:18
If my immigrant visa Expires before the travel restrictions/bans are lifted and I request a visa extension, then will the new visa extension be considered post proclamation, and hence not let me travel to the US?
June 27, 2020 at 05:28
That is what many embassies are saying
June 25, 2020 at 19:48
Hi Brit,
Thank you for all your efforts and energy you put into to help us, complete strangers. You make the world a better place and we appreciate you more than you know.
Do you have tips on translations of the high school grades/certificate that one has to bring to the interview?
I.e., if you’ve heard of a service that translates grades and that the embassy will approve as a translation.
I know there’s millions of translation services on the web – I’m just wondering if there’s something in particular that is required for a DV case interview.
June 25, 2020 at 20:02
No I have no preferred services to recommend for translations.
June 25, 2020 at 20:56

June 25, 2020 at 22:14
Since you have plenty of time I think the best thing would be to get the passport first, then apply.
June 25, 2020 at 21:07
Hello mr Brit.
1. I cant submit my ds260 form becouse it shows a passport error much as i have tried to refill it, what should i do?
June 25, 2020 at 22:16
I don’t know – but you seem to have a clue about the error so read the instructions and any error messages shown.
June 26, 2020 at 09:15
Hello mr Brit.
Actually there are no messages displayed but just a red symbol….i have tried multiple times but it can.not take it..
Any advise is highly appreciated.
June 26, 2020 at 16:09
I can’t think what else I can say. You have some sort of error – you mentioned on passport. Look at it and think.
June 25, 2020 at 21:53
Hello. Thank you for your amazing work. Could you please answer my question?
My father won the DV 2021. Case number: EU 21 5XX
I am his son in the US with an F1 Visa. After your post about those who turn 21, I calculated my date of “aging out”. According to CSPA, I will “age out” in April 2021.
1) Will USCIS apply the CSPA laws of “aging out” in cases when a derivative(me) is doing Adjustment of status instead of Counselor processing? In other words, in order to benefit, I will need my father’s case number to be “current” in April 2021 no matter if I do Counselor Proceeding or Adjustment of Status, right?
2) Is it better to do Counselor processing with my father or Adjustment of Status here in the US? (my F1 visa expires in 2022)
Thank you!
June 25, 2020 at 22:04
1. Yes
2. Your choice. Right now people who are on AOS are protected from the ban. But what will the world look like in a few months from now? I can’t predict that.
June 25, 2020 at 22:24
Hi brother!!
I’m concerned with the CN 2021AF72*** precisely in Cote d’Ivoire. We hope that things will go well soon.
Let me give some details to make things clear more me.
Our country has 364 lucky winners for 2021Dvlottery. A number which is lower than other African countries like cameroon, ghana or Nigeria.
Here are my questions:
1- High case numbers (60***+) can be all interviewed even if they are said to be current (towards june july or august)?
2- As far as my case (2021AF 72*** with 364 lucky winners in Cote divoire) is concerned, what do you think about?
June 25, 2020 at 23:07
1. Yes – IF the region goes current. That doesn’t happen every year.
2. Your country doesn’t matter – your number is high in the region.
June 25, 2020 at 22:48
Hello Brit , my wife case is AS00085xx and our Ds 260 is ready to be submitted.
1- Should I submit it or wait.
2- Is the band effected our case,
thank you.
June 26, 2020 at 00:06
I’ll assume DV2021??
1. No need to rush.
2. Yes
June 26, 2020 at 08:26
Yes 2021
June 26, 2020 at 10:47
Hello Brit, I am an Eritrean 2021 dv lottery winner. My question is that i was imprisoned in 2014 for trying to leave the country as it it is not legal for any citizen to to do so. Could this incident disqualify me?
Thank you.
June 26, 2020 at 16:15
No

June 26, 2020 at 16:53
Honestly, if you cannot work out how to fill in your address on a form, I question whether you have the ability to move to a new country.
June 27, 2020 at 03:56

June 26, 2020 at 08:31
Dear Brit,
I have been selected for DV2020 and was waiting for the interview, which will most possibly not happen in Hungary. I read “The presidential proclamation, issued on Monday, will extend a ban on green cards issued outside the US until the end of the year” – if i reopen my case and relocate my interview to the US, would that mean I could have a chance to get the visa, as it will not be issued outside the US.
June 26, 2020 at 16:06
If you already live in the USA on a valid non immigrant status, yes you can adjust status.
June 26, 2020 at 09:27
Greetings Mr. Simons
Trust you are feeling good today.
First of all I want to thank you again for your tremendous efforts you are

I just sent you an email to your gmail account.
Looking forward to your consideration in reading it and sharing your opinion.
Thank You very much Sir,
Remain BLESSED.

Thank you very much Mr. Simon
We hope for the Best with the AILA case.

June 26, 2020 at 10:59
Good morning sir,
I’m asking this question on behalf of a family friend. His wife’s age on their marriage certificate is 28 years. She was actually in her 28th year of birth, but the wedding was done in June while her birth month is September so technically speaking, she was 27 years, 9 months and a week at the time of the marriage. Her date of birth is accurate on all documents.
1. Could this have a significant toll on their interview?
June 26, 2020 at 16:16
No
June 26, 2020 at 11:54
Dear Brit! I am the winner of dv2020, and I had the interview in April but it was canceled due to the virus situation. Do you think that there will be an exception to the proclamation, for us who are waiting for another date? Is there a set date when the embassy opens in Albania? Thank you
June 26, 2020 at 16:17
1. No exception – no. They are **trying** to ban people.
2. I don’t know.
June 26, 2020 at 13:13
Hello Simon. I am a winner of DV 2021 with case number AF54×××. I’m a student and will graduate from university in July 2021. When is the best time to submit my DS 260 in order to avoid being granted my Visa whiles still in school. I’d love to graduate before I travel
June 26, 2020 at 16:19
March.
June 26, 2020 at 14:24
Hi.
I checked lottery status several time with correct letters and numbers. But it shows ” the information entered is not valid”.
I checked it in different days. I read your blog and Faq too. Is there to I check my status ?
Regards,
Sarina
June 26, 2020 at 16:26
Some people have that problem. I have written to KCC with some proof and am waiting for their response.
June 26, 2020 at 14:48
On the website of Nepal embassy and even kcc doesn’t have any information about cancellations dv 2020 .In this case I think they will inform all after September 30.Is there is chance of extension .it is not our fault due to the corona pandemic which covers world wide and also the travel ban we all are anxiety in present situation we lost money time and mentally sick every thing we lost who is responsible for this .we don’t fell Justice .for justice they should extend dv 2020 dead line beyond the September 30.This not minor and simple things it depend upon human life .Now every dv 2020 winner guided from depression and anxiety it can lead people into the dead.so they should extend the dv 2020 time line to save there life.i am so serious for this case.any way we need your help Brit.
June 26, 2020 at 16:26
Please read my latest articles.
June 26, 2020 at 17:20
Embassy are closed ,kkc is not working as much, travel ban because of corona so this fault is not our.election can be postpone sport can postpone working Visa can be postpone exam can be spostpone everything can postpone even they postpone dv 2021 result but they can’t postpone time line of dv 2020 .Do you think there is any sense and logic.I know this is law which has mentioned in the petition.law is not costant and fixed some time it will change by the situation.law should be fair and equal to every dv winner 2020 .so you should take our painful voice to the authorize organization ,Senate ,congress representative those who can solve our problem and finally rid out from this horrible and terrible situation.thanks for your kind response really you are our God.
June 26, 2020 at 15:22
Hello, I have a spesific question about calling to the interview. For example, if everybody submitted their related documents to the KCC, and also they all current at that certain time(i.e. 6000 to 8000). Are they going to be called to the interview in order to their case number or earlier submitted will be scheduled to the interview first? Thank you.
June 26, 2020 at 16:31
Neither. The group get scheduled at various embassies with no particular discernible order.
June 26, 2020 at 20:31
sorry to asked Brit what is Curtis and Aila ? And please tell me so I can understand to joint
June 27, 2020 at 05:12
Please read my latest articles.
June 26, 2020 at 16:56
Hello, unfortunately I heard about your campaign too late. Unfortunately I can no longer register on the form. I know you have enough entries. My question now is whether my region is also represented. Is it possible for you to contact me? In this context I can also send you my case number if you wish.
June 26, 2020 at 17:31
Dear Brit I decided to join Curtis lawsuit.
Good luck to everyone(AILA and CURTIS) and to every winner.
Please remove me from the list of AILA.
June 26, 2020 at 18:30
I will join Curtis also, but you have to opt out from Aila?
June 26, 2020 at 19:43
Yes. They said what its not good to appear in both cases.
June 26, 2020 at 20:13
please @britsimon remove me also from the list of Aila if it is necessary.
Good luck everyone, let’s hope for the best from both cases!
June 27, 2020 at 13:40
@brit please
June 27, 2020 at 17:28
Relax and be patient.
I marked your case as withdrawn.
June 26, 2020 at 19:37
Hi Brit, i have a question that i can’t find answer anywhere, the 2021 dv lottery will be impacted and 3 months delayed, what would be the visa bulletin available numbers on those months?would it be current? I am asking because i am a winner and i am on a valid status in the usa and i am whiling to apply for adjustment of status, so should i wait till my case number will be available or just go ahead and apply starting August?
Thank you
June 27, 2020 at 05:07
You have to wait.
June 27, 2020 at 09:26
Hi Brit!
I hope you feel well!
It’s said that there are 55000 visas availables for DV2021 winners whereas there are more than 85000 winners for this DV lottery.
I also read a page on green card site saying that if the ban is suspended by 31 Decenber, all the interviews can be scheduled from January to the end of this programm.
My questions are:
1- Is it possible for all the winners that we are to get a visa if our interviews go well?
2- If no, what can be the criteria of disqualification (disqualifying high case number or what) in order to respect the limit of the available visas?
3- You also said that in every region, no country can extend 7% of the visas that are allocated to that region. So, if there are few winners in a country, does it mean that they all have the chance to get a visa and that it will be the contrary in a country where there are many winners?
4- For instance, the African region is said to be current. Let’s compare two winners who have high case numbers. The first in a country where there are just 100 winners and the second in a country where there are 2000 winners. The first is going to be scheduled for the interview before the second one? I don’t know if KCC takes into account the number of winners to be interviewed by each embassy.
Thank you please try to answer these questions for me??
June 27, 2020 at 17:16
1. We don’t know how many selectees there are for DV2021
2. Lower case numbers are prioritized. In some years high case numbers are not given an interview.
3. It still depends on their case number, not the country.
4. See 3
June 26, 2020 at 20:02
Hello. How are you doing? If someone has a job offer that is in another state than the one they put as their permanent address, does that matter?
June 27, 2020 at 05:09
No
June 26, 2020 at 22:25
Hi Brit,
2020AS28xxx currently in EU. I have actually not submitted my DS-260 yet. Given my high case number, I was planning to do it in March after I collected all the necessary documents, but then with the pandemic, getting all my police clearance certs took forever as I’ve worked in several countries. I do have all the documents ready now, but oh the ban & the timing!
Anyway, if I submit my DS-260 and all documents before the end of this month, and the ban is magically lifted, is there a greater than 0% chance of getting an interview in September? Or no chance at all?
Cheers!
June 27, 2020 at 05:15
Too late.
June 26, 2020 at 23:13
I completed my ds 260 so
1. Should i expect an email soon (concerning documents)
2. If they don’t send me an email should i send them the documents anyway
3 . must the documents be translated to english or should i scan the original
June 27, 2020 at 05:19
1, I don’t know
2. Wait
3. Read the instructions.
June 27, 2020 at 00:42

Are you writing a bible hahahaha
June 27, 2020 at 07:05
Hello Mr. Brit, I am selected for the dv 2021. I have read the instructions for sending the documents but there is one point that remains a little vague. I live in a French speaking country and all my documents are in French. My question is should I translate them into English before submitting them to kcc?
thank you
June 27, 2020 at 17:03
“All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations.”
June 27, 2020 at 08:06
Hi Simon,
Your advise is immensely helpful, thank you so much. My husband won the lottery and we are disappointed that our CN seems high (2021AS00027xxx). However we are very hopeful. I have a few questions please.
1. Are there any disadvantages in applying early or (advantages in submitting late)
2. Do you have a link on how to fill the employment part? Do we need to mention the respective US Code for the past work experience?
3. He is 47 years and has no degree but GCE Advanced level. He has good work experience that does well in US however Education is straightforward and we still feel safe to apply with education. Which will give us a better change in your opinion.
Thank you heaps in advance for your help. God bless!
June 27, 2020 at 17:06
1. None for applying early. Some people delay their submission to try and get a later interview.
2. I have a DS260 guide. Use the search. I don’t know what you mean by US code.
June 28, 2020 at 01:46
Thanks alot! By US Code I meant, should we mention the respective code found on Onet*Online for past experience?
June 28, 2020 at 03:18
Wow, you really think I can read minds, huh?
No you dont need that code
June 27, 2020 at 17:07
3. You list all education and work experience. The CO evaluates both of needed (but generally the education is enough).
June 27, 2020 at 08:49
Me and My family won the lottery immigration visa 2020, and within 10 months we prepared all the required documents by doing the interview at the Cairo embassy on March 11, 2020 and it was a very good interview and the consul congratulated us and gave us a congratulatory paper and said to us within two weeks the passport will be sent and There is a visa, but on March 17 we were contacted and the passport was sent to us and asked us for some additional information as administrative procedures These procedures lasted for two months and on May 20, the embassy contacted us by phone and told us that the administrative procedures were completed And they asked us to send the passports to print the visas and we sent them immediately
we took the embassy call this time seriously and accordingly I submitted my resignation to the company I work for , we sold our own car ,and sold some properties , and we prepared for travel
, and we were surprised by the new Trump’s proclamation for the second time
Then I received a call from the embassy on June 24 and telling them that they would send the passports without visas because of proclamation
My family are under very bad psychological pressure, especially my 15 years old son who dreamed of learning and living in the United States
I was hoping to send my case Before (AILA) stopping receiving cases
June 27, 2020 at 17:13
The AILA case will fight for all selectees whether they are named or not.

You list all education from about age 12 upwards.
June 27, 2020 at 10:05
Hi mr Simon
Pls I have a worry which concerns filling the ds260 and wish you help me out. I obtained two certificates from one university(institution) that is:
2012-2014 ———-Higher National diploma.
2014-2015 ———-bachelors degree.
What is the best way to fill out this information on the DS260form, given that one institution only gives space for once certificate??
June 27, 2020 at 17:17
Higher National diploma & BSc
June 27, 2020 at 11:51
Hi there,
I studied high school in an EU country and then got my bachelor’s degree in the UK, however, the high school was ‘vocational’, which I hear may sometimes be an issue. My home country does not make any difference between an ‘academic’ and ‘vocational’ high school in terms of university acceptance, though, so a high school diploma frow either type can get you into a university.
I assume that having a university degree should be satisfactory, right? (along with my high school diploma, of course)

Some COs are picky about the proof of the path of education. List it all.

June 27, 2020 at 13:36
Hi Brit,
First of all I’d like to thank you for all the info that you give in daily basis about DV-Lottery.
I am Egzon and I was chosen as a winner in the DV2020 lottery. Do you think that it is over for the chosen of the 2019 year?
Do you think that in December we could have a chance because in March they sent me an e-mail that my documents were alright and the next step is the interview. Do you think that because of the pandemic situation the winners of the DV2020 still have a chance? I am in the 32XXX number.
Thank you in advance!
June 27, 2020 at 17:27
You seem to have asked the same question over and over again.
There is a lawsuit being started. We need to waitb and see how that progresses. We also have all the embassies closed. So – wait and see.
June 27, 2020 at 14:06
Please DO NOT remove my name from the AILA lawsuit. Forget my prior comment.
June 27, 2020 at 14:43
Dear Brit,
I am currently in the US with H1b visa which is valid until Jul 2021. Which process seems relatively safer, AOS or CP? Should I extend my H1b (first renewal) before submitting DS260?
Thanks.
June 27, 2020 at 17:30
Obviously your case number is essential to answer that question.
June 30, 2020 at 11:13
Case number AS23*** for DV2021. It seems higher number.. Thank you in advance.
June 27, 2020 at 14:57
Hi Brit,
First of all, I would like to thank you for all the information you give daily on DV-Lottery.
I am Michel HAPPI and I was chosen as the winner of the DV2020 CN lottery: 2020AF00028 ***. Certainly we are going through a very difficult period considering this pandemic which is raging all over the world .. to be brief, I would like to tell you about my current situation and very annoying … I had been scheduled to pass my interview on the 22nd -04-2020 and therefore I had to do my medical check-up on 20-03-20 so a month in advance but unfortunately the pandemic the pandemic was in full spread and put everything on hold .. considering the recent decision from DONALD TRUMP I come to your high hierarchy and emblematic defender of the Dvistes to know if I could have a chance to continue my obstacle course …
My best regards

Hello Brit, my wife and i are dv 2020 winners. We have an 18 month old daughter who was included in the DS260 we sent in July, 2019. On June 15th 2020 we received the ready to schedule email. I remain optimistic that the ban will be overturned because of AILA’s lawsuit. The problem is that my wife has delivered a baby boy just this week. We want to know if it’s too late to ask KCC to unlock our DS 260? An advise on the way forward will be appreciated.
June 27, 2020 at 18:16
Write to them to unlock and add the newborn.
June 27, 2020 at 16:30
Dear Simon
I wonder whether the Embassy/Consulate has any right to issue immigrant visa ignoring the Presidential Proclamation ?
June 27, 2020 at 18:17
No
June 27, 2020 at 16:30
I am selected for DV 2021 and I filled Ds-260 form. when I filled a form regarding my previous address, since age of sixteen I lived in same country in two different cites
but on DS-260 form I did not included the last one address. is there possible to correct it?
June 27, 2020 at 18:18
Yes – you can ask KCC to unlock the form.
June 27, 2020 at 17:47
hi brit
i am a doctor and in April 22 Proclamation section2(b)(2) i think it says doctors can get a immigrant visa even in ban period. Is that true? Or what should i done for that exception applied to me?
thanks for your help, this is a great site fpr us
June 27, 2020 at 18:52
Well, it may be more focussed on people that have job offers and specific COVID related skills. But also you would still need an interview, and the embassies are closed. So – contact the embassy if you believe you have strong reason to be treated as an exceptional case and are DV2020.
June 27, 2020 at 17:52
Sir, What we should do i’m really stressed from the DV2020 situation right now..
June 27, 2020 at 18:05
Mate
Sometimes things are beyond your control and you HAVE to accept it
To talk about this is life and death and wanting not to live or die (earlier post)
This is extreme to say the least
America is NOT PAVED WITH GOLD – it is the same world we live in, Im sure where you are at is not bad at all
Don’t over dramatize this – its a privilege not a right or entitlement
June 27, 2020 at 20:55
Danny I totally agree with you..surely this thing is a privilege…
June 27, 2020 at 18:53
Breath. Remain calm and patient. Hope that the lawsuit works and that the embassies reopen.
June 27, 2020 at 18:20
Hi BritSimon,
Thanks for what you are doing here. There area lots of resources. Just one question. My wife and I are currently in Canada as an asylum seeker; we learnt my wife is a DV2021 winner. We are from Africa and her case number is 2021Af43xxx (our chargeability). Our passports are with the government; we are given an official copy of them. What do you advice us if she is called for an interview (without the passport)?
Thanks
June 27, 2020 at 18:54
I don’t know what you can do about that. Any interview for DV would not be until almost 1 year from now, so that gives you time to resolve this.
June 27, 2020 at 18:24
Hi Britsimon, my PD is 15Nov2010, and it’s already included in the July, 2020 VB. About when am I going to received my Invoice ID No.?
June 27, 2020 at 18:58
I have no idea. I only advise on DV lottery cases.
June 27, 2020 at 19:17
Hi Brit,
I wasn’t selected for the DV lottery this year but I have a question about the CN. I am for EU but my CN doesn’t start with my region. It is: 20216V5………
Why is that?
Thank you.
June 27, 2020 at 19:48
Becauise it is not a case number – its a confirmation number.
June 27, 2020 at 20:24
Hi BritSimmon!
Thank you for having answered to many questions which make things clear for us.
You’ve just said that the number of all the winners of DV2021 is unknown for the moment. But as we see some high case numbers, we can get an idea about the number of all these winners.
So my question is:
1- The case numbers are growing like for example: (00001>00002>00003>…. till AF60000)? or are some gaps between case numbers like for example: 00010> 00056> 00123>etc…?
June 27, 2020 at 20:50
There are gaps.

Hi Simon,
My question is regarding Police Certificate. The police certificates/records are not given to the applicants but are sent to embassies instead which is the normal practice in my Country. Can I send receipts to KCC as evidence that I have requested for the Police certificates to be issued ?
June 27, 2020 at 23:14
Yes. I’m sure that’s what the instructions say to do.
