Hi Simon,
Please can we send documents without receiving an e-mail from KCC (request of sending docs) ?
Regards.
August 26, 2020 at 21:20
Yes, but at the moment it would be better to wait.
August 26, 2020 at 13:34
Hi Simon. I am filling DS260, and one question is a bit confusing. In the section about my parents, there is a question – Mother’s Surnames at Birth. Are they asking my mother’s maiden surname? Or her surname at the time of my birth? I’m probably overthinking this.)) The thing, they use the word “maiden” asking about my other names, but here they use the phrase “Surnames at Birth”. That’s why it’s confusing. Can you clarify?
August 26, 2020 at 21:20
Her name when she was born.
August 27, 2020 at 21:58
Dear simon,

I am the benwficiary of following to join refugee.
My visa was issued in march 23 but since then i couldnt get any update from the embassy becouse they didnt resume routing services yet what do you advise mw to do my medical expired and my visa will expire too in sept?
Thank you for your answer
August 27, 2020 at 22:15
I only answer DV lottery case questions.
August 26, 2020 at 13:57
Dear Simon,
I tried to find the answer for my questions on the FAQ, but I didn’t find. We (my husband and me) will try the DV Lottery firstly this year and we don’t want to make mistake.
1. A couple could enter to the DV Lottery just as one entity, or could fill two Lottery form (i.e. first one fill with my husband data and me as a wife; and the second one fill with my data and my husband, as a husband)? (We’ve seen an example for the second option.)
2. If we are dual citizens (born in Hungary, live in Israel) and we have Hungarian and Israeli passport, which one should we put into the system?
Thank you very much for your blog, videos, youtube channel, etc. these gave (and will give) us a much more clearer situation about the DV Lottery. You are amazing!
August 26, 2020 at 21:21
1. One each, one per person.
2. Either passport, but be careful to list chargeability as your country of birth.
August 26, 2020 at 21:47
Thank you very much!
So, I understand correctly in your second answer that any passport can be used, but the form must (of course) be filled with 100% correct information?

Hello Sir, I have a question regarding DV 2021. I am the main applicant from Nepal and my spouce is applying with me. We have filled the DS 260 form already and waiting for additional documents notification. My spouce had been in foreign employment in UAE for 4 years and he’s returned back for more than a year. Now, my question is, do we need to submit a police clearance from UAE also or only from Nepal? If yes how do we get police clearance during this pandemic? And what if we submit police clearance from Nepal only? Please help us with this. Thanks.
August 26, 2020 at 21:22
Yes you will need police certs from other countries. So read the instructions that explain everything.

Hi SImon,
2021AF254xx – I’m ready to submit my DS260 and it is asking for my passport number. My passport expires in Jan21 and I recently renewed my passports which details I used in my DS260. I would like to know whether I need to use my new passport details on the signature page or should I use the details of the passport used to enter the lottery (but expiring soon). Thank you
August 26, 2020 at 21:24
I would use the new one. But keep proof of the old one for the submission of documents and for the interview.
August 26, 2020 at 18:25
HI simon,
I have a high school degree so the requirement to apply for ds260 is there. my question is regarding the work experience. I after I got my bachelor degree I was able to have 2 jobs :
– First Job: title: project supervisor assistant, 5 years experience, with legal papers and benefit from social services, etc. but when I joined without education requirement (its complicated really) field of study of my bachelor is irrelevant to the job. They asked for bachelor degree.
– Second, remote web developer, 4 years now, I provide services to this US company and I have only invoices I sent time to time and get payments to my local bank account. no contract or anything like that
I have a bachelor degree in IT and I intended to work as web dev in the US when I get there. so the question is should I check the box where it says this job requires 2 years of training for BOTH jobs or only the second one? Thanks!
August 26, 2020 at 21:28
Both
August 26, 2020 at 19:09
Mr Simon
I’m dv winner , the place of birth on birth cert is : Zalinge, whereas on the passport is : Zalengi
Could I face problems later ?
August 26, 2020 at 21:28
No
August 26, 2020 at 21:02
Hello Brit,
Sorry to bother you sir… but is it advisable to be prepared financially e.g the medical and visa fees as one waits for the interview?
If yes, can you help me know how much I need for the medical and visa fees?
Am from Africa, Kenya.
August 26, 2020 at 21:44
You can prepare – the FAQ lists the fees you will need.
August 27, 2020 at 10:55
Hey Lilian. I used 42k as a sole applicant and USD330 for visa interview.
August 26, 2020 at 21:05
Thank you for the videos. They have helped me understand everything more clearly and get myself ready for the interview.
Thank you once again sir.

Hello brit,
1.how likely it is for Nepal to go current in this 2021? what’s your views on this?
2. from your video, I am sure 10k is safe Case number when we compare this with the Whole Asia. Can this case number be in Risk when we look only within Nepal?
3. You said Nepal will gonna take its all quotas. Does this means Nepal may experience Current in last few month of the FY?
i hope i make sense.
Your last video cleared my numerous doubts.
August 27, 2020 at 03:58
I made my thoughts clear, now we need to wait and see.
August 27, 2020 at 04:45
Hi BritSimon,
I was selected for DV2020 and my number is just above EU50k. I completed and submitted all DS-260 Forms, and asked KCC whether those form were processed. They replied me three months ago that the forms have been processed, and that I will soon receive instructions from them to complete in order for my case to continue processing.
I have not received yet any instruction. Should I contact them again about these instructions or just wait?
Thank you.
August 27, 2020 at 21:50
You are blocked by the immigrant ban, and there is a series of lawsuits challenging the ban. Please read some of my recent articles.
August 27, 2020 at 08:38
Hi Simon!
I have some questions regarding DV lottery. I am currently in second year of Electrical Engineering, but I don’t have A level certificate because here we do a foundation year so A level is not necessary, so my high school certificate does not meet the high school requirement. What I am thinking of is, first apply for the lottery, then if I am selected, try to get an A level certificate in the time I have before interview. Will this work? Another question, if someone is assessed as “not likely to become a public charge” and given a visa, then several years later they become a public charge for whatever reason, do they get sued in court, will they revoke their visa or impose any such punishment on them?
Thanks in advance
August 27, 2020 at 21:52
1. You can apply and see if you are selected. If yes – ask again then.
2. No
August 27, 2020 at 08:58
Dear Simon,
Warm Greetings, I am one of principal selectee of DV 2021. i went through your FAQ but couldn’t find my question answer. My wife is divorcee with a daughter from previous marriage whose legal custody belongs to her father according to divorce decree, they are living in uk and are british nationals.
Daughter is turning 21 on Jan 2021 .. do we need to mention her in our DS260 & will we be disqualified if we didn’t mention her as principal applicant is not my wife?????
August 27, 2020 at 21:55
You and your wife should BOTH have listed the child in your initial entry. Not doing so means disqualification.
August 27, 2020 at 09:12
Hello Mr.Simon
Thanks a lot for the blogs you have been posting and it’s really informative.
I would like to know whether you have any information regarding whether kcc has started asking document submission for the dv 2021 cases
August 27, 2020 at 21:56
Yes they have.
August 27, 2020 at 09:50
Hello Brit,
I am in the process of collecting the requested documents as I received the email from KCC requesting the documents needed. As part of that process, I am required to collect a police certificate from the country of residence – UAE. In requesting the police certificate, they require the name of the entity to whom the certificate is addressed to. What would I mention as the entity that I am addressing the police certificate to? Thank you very much!
My case number is 2021AS48XX. Do you think this is a safe and hopeful case number?
Thank you very much!

August 27, 2020 at 12:37
Hello Simon,

My issue is.. I am a principal selectee.. and I am married to divorcee with a child whose legal custody belongs to father as per divorce decree and Both father and child are British National living now permanently in United Kingdom. The child will be turning 21 on JAN2021. What if we didn’t submit??

August 28, 2020 at 03:26
We googled and came to know that British National are not allowed for DV process.. so we didn’t add as child was british citizen.. is there any chance to add now????
August 28, 2020 at 05:25
That was silly. No, you ruined your case.
August 28, 2020 at 05:48

August 28, 2020 at 17:42
Oh my. The problem is that you left her off your initial entry. I have explained that. You will be disqualified. Please understand what I have said.
August 29, 2020 at 04:23
Does that mean I won’t be scheduled for interview????
August 29, 2020 at 14:12
You could be scheduled, then disqualified at the interview after you paid your fees, medical costs and so on.
August 27, 2020 at 13:30
M here again..i visited isreal last time..i have had the visa of 12 months only..i stayed there for 11 months..should i have to get police clearance report of 1 year stay in isreal..i already submitted application to the embassy for the police certs..but my case no. Hi Sir , I came to U.S on recently by DV2020. So I want to khow that Do I need to apply for social security card or it will come automatically to me?

August 28, 2020 at 04:32
Hi Britsimon, I have doubt in filling my name and my spouse name in DV lottery form. I have three parts in my name. Lets say X Y Z. They are all mentioned in given name section in my passport with surname/ family name section remaining empty. My wife has two names. Let’s say X Y and same as my case her both names are mentioned in given names section with surname/family name section remaining blank. Now my doubt is, how should i fill my name in DV form. What will be the correct way? Kindly need your guidance in this regard.
August 28, 2020 at 05:26
The correct legal name as shown on the passport.
August 28, 2020 at 12:57
Hi Britsimon, Thanks for your reply. However, it is not clear for me. Actually, In my passport there are two sections for name. One is called as SURANAME and other is called as GIVEN NAME. My name is like president’s name “Barack Hussein Obama” as mentioned in FAQ section. However, all these three names are mentioned in my passport in GIVEN NAME section only and “surname/familyname/lastname” section is blank. Now my question is what should i write in family name, first name and middle name sections in the DV form.
I have been applying for DV lottery since last 3 years and never got selected. Therefore, I am wondering that maybe my application is being disqualified probably due to name issue and i am not aware about it. So i want to make sure that if i am writing my name in a correct manner in DV form. Kindly need your help in this regard. Thanks a lot in advance.
August 28, 2020 at 19:58
Again, follow procedures in your country. Your passport will help.
August 28, 2020 at 06:14
Hi Brit.. I want to appreciate you for all your efforts and may God continue to bless you.
I am a DV2020 winner who was scheduled for interview already in late April but got canceled. My question is, what’s your take or thoughts of people in this predicament. If we win the case.
August 28, 2020 at 17:45
I have written several articles and created several videos on this subject. PLease check that content.
August 28, 2020 at 06:19
Hi brit
I had a question on
I was dv 2021winner i have 2 kids and married traditionally but i had previous marriage with an american citizen. I haven’t been legally divorced the previous marriage. For that matter now since i have filled said married and have kids do i have to have only a legal marriage certificate?
If so i need to get a previous divorce certificate. Pls help me what to do.
August 28, 2020 at 17:48
As you were previously married (which I assume is a legal marriage) without divorce you remain married to that person. Therefore any subsequent marriage without divorce is considered bigamy and that means the subsequent marriage cannot be considered legal.
So – you have now included your current spouse incorrectly as your spouse, and have created a mess. There is high risk of denial.
Maybe this could be sorted out by getting legally divorced and then remarrying.
August 28, 2020 at 06:39
Hello BritSimons, I received a mail from KCC requesting for civic documents which included the biographic page of our passport (that of My Family Members that I’d be travelling with as well as mine). However my finances won’t permit travelling with anyone for now, beside my family members don’t have passport. Should I send only my document?? Is that going to affect my visa application? Will I get the chance to file for a visa application later on if I can afford? Thank you.
August 28, 2020 at 17:50
You can do that yes. Email KCC to let them know your plan. You can file to bring the family later, but that is a longer, more complex, and more expensive process.
August 28, 2020 at 08:12
Hi britSimon, Thank you very much for your information about Immigrant ban lawsuit hearing update. let me ask question. I have previously won the DV lottery 2018 and I have Authenticate all my documents also a again I wine DV2021. So, I will must have Authenticate my documents again?
thank you Again.
August 28, 2020 at 19:48
That depends on the procedures in your country, so I cannot advise you, other than to say – why not just repeat the process to be sure you have no problem.
August 29, 2020 at 18:22
Thank you for response.
August 28, 2020 at 10:10
Hello mr Simon I’m from Nepal my case number is above 8000 but my question is not is this number safe. I’m handicap I cannot walk but I’m a tour operator,Youtuber and social worker in Nepal For past 8 years And I win DV 2021 my sponsor is my sister she is doctor in USA My question is will my disability effect on DV process
August 28, 2020 at 19:51
Your limitation won’t directly affect your case on medical grounds, but you will need to satisfy the CO on public charge grounds. So – I suggest you get an I-134 from your sister and make your plan clear.
August 28, 2020 at 13:28
Which law the President invoked that the government lawyers are relying in this DV Lottery law suit?
Can you play the DV 2022 if you won the DV 2021 but awaiting processing? If you cannot play, can any of your dependents play?
August 28, 2020 at 20:00
The right to block entry is in 1182(f)

August 28, 2020 at 13:40
my son s call
Dey Abdel Madjid Zakaria but during the registration in October I wrote Zakaria just the Z is just like in the passport Abdel Madjid Z is it serious?
August 28, 2020 at 21:36
Make sure it is written correctly in the DS260. That is normally accepted.
August 28, 2020 at 18:57
Hi Mr.Simon
Please let me ask you a question. I’m a DV2021 Selectie. I am preparing for AOS because I am in the United States as a legal immigrant. I found a question there. This is the “City where you were born” part of the lottery entry. At the time of entry, I wrote the name of a place in the United States that corresponds to a county. It might have been necessary to write a different place name for Town. However, this is not a false content, and is it possible to correct it in AOS documents as a mistake due to the difference in notation by country?
Or will it be rejected by mistake?
Best,
K
August 28, 2020 at 21:45
Well your place of birth was not a place in the USA, otherwise you would already be a citizen. But I think I understand what you are trying to say.
As long as the city/county are more or less the same, and clearly within a country, no problem.
August 28, 2020 at 22:08
Thank you for your response.
I was not born in the United States. In my country, the city or county is written at the beginning of the address, my address is a county, I treated it as the same as City and entered the county.
The address is county followed by town.
If I don’t have City=town, I’m afraid I’ll be disqualified. As you said is it no problem I wrote down my county there?
Also is it better to correct the City of birth to the town name when submitting AOS?
Best regards,
K
August 29, 2020 at 03:36
I answered.
August 28, 2020 at 19:02
Dear Brit,
After completing my DS-260 form I received the following message
“You do not need to submit any documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. The KCC will review your application and will notify you if any of the information you have provided is insufficient or incomplete. Your DS-260 application will be kept on file with KCC until a visa number is available for you and your case can be scheduled. When your case is scheduled, the KCC will send you an email message directing you to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) website for further instructions.
Does this mean KCC will not request for my supporting documents in order to process and schedule an interview?
August 28, 2020 at 21:43
No that is incorrect. You will need to send documents. Ask them to clarify if you want.
August 30, 2020 at 12:17
Hello Mr.Britsimon.
I got the same message too..how it could be incorrect ?..
why they said like that then?
till now i didn’t got the kcc email for documentation …
August 30, 2020 at 14:31
As I said. They WILL want documents in due course.
August 31, 2020 at 18:53
Mr.Simon …
Will you please verify this things ?
Why they sent this notifications then.??
and why they didn’t sent an email for supporting documents ??
so…what shall we do plz!??
2021AF10K
August 31, 2020 at 20:33
Oh my. I don’t need to verify anything – I am certain.
PATIENCE!
August 30, 2020 at 12:15
@Teru…from where region are you from….i got the same message too. Am from africa,Ethiopia
August 28, 2020 at 21:57
Hello Brit. I’ve got a question. Do you by any chance know any dv winner, who has previously had a green card and PR status which had expired like 20 years ago. The thing is my mom won dv in 1994 for FY 1995 (I suppose it was the first lottery ever). I received green card in 1996 and has been constantly living there on my own for two and a half years since my parents haven’t moved there. I came back to my country when I still was underaged 17 year-old girl and has never come back for 20 years. Now I won lottery from the third round. Would it actually be an issue for the counselor that I’ve already had a chance and hasn’t used it. In fact I was a kid all alone in foreign country. Can this be a point for refusal or AP on my behalf?
August 28, 2020 at 22:01
Actually I’ve started living there not in 1996, but in 1998. From 1996 till 1998 I’ve travelled there several times as my dad tried to arrange a little business there, but then decided to go back home
August 29, 2020 at 03:35
No problem.
August 28, 2020 at 22:20
Hello brit how are you i haven’t asked you a question in while i lost hope but when i saw your latest video i could see the light at the end of the tunnel anyways my question is if judge metha decides to extend the deadline and lift the ban will these be a final decision i read some where that it has to go to Congress then supreme Court the gov might try to appeal is the judge decision final or it jas to go through all of the above and our dv process can restart
August 29, 2020 at 03:38
A Federal court decision can be appealed by the losing side if they want. It is appealed locally in the appeal court for the region, and if that decision is appealed it might eventually get to the SC. I can’t predict any of that.
August 29, 2020 at 09:58
Brit but is it possible after judges decision it has to go to Congress then the president
August 29, 2020 at 16:38
You are confusing the process to create a new law (congress and the president) with a Federal court hearing.
August 29, 2020 at 06:35
Hi Simon
My name is Samuel Brew-Christian, I changed my name doing the dv entry so I want to find out if there will section on the ds 260 form for me indicate previous name?
August 29, 2020 at 14:15

Hey,
I want to study in America from next year, but I also want to win the DV lottery.
If I win the 2022 lottery, would I still be able to get an F1 visa since studies begin in August and even if I won the lottery the earlist I could have an interview for DV is October?
I know with the student visa I have to prove intent of returning to my home country, but I won’t know if I won the lottery until after I’ve been accepted to school.
If by chance I were to both get accepted to school as well as the win the lottery, would or could that be seen as dishonest representation for the F1 visa? Could it be harmful if I pursue the DV win too shortly after arriving on an F1 visa?
(Obviously if my studies end and I’m still on F1 I will leave and pursue work in my home country!)

It’s a lottery, not a plan.

Thank you very much for providing these information through this web page. I am one of selectee of 2021 DV lottery as principle applicant. I was living another Middle east country for 2 years and i have already obtained police certificate for that period. on the same period my wife stayed with me for 11 months. As per the documents required mail from KCC confirmed that police certificate required for a person whose staying for 12 months or more in another country. Dear Mr.Brit my question is do i need to obtain police certificate for my wife also?

Hi Brit, 1) If the judge issue a TRO by beginning of September still u think Dv 2021 interviews cannot start by October month? 2) In case if court orders to continue DV 2020 interviews even after Sep 30, will it delay DV 2021 interviews?
August 29, 2020 at 14:11
1. October interviews are scheduled in August, so we have missed that opportunity.
2. We will have to see…

Honestly, this glitch might have done you a favor. Your number is very high, you might not get a chance of getting an interview. Submitting the DS260 will make any future non immigrant application a little harder. You would be better waiting to see what happens with the pandemic, bans and so on.

Hi Brit, how are you?
I saw this response of your to someone who has AF80k as a case number.
“Honestly, this glitch might have done you a favor. Your number is very high, you might not get a chance of getting an interview. Submitting the DS260 will make any future non immigrant application a little harder. You would be better waiting to see what happens with the pandemic, bans and so on.”
My case number is AF79k, and honestly this got me worried. I mean, why would it hurt if I submitted my ds260 and documents now if I got everything ready? Because I already received the confirmation email. Do you think I screwed up? Could you please clarify on why people with high case numbers should wait to submit the ds260 if everything is ready?
Thank you

“Your number is very high, you might not get a chance of getting an interview. Submitting the DS260 will make any future non immigrant application a little harder. ”
This is it in a nutshell. Since you have submitted already, there is nothing you can do. Now you simply have to wait and see if your case number gets a chance.

Hi simon. My CN is 2021AS00006*** . I am physically staying in the USA. Is there any chance to be selected for a visa?
August 29, 2020 at 20:00
Hi Simon
If a person is inadmissible to Canada for 5 years will this affect their visa issuance at the US embassy?
August 29, 2020 at 20:30
No
August 29, 2020 at 20:30
Yes. Once your case goes current you could adjust status, or wait for your interview if you plan to interview in your home country.
