Hello Brit,
If your case number is very high eg 00069822, will that delay your process if even you fill the fs 260 very early .
Thank you,
September 9, 2020 at 12:48
Yes you will wait for your case to be current, no matter when you submit the ds260.
September 6, 2020 at 20:26

September 9, 2020 at 13:14
Hello Brit,
We are winners of dv2021 as a family. I have a question about dv2021.
1. Are dv2021 winners going to take their embassy interviews starting from October (next month). Or is Trump’s order to suspend immigration visa issuance apply to dv2021 winners?
2. Our case is very low number are we going to take interviews in october or november if it is below 1000 EU.
Thank you in advance for the response.
September 9, 2020 at 13:29
1. No. They will be delayed.
2. See 1
September 7, 2020 at 10:09

September 8, 2020 at 20:44

September 9, 2020 at 08:55
Hello Brit,
We are dv2021 winners as a family. You might have heard that judge ordered the trump administration to resume visa services for dv2020 winners and issue an immigrant visa the them until October. Did judge also mention dv2021 winners. I mean will dv2021 winners start to get their embassy interviews and immigrant visas from next month (October) or do we have to wait until next year according to Trump’s executive order to suspend issuing immigrant visas until December 31
Thank you in advance for your response.
Looking forward to hearing from you
September 9, 2020 at 12:03
DV2021 is not the priority right now. DV2020 have days left. DV2021 hasn’t even started yet, so be patient!
September 7, 2020 at 12:10
No one seems to be talking about the elephant in the room: even if we get our visas by the end of the month, we still can’t go to the US and activate our LPR status until Trump’s proclamation is lifted. If he gets re-elected, which is a very likely scenario, he will most probably extend the ban again.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to fight with everything I’ve got to get that visa before the deadline. But I’m afraid we will experience a nerve wrecking period after that, that will end in tears.
Just saying.
September 7, 2020 at 12:59
Keep for yourself this negatives predictions. We are looking for positive energies and hopes in Brit’s blog and not pesimistic predictions. Thank you for your understanding.
Just saying too.
September 7, 2020 at 18:57
Thats exactly what I was thinking
Well observed Seamus
September 7, 2020 at 19:45
Simon please correct me if I’m wrong
even if the ban is extended after 31.12 and 6 months have passed since the visa was issued ( let say that visa is issued on 30 sep 2020), the embassy will have to extend it again because of this verdict that has now been passed, more precisely it will always be able to initiate a new lawsuit and be summoned to these decisions from the present judgment.
Just been proved in this judgment that any proclamation cannot prohibit issue or reissue visa
September 8, 2020 at 20:23
your point would only be correct if the year is extended. Reissuance outside of that would not be permitted.
September 8, 2020 at 20:42
I disagree that trump getting re-elected is very unlikely. Actually the chances are about 70-30 against that.
However, it could happen, and then he would screw everything up even more. But as you say, for now we fight. Its not really an elephant, but sometimes that’s life.
September 9, 2020 at 14:50
In my wiew , you are 100% right.
September 7, 2020 at 12:44
@Seamus, when u talk of his re-election, I fell like calling u certain dirty names but unfortunately this isnt my personal platform. We must be optimistic regardless of what! This guy has messed up everything. Nothing on earth reigns forever…….
All shall be well.
September 8, 2020 at 20:38
@emma. No one hopes for trump to lose more than I, but there is no need to be rude to each other for voicing opinions.
September 7, 2020 at 13:46
Hi Simon,
Iam from South Sudan, AF97XX, dv-2021
In my DS-260, my interview post is Khartoum. will affect me to conduct my interview there although Sudan has ban issue?
i would be happy if you revert back to me.

Too vague.
September 7, 2020 at 14:29
Hi members…. If I may ask good people from Kenya if Kuna process imeanza like medical au interview
September 7, 2020 at 19:44
Hello Simon,
Thank you for all the help so far, you’ve been our main source of information since all of this mess started.
My husband and I are named plaintiffs (group 3) from the Curtis Morrison case, but we live in one of the Schengen countries and so far it seems that the prospects of our interview being scheduled don’t look too good due to the Schengen ban. Tomorrow we are planning to call our embassy, do you think in addition to citing the order, can we make an argument that being among the named plaintiffs, we qualify as “emergency cases”?
Thank you,
Karolina

Hello Brit, I’m a 2020 DV winner and my case number is 2020AF4*** from Sierra Leone. I did my interview with my family in February and we were placed on AP bcoz my daughter’s medical ha an issue (interstitial lung markings but no sign of PTB). The CO asked me to take insurance for my daughter and the following day the embassy closed. Our medicals have now expired. The embassy is still closed, what should I do please?
September 8, 2020 at 20:21
the embassy will be working on urgent cases. Read my latest articles.
September 7, 2020 at 20:49
Hey Brit! Thanks for all the help!
I am a EU4k DV2021 winner, and I have received the email requesting the scanned docs.
I have an issue – My wife and I have changed our address of residence which was stated in the ds260 to my previous address (it’s my parents place – I stated this address in the ds260 as previous address).
Consequently, all our docs (police and birth certs) will contain my previous address as our address of residence – contradicting what I stated in the ds260.
Do you think this will be a problem? Should I change my residence back to the one I stated in the ds260 and submit the docs then?
Thanks!

September 8, 2020 at 04:35
Hi Simon..
I hope you are doing well and thank you for what you do.
I have a question. Ok my question is, it was asking me to put those adresses where i lived before getting married. So do i have to prove or show any documentation like where i lived before getting married and do i have to show or prove when i started living at the new address or do i have to just type in the answer.
I really appreciate your answer..
September 8, 2020 at 19:53

I got a message from one of the clinics that do the medicals, saying that the US consulate gave them green light to schedule appointments for DV applicants before they have a confirmed interview at the consulate. It seems they are laying the ground for handling cases quickly.

Simon,
Thanks for your blog. I have answered your survey and already subscribed to your YT channel as well. I was chosen in the DV2021 lottery for further processing and I am filling my husband’s application now. I’ve got a question: My husband is from Canada, We got selected through my country of origin. The section on the application that requests about previous visas asks if you have ever had been issued a visa, my husband had a I-797A Notice of Action because he was an H4 bearer. This document reads at the bottom “This is not a visa nor may it be used in place of a visa” and canadian citizens do not need visas. Should I write then “NO”? I wouldn’t like him to get in trouble? What do you think?
September 9, 2020 at 12:27
Answer yes – they can decide whether its important or not.
September 8, 2020 at 19:27
Dear Brit , thank you for your great support. I have questions as bellow:
1. My case is medical hold case and my report was expired, for get new medical, it takes another two month, so is there any process for medical waiver?
2. My main sponsor is under us proverty guidelines, so I want to add another sponsor as joint sponsor. Could you suggest me to how to make joint sponsor document?
3. I got email from Gomez vs trump, but due to medical report delay, I can’t finish the interview before 30th Sept. If embassy will give the interview date. So I want to join the another law suits DV 3. Could I join this law suit?
September 9, 2020 at 12:26
1. No
2. The first sponsor is useless to you. Get a new one.
3. Yes, or just wait for the outcome. Your choice.
September 8, 2020 at 19:47
Hell Mr brit, I received this email can you tell me what it means.
Dear DV-2020 Selectee:
You are receiving this email from counsel in Gomez v. Trump because you responded to a call for plaintiffs from BritSimonSays.com or contacted us directly as a DV-2020 selectee and/or an individual acting on their behalf. If you are already represented by an attorney in the Mohammed v. Pompeo, Fonjong v. Trump, or Aker v. Trump lawsuits, please contact your attorney regarding next steps.
DV-2020 Selectees may now pursue their Diversity visas at their local consulates immediately. We recommend that you request an emergency visa appointment and ask to be treated as “mission critical.”
This is because on Friday, September 4, 2020, a federal court GRANTED our request for a preliminary injunction and blocked the State Department from refusing to process DV-2020 visa applications because of the April and June Presidential Proclamations. YOU DO NOT NEED TO JOIN A NEW LAWSUIT OR PAY AN ATTORNEY TO GET THE BENEFIT OF THE COURT’S ORDER. A copy of the Court’s order is available here.
If you are denied a “mission critical” emergency appointment or do not receive a timely response, please let us know immediately by filling out this form. We will be reporting back to the Court what is happening at the consulates on a regular basis, and we will seek further relief from the Court if Diversity Visa winners are unable to receive their visas by the September 30 deadline.
Thank you and good luck,
The Gomez v Trump Team
September 8, 2020 at 20:23
Dear Simon,
Thank you for the tremendous work you are doing, your blog is an amazing resource that makes our lives easier.
Please help me to answer the following questions, I am confused.
1) I have studied in 4 schools in total (Let’s call them School A, B, C, D)
First, in secondary school A for grade 1-5, then transferred to specialized secondary school B grade 6. Later transferred and graduated from School C for high school in my home country. Then attended high School D in the USA for 1 year through an exchange program (received a certificate of attendance). Should I mention all 4 schools in my DS 260?
2) I attended 3 Universities. (UNI X, Y, Z)
Started at University X, then transferred to University Y and received a Bachelor’s degree.
Received my Master’s degree from University Z.
Should I mention 7 to the question “Number of Educational Institutions Attended”.
3)In CIS countries, we usually have surname, given name, and patronymic (Father’s name). Should I include my patronymic anywhere in personal information section? My patronymic does not appear on my international passport.
Thank you in advance,
September 9, 2020 at 12:21
1&2 – list them all, at least from age 12 upwards.
3. Match the passport
September 8, 2020 at 21:16
Hi Brit,
Thanks for your unmatched support.
I have a concern on one of DS260
Questions.
“Are u a graduate of foreign medical school & seeking to provide medical services in US, but you have not finished the needed US equivalent test for the same?”
My wife is the main applicants, physiotherapist who intended to work in US in the same field.
We answered “No” as we thought that this is a tricky one trying to explore if u have the intent to skip the roles & practice without finishing the needed test while we mentioned clearly she is looking to work in a Medical profession for the question asking for your future work plan in US
Shall we change our answer to “Yes” if we were overthinking the above mentioned question?
Appreciate ur feedback
September 9, 2020 at 12:17
Your answer should have been yes. Because that was the truth! Correct it.
September 8, 2020 at 21:37

Hi Brit, good to having you back. I have a question tho since I’m a bit confused with everything..I didn’t sign up for any of the previous lawsuits, and I’m planning on going with dv2020 3.0 lawsuit since I belong to group 5 with documents not processed and my cn is 2020eu45xxx. Since I’m in the usa on my b1/b2 visa for the last 3 weeks, what would you advise me to do? I’d like to stay in the states and do the aos if possible..Thank you in advance.
September 9, 2020 at 12:15
You can’t do AOS now, its too late and there would be technical difficulties. An extension is your only hope, and you can pay to join or hope the extension comes for all – your choice.

Hello simon,
thank you for your continues help to us. I am a dv2020 winner. I had filled your form to be plaintiff in Gomez case. Now after judge’s judgement on the case I received an email from Gomez team saying you don’t need to join any other cases or pay any attorney to get the benefit of the judgement. should i believe that i am taken as a plaintiff in Gomez vs Trump case ?
thanks

You are not a named plaintiff – but their point is that all can be helped. Read this:

Hi Brit. I’ve called our Embassy and they’ve told me what other Embassies around the world have been instructing DV2020 which is, they are awaiting further guidance from the Visa Office in the United States. I also asked the person to whom i was speaking to over the phone if it is okay for us to get our medical done now while waiting and he said that it is better we wait for the Visa Office’s guidance.
Due to the time urgency, do you think it is wise we wait on their instructions or get our medical done now?
*I’m in your Group 3 btw

Book the medical – because the physicians will be busy. At the same time be contacting the embassy – but read this:

The United States Embassy in Monrovia remains unable to resume routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services at this time. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date. Please see these notices which contain detailed information about the current status of visa services worldwide and visa restrictions

Hi Brit,
Could you please advise us what does it mean for people like us .
Should we go ahead with the interview.
We are currently residing in the UK and our scheduled interview was cancelled.
“Thus, while DV applicants subject to a regional COVID Proclamation (Brazil, Ireland, UK, Schengen Zone countries, Iran, and China) may be interviewed and processed, applicants who have been physically present in the affected region during the preceding 14-day period will not be issued an immigrant visa, unless excepted under the relevant proclamation or until they have been outside the affected region for 14 days.”
Many thanks ?

Hi Brit, welcome hope you enjoyed your holiday well? I saw this from the latest updates on the Department of State website
“Although DV-2020 applicants may be issued an immigrant visa under this court order, Presidential Proclamation 10014, which suspends entry into the United States of certain immigrants (to include Diversity Visa applicants) remains in effect until December 31, 2020, and can be extended by the President. Therefore, unless a DV visa recipient also meets an exception to the Proclamation, that DV visa holder will be unable to travel to the United States on the issued visa while the Proclamation is in effect.”
1- Does it mean that if we are issued a Visa (IV) before or on September 30 will not be able to travel?
2-The PP 10052 will end on 31/12/2020 and may be extended. If extended beyond March 2021 means we can’t travel.
