Simon hi
Number 55000 for diversity program is counted for principal winners or in total principal winners + their family (derivatives)
September 25, 2020 at 23:14
winners plus derivatives. Family of 4 means 55,000 – 4.

Hello Brit,
I’m a DV21 winner, CN: 10XXX
I sent my documents to KCC in june 30, today I figured that my birth certificate translation has a mistake in the birth date, should I resend all the documents again or contact KCC for what I should do?
September 25, 2020 at 23:15
Send a complete new set of documents.

Hello Simon
I would like to make an inquiry to you When i was reviewing my ds 260 and my husband’s I realized that when filling them we put that we were born in Guines, Mayabeque, Cuba but when requesting our birth registrations it says that we were born in Guines, La Habana, Cuba, because in January 2011 there was a political division administrative and La Habana became Mayabeque, my question is that if I have to request to unlock the ds-260 to correct it or if it is an insignificant error.
Thanks in advance for your attention and your help with everyone
September 25, 2020 at 23:15
Insignificant.
September 25, 2020 at 21:12
Hello Simon
I’m a DV2021 selectee (EU). I started filling the DS260.
My older son turned 21 on January 18th, 2020 (aged out on September 22nd, right?). By the question “Family Information- Children” I am not sure with the last question:
Do you have any children: YES
Does this child leave with you: NO
Is this child immigrating to the U.S. with you: NO. (I guess no as he has “aged out)
IS THIS Child immigrating to the U.S. at a LATER DATE TO JOIN YOU? (here is where I stucked)!
– I don’t know if the answer is YES, as I will try to bring him over with “Family Sponsor” later on or if the answer has to be “NO” because they mean/ask “immigrating in a few months (through DV)”.
I am not sure if I understand the question. I hope I was able to explain. I really appreciate your help.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
September 25, 2020 at 23:19
Answer no.
September 26, 2020 at 08:32
Thanks alot
September 25, 2020 at 21:30
Hi brit
Is there a chance for category 5 if there will be an extension ??
September 25, 2020 at 23:19
Yes.
September 25, 2020 at 22:12
Hi Brit, thanks for ur tremendous help to the helpless. I changed my sponsor
1) will that be a problem during my interview
2) will I be asked why that sudden change?
Thanks
September 25, 2020 at 23:21
1. No
2. Maybe – just answer.
September 26, 2020 at 00:53
Hello Brit,
I am DV2020 winner… Looking forward to have my interview soon in case of extension. My question is: if I don’t have a sponsor is there a problem? In fact, I can financially afford being in the USA at least some few months until getting a job. Is it a must to have sponsor? Also if I have a job offer, Shall this be represented in the interview?
Thanks for you support 🙂

September 26, 2020 at 01:58
hey Brit, i’m from nepal and my CN is AS8***.So, my question is.
Do we have to file a form I-944 if we are filing for AOS now? And if yes, can you please make a video on how to file the form. I am a student here in US in F1 status and I won the DV 2021, and I heard from somewhere that we’ll now have to fill up form i-944 with the form i-485, and when i looked at the i-944 form it was asking about the tax returns and my assets and all those stuff, but since i am a student here i don’t have any assets on my name, and I’m over 21 years of age. So, it would be very helpful if you could guide me as to how to fill the form. Thankyou.
September 26, 2020 at 03:58
I don’t have a guide for that yet – but yes you should complete it. However, you have months before you can file anyway – so wait.
September 26, 2020 at 05:53
Can you please make a video for that too when you get enough information on it? Thankyou
September 26, 2020 at 23:20
Don’t wait for me – forms like this are designed to be easy to complete – just do it.
September 26, 2020 at 04:18
My ex-wife won diversity visa 2015 , she submitted two forms D260 , First one for her as a principal applicant and 2nd one for me as her accompany, after that, we have divorced and even we haven’t been called for an interview . However, I came to the united state in 2020 as an international student and they didn’t ask me nothing about my previous ds260. Now, I got married with a US citizen and I am filling out I-485 through her petition. However, In I-485 Form, there is one question asking if we have ever applied for an immigrant visa to obtain permanent resident at a US Embassy or Consulate. Should I choose “yes” for this question because my ex-wife already submitted D260 form? Do KCC (Kentucky Consular Center) still have my ds260 in their Database? Because the consular in my country didn’t ask me nothing about it , is that because my ex-wife send my ds260 as accompany not principal applicant ?
September 26, 2020 at 23:19
Obviously you answer the truth – “yes”
As to what they will know, that will be less of a worry if you are truthful 100%
September 26, 2020 at 04:20
Hi brit
Do you know the lawsuit name of that lawsuit filed in California that’s somehow challenging the ban?
September 26, 2020 at 23:19
No
September 26, 2020 at 06:13
Hello Brit,
I am selected for 2020. I am EU36xxx but i am living in US more than 15 months with student visa. Should i go back in Europe for interview or can i go here in Texas anywhere ? I searched in FAQ but could not find anything. Thank you
September 26, 2020 at 23:23
I’m sure you must mean DV2021, not 2020. If you have always been in status, you can adjust status in the USA. I suggest you decide what you want to do.
September 26, 2020 at 06:17
what a relief, got my passport with visa (subject to pp10014). lucky to be in a location with not many applicants and a helpful embassy, but also on Mohammed (still wasn’t easy to get KCC to help). now waiting on 1. the election, 2. outcome of remaining lawsuits/appeals on entry ban, and and 3. declining unemployment rate (might help with 2). no question, just thanks for your help along the way BritSimon, really really amazing that you spend so much of your time helping complete strangers!
September 26, 2020 at 23:23
Thanks Chap!
September 26, 2020 at 06:41
Hi Brit, how are you?
I have a concern, I answered yes to the following question: do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with US laws?
But then I realized that was not the right answer to say yes.
I corrected this by answering no and I explained that I will have the vaccinations documentation at the time of the medical examination before the interview.
1- I would like to know if the fact that I have modified my answer from yes to no and explained could penalize me?
2- I received the e-mail requesting the documents yesterday, can I unblock my file to correct an address error before sending the documents?
3 Unlocking his ds several times could cause problems at the interview?
September 26, 2020 at 23:24
1. No problem.
2. Yes
3. No
September 26, 2020 at 06:53
HI MR.Brit,DV 2021 . My case no is AS 13,000. DO you think it is safe even if interviews start on January? When can I expect an interview?
September 26, 2020 at 23:25
You will have to wait and see, the election could change things massively.
September 26, 2020 at 07:34
Hi Simon,
Hope you are keeping well and safe.
Thank you for the video, it was helpful!
With regards to my Daughter, does she need a Passport for me to apply or does she only need one once we are accepted? She is 10 years old. I am from South Africa.
September 26, 2020 at 23:25
She would need a passport if selected. Not for the entry as she is a derivative.
September 26, 2020 at 07:46
HI BRIT
My Interview was on Sept 17, however my Medicals was not ready so after my interview I checked CEAC the update was REFUSED which is normal from your previous videos.
Now on Sept 24 I submitted my medicals to the embassy, however i checked CEAC on sept 25 It is REFUSED and the case last updated is 25-Sep-2020.
Is that normal and when should I expect my VISA
September 26, 2020 at 23:26
Patience.
September 26, 2020 at 08:06
Dear Brit,
Great news. I finally got the visa printed in my passport yesterday.
I am a plaintiff, case number above 50’000 living in the Schengen Area.
Under Annotation in my visa I find the following sentence:
Exception under PP on Risk to Labor Market
My questions
1. Does that mean that I can travel?
2. Do I need to go outside of the Schengen Area for 14 days?
Thanks a lot for your answer. You are an inspiration to me.
Best,
Martin
September 26, 2020 at 10:07
Martin, did you formally request this exception? I ask because we also requested this and we did not receive an answer and we are now waiting for visa delivery to see if we received the exception. We were told that if we receive the exception it will be annotated on the visa. To answer your first question, I would say yes, you can travel! I am not clear about if you need to leave the schengen are for 14 days first. Congratulations to you!!
September 26, 2020 at 12:11
Hello aaron,
thank you!
I did not ask for this exception, so I was totally surprised, when I saw it in my visa.
Maybe it’s because I am a student and therefore not a risk to the labor market. I don’t know. Maybe Brit can say more.
I wish you all the best. That you receive an exception too or the ban will be lifted soon.
September 26, 2020 at 18:54
Congratulations Martin.
But Brit, does this exception mean that you can ENTER the USA?
Because they didn’t print this on my visa and I’m also a student. Just a bit confused!
September 27, 2020 at 04:46
No – read my reply to Martin.
September 26, 2020 at 19:15
Hey Martin,
Are u a medical student?
September 26, 2020 at 19:16
Hey Martin ,
What is written ? “Entry subject to PP 10014”? Or what?
September 27, 2020 at 12:47
Martin, I should have been more precise. We requested a National Interest exception.
September 26, 2020 at 23:27
The only exception was supposed to be for people that had a visa prior to April 23 (re-issued).
I think the wording of the annotation is very unclear, but I suggest you ask the embassy to clarify.
September 26, 2020 at 23:29
By the way – it would not be a total surprise if embassies are confused and same for the customs and border patrol officers. They normally assume that a visa allows entry. SO – even if the ban applies, I suspect some people will find themselves able to enter. It’s just that disorganized.
September 26, 2020 at 08:11
Hi Brit,
Hope you are doing well. I have nit heard back from KCC yet and am real worried about this. I heard people saying that Sep 30 is the last date to hear back from them. Also, i am a DV 2021 winner and wanted to know can i apply for DV 2022 or not? My case number is 2021AS6XXX. Please let me know as i am very much worried. Thank you
September 26, 2020 at 12:22
The coming September 30 is the deadline for DV2020 winners. You have until September 30, 2022 to receive your Visa.
September 27, 2020 at 12:01
If you were previously issued a visa for the DV-2020 program that was valid on April 23 and that visa expired before you were able to travel to the United States, please contact the Embassy or Consulate where your visa was issued for further information.
All DV-2020 entrants who were selected must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by September 30, 2020. This deadline cannot be extended. This same strict deadline also applies to spouses and children of principal applicants.
All DV-2021 diversity visa program applicants must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by the end of fiscal year 2021 (September 30, 2021).
September 26, 2020 at 23:30
People are talking about September 30 2020 as a deadline for DV2020, not DV2021.
You just need some patience, but in the meantime, you can apply for DV2022
September 26, 2020 at 08:26
Hi Mr. britmon
I’d like to ask about applying DV 2022
My passport is going to be expired around may next years of 2021 and i’ve on my way to renewing a new passport *i assume will be a new passport number as well .
My question is can i still use my old passport which is going to be expired may 2021 ? Is it will be any issues further if i won the DV 2022 ?
September 26, 2020 at 23:30
No problem.
September 26, 2020 at 08:41
Hi Brit, I hope you are doing well.
I had unlocked my ds260 on September 23, 2020 and then resubmitted the same day.
Today I noticed another error.
1- I would like to know if I can ask the KCC to unblock my file again?
2- it will be 5 times that I unblock my file for modifications, do you think that this could affect the treatment of my file? (My case number is 2021AF19XXX)
3- The fact that I unblocked my file many times could pose a problem with the CO ?
Thanks Brit
September 26, 2020 at 23:31
1. Yes
2. No problem.
3. No
September 26, 2020 at 08:54
hello simon, are there anyone from Africa who has received 2NL? It’s like we were left out.
I received a ready for scheduling message on 27/02/2020, my case number is 2020AF303xx which seems a low case up to date nothing has happened, interviewed meant to at us embassy nairobi kenya with fewer cases. So are there any from this region who has received 2nl?
September 26, 2020 at 23:32
Plenty of people got 2NLs from AF region.
However, you now need to see if the extension is granted.
September 26, 2020 at 10:09
Simon!!! Guess what!!!!!!
Visa was approved yesterday and I 100% wouldn’t have been able to do it without you and britsimonsays.com as a whole.
I was in group 4 and I wasn’t a plaintiff in any lawsuit. AS23xxx.
I will share my interview experience soon. (It was kind of nerve-racking but all the posts and comments I read on your website were what saved my situation)
Waiting for my passport now :)) and the pp10014 to end.
1. Do you think it will be removed? Or are the lawyers trying to suspend it?
————————————————————
I don’t think “thank you” will ever be enough for what you’ve been doing to help all people in this journey. Answering all our questions even when they’ve been asked a gazillion times. Keeping us up to date. Fighting for us.
This goodness you have is the religion people should adopt. I wish there were more people like you.
God Bless you ♥️
September 26, 2020 at 23:36
Very happy to hear this! Congrats and good luck!
Not sure about 10014 – “wait and see”
September 26, 2020 at 10:26
hello Simon, am a dv 2020 winner case number 2020634xxxx could you please be in position to know the total number of visas denied as of now?
September 26, 2020 at 23:36
What is the point of knowing that?
September 26, 2020 at 12:04
Hi Brit thanks fr all ur efforts.im a dv 2021 winner with a case no of AS13000. Do you think it is a safe no? With interviews starting on january which month i can expect a call for an interview?
September 26, 2020 at 23:37
Wait and see. Too many factors to be able to predict.
September 27, 2020 at 00:09
Thanks Brit.. even I ddnt gv a clear answer to my question, I really feel grateful fr ur service .. u are d DV guru.. I know there are other channels as well bt I again as u always cover more than our expectation, never felt any need to check them…may gud bless u

September 26, 2020 at 13:36
Hi Dear Brit,
I am one of the Mohammed’s plaintiff and I have now my visa printed on my passport.
I would like to know if on Monday 28th judge Mehta will discuss also about a possible TRO on pp10014, do you know something about that? I heard that there is also another lawsuit at 9th circuit with Judge White About a possible TRO. What do you think?
I am from Schengen Area so if one of these judge will give this TRO I’m afraid to not have the time to leave for 14 days and enter in USA because gov could appeal that before.
Let me know if you know something else about that or if I am wrong and no one is fighting for that TRO .
Thanks
September 26, 2020 at 23:50
No a TRO to stop the ban is not being discussed on Monday.
September 26, 2020 at 14:28
I am a DV2020 applicant who got a notification for interview for 28th but none of the designated hospitals can process my medical by the end of the month.. I need your urgent advice. what are the implications on Non immigrant visas if I am placed on AP or temporary refusal (due to lack of medical) and then do not get resolved due to judge mehta not extending the deadline??!? If Judge Mehta does not extend the deadline, could I have this case hanging to prevent me from getting non immigrant visas due to dual intent? thank you i need your answer urgently Thank you
September 26, 2020 at 23:52
The implications for future non immigrant visa applicants were in effect the day you filed your DS260. That is a factor for those applications, but not a complete blocker.
However, I am feeling confident about the extension.
September 26, 2020 at 17:11
Hi Simon
thank you for your last video
I just want to tell you that kcc they start to answer about the documents if have been received or not by phone call
thank you for your effort
September 26, 2020 at 17:42
Why is there different annotations in visas
eg-
*Exception under PP on Risk to Labor Market (I saw this in someone comment)
*Subject to pp 10014
And I just like to know incase they extend the immigration ban after december is there anything we can do legally
September 27, 2020 at 04:44
We will have to see about that if it happens.
September 26, 2020 at 18:18
Hi brit! The documents require and apostille? I had make it just in case but is is another pdf. In this case when i send the docs to kcc how must be named the pdf file of the apostille?
September 27, 2020 at 04:44
Depends on local instructions. Read the instructions
September 26, 2020 at 19:05
Hi brit
What is the name of the lawsuit currently challenging the ban?
September 26, 2020 at 21:31
Kennedy vs Trump, but it doesnt challenge the ban, it fight for the extension after the september 30.
September 26, 2020 at 22:01
Thanks Stephane I’m well aware of the K v T lawsuit but there is actually a lawsuit fought in California which challenges the ban and idk the name of that lawsuit.
September 27, 2020 at 00:08
I think it is National Association of Manufacturers v DHS (Judge White presiding).
September 26, 2020 at 20:25
Regarding foreign police documents: “any previous country or countries of residence if residing there for more than 12 months”
Would I need to get police documents from a country I lived in for 7 months, but also traveled for 3 months + 2 months + 2 months. (more than 12 months in total, but over a decade or so)
September 27, 2020 at 04:50
To be safe – get it.
September 26, 2020 at 20:34
Hi Britsimon
Greetings
I want thank you for your work.you are a nice person.God will continue to guide you.I am a DV 2020 winer.i played with my son(9years).we had our interview on the 16th of September and we were asked to go for medicals. The hospital called today telling me that my son’s medical exam had a problem That I should come with him on Monday for and x-ray.that same Monday we were asked to come for our results.
The doctor said my son’s results will be given on the 30th which happens to be last day.my question is
1.can I take my own first to the embassy while we are waiting for his own?
2.is handing my son’s result on 30 a problem to him.or can it affect him in any way?
September 27, 2020 at 04:52
1. Yes
2. It could be a problem, yes. Get your visa issued if possible. There might be an extension anyway, but if not, you can sponsor him later.
September 26, 2020 at 23:03
Hi i filled my ds 260 for dv 2021 and that of my wife and 2 kids who i named in the entry. I have a step son who is an American and i realised i answered yes to the question, is this child immigrating with you? Is this injurous my case?
September 27, 2020 at 04:57
No
September 26, 2020 at 23:13
Hi BritSimon
Thank you very much for your kind help and guide.
I am 2021 dv lottery winner. I watched your you tube video today concerning (How to make sure you have sent the documents correctly). I have sent my supporting documents with the following format.
****edited out all your personal info***
This is how i sent them because i provided 3 different police certificates from different countries so i added the names of the countries in each police certificate and mistakenly added my high school certificate which was not requested and i will like to know if it will create any negative impact on my case, though i followed the instructions in the email.
Thank you
September 27, 2020 at 05:00
No problem.
September 26, 2020 at 23:43
Hi brit,
Once there will be an extension for DV 2020 ,will the kcc proceed in scheduling interviews by following the order of selectee or just they do this randomly for those whose numbers are not precisely shown in visa bulletin of June 2020 (current) ?
Regards,
September 27, 2020 at 05:02
We don’t know.
September 26, 2020 at 23:52
Hi Britsimon,
my case was previously approved but was not issued because of Proclamation now i have submitted new medical and police report .it has been already 2 weeks but the case hasn’t moved from AP .When i asked about about any missing documents and reason for delay of issuance they say everything is fine and doesn’t want to talk and don’t issue visa. we have just couple of days left so i am being very impatience.
what could be the reason, technically there is no any reason to review because my case was previously approved without any extra document requested and only left was to issue visa, Thank you.
September 27, 2020 at 05:03
You just have to be patient.
September 27, 2020 at 00:53
is it possible that Trump can renew the ban and is it expected?
September 27, 2020 at 05:06
It’s possible. Wait and see.
September 27, 2020 at 02:04
Hi @BritSimon. My spouse, child & I came to USA in August 2019 on F1 & F2 visas. On June 6th 2020, he became a selectee of the DV 2021. While filling the DS-260, he selected “change of status” since we are already in the USA legally. Confirmation of submission were send to all the three of us explaining the next steps which involved contacting the local USCIS Field office for further information about booking an appointment. Do we need to wait until October 1st or January as per the Executive Order?
September 27, 2020 at 05:07
You have to wait until your number is actually current.
September 27, 2020 at 02:11
Hello Brit
Thank you for always advising us.
What happens if you leave your wife and children from the entry application. Let’s say you go through and acquire the visa as a single person. Then you become a citizen after 5 years. As a citizen, can the person now apply for the wife and children he left out of the green card application?
September 27, 2020 at 05:08
That can end in deportation.
September 27, 2020 at 04:16
Hi BritSimon!
what kind of problem that the presidential election can bring to affect the progress of DV 2021. I have seen it as one of the factors but I can’t catch up it from the video.
Thank you!
September 27, 2020 at 05:10
Different scenarios depending on who wins.
September 27, 2020 at 04:49
Hello,
So I got selected for the DV-2021. My issue is that I was studying in china 4 years ago, and know it is nearly impossible to get police certificate from china. I am kinda lost right know because I dont know how to get this certificate. Can you help me please? Thank you.
September 27, 2020 at 05:12
What do the instructions say for China?
September 27, 2020 at 17:13
I did not specific instructions for China, I really need your advice in how to handle my case, thank you for everything you doing.
September 27, 2020 at 05:31
Greeting Mr simon I am thankful for all the good things u are doing for all dv winners and I’m dv 2020 winner CN AF 34k and I am group 4 if we get extension can I expect that I will be interviewed sir
September 27, 2020 at 14:30
Wait and see the terms of the extension if we get one.
September 27, 2020 at 05:42
Goodnight:
I am writing to you because I need help with an URGENT visa lottery. I am Cuban and I won the 2020 visa lottery, I came to live in Argentina and requested the interview here at the Buenos Aires embassy. Yesterday, Friday the 26th, I received an email from the KCC with the notification that was to be presented to me on Monday the 28th at 8am at the Buenos Aires embassy for the diversity visa interview. I prepared all my documentation and a trip of approximately 6 hours to get to Buenos Aires because I do not live in that province.
Today I received another email, this time from the United States Embassy in Buenos Aires telling me that they were sorry but my appointment had been canceled because they did not have interviews available for the remaining days of September and that they did not they could do anything to give me an appointment.
I am writing to you because I don’t know what to do. I do not know if I can make a claim to the embassy for the cancellation of my appointment. If they have the right to do that once the KCC notified me that I had the interview scheduled.
I need your help and advice to know what to do in this case.
I hope you can help me. Thank you so much.
urgent

This is something else that we should make clear to the judge. It will be further evidence to argue for the extension, and if we get the extension you will have a good chance to get rescheduled after September 30.
Please send me an email with your personal details such as case number and name along with this story. I will get that to the lawyers and make sure it is presented as further evidence of what the government have done.

If I were you I’d show up anyway and pretend you didn’t know your interview was canceled. Not saying you should lie telling them you didn’t know. I am just telling you be at your appointment as you originally were scheduled, be confident and just in case they insist on not letting you have your interview only in such case leave but not leaving before even trying to ask them to see if someone else scheduled didn’t show up so could take their spot. Be courteous but firm and pushy reminding them the fact that judge ordered embassies to do their best “good faith” efforts to review the most cases possible before September 30th. I had my interview last week in another country of south america and we were told about our interviews in less than 24 hours before. As I suspected many didn’t show up because I saw few people attending and according to my guesses of cases ready there should have been more then the ones I saw at the embassy that day. Everything was crazy for us that were able to attend but we are happy we were approved and everything happened so fast we never imagined in a couple cases of days we got our visas when everything seemed to be lost for us. I was on group 4 by the way and I am not a named plaintiff by the way.

HI Brit,
Thanks for all your the effort you are putting in to guide and support dv selectees.
From Cameroon, my brother who is in group 4 got his 2NL a couple of days ago
and has been scheduled for interview on the 28th.
He has a family of 5, and his first daughter turned 21 in May. While checking the visa
application status on the CEAC website, I noticed it shows “ready” for four cases number 1,2,4 and 5, leaving out 3
On the 2NL, the 3rd name is that of the daughter who just turned 21 in May. Does it mean she won’t be able to get a visa? Do you think there will be a consideration for her since she has exceeded the cut off age by just 4 months?
Thanks for your kind response

It is extremely important that your brother reads, understands and acts on the attached article. He should print out the CSPA information because the CO may not understand the rules and may not know how to apply it. He should go with the daughter and be fully prepared on this subject.

I used the same photo for two years(2020-2021), the first year I didn’t win but now I won & I’m very concerned about my case knowing that what I did is unlawful, am I at risk of denial the day of the interview? (I meet all the requirements)

That rule has been in place for some time. Up to now I have not seen ANY denials based on the new rule.

Brit , what do you think about that? If the judge White will give a TRO this could benefit also us (dv lottery with visa printed )?

Maybe. Uphill struggle for that case though.

Hello Simon, hope all is well with you. Thanks for the videos you’ve been posting lately, terrific work!
Sorry for asking, but I had a bit of a hard time catching up on all that information; cn 2021 EU 37k here, still holding off on submitting DS-260.
What would you recommend as the best plan of action ?

Still no need to rush. Wait for a while. Check how we stand in Jan/Feb

Hi Simon,
Thank you for all the expertise you provided to all of us. I would like to ask you, as you know in UK We have IGCSE,AS & AL For school is this considered same for high school in US. Just need to make sure that minimum educational requirement I have. And if you have even one A level subjects is this enough to make the cut.
Thank You.

No – one UK A level would not be enough to get you into UK University, nor a US college. THat is the level required.

Good morning Brit,
My brother will have his high school education requirements by 2021 but he will only be 17 years old by 2022. Is it possible for him to enter the DV lottery 2022 as an individual and also as a derivative since he will have the education requirement? Thanks

Yes
