Hi Brit, my Australian wife was selected in the 2021 DV lottery. We’re currently in the U.S. on a work visa, and we’re hoping to adjust the status to the Green Card this year. She has a relatively high case number (around 1,800). I watched your recent video looking into the DV2021 CEAC data, and according to my calculations and looking at how case numbers have moved historically in visa bulletins, I was hopeful my wife’s number would become current at some point. But so far, the numbers have been moving so much slower than in recent years. I’m assuming this is due to the backlog caused by uncertainty and closed embassies during the pandemic. Do you have any other explanations and – speaking from your experience – do you think her number has a chance of becoming current? Thanks so much for your help. Your blog is such an incredible resource of information!
January 20, 2021 at 15:06
Yes the VB numbers are affected by the standstill on consular processing. There has been some VB movement that helps AOS cases, but the rules that govern the process say that case number order should be applied so that low numbers go first. So if you are made current before lower numbers that is bending that rule.
However, this is unprecedented. It is not possible to predict what will happen over the coming months and how they will handle the numbers. So all you can do is wait and see.

Gotcha – thanks for your reply!
January 20, 2021 at 02:53
Hi Brit,
I have received a mail from KCC after 3-4 weeks from submission of DS-260 following copy of documents.
“Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current and appointments are available. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on region and which case numbers have already been processed”
However, new baby has been born after submission of DS-260 (before submitting documents). It will take some time to get passport of new born (around 1.5 months from today), hence could not fill DS-260 of new born so far.
In FAQ for new born, i believe this is first scenario. My questions are:
1. What are the options available to include new born in DV
2. Shall it be ok if i process after getting passport of new born? Or, should i unlock DS-260 and include new born now, before passport?
3. If i include now (using parent passport), how much time i get to submit the passport
Since i have new born, my preference will be to enter US as late as possible.
Thanks in advance.
January 20, 2021 at 15:11
With your last comment about entering as late as possible, the smartest thing would be to write to KCC and unlock your DS260, informing them of the newborn and saying you prefer to delay your resubmission to get the documents. Add the child when you have the documents.
January 21, 2021 at 02:30
Hi,
I would like to know when did you sent and receive the confirmation of documents form KCC,what your case region, please ?
Thank you
FOR ME Since august i have no response from kcc
Case AF12K
January 20, 2021 at 07:44
Good morning Sir , DV2021
I think you are good especially in this historical day ,
Sir suppose the visa bulletin continues to go up and at the same time the ban will still be in place till 31 march , so reasonably the interview should start in april and because of lacking time , because of the backlog of work in kcc and because of the backlog of current cases which will be in many embassies in certain countries and because kcc knows will not be able to issue all the visas on account of the short time i would like to inquire about the following ideas :
1- could we see the winners in some countries(low number of winners) have better chance to be interviewed than the other countries (with high number of winners) if current because of the backlog of cases in these embassies based on my hypothesis ?
2- As i have read on your blog the process of many cases dont based on the order of the case number in all region ,in other way if KCC sees that the time is running out and in oder to give us as visas as it can , could KCC in a certain month because of this , put all the processed cases current even if many of them are not current before this decision?
3 – finally , because president Biden does not hate the immigrants and in general Democratic party supports immigration , dont you see this concept will help us to solve our problems through any lawsuit in the future?
Thank you Sir for your answers in advance .

That is just an automated response.
January 20, 2021 at 15:24
1. We have to wait and see. Blanket predictions are not helpful. A country may have low DV case numbers but have a serious COVID problem – so the experience could vary greatly country to country.
2. I can’t predict that.
3. In general, yes. But there are short term higher priorities that will be the focus of the new administration.
January 20, 2021 at 15:57
In the new bill on immigration Biden want to increase the dv program quota from 55k visas to 88k visas. So good news maybe for dv2023.And good news that the program will not be canceled.
January 20, 2021 at 16:28
Hi Brit
Is there a chance that this could be in place already to help high DV 2021 case numbers?
January 20, 2021 at 17:15
@dv2021. No chance.
January 20, 2021 at 17:13
Yes, I saw that. We will have to wait to see what happens with the bill.
January 20, 2021 at 18:00
Hi Simon,
I recently started a YouTube channel with my existing Google account (The Google account was disclosed on the DS260). Do I need to unlock the DS260 form for a change like this?
Thanks in advance
January 20, 2021 at 18:12
No
January 20, 2021 at 19:37
Hello Sir How Are You Doing
I still dont receive an email about sending supporting doc. Shall i contact the kcc or i must wait until they ask to do so. My case no is AF25***.
January 20, 2021 at 21:32
It’s not really a problem so far, but you could contact them if you like.
January 20, 2021 at 19:55
Hello Brit, I have revised the FAQ and did not find actual reply.
Here we are winners of DV2021. DS260 submitted on 10 July 2020, however since then no request for documents check arrived. I have issued three reminders to KCC (August, October and December) and each time they response saying that the application is in process. Our number is 23XXX.
Can you please suggest?
January 20, 2021 at 21:31
Your case number isn’t helpful without the region. What region are you?
January 20, 2021 at 21:26
Good afternoon! Hope you are doing well. I want to ask same question as before. Now everything is complicated. Trump in his style destroyed our plans. We are now studying in the USA as F-1 status holders. Collected all documents and just waiting our turn. Taking into account that USCIS is extremely busy and some of their employees were fired, can we pass interview here (AoS) with 27*** case number till October? Is there any ways to speed up or have impact on USCIS while they are processing visas including our?
You are doing great job. GOD bless you and your family! Thank you so much!
January 20, 2021 at 21:28
Europe region
January 20, 2021 at 21:45
I realize you would like me to predict, but I really can’t. There are too many factors that will affect the case numbers.
You cannot submit your I-485 until your number is announced in the VB.
January 20, 2021 at 21:37
Hi Brit,
2021EU6xxx, i and my husband have been submitting documents and received email confirmation that are okay. But later i added my newborn baby in ds form and send documents for baby passaport and birth certificate…now I receive email to send additional documents, what else should I send?
January 20, 2021 at 21:43
You need to resend the whole set of documents for all of you.
January 21, 2021 at 06:11
I have send all documents, but they still want additional documents
January 21, 2021 at 12:05
Re read what I said. RE-SEND one pack of all the documents.
January 20, 2021 at 21:40
Hi Brit
In dv2021
Do you think that due to the late start of the interviews, the non-response rate will increase?
January 20, 2021 at 21:42
Possibly.
January 20, 2021 at 23:19
Hey Brit,
I am the DV2020 visa holder, issued late September. Since December I am stuck in Mexico waiting for 10014 to be lifted. But I must return back home by February to preserve my job, as positive outcome of the ban removal and litigations are not certain. I have my tickets booked for the end of January via Houston.
Question: do you believe this valid immigrant visa can be used to transit US if the immigration ban is still in place?
January 21, 2021 at 00:09
No.
January 21, 2021 at 01:21
Hello,dear sir ,
Regarding dv2021 interviews,
Supposing that the interviews start in April and that this month my case number is current ,they will start to process by the beginning of October or directly with the visa bulletin current?
Knowing that I have sent documents since August and still no confirmation,
The only answer I have: your ds260 has been processed, but nothing more
Thank you very much for your work
January 21, 2021 at 05:26
All cases already current and processed would be interviewed within the first month or two of interviews retsrating.
January 21, 2021 at 03:59
Hi Brit ..
I am a DV2021AS winner.
My number is about AS 11 thousend .
I am originaly from a country that has been under the travel ban to the United States.
but On 1st October I got a letter asking for the documents.
I sent the documents the next day.
An electronic response came saying that all the documents would be studied, and a response would take place from 3 to 6 weeks.
So far I have not received any letter confirming that the documents are ok.
What would you advise me to do after President Biden’s decision to cancel the travel ban on these countries?
Should I wait a little while too, or ask KCC.
January 21, 2021 at 05:28
Your case number is not current yet, so there has been no reason for them to rush to get your case processed. You should remain patient.
January 21, 2021 at 04:36
Helli brit.my case number is AF202100019XXX.i submitted my ds260 form in august last year .since then i have not received an email to send supporting documents.kindly advice me about the same
January 21, 2021 at 12:03
You can contact KCC and ask them.
January 21, 2021 at 04:41
Hi Brits, am David from Tanzania and winner of DV 2020 and our country was among 13 countries on the travel ban today I heard about new presidential executive order revoking the ban. Can you explain what it means for us who we’re on the list in case you have seen the executive order. Will KCC proceed with our cases?

January 21, 2021 at 12:04
We have to wait and see whether they will start. PP10014 still blocks you – so we need that removed too.

January 21, 2021 at 05:10
Hello Brit.
The Executive Orders sign by Biden on day one, PP10014 is not among. Please what can you tell some of us DV 2020 winners to give us reason to be hopping. I read on Curtis Morrison that one of their client who is a DV 2020 has died. This is just to show how important this issues are.

Thanks

Hi Mr Simmon, please i need a clarification, i am not sure of the email i provided when entering the lottery but i wrote to KCC about that and provided the real email. I got an auto reply, is that fine or i should send again?
2- I used the correct email to ask for my DS-260 to be unlocked and they did unlocked it, does that mean that is the email they will consider now? i am afraid they will send document request to the email i am not sure of.
January 21, 2021 at 12:17
They will use the updated email.

Good evening Brit!
I was born in Saudi Arabia but I live (and will do the interview) in Athens, Greece.
My original birth certificate is in Arabic officially translated to Greek, and my Police certificate is original in Greek.
When submitting my documents by email after ds-260 is it fine to send them in Greek (since I will have my interview here), or Do i need to translate both into English?
After the DS-260, are the only documents I need to send are; (provided i never served in military, never married and no kids)
1. Birth Certificate
2. Police Certificate
3. Passport page?
Thank you so much!
January 21, 2021 at 14:05

Can muslim ban affect high case number from Nepal?
January 21, 2021 at 15:19
No. The only things that stop Nepal is the lack of interviews and the possibility that Nepal hits the 7% cap.

Hey Simon,
I am currently in the US trying to get a re-entry permit. My plan is to leave the US and return back for my biometrics appointment. I have sent my forms to USCIS and it seems that they have received them 2 days ago. But I didn’t get a notification from USCIS saying that they have received and accepted my application. My question is can I leave the US since my forms have been received by USCIS. Or do I have to wait until they contact me. Thank you for all your help.
January 21, 2021 at 19:15
From my understanding, once you submit the I-131, you have to remain in the USA until you do the biometrics.
January 21, 2021 at 16:58
Hi Brit,
Thanks for all tat you continue to do for us. Im a DV 2021 Winner with case number around 26K. I submiited by DS 260 form since July 2020 and received an automatic reply that my documents were submitted and pending review. However, I have not received further emails on request for supporting documents or interview. What should can I do now?
January 21, 2021 at 21:00
Your number is useless without the region.
January 21, 2021 at 19:01
Hello uncle Brit,
Hope you are doing well,
I have some issues and I want you to help me with,
I filled DS260 of my companions and me few months ago, And i really want to update some information relate to my kid
So what is the right safety way to update it with out make any risk for our status,
Thank you for your great helps
January 21, 2021 at 21:00
Ask KCC to unlock your DS260. It’s covered in the FAQ.
January 21, 2021 at 20:16
“Provide the following information on all of your employers from the last ten years, starting with the most recent employer.
Employment date to:”
If one still works in a company, what date to write here?
January 21, 2021 at 20:57
That would be listed in your current occupation.
January 21, 2021 at 21:54
I’m sorry, but I don’t understand… ‘most recent employer’ is the same as current employer? If answer is yes, what ‘employment date to’ to insert?
January 21, 2021 at 23:24
Put today if you are stuck.
January 22, 2021 at 08:58
Yes, because it doesn’t allow me / us to continue filing DS260.
Additional question – vaccination!
We are from Europe, we (all family) received all kind of vaccines, there are medical documents about it, but we have no clue if they are in line with U.S. laws. So, can we to this DS260 question answer “No” and then (we have to!) explain why “No”, as i wrote before?
Or, we put “Yes” and we possibly lie?
January 22, 2021 at 15:35
Put no.
January 21, 2021 at 21:30
Hi Simon,
21AS38XX
The person providing me the i-134 has sent me 2 checkstamps that shows pay (2 week period each); one is from end of Nov to Dec 2020 (2 weeks) and the other is from end of Dec to Jan 2021.
1) Condering we might see 2NLs soon, are they going to be “outdated” by the time of interview considering the person has been through hassle to get them? Or will the CO accept the above?
2) On the W2 form accessible through IRS website online, there are 10 pages with the same content to be filled however, at the end of each page there are different branches that it needs to be sent to; which page should the sponsor fill?
Regards
January 21, 2021 at 23:20
1. They will be outdated and will need to be refreshed once you get the 2NL.
2. The W2 form is completed by an employer – so I don’t understand your question.
January 21, 2021 at 22:24
Dear Brit,
I am a DV2020 winner with a visa issued in September.
While I am hopefully waiting till PP10014 to be removed I have a small question on something that may not be relevant for many DV winners at this time.
I am enrolled in a University in US and I am following the lectures online until I get to go. As there are many expenses (books, software purchasing etc.) that are uncovered by the scholarship and are difficult to be paid from the proceeds we get in our home country, am I allowed to apply for a student loan without affecting the public charge rules?
Thank you in advance. You have been a very helpful resource for us.
January 21, 2021 at 23:25
A student loan would not be considered public charge.
January 21, 2021 at 23:07
Hi Mr. BritSimon
Trust you are doing good.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss
My CN is 2021AS18XXX, I have submitted me and my family members documents on 04-12-2020, recieved an automatic email that: (Document processing generally takes 3-6 weeks. Please give us time to complete that process before sending questions about your application).
actually since then i have not recieved confirmation email.should i contact kcc?
Regards
January 21, 2021 at 23:27
Thank you.
Your case number is quite high, there is no need to chase them at this time.
January 21, 2021 at 23:10
Hi Simon , .thank you for the good work.
My case is AF599** .I know is not yet current .
1. I’m from Ghana and I want to know if is possible to know how many cases are in Ghana before me ?
January 21, 2021 at 23:28
No that is not possible. It’s also not important as processing is by region, not country.
January 21, 2021 at 23:17

Hi Brit. I have a few questions about health insurance and I-134.
Q1. What specific health insurance-related document do I need to bring to the interview? Do I print out the brochure of a plan from your recommended VisitorsCoverage website or do I need an actual quotation with my personal details?
Q2. I already have valid existing health insurance of global coverage from my local insurance service provider. I understand its coverage effectiveness would be greatly discounted when I do move to the US. But for passing the interview purpose, can I simply provide this proof or do I still need to get something based in the States?
I would like to minimize the efforts and trouble of my sponsor in gathering supporting documents of I-134, so it would be preferable to be something she can prepare or retrieve online all by herself without involving any third parties such as her bank manager or her employer. So I would like to distinguish those documents that are Must-Haves and those that are nice-to-haves.
Q3. Is a statement detailing her bank account status from the bank manager an essential document? Can she provide bank statements for previous 6 months instead?
Q4. Is a statement detailing her employment status from her employer an essential document? Is the W2 tax form (assuming it does not require my sponsor asking her employer to provide) already enough? My sponsor should be able to provide her own 1040.

1. Watch this. https://youtu.be/-5AmDVDNac4
2. That won’t meet the requirement.
3 & 4. You need the I-134, W2/1040, recent payslips, and photo ID.

Hi Brit, I have activated my visa and received GC and social sec. Now I am back in my home country (came last aug)for my child birth and baby is now a month old and
Can my husband travel To US alone prior to This aug (within one year) or 3 of us have to land together?
January 22, 2021 at 15:31
Assuming he activated last year he can travel without you. You will process the baby for a GC the next time you enter the USA.

I want to believe that pres. Joe isnt even aware of pp10014. during the execution of ‘no travel ban order’, am certain the pp10014 suspension will elapse automatically and be replaced by ‘no boarding without recent covid free cert. and a must quarantine for new arrivals’ as stated yesterday. So dv2020 with valid visas should be dressing by now as dv2021 assemble our documents for interviews soonest.
God bless Joe, God bless Brit.

Of course he is aware. But yes, it is likely we will see the ban removed on the 29th, or replaced by more sensible measures being put in place. If not – lawsuits.

Hi Brit Simon,
Hope you are doing good.
We haven’t heard from kcc for supporting documents. If we have got disqualified due to prev year photo for 2021dv. Will this effect our kcc process if we got selected in 2022 dv program.
January 22, 2021 at 15:33
They will not have disqualified you for the photo. No impact to DV2022

Hi Brit !
I have trouble checking out my status. I did as before : went to caec.state.gov / 260 online immigrant visa and alien registration application, and it keeps on saying : invalid confirmation number while applying to check status….while I accurately typed every single letter/number several times . What does that mean ? Before 2 months I was able to check it…

Most likely it means you are making some sort of mistake.

The March visa bulletin
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2021/visa-bulletin-for-february-2021.html
January 22, 2021 at 13:23
If KCC believes that the remaining time is not sufficient to complete 55 thousand visas, even with the work of embassies at its maximum capacity, is it possible for the visa bulletin to become current
January 22, 2021 at 15:41
That is not likely. It is the opposite of what their procedures say they should do.

Hello Brit,
The visa bulletin for March interviews has been released: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2021/visa-bulletin-for-february-2021.html
My case number is AF31xxx but I still didn’t submit my DS-260. Should I submit now or wait?
Thanks in advance.
