Hi Simon, two more questions.
I have 2 given-names plus married/maiden name.
Question 1:
Which one will be the correct way to name my documents?
a) Susie_Kirsten_Johnson_Smith or
b) Susie Kirsten_Johnson Smith
Question 2:
On my DS260 I wrote the given-names of my father in a different sequence as written on my birth certificate.
a) David John Eric (on DS260)
b) Eric David John (on my birth certificate)
Shall I re-open my DS260 or am I over-thinking?
Thank you.
February 25, 2021 at 13:51
1. a.
2. Overthinking.
February 24, 2021 at 21:06
Hello Simon, we are writing because we stated on the DS260 that the mailing address for the green card was a friend’s house who now moved. We would like to know if we can ask KCC to open the DS for us so we can change the information or if it is better to tell the consular officers that at the interview. Thanks so much for your advice and support.
February 25, 2021 at 13:53
Do that at the interview.
February 24, 2021 at 23:38
Is it true that the ban on entry has been rescinded?

hi simon,
I am derived from my father and holder of a dv2020 visa from Senegal (Africa).
I study in France now and therefore I am barred by the shengen ban with a visa which expires on March 14.
the problem is that I tested positive for covid-19 today
so i wanted to know
1- Will the visa be extended by 6 months from today ???
2- Is that my parents can join the united states and that I join them later.
3- what do you recommend me to do?
February 25, 2021 at 13:14
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Get well.
February 25, 2021 at 00:12
First of all thank you all and specially you Brit for your great effort

our day has come congratulations to all the dv2020 and the dv2021 winners. now we can only wait for our interview. i am happy . thanks God the numbers for covid 19 have started to drop. let’s hope the embassies open. proclamation 10014 has been revoked
February 25, 2021 at 00:49
Sir I’m DV2021 winner and I currently live another country outside my birth country. I happened not to have any valid visa for my current country of residence, so sir will this be an issue during the interview process, any suggestions?
February 25, 2021 at 13:16
No problem that I know of.
February 25, 2021 at 00:53
Pp10014 has been revoked!!!
February 25, 2021 at 01:03
Yeah! It’s a great news!?
February 25, 2021 at 01:53
Hello Simom,
Selected for DV2021AF3****
Great news that PP10014 has been revoked. Hope everyone with valid DV2020 visa are running to the airport right now 🙂
Questions:
1- Although PP10014 was revoked, the Covid ban hasn’t. I’m from Cabo Verde living in Brazil which is currently under the covid ban, like China, Schengen area, etc. Should I ask KCC too change my interview location so they can process my case once and if I become current?
2- Will cases like Anunciato that protects DV2021 will continue regardless of the revoked ban?
Thank you!
February 25, 2021 at 13:18
1. There is a blanket NIE for the 14 day bans. https://britsimonsays.com/pp10014-is-gone/
2. Yes
February 25, 2021 at 15:12
Hi Simon,
I’m sorry, I didn’t understand! I’m a DV2021 CN AF38***
My case number is not current yet and IF I get the interview it will probably be months away.
Because I live in Brazil which is banned because of the covid, i’m afraid that my case will not be proccessed.
I’m asking if it would be wise to try and transfer my case location to my country Cabo Verde?
Thank you!
February 25, 2021 at 19:19
A lot can happen between now and when you get current. I suggest you wait for now.
February 25, 2021 at 01:54

February 25, 2021 at 02:55
Hi Sir,
My visa is set to expires on 14th March and i’m one of plaintiff in Mohammad case. At this time i’m unable to travel within next 14 days. so according to the injunctive relief of gomez case, Is my visa valid up to another 6 months from the 24th February? Is it risky to wait and travel after the visa expiration? I would like to hear your suggestion sir
Thanks

https://twitter.com/ckuck/status/1364771524587229185?s=19
I think you dont have to quarantine for 14 days. Lets see what brit says
February 25, 2021 at 13:21
Yes, there is an NIE for the 14 day bans. No problem.
February 25, 2021 at 03:54
Blanket NIE is given for covid travel restrictions. So you can travel with out quarantine in 3rd country.
February 25, 2021 at 13:20
Travelling before the visa expires will be wiser – but the order is in place to allow the extension.
February 25, 2021 at 03:18
Dear Sir,
Two years ago i worked in UAE and now i’m in my home country Nepal. I had send all the required documents to KCC on September 2020, except police certificate from UAE because In the reciprocity page ” Police certificate from dubai only be issued if you are physically present in UAE” due to this, it is mentioned in the reciprocity page that if you are no longer in the country there’s no requirement for it, but i haven’t mention all these statement in my email to KCC. My question is do i have to resend all document with these statement.
February 25, 2021 at 06:21
I have same question here I lived in China but now I’m in my country because of corona unless I go there I can’t get my police certificate
February 25, 2021 at 13:20
Just send an explanation email.
February 26, 2021 at 00:20
Actually, I had the same issue, as I worked in Dubai for 3 years. I solved it by getting an electronic police certificate. You can get it either through the Dubai Police Website or the Ministry of Interior website.
I advise you to do the same. Just a reminder though, it’s valid only for 3 months, so if your interview gets scheduled after 3+ months, you have to apply for it again.
I already filled the DS-260 last August, and already got the confirmation email regarding the documents, so no problem there.
All the best my friend.
February 26, 2021 at 00:32
By confirmation I mean: “Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all documentation required by the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current.”
February 25, 2021 at 05:11
Hi Brit,
Thanks for being with us all this time through all this ban nightmare. Congrats everyone on pp10014 being revoked!!
I have a question. Me and my pregnant wife are DV2020 visa holders. Our plan is to enter US to adjust our LPR status and leave back home for child delivery. Will our child also be able to get his LPR when we all will move to US after he is born outside US? Or we might face difficulties with his status in US?
Thanks in advance.
February 25, 2021 at 13:24
Yes that will be OK – read the FAQ.
February 25, 2021 at 06:43
Hi SImon,
My police certificate was submitted to KCC in July and I was sent the ready for scheduling email. My number has been current since October. The London embassy website says that UK police certificates are valid for 12 months but the medical examination information states the police certificates must have been issued within the past 6 months, so it looks like I will need a new one due to the delay.
Will I need to submit the new police certificate to KCC prior to the interview or will it be ok to take both the new one and old one to the interview?
Thanks
February 25, 2021 at 13:31
Police certificates are valid for 12 months. Get a new one if it makes you feel safer.
February 25, 2021 at 08:15
Hi Brit,
Hallelujah the ban is gone! Thanks to you for being with us, cheers to that!
In DS-260, regarding that twelve years of education, we only mentioned Pre-university and high school degrees which Covers only four years out of twelve and did not mention our middle school and elementary schools which covers eight years, though we mentioned our university degrees supposing that every one knows without a complete twelve years of education mentioned above entering a university is impossible! Do you suppose it may cause a problem for us? Shall we take the middle and elementary schools degrees with us to the interview?!
February 25, 2021 at 13:33
No problem, but yes – take the extra documents if possible.
February 25, 2021 at 08:23
Hi Brit,
As a winner of DV2021 with CN EU24XXX, do You think if all starts soon, after ban gone… this no. has a chance to be intervievd??
and Do You think I should start with dv260 now or wait or forgot couse the no. is to high.
Thanks for all you doing for Us Brt!
February 25, 2021 at 13:35
I can’t predict that – certainly not yet. You could wait a few weeks and see how things get moving or the outcome of the Anunciato case.
February 25, 2021 at 08:33

Hi BritSimons,
An important question as Birth certificate is mandatory and Reciprocity page at DOS website shows how to obtain it but the issue is that if many years have been passed and the birth certificate will obviously be issued with present date of issuance Now will it (date of issuance)cause problem in interview as interviewer may suspect that the normal birth certificates are issued within 1 yr of birth and yours is issued 20 plus yrs later?
Yours response will be appreciated
February 25, 2021 at 13:36
No problem.
February 25, 2021 at 10:53
My case number is DV2021 AF8XXX. I have sent the documents and received the confirmation of documents by November 2020. My daughter’s passport expires in May 2021 so I renewed it now.
1. Should I ask the KCC to unlock the DS260 in order to enter the information of the new passport or wait until the interview. I don’t have the old passport as it is a requirement to return it to the authorities in order to get a new one. I have only a copy
2. In case I ask for the unlock, would they request to resend all the documents again? (The police records are valid only for three months for me and my wife and I have to renew them and I would have to get new ones If they request them, I am just concerned about the delays due to the bureaucracy in my country)
Thank you for your greatly-appreciated help
February 25, 2021 at 14:02
1. Just Take the new and old passport to the interview.
2. See 1
February 25, 2021 at 12:41

February 25, 2021 at 14:59
Mast I have a lawyer?
February 25, 2021 at 15:02
No – you have lawyers already fighting for you.
February 26, 2021 at 11:24
Do you know how many visas they apply?
February 26, 2021 at 22:23
9095 are protected so far, but the lawyers are asking for more.

Hi Brit,
A little confused about my wife case. She had interview today for immigrant visa F2, her passport being hold by the consular who says he still waiting for her medical exams results and that they will reach out ounce they receive it.
But I just check the case status on ceac and it’s saying REFUSED?
What does that mean? An error? Should I call them?
February 25, 2021 at 19:20
I only advise on DV lottery cases, but it sounds like the REFUSED status is simply the status they apply when they have documents missing like the medical.
February 25, 2021 at 15:57
Hello Brit, Thanks for your effort in DV cases. I m a DV selectee with case number 2020AS7416 from Nepal, I had got email “ready for scheduling” from KCC on Feb 19 2020. How does revoking of Presidential Proclamation 10014 help us? What should I do next?
February 25, 2021 at 19:24
You just have to wait for the outcome of the Gomez case.
February 25, 2021 at 16:13

Thank you,

February 25, 2021 at 19:26
You should supply the documents, yes. I can’t predict when you would get current.
February 25, 2021 at 19:47
Hi Brit, I am from Nepal currently living in Denmark and has won DV2021, I choose my place of interview here in Denmark(in DS260) but I recently knew that DV cases/visas are handled by US embassy in Sweden only in Scandinavia countries. My case number is 2021ASxxxx. I am bit confused because there is still ban in schengen countries, so I need a suggestion whether I should change my place of interview to Nepal in DS260 or let it be as it is now.
Thank you ?
February 26, 2021 at 21:13
You have hidden too much of your case number. Things are changing, so what an embassy is doing today may not be the same in a month or two from now.
February 25, 2021 at 20:00
Hello Mr. Simon!
First of all thank you for your greatly appreciated help. My case number is 2021EU69XX. I have submitted requested documents on early September 2020 as KCC requested. Up till now I haven’t received the confirmation email ” ready to schedul”. In late january I have sent to KCC an email asking if my documents were satisfactory and KCC reply was :
“Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing…After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed…”
Last week I have sent to KCC another email asking if my case is ready to be scheduled and KCC reply was :
” Scheduling for the DV 2021 program year has not yet begun. Please monitor Travel.State.gov for updates. Selectees will be notified by an email to the address they provided to check the Entrant Status Check (ESC) website as soon as an interview is scheduled. KCC cannot provide information as to when an interview date may become available for your case. Interviews are scheduled numerically according to assigned case numbers which have completed processing…”
What should I do in this situation?
Your advise please.
Thank you in advance!
February 26, 2021 at 21:16
Email them again in a week or so.
February 25, 2021 at 22:41
Hey BritSimon,
Thanks for all the work you out into helping others with the dv lottery – it’s awesome stuff. That being said, I have recently run up against something I’m not sure about so thought I might ask here to get your thoughts on the matter.
I am a dv2020 lottery winner from oceania, but couldn’t attend my interview due to coronavirus lockdowns (both the initial set date, and when the consulate opened in Sept). It’s been quite the ordeal, but in the meantime, I’ve been offered a contract to work in the US on a H1b visa.
My question is, would it be possible to change the interview location if I took this job (i.e. was in the US) before the outcome of the Gomez case? Or would this ruin any opportunity to obtain the green card (since a specific location was set to have the interview while submitting the dv260 way back when, and getting a flight back to my home country would be impossible).
February 26, 2021 at 21:21
That would be OK – you may be able to adjust status from the H1 to DV GC if you are here when the Gomez case completes. However, since AOS was never blocked, you might need to go back to home to benefit from the order. It’s impossible to predict at this time.
February 25, 2021 at 23:21
Hi Simon, with pp removed when it was, how many months of processing could or should we have?
February 26, 2021 at 21:22
Please be clear.
February 26, 2021 at 21:29
How many months of Dv-2021 processing do you think we have now with pp10014 removed, regardless of empassies reopening or not.
February 26, 2021 at 23:50

February 26, 2021 at 00:30
Dear Britsimon. I can’t thank you enough. Could you let me ask you some questions.
I have already submitted the DS260 and have also submitted further documents.
Do I need to resubmit my DS260 if I change my job and address before the interview? How should I respond?
February 26, 2021 at 21:47
No need to update the DS260 for a simple change like that.
February 26, 2021 at 01:44
Hi sir, I was glancing through my DS 260 I applied for 2021 dv in AF. My CN is 59k
I realized that at the educational column ( number of high educational institutions attended ) I chosed 1 but meanwhile
I’ve attended
1. Junior high school
2. Senior high school
3. Training college
Note: I only the option 3 .
A. I want to know if I could face any trouble during the interview?
B. Is it a good idea to write to unlock my ds260 to add those I omitted ?
Thank you.
February 26, 2021 at 21:48
Personally I would unlock. You have loads of time to wait anyway, so unlocking won’t cause delay.
February 26, 2021 at 02:43
Hi Brit
I’m making my payment to USCIS for my immigration fee and it’s asking me for contact information (address). Is this the address my green card will be sent to or my address in Australia? Sorry if this is a silly question. I appreciate all your help.
Thank you
Nicki
February 26, 2021 at 07:28
Its ok Brit I got it sorted. Please disregard.
Thank you
Nicki
February 26, 2021 at 22:15
🙂
February 26, 2021 at 21:51
Not sure. Probably the billing address of the credit card. That system is not the way they get your address to send the card to – they send it to the US address you gave on the DS260.
February 26, 2021 at 03:32
Brit thank you for the passion and efforts that you put towards DV lottery. May the Lord continue to grant you strength to help us more.
As you may already know ,i am a dv 2020 case who’s interview was canceled in April. Many like me are happy that pp10014 have been revoked and some all visa holders can enter the USA.
However we those waiting for the outcome of the Gomez case are a little perplexed and in sleepless nights and distressed ,if not depressed.
Kindly make a video to inspire hope in us again if there is.
Its not easy to wait for more than 2 years or not easy for your case to be scheduled and cancelled and you never had a chance to prove the CO that you qualify to enter America.
Please do something coz we have lost appetite, the sleepless nights at too much. Thank you
February 26, 2021 at 21:51
I keep talking about it – but for now all you can do is wait.
February 26, 2021 at 05:04
Hi again Simon,
I have one last question. My friend who I listed as a sponsor in DS-260 will be moving to Taiwan for a long period of time so I will be staying with a relative who will also provide the i-134, should I email KCC to unlock my form to modify this or I can address this at the interview ?
February 26, 2021 at 22:06
At interview.
February 27, 2021 at 00:13
Thank you Simon for the enormous effort, you’re the best.
February 26, 2021 at 05:11
Hi Simon
appreciate that you’re sharing your knowledge with us here.
I’m Iranian – Australian currently in the U.S on F1 Visa. I have won the DV2021 but my case no is a bit high2021AS12xxx. My question is that to do AOS should I wait for Iran’s case numbers to be announced or I can go ahead with Asia’s numbers?
I’m thinking the only reason Iran’s numbers are announced separately is that there is no U.S. embassy in Iran and they have to accommodate the interviews in the other countries. I’m thinking since I’ve got nothing to do with embassies or consulates I can submit my documents to USCIS as soon as my number is announced in Asia’s numbers ? am I right? greatly appreciate your response.
February 26, 2021 at 22:07
No. If there is an exception for Iran (it may be removed), then you follow that number.
February 26, 2021 at 06:53
Hi Brit, Thank you everything that you have been doing.
Question: My dv2020 visa expiration date is on March 16, and I have a flight on March 8. Is there any meaning(risk) to change my flight before March 8, or it is ok?
February 26, 2021 at 22:07
It’s ok.
February 26, 2021 at 07:11
Simon, do I have to send adoption decree to KCC for adopted children?
February 26, 2021 at 22:15
Yes. Remember the adoption must have been legally completed 2 years previously.
February 26, 2021 at 08:16
Dear Simon,
I will be leaving my current job this week.
Do I need to update DS 260? (I am ready for scheduling since 2 months).
Thank you for your guidance
Andy
February 26, 2021 at 22:16
No
February 26, 2021 at 08:45
Hi Simon,
Scenario: New Baby Born case in foreign land
My case no( 2021AS34XX) became active in Januray Buletin. I have already submitted all documents and received confirmation from KCC long back. Now this February, I have been blessed with baby. I have received the Birth Certificate and applied Passport from the consular office here, which will take approx 2month to deliver the passport. What shall I do in this case?? Shall I wait to be scheduled for interview or Shall I inform KCC about new born baby.
Thanks with regards.
BIM
February 26, 2021 at 22:16
You must inform KCC – read the FAQ.
February 26, 2021 at 09:24
I think the only way to prove the goodfaith of the government should be to make the visa bulletin current at the end of the fiscal year in September in order to grant the largest number of visas possible.
February 26, 2021 at 10:23
Hi Sir,
I would like you to help me interpret this information.
” In addition, diversity visa applicants for DV 2020 who were not issued visas before Sept 30,2020 for any reason including P. P will NOT be interviewed, scheduled , or reconsidered for visas , as those applicants were only eligible for insurance of a visa through the end of the 2020 fiscal year , which ended on Sept 30,2020 ”
Thank you
February 26, 2021 at 22:19
It’s the correct position until we win the Gomez case.
February 26, 2021 at 10:51
Dear Brit,
Good day and trust you are well.
Thank you to you and all the lawyers still working on DV 2020/21 cases.
I just received this update from the US embassy in Paris. Very very positive news. Despite the fact that I am a 2021 selectee, I feel encouraged for all 55k visas to be issued before the FY runs out.
UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING DIVERSITY VISAS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF LPRS
Diversity Visas (DV 2020)
Diversity Visa holders for 2020 who have already been issued their visa may now immigrate on their visa to the United States, even if that visa has expired.
The Secretary of State has determined that DV2020 visa holders meet the requirements for a National Interest Exception to the geographic Presidential Proclamation limiting travel from the Schengen Zone. Additionally, a federal court ruled on February 19 that upon the expiration or rescinding of the Presidential Proclamation 10014, all expired Diversity Visas would adopt the date of expiration or rescindment as their new date of issuance. We urge visa holders to travel as soon as possible. We are unable to reissue Diversity Visas after fiscal year 2020.
Thank you

Hi Simon,
I’ve done a bit of a search but couldn’t get clarity on this.
I am a DV2021 winner and I haven’t done the ds260 yet and my number isn’t up yet (Oceania in the 1300’s).
I hold an Australian passport, when I applied I was living in London so I’m registered at the London embassy to do so. In the meantime my U.K. visa ran out and I now live in Ireland, I was going to obviously change my embassy to Dublin.
If I had an opportunity to go back and live in the U.K. for 6 months under a tourist visa can I still apply/do my interview back in London or do I need “residence” in the country Id be doing this from?
Looking forward to hearing from you and any thought or info you might have. Have a lovely weekend!

You don’t need to prove residence.

Hi Brit, Just saw this in international news.
US carries out air strikes in Syria targeting Iranian backed militia structures. The strikes mark the military’s first known action under President Joe Biden – Foreign Media
will this have any negative impact towards Iran n Syria selectees for their dv process?

I can’t predict the future about everything…

What is happening with IATA? I have a flight from Serbia via Istanbul on February 28 to Chicago. I wouldn’t want the inconvenience of going to the airport without being allowed on the plane.

You have to be realistic. You will need to prepare for travel by checking what covid tests you need, make sure the airline understand you can board, be prepared with the State Dept announcement, the proclamation and the CBP phone numbers (below).
For Asia, Pacific Rim 808-237-4632
For Latin America, Caribbean 305-874-5444
For Europe, Africa, Mid-East 718-553-1783
If you don’t prepare you might be inconvenienced. So prepare!

Hi Brit,
I had submitted the DS260 form in December 2020 and inorder to include more education details for me and my spouse, i unlocked it on Feb 24th and resubmitted it. My spouse has travelled to UAE and Saudi Arabia in Feb 2021 and is currently living in Saudi Arabia with me. I forgot to include it in the DS260 form when i unlocked it. Do i need to request to unlock the form again and include it considering that i had originally submitted the DS260 form in December 2020 (Before she travels to these countries)
