When will 2nl for February interviews start to be sent?
December 17, 2016 at 17:35
https://britsimonsays.com/january-2017-visa-bulletin-released/
December 17, 2016 at 15:17
Actually it was entered for me by someone else.
December 17, 2016 at 17:35
You are still responsible. In immigration matters and in life in general, it is important to take responsibility where the responsibility is yours.
December 17, 2016 at 15:53
Hi BritSimon i am dv lottery selectee from Albania my cn is around 26000 i lived for one year in italy so i must send to us embassy a police records from there.
From that state i been pulsed for 3years for all schengen cuz i was a clandestine, this problem of mine may affect on my dv interview pls give me answer cuz i am to much worried. my criminal records there is clear in Italy also in my country
December 17, 2016 at 17:34
They ask for criminal records (police certs), not visa/immigration records. That shows they are not interested in your immigration status in other countries UNLESS some aspect of that becomes a criminal issue.
December 17, 2016 at 19:45
what do you think i need a opinion if you remember any person who had the same prob. like me.. i’m sory to much if i’m ennoying but this is my last chance to have a better life and thanks a lot for all information
December 17, 2016 at 22:49
I just explained why it is not a problem. Calm down.
December 18, 2016 at 17:08
To unlock ds-260, do I have to send email to the kcc with my email address or can i send the email from my friend’s email address and plz also suggest me what information I hav to include in that email .and after receiving my mail , will kcc call me ?
December 18, 2016 at 18:04
As long as you include the correct information it doesn’t matter which email address from which you send the request.
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/how-do-i-unlock-my-ds260/
December 18, 2016 at 18:14
Can anyone unlock my ds-260 if they have my case number and know my date of birth and make changes without my prior concern ?
December 18, 2016 at 18:28
Potentially yes. Don’t give your number to anyone.
December 18, 2016 at 18:42
From which website we can make changes in ds-260
December 18, 2016 at 18:58
Same site you submitted it. You must email KCC to get it unlocked first.
https://ceac.state.gov/iv/
December 20, 2016 at 14:52
Will it create any problem if we frequently check our ds-260 form after submission ?
December 20, 2016 at 15:07
No
December 17, 2016 at 19:17
yes i know that but i talk with us embassy and they told me to take 2 certificate from Italy: 1 certificato generale del casellario giudiziale
2 certificato dei carichi pendenti
the second one is the police records extact its clear cuz i never been acused or judged for any crime
the first one show up all administrative infrigement so also there its gonna be writen my expulsion and i’m affraid thats can be a reason for denied visa
December 17, 2016 at 18:10
Hi brti i have submited at the end of june cn is AF000051** when i will schedul?
December 17, 2016 at 18:35
Probably in the next batch (February interviews). Wait and see.
December 17, 2016 at 19:30
But is it possible that they do not discover this mistake? the marriage was in May and the entry was in October.
December 17, 2016 at 23:09
How is it possible for them to not “discover” the mistake??? Her entry was made as single and you have completed the DS260 as married, AND sent them a long email explaining every detail of the mistake! You have to provide documentation for the marriage. This is not going to be overlooked.
If you can’t accept what I am telling you, go ahead and attend the interview. It’s your time and money, it’s up to you.
December 19, 2016 at 13:49
After few months of submitting ds-260, I can still check my ds-260 form . Once submitted it becomes locked then how are we still able to check it without sendind email to kcc? My question is to we need to send email to kcc only for editing and not for checking and review
December 19, 2016 at 15:20
Checking is still possible. It should say “completed” if locked, and it is not editable if locked.
December 17, 2016 at 21:25
Hi there. I went on the interview Nov 14 in Stockholm but didn’t bring financial proof. However, I sent a bank statement Dec 1 with registered mail, as per their request, which they collected Dec 2. The actual sum was, lucky enough, around 125 % of the poverty level.
I also e-mailed a certificate from the Swedish Board for Study Support to further try to convince them that I will not become a financial burden. They answered that they’d add it to the application and that they’d let me know should they require anything else.
Yesterday I received an e-mail from the postal service saying that I have mail coming my way from the embassy, which will arrive Monday.
I’m practically a nerve wreck. Care to make a guess whether it’s positive or negative?
Thank you in advance.
December 17, 2016 at 22:44
No, I don’t have a guess.
December 18, 2016 at 17:58

Hello,
I am Guelord GXXXX, I am married to my wife since 2014 and my wife had a visa interview at the USA Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo in January 2016 but the USA consult denied her the visa for the simple reason that the marriage was a proxy and unconsummated.
On March 2014 I delegated my cousin to represent me during my civil Marriage and signed all the papers work on my behalf.
When they denied the visa to my wife, I went to the Democratic Republic of Congo the country where my wife is living as advised by a lawyer to go, consumed the marriage, get that marriage papers work right and clean by signing them physically myself. And I did exactly what the lawyer told me. While in the Democratic Republic of Congo, I went through a public hearing at the HIGHEST COURT of XXXXX on 11/2016, the court decided by a Ruling to Cancel the Civil Marriage Certificate that my Cousin signed on behalf of me in 06/20/2014 as the Marriage was a proxy based one, and the court ordered to establish a new Civil Marriage Certificate that I personally signed with my wife.
So when I came back in the USA from Congo, I brought all those papers work and filed a new petition.
Now the problem is that the USCIS California Center has not approved the new petition WAC16XXXXX filed on 07/18/2016 and asked me evidence to show if I terminated a former marriage with my wife and start a new one.
I sent to them the court Ruling that canceled the Marriage certificate that my cousin signed in 2014, and that court ruling ordered the establishment of a new marriage signed by myself and my wife.
They have both the canceled Marriage certificate and the New one Signed by myself.
I don’t know what to expect now and need your help.
Thank you
December 18, 2016 at 00:44
I cannot advise you as I do not advise on any case apart from DV lottery. I removed certain information – you should never publish that much identifiable information on the internet.

Dear Brit I sent ds in mid july and interview has not been scheduled yet and I married few weeks ago but my wife is not immigrating with me now, so should I infrom KCC about it now?
December 18, 2016 at 14:18
If your marital status has changed, you should email KCC to unlock and then you alter your DS260. Please read the link below.

December 18, 2016 at 15:01
Hi Brit:
First, THANK YOU for being here to answer my question!
Secondly, my Canadian boyfriend did the basic application in Nov (?) and we’re waiting till May to see if he’s accepted. He was recently denied entry at the border for no legitimate reason. The border patrol agents made up things. We think my boyfriend’s ex called in and lied about him which put a big red flag on his name. Do you think he’ll be denied the Visa? If he is denied, can an immigration lawyer reverse the decision? He’s guilty until he proves himself innocent. He’s an elderly man so all of this is really shocking to us. Thank you!
December 18, 2016 at 18:25
I think by basic application you mean he entered the lottery for DV2018 – the results being published in May. This is a lottery, the chances of being selected are worse than once in 100 years. It really doesn’t make sense to worry about any of that until he is selected. If selected the processing won’t be for many months from now – as late as September 2018.
December 18, 2016 at 15:30
Hi Simon:
Hope you’re well.
I am waiting for my interview to be scheduled for 2017 EU region.
I read through guidance given on https://britsimonsays.com/faq/what-are-the-diseases-that-can-cause-denial/
On this page you say that:
“In addition, the physician is responsible for checking the vaccinations of the immigrant to meet the list of vaccine preventable diseases – also linked above. This latter list will not cause denial however, as long as someone is vaccinated.”
Does this mean that. while attending the medical, I need to come up with a list of all the vaccinations I have had as a child? I am in UK now but I was born in India and we didn’t have a “red book” growing up – so I am not sure what vaccinations I had (or hadn’t). I have a “red book” for my kids but not for me or my wife (she is a primary applicant based on her birth in Germany).
Please advise.
Thanks !
December 18, 2016 at 18:20
The doctor will decide, and will use their judgement of what you would normally have had given your country of childhood etc. If they are uncertain, they will administer additional jabs.
December 18, 2016 at 16:49
Mr Simon, I have lived in the UK from January 2012 to October 2013 for studying. according to instructions I should obtain a police certificate from the UK. I am expecting my case to be current by July. Do you think I should apply for my UK police certificate now or should I wait? someone told me it should not be older than six months. but since I am not living there anymore and never returned since I left UK.
thanks
December 18, 2016 at 18:05
Wait until nearer the time. Why have an old certificate when there is no need?
December 18, 2016 at 16:54
Hi Brit . can one person sponsor two individuals on different programs, say one on dv program and the other person a fill in program from the same country and interview in the same embassy in the same fiscal year with out any impact? my sponsor is sending for his mother this same fiscal and that is worrying me.
December 18, 2016 at 18:04
It might have an impact.
December 18, 2016 at 19:06
Hello Brit! My family has the case number EU20xx but they submitted the DS260 July 7. We are getting a little worried why we don’t have a date yet. Is there any chance we will get the date soon? is it anything to worry about?
December 18, 2016 at 19:37
It is normal – read this:

Hi! Dear ! Britsimon. I have 1 question. Last year l won dvlottery, and I was finished all process and I was get visa of USA then I was traveled to America, but my spouse and my children not with me because I started process as single . This is my mistake . My question is How I can take them ? Please advise me.
December 19, 2016 at 01:56
So – you lied in the entry and you lied throughout the process. You have committed serious immigration offence. You can never bring them – as doing so provides the evidence of your fraud.

Hey Simon,
I was approved last Tuesday in Sydney and was told my passport would be returned in a couple of days and still haven’t heard anything and my postal tracking number has “No Pending Events” against it.
Do you have any idea how long it usually takes to get a passport returned?
Cheers
December 19, 2016 at 04:35
Around 1 to 2 weeks.
December 19, 2016 at 04:44
cool thanks!
December 19, 2016 at 09:02
Hi Brit,I am married and upon filling the DV Lottery form i included my spouse and my child’s name in the system. My wife would be having a baby early next year.Including the new born in the DS260 wont affect the application?Advice me,please.Thank you.
December 19, 2016 at 15:58
Once the child is born you should update your DS260’s with the correct information. You would also add a DS260 for the baby. That is normal procedure and would not normally cause delay.
December 19, 2016 at 09:12
Hello Sir,
thanks so much to all your replies & your blog is really helping a lot to get prepare & arrange things. almost every thing is answered here & when we want to look about something we just visit your blog/site & get the info.
any ways thanks again & want to ask one question which i want to hear from u. once i filled the DS-260, i started getting prepared & asked to get a certificate that indicates i’m single. i already got it 3 months before (September) & may wait 2 more months for the interview. so, the certificate will be a total of 6 months since issued during my interview. so is that really valid & can accept it? of course i’m still now single & not planning to get marry soon. i read almost all of your replies informs that certificates such as police & affidavit support must be prepared nearer to the interview. how about marital status? i’m afraid it may create a doubt or raise a question since a lot of things may happen with in 6 months?
December 19, 2016 at 15:30
That document is not used in all countries (in fact, very few), so I don’t know about the validity of that document. More recent is always better.
December 19, 2016 at 10:53
Mr Brit
please I forgot to enter my work phone number on the ds260 form and am basing my qualification on working experience. Please am expecting 2nl for February interviews. Will it affect my application or what do you suggest I do?
December 19, 2016 at 15:26
That is not a problem, no need to add the phone number.
I assume you have checked your work experience is at the correct level?
December 19, 2016 at 15:44
yes I have work with a small IT company since 2010.I went there on attachment basis in 2008 and got employed fully in 2010 up to date.
please is it OK?
December 19, 2016 at 16:04
It depends on your role at the company. Further, your approval will depend on you proving that position to the satisfaction of the CO.
December 19, 2016 at 14:20
Hey Britsimon,
Can i change the address at which I want to receive my green card once I reach the port of entry in the U.S? Thanks.
December 19, 2016 at 15:07
Yes, at the POE airport.
December 19, 2016 at 15:17
Mr Brit
please I forgot to enter my work phone number on the ds260 form and am basing my qualification on working experience. Please am expecting 2nl for February interviews. Will it affect my application or what do you suggest I do?
December 19, 2016 at 15:38
Hy brit am a dv lottery winner and have submitted my ds 260 on the 10th September 2016 with my case number 2017AF000073** but have not received my 2NL till now when should i expect my interview schedule date please help me out.thanx
December 19, 2016 at 16:09
Your late submission will have caused some delay. Expect to wait some months.

December 19, 2016 at 15:43
Big Brit,
Can someone undergo treatment if he/she is found to have a communicable disease after the medicals say hepatitis and still get the visa?
or no need to attend the interview if the Panel Physician says you are diagnosed of any communicable disease as per diseases listed.
Once again THANK YOU,BIG BRIT!!
December 19, 2016 at 16:07
The physician would advise the applicant in that case. Sometimes courses of treatment take months, so approval might not be possible if there is not enough time for treatment.
December 19, 2016 at 16:11
Hi Simon, Do you know about if i get snap ( AllKids free health insurance and food stamp for my daughter ) is there any negative impact inviting my family for US tourist visa & apply for citizenship after 5 years ??
December 19, 2016 at 16:15
You have to be very careful.
https://www.uscis.gov/news/fact-sheets/public-charge-fact-sheet
December 19, 2016 at 17:47
So , as of above link, medical insurance will not considered public charge right ?? I am so confused about to get insurance for my daughter or not
December 19, 2016 at 18:03
That is how I understand it – but you must decide for yourself.
December 19, 2016 at 16:43
Hi Simon the Brit? Hope you are well.
What subjective reasons are there for the CO to deny issuing visas?
Wish a happy Christmastimes!
December 19, 2016 at 16:51
Well the public charge rule is the most obvious one, but also the CO sometimes has to make a judgement about the validity of documents or whether the requirements such as work experience have been met.
December 19, 2016 at 18:43
hi I’m really upset!!after 70 days the embassy don’t clear me!! whats wrong about my case!? I don’t know how long does it take?!!its stressful:-(
December 19, 2016 at 19:07
Do you know why you were placed on AP?
Are you Iranian?
December 19, 2016 at 20:16
yes I’m Iranian but I’m single girl with no especial work experience! I’m architect I think its not dangrious field! architectures are artist!! maybe it cause to master degree which I have!! it made me crazy 🙁
December 19, 2016 at 20:20
It’s because you are Iranian. The Iranian government is openly aggressive toward the USA and does not co-operate with the USA in background checks and so on. So everything takes longer. Iranian cases of AP commonly last 4 or 5 months, so you should expect to wait several months more.
December 19, 2016 at 21:51
Hi simon
Me and my wife are winners DV2016
We are in USA since 12 November
I have received my green card yesterday but my wife not received it yet it is normal that they have not send the green card of my wife with mine ? Thank u very much.
December 19, 2016 at 23:59
Yes.
December 20, 2016 at 06:33
Hello Mr. Brit! I am bothering you again. Actually I have made in father’s name correction in my secondary and higher secondary certificate (Pakistan). ( I have got bachelor degree). As after correction they issued me with 2016 date. Will it be a problem during interview (Kazakhstan)? If yes, then my second question is that I have got my higher secondary teacher living and working in the US now. if I take any kind of notarized letter from him that he used to be my teacher at higher secondary at certain school and can confirm about me being academic student in certain year. Thanks in advance
December 20, 2016 at 15:06
1. I don’t know
2. Proof needs to be from official sources.
December 20, 2016 at 07:29
Hi Simon. My wife is a 2017 winner. Her name was on the list issued in September. Our case number is EU30xxx. We have submitted DS 260 in November and are waiting for 2NL. Meanwhile we are reading a lot of forums, where people have different opinions concerning the high case numbers. I would like to know your point of view, as a trusted and experienced person, about our chances to be invited to the interview and get the visas. Thanks in advance!
December 20, 2016 at 14:59
No one can tell you with certainty.
We know 28500 EU people were selected in the first draw. WE don’t know the number for the second draw, but I estimate it to be around 5000. If that is correct then there is some risk for the highest numbers, but as I said, we can’t be certain. Honestly – the only sensible answer is “wait and see”.
December 20, 2016 at 16:04
Thank you for your respond, but i have another question now. What is the point of issuing 5000 more numbers. Logically, they should have had a exact plan before “giving a hope” to this big number of people. As i could understand, this is the first case of splitting winners list in 2 parts.
December 20, 2016 at 16:49
No it is not the first time they split the draw into two parts. Doing so holds back the DS260 submissions from the 2nd draw giving earlier numbers a few months headstart on DS260 processing. That may be at least partly why they did it this year. FYI, there have been other years where massive numbers of selectees did not become current. They don’t care about giving false hope. They would prefer to have a few too many than too few.
I think the 28500 was too few – the question is whether 33500 is too many. So – we can do a little math to explain why I can’t be certain. DV2016 had 27000 EU selectees – no second draw (FAR too few). Because of that only about 15500 visas were issued to EU. The EU quota is theoretically higher than that – probably at around 18500 (actually 18300 at 50000 worldwide, 19300 at 53000 worldwide). Let’s assume 18500. So – if my 5000 number is correct, we have about 6500 more selectees than last year for about 3000 more visas than last year. The selectee to visas issued rate was about 57% (15500/27000 *100). The issued rate will probably be higher than 57% in the higher number ranges because the two big countries (Ukraine and Uzbekistan) have lower success rate. So the demand from those extra 6500 selectees would be at least 3700 visas.
BUT:
I am guessing the 5000 (an educated guess based on data, but still a guess).
I don’t know the highest EU case number yet – but I think it is about 31000.
I don’t know how close your number is to the highest number (30001 is safer than 30999)
We don’t know the exact EU quota because there is some doubt about how far over 50,000 they will allow the lottery to go this year.
As you can see – even if you understand everything, there is still much we don’t know and it is still a complex question. Which brings me back to “wait and see”.
December 20, 2016 at 11:41
Dear brit

December 20, 2016 at 16:01
Hi Simon,
Eight years ago I went for a 6-week part-time summer course at an American university. Back then this was possible with the visa waiver and I did not need an F-1 student visa. The rules have changed and this university now requires a student visa for its summer students, some other universities still don’t. The State Department website states that the visa waiver program allows “enrollment in a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree (for example, a two-day cooking class while on vacation)”. This course was more than that.
In the DS260 I answered the question for previous U.S. visa with NO as I never needed one. I did however list the university among the educational institutions attended and I am prepared to show the transcript.
Could this cause confusion at the interview? Is this something where I should proactively look for evidence that my stay was perfectly legal? Or am I overthinking things.
Thank you and merry Christmas Simon and I just made another small donation.
December 20, 2016 at 16:24
You are overthinking things. 🙂
You were admitted, you left, no laws were broken, so it’s all fine. I doubt the question will even come up in the interview, but if it does, just state that your understanding was that no visa was required.
December 20, 2016 at 17:57
hi dear Simon,
I have received the below message
You have received this email notification to inform you that you have updates available at http: //www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC. Please log in using your confirmation number from your original application to complete further processing.

December 20, 2016 at 18:24
It is the interview schedule – the 2NL.
December 20, 2016 at 17:59
HI Brit . can the visa be reject for any reason after approved in the interview cuz my visa take until now more than month and a half plus i contacted embassy they didn’t answer .
December 20, 2016 at 18:23
Yes it is possible, but rare. You might have been placed on AP. All you can do is wait for the embassy.
December 20, 2016 at 18:12
Hey Brit,
I have received notification to check the 2NL. African region submitted on May 24 and unlocked twice. when I started checking the site its not responding, its really slow. what could be the reason. sorry for asking early.
thx
December 20, 2016 at 18:21
The site gets a lot of hits at once. Just wait an hour or two and try again.
December 20, 2016 at 18:38
Dear SIMON I just receive MY 2NL
Case number AF000029XX( Ethiopia)
Submitted 4th July
December 20, 2016 at 18:41
Hi Brit. When should I be excepting my second Letter? I am from africa. My case is af201700011xxx and u submitted in September 2016.
December 20, 2016 at 19:54
Not this month, and probably not next month either. Maybe April interview.
December 20, 2016 at 21:24
Hi Simon. After having my visa, I entered in States on 1st of April and leaved in 16th (April). When is the limit I can reenter, without having problems: 1 year after 1st of April, or 1 year after 16th? Thank you
December 20, 2016 at 21:54
16th. But I would not recommend you leave it until the last minute, just in case there are travel delays.
December 20, 2016 at 23:05
Hi Brits, pls when filling the dv 260 form. It’s stated at the address column that temporal residences like vacations should not be included. I have visited the U.S on vacation and stayed less than 3months and Holland on holidays 2months. I did not includ these addresses, but when asked whether I have been in the U.S answered yes. Pls, will this affect me at the interview. I received me 2NL today. Thanks for the good works.

Hi brit
In your opinion, given the recent events in Turkey and the closure of embassies, if this trend continues, is this effective on the interviews and the administrative process and issue visas ?
My c/n +6500
If I change my interview location ،
Does this delay in the time of the interview?
Tanks.
December 21, 2016 at 19:12
The Ankara embassy is only closed for a day (so far). That won’t have much impact. I would suggest you relax and see what happens over the coming weeks.
December 21, 2016 at 20:45
I’m worried about losing time to choice correct Embassy.
I’m worried that if the unrest continues, the opportunity is lost and the decision-making process embassy and things go slower ، And according to my case this loss of time is problematic.
Please help me to choose a right decision.
God bless you
Tanks.

I told you what I suggest. You are free to do something else if you prefer.

Hi Simon,
Hope you are fine.
My wife winner of 2017DV, case number 14xxx, submitted the DS260 in 21 July 2016. And received 2ND letter today 21 December 2016.
Today I’ve found a mistake in my wife form that marriage date was written by mistake 22 December 2012, and the right is 28 December 2012 as it in marriage certificate.
** It’s written right in my form..
I will appreciate your advise me what to do???
Getting and Thanks
December 21, 2016 at 19:17
It’s not a big problem. Just point out the mistake at the interview.

Hello Britt. I have a couple of questions i wish to ask
My case number is 2017AF00030xxx I am in Cameroon.
1) when do you possibly think I can e invited for an interview?
2) what is the interview fee and the VISA fee (just include how much i will need and expenditures related to the visa process)
3) if one of the applicants under a principal applicant died, will it affect the interview process and do we submit the form DS 260 for the diseased person)?
December 22, 2016 at 05:03
1. You are not current for February, maybe March or April – IF you submitted your DS260 early enough. If you have not submitted the DS260 yet there will be a significant delay.
2. $330 for the interview plus the medical cost. Then if approved the Green Card fee will be $220. All that is per person. But the instructions explain costs. Please read the instructions!
3. As long as it is not the principal the case can continue. No DS260 for the deceased person, but the principal should take the death certificate to the interview.
December 23, 2016 at 05:44
thanks a lot Brit. I submitted the DS 260 yesterday .
December 23, 2016 at 05:46
Thanks a lot Brit
I wish to ask if the form ds 260 for the diseased is to be filled?

Hi Mr: BritSimon. I am currently undergraduate and I dont have that much savings to show at the time of the visa interview! But my wife’s father have considerable amount of savings. But we married after the 1NL released. when the time of interview,
1) Is it ok to show wife’s father’s savings since he is willing to give them
2) Or is it ok to transfer the money to my wife’s bank account and show at the interview
3) Or is it ok to transfer the money to my bank account and show them(since I am the winner)
4) are they consider how long the money has been deposited in the bank?
5)since I dont have money and My wife has and we married after the 1NL released will caused to disqualification(thinking I married her because she got the moneys )
we are in love as same university students for 3 years!
Thank You Sir!

1. Read this – britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
2. Any gifted money should be accompanied by a letter saying the money is a non repayable gift.
3. See 2 and 1
4. Yes. They will be suspicious of a transfer made just before the interview. They are not fools.
5. They will want proof of the relationship existing prior to the marriage.
December 22, 2016 at 06:55
Hello Brit, in reply to mimadushanka’s queries, you said he must provide proof of the relationship existing prior to the marriage.
How can that be proving?
1. Can a joint account prior to the marriage be enough?
2. We have pictures together but there are no date tags would that help?
3. Can DV registration for 2015, be a proof though we entered as singles since we were still dating, but I was selected. However the date of entry was the same with 30 minutes time difference. Is it proof enough?
I will be grateful, if you have other suggestions or ideas, to help proove the existing of the relationship prior to marriage will be helpful.
December 22, 2016 at 15:29
If you married AFTER the May announcement, you need to provide this type of proof. Gather anything you think would be helpful. Your ideas are OK. DEtails of trips together, emails/texts. Photos and details of the wedding.
December 22, 2016 at 11:17
Thank You BritSimon!
December 22, 2016 at 12:42
Answer #5; what kind of proof for “the relationship prior to the marriage?
December 22, 2016 at 15:12
Emails, photos of trips, photos of the wedding and so on. Use your imagination.
