bro! complement of the season.
please i want to know is it when i send my DS260 form to KCC, and KCC reply,is that is when they have my informations or the information i provided when i played lottery and won can be automatically sent to embassy?
January 3, 2017 at 21:33
Everything is stored in databases. The embassy will be able to see everything.
January 3, 2017 at 21:22
Hi Brit, I know you can not predict exactly, but in your opinion by your experience and the data you now have on the number of selected, from what number would be at risk SA or to which there is no cause for concern, Your comment SA and Nepal are the ones that could have some concern.
Greetings and a thousand thanks
January 3, 2017 at 22:20
In DV2016 there were 3000 selectees from SA region. All went current – and 1370 people got Green Cards. The SA quota for DV2017 is about 1500.
If my numbers are correct, SA region has about 900/1000 more selectees after the second draw (which almost doubled the selectee count for SA).
So – the first draw numbers will be fine. People in the second draw (at the high end of the second draw specifically) have some reason for concern. So – the highest numbers (possibly the highest 20%). This can only be a VERY APPROXIMATE guess. Time will tell.
However, there is a BIG unknown in all of this. How many of the selectees are from Cuba. DV2015 and DV2016 showed nearly 1500 selectees from Cuba (and less than 500 visas issued). DV2017 showed a massive drop in Cuban selectees (about 493). I suspect they were held back in the first draw somehow. So – if the additional selectees are mainly Cuban that would be significant. Why – because recent history shows the selectee to visas conversion rate for Cubans is around 30%, whereas it is around 70% for Venezuelans for instance. So – 1000 extra Cubans is NOT the same as 1000 extra Venezuelans.
Now perhaps you see why I cannot be sure – even with knowing all the details we can possibly know.
January 3, 2017 at 23:08
Brit, because the% of Cubans achieving GC is so low, something in particular?
January 4, 2017 at 01:04
I don’t know. I suspect the costs and the political situation cause low success rate.
January 3, 2017 at 23:09
I am 2nd lottery of Cuba 14xx and I wanted to know

January 4, 2017 at 10:56
hi dear, i got married in a court(registry). my question is is my married certificate valid in the eyes of the US embassy.
January 4, 2017 at 15:13
The laws vary by country and you haven’t told me the country, but the USA recognizes marriages that are legal in the place where they were performed.
January 4, 2017 at 15:05
HI Simon, please is it possible the Embassy reappoint you after you miss an interview, if you write them with the reason for your missing interview?

January 5, 2017 at 00:30
i failed in interview due to not include my spouse name entry..but i include her on dv260,but visa refused today.i explain him that was a mistake.can i appeal again.pls reply
January 5, 2017 at 01:06
No, there is no appeal possible. You asked me about this in June. I told you, without any uncertainty, that you would be disqualified. I told you that you would be wasting your time to proceed. It’s a pity you didn’t trust my advice. You simply wasted your time and money.

Hello brit, i have one inquiry
i went to india for bachelor study in october 2010 and gave exam of my first year course in june 2011 and i leave that college due to its condition. So i have not anything, any documents about that college since i leave that college by my wish seeing its condition and the college authority didn’t give me any documents stating that i should pay fees of remaining 3 year and then they would give me my documents. So in june 2010 i returned back to my home country nepal, got my certificates again from high school board and went to another college in india in september 2011 , completed my bachelor degree and returned on august 2015. now my questions are:
1) In my DS260 form i didn’t mention about my 2 and half month stay in nepal after june 2011 upto august 2011, in which i got my new certificates and i did admission in another college. I directly wrote from june 2011 to august 2015 i was in place where my new college was. This will bring any problem in my interview?
2) I have documents supporting my india stay from september 2011 to august 2015 so i thing i will be unable to get police certificate for my 8 month stay in india when i was studying in my old college. Is that a problem? What should i do?
3) In interview if they ask me about police certificate for my 8 month stay in india when i was studying in my old college then what should in say? I didn’t complete my bacelor in that college so i thing its not problem. please help me.
January 5, 2017 at 04:20
1. Most likely no problem
2. Most likely no problem
3. If you had read the instructions you would have seen this:
“Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) nationals applying outside India”
So – no problem.
January 6, 2017 at 03:03
Thanks brit. That means i need not require to get indian police ceetificate? Even if c.o ask me in interview i can reply as what you said in answer no. 3 . Is that correct?
January 6, 2017 at 03:51
Yes.
January 7, 2017 at 21:30
Hello Britsimon,
I have my saving in USA Bank. Is it necessary to get the form I-134?
January 7, 2017 at 21:46
If you have at least $10,000per adult, the embassy might be OK with just that. An I-134 reduces risk.
January 5, 2017 at 03:14
Yes .appriciate you..I’m very sad..?Thanking for your reply . I miss my time, money and hopes
January 7, 2017 at 14:42
Did you miss your interview and hoping to be reschedule?
that is my case now, how can we handle this situation?
January 5, 2017 at 07:10
Does anybody have any recent experience with how long processing takes with the CBP Officials on initial entry? We are planning to move over next month and are not sure if a 2 and a half hour connecting time will be enough… Thanks!
January 5, 2017 at 13:36
I usually suggest 3 to 4 hours between flights. 2.5 hours is possible in a small airport, but tight.
January 8, 2017 at 06:00
Thanks very much!
January 5, 2017 at 10:11
Hi mr.brit how are you? I just was wondering if u could plz give us a prediction of March VB for Africa. I will be very glad if you give me a probable prediction.
January 5, 2017 at 13:35
I don’t have a prediction. Wait a few days and you will see the real numbers.
January 5, 2017 at 11:00
hi, i am from Sierra Leone, i got married in a court (registry). so my question is, is my marriage valid in the eyes of the US embassy
January 5, 2017 at 13:34
If the marriage is valid in your country, then yes.
January 5, 2017 at 13:46
Enter your comment here…hi brit, ï am à single bénéficiary from Cameron. do ï need an affidavit of support if ï have already given an address of my relative in my ds260 form
January 5, 2017 at 13:59
In Cameroon they typically accept the host as proof. But, having an I-134 is always safer.
January 5, 2017 at 15:34
Hi Simon,
Thank you for taking your time replying to all the questions!!
I got selected and will have my interview next month. I have a question regarding the timeline: You said, I have to enter within 6 months after visa issurance except the medical exam expires earlier. Doesn’t it alway expire earlier? The medical exam is valid for 6 months after I did it, correct? And I will always have to do it a few weeks before the interview I would think, so I would have to enter latest by end of July, or not? I’m asking because I will have to adjust my vacation plans then (planned to go end of August).
And did I understand correctly, that after I enter – lets say in July – and leave again (because I have to organize things), I will already from July onwards have to pay my taxes in the US even though I still work in my home country?
Thank you very much for a short feedback!
Best
Sabrina
January 5, 2017 at 16:13
I have always said the visa validity is set as 6 months after the medical date.
Taxes will be reported (potentially paid) from the first entry. If you enter on December 31 2017 for instance you would have to file a report for the 2017 year, but pay taxes on income for only 1 day (theoretically).
January 5, 2017 at 15:49
Dear Brit, after my interview has been scheduled i asked embassy to open my ds to add my wife (she is not immigrating with me) i put her details in my ds but some says i need to fill another application for her,can you clarify please?
January 5, 2017 at 16:04
She needs a completed DS260 – that is the application they are talking about. Log in to your DS260 and see if you can add an applicant. If not – ask the embassy for clear instructions.
January 5, 2017 at 15:59
Hi Mr Brit
I have an interview in February. I have 1 question
When I try to register at usvisa-info.com to schedule the interview appointment date , I stucked on the question, select the condition that applies to you
The 2 choice seems ambiguous
1) I have received a Consular interview appointment date from the National Visa Center (NVC), Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), or the Consular Section and I have been instructed to register my appointment on this site.
2) I have received a letter to register or schedule a Diversity lottery visa appointment
Which option should I choose?
Thanks very much for your immense help.
January 5, 2017 at 16:03
I don’t know. Try one of the options option 1 sounds best. You simply need an account, you do not need an appointment.
January 5, 2017 at 23:46
Hi Brit.
I submitted my ds 260 December 2, 2016, when should expect interview?
January 6, 2017 at 01:18
Solely by your submission date it will be April/May at the very earliest. It could even be June. But that assumes your case number is current at that time.
January 6, 2017 at 07:25
My case number is 16xxx, will it be earliest then April/May
January 6, 2017 at 07:41
Hi Brit.
I submitted my ds 260 December 2, 2016, case number 16446, when should I expect interview.
January 6, 2017 at 15:20
May/June
January 6, 2017 at 02:15
Hi Brit!
Happy New year! Please we submitted our DS-260 form in October but don’t know how to check the status. Can you kindly help us with it. Thanks
January 6, 2017 at 03:52
There is nothing to check yet. Your late submission means your DS260 won’t have been processed yet.
January 6, 2017 at 02:27
Hello Btit … I picked up my package yesterday. Thanks for your help biggy. You’ll be rewarded. Accordingly. Keep helping. Thanks once again.
January 6, 2017 at 03:52
Great. Now the frightening part!!!
January 6, 2017 at 07:34
The frightening part. Not understood. Please clarify me.
January 6, 2017 at 15:21
Moving to a new country, starting a new life – that is frightening!!!
January 6, 2017 at 08:10
Hi Brit
Please I fill my DS form with my old passport which I had wanted to get a replacement passport with the correct birth place on the initial entrant form
I did not get the replacement passport and my case has been scheduled for interview
I took the passport to the passport office for the correction and got it today with the correct birth place I used of the DS but different passport number from the one on the DS260
The passport office has also taken hold of the old passport after given me the new one
Now that my new passport number is different from the one on the DS260 and the case has also been scheduled for interview would I be disqualified or I still have to attend the interview with the new passport
Thank you
January 6, 2017 at 15:19
Attend with the new passport. In most countries that would be OK. In Ghana that might result in suspicion.
January 6, 2017 at 17:40
Ok
Tanx
January 6, 2017 at 17:49
But can I write to kcc to inform them about the development before I appear for the interview?
January 6, 2017 at 09:11
Dear Simon
I submitted my ds260 on Oct.23 2016..my case number is AS34XX. please help me to estimate when will i receive 2nl.? thank you and a happy new year.
January 6, 2017 at 15:15
It won’t be a March interview, and probably not April either. Maybe May.
January 6, 2017 at 12:40
After the interview and obtain an entry visa to America Lottery Can departure after the entry of the United States before receiving the green card
January 6, 2017 at 15:04
Yes.
January 6, 2017 at 15:48
Thanks Brit
But How I again enter the United States to receive a Green Card and do you allow me to leave my airport again without Green card or old visa still valid
January 6, 2017 at 17:15
When you enter with the immigrant visa for the first time, they “endorse” the visa and that is then valid for travel for up to 1 year (by which time you would then have the Green Card).
January 6, 2017 at 15:20
Biti please remove my email
January 6, 2017 at 16:34
Haha! Yeah. For sure Brit. Though I’ve not left yet. But there’s that fear. Obviously.
January 6, 2017 at 17:15
Hey Simon, Can I request reschedule because my interview fees (330) for my spouse and I is not enough? my interview is January 10, but my fees is not yet correct. please Simon what can I do?
January 6, 2017 at 17:39
You can ask for a reschedule BUT that should be the last resort as you might have significant delay and some risk.
January 7, 2017 at 01:26

My delivery date of new baby is after a month from my possible interview date, so can I still take my new baby with me if I success my interview. Can you please tell the processes that I need to take
January 7, 2017 at 05:16

Dear Britsimon
I received a letter of my interview from KCC scheduled on February 9 in Kuala Lumpur. When I contacted the U.S. embassy in Kuala Lumpur, they informed me that my interview was postponed until 23rd because the embassy will be closed on 9th. My 2L of interview didn’t change. Do I have to contact KCC? Or just follow the the U.S. embassy in Kuala Lumpur? Please let me know
Thanks very much for your time
January 7, 2017 at 16:52
No need to contact KCC.
January 7, 2017 at 09:59
Hi Brit I submitted my ds260 in August …. And i got married in October…… I didn’t include my spouse….. What will i do to bring her with me….. Shall I take her to the interview….
January 7, 2017 at 16:49
UNlock your DS260, add your spouse to your form and add a DS260 for the spouse.
January 7, 2017 at 11:26
Hi Brit,
Please help, I submitted my Ds 260 application on 29th July 2016 and receive a confirmation but not yet receive my appointment letter for interview.
Could you let me know when should I expect my second letter for interview
January 7, 2017 at 16:48
THat is normal. If your case number is current, you might get a March interview (2NL later this month). If not, April.
January 7, 2017 at 17:14
MY CASE # IS 2017AF00018979 AND MY SUBMISSION WAS JULY 29,2016
January 7, 2017 at 13:43
What happens to the dependent applicants if the primary applicant does not maintain his/her dv(green card) status?
January 7, 2017 at 16:46
Once activated the derivatives GC status is not tied to the principal winner.
January 8, 2017 at 03:26
Thank you for the answer.
January 7, 2017 at 16:40
hello Brit,how are you.
in Uganda’s education, after form six you get you get both a pass slip and a certificate from the national examination board but the slips come first, the certificate come about two years after.
if I count my spouses paper, her certificate will come in late. The problem is she only has a national pass slip from the board yet in our DS260 we indicated a certicficate hoping that it would have come by the interview time…so how or what do we say at interview I.e in February????
January 7, 2017 at 16:43
Take what you have. If it is standard practice, the embassy will be aware of it.
January 7, 2017 at 17:13
Hi Simon, thank you for your advise. I reopened my case and entered my two arrests with NFA.
I wrote you earlier, that i got a caution in UK for “using a false item with indent to decieve” in 2004. What do you think How all these will effect on my case?
Thanks for your answer.
January 7, 2017 at 17:28
I don’t know. The CO will decide.
January 7, 2017 at 17:42
Dear sir,
I submitted my ds260 on Oct.10 2016. but not yet receive my appointment letter for interview.when should I expect interview?
January 7, 2017 at 18:27
Your late submission will cause a delay even if your case number is current. So – expect to wait some months and read my blog posts to see how DS260 processing is progressing.
January 7, 2017 at 19:19
well simon,my fear was da embassy saying why we did we right “certificate “instead of “pass slip ” but me hope no cause for alarm!!
January 7, 2017 at 20:35
Hi Brits, thanks for the good work. A married on 26 of Dec, by church and later proceeded to register at the court on 30th Dec, that same month and year. I have a church marriage certificate and Court marriage certificate. When filling the DS 260 form, I used the Court date, that is 30th. My question is, will be a problem if I present the two certificates at the interview with different dates? God bless you for your good works.
January 7, 2017 at 21:25
No problem.
January 8, 2017 at 00:02
Hi Brit, If a sponsor says .. will provide room and board for six months, and cover some expenses related to job finding, would that be suffiecient to be considered as affidavit of support? Or should I seek for another sponser? Thank you
January 8, 2017 at 01:18
The ideal sponsor is:
1. Someone who meets the income requirements
2. Someone you know
3. States they will provide whatever assistance is needed for as long is needed.
January 8, 2017 at 23:26
Thank you
January 8, 2017 at 08:14

January 8, 2017 at 14:40
You cannot unlock once you have the 2NL so if you need to do it get on with it now.
January 8, 2017 at 14:06
Hello sir…my case number is 75** and I had submitted Ds260 in May….what might be expected month that I will get get my second letter.
January 8, 2017 at 14:38
Your interview will be determined by your case number (including region), so I don’t know because you haven’t told me.
January 8, 2017 at 17:29
hi britsimon
Me and my husband arrived in US on 29th November after DV approval, however we haven’t yet received our GC whereas a friend of mine who entered US in dv Visa on 27th has already received his. can u explain please?
January 8, 2017 at 17:58
There is nothing to explain. You just need to be patient – it can take 3 to 4 months.
January 8, 2017 at 20:21
Hi BritSimon,
My case number is EU30xxx. I have completed the DS-260 form on September (unlocked once). I had a seasonal work as a farmer for a couple of months the last two years before I start my postgraduate studies. Now, I am a full time graduate student. However, in the field of work/education, I did not fill it as “previously employed”, only my current occupation as a MSc student. Is that a problem? Should I unlock the DS-260 to add this?
January 8, 2017 at 20:53
No.
January 9, 2017 at 12:47
I’ve got one more question. Should I get a police certificate from the country I’m doing my masters because it’s a different country from where I used to live. Both countries are in EU. I moved in this country in late September 2016.
January 9, 2017 at 14:26
If it is the country of current residence then yes. The instructions are clear about this. Please read the instructions.
January 9, 2017 at 16:02
Thank you for your time BritSimon. I really appreciate it. I asked you in order to be sure about this since I live in this country less than 12 months.
Last question! I filled out in the DS-260 form as present address the country I live at the moment while in the question “Is your Mailing address the same as Present address?” I chose “NO” and I filled out the address of my home country in which I selected. I think I couldn’t change it because my interview location will be in my home country. Moreover, I was thinking that is the surest address since for this period I live in university accommodation. Also, I don’t want to change the interview location obviously. Can that affect the process of DS-260 to some extent?
Thank you again!
January 9, 2017 at 17:28
The address should be OK.
