Hi simon case.no. 2017AF000262XX when could my appointment in Ethiopia
February 16, 2017 at 14:29
I don’t have a prediction.
February 16, 2017 at 18:27
Dear Simon
Thanks a lot for your advice.
Our visas were approved on interview – for myself and 3 family members as derivatives. We are waiting our passports back in mail.
Is it ok if I make first entry to US just with 1 family member (daughter)? By my plan we’ll leave US in few days and then after few months all family will travel back to States. In this case we probably will not get our GC and SSN at the same time – is it normal?
February 16, 2017 at 18:49
That’s all fine. Just be sure that everyone enters before their visas expire.

February 16, 2017 at 19:29

February 16, 2017 at 20:16
Hi Simon,
I have to obtain a VISA for China as single entry cause I work on cruise ship.. Do I have to add this to my DS260, so unlock it and resend it or it’s not necessary?
Thanks
February 16, 2017 at 21:44
No need to add that.
February 17, 2017 at 04:19
Hello when should my sponsor fill the affidavit of support I-34?
February 17, 2017 at 06:47
It is presented at the interview – so work backwards from that.
February 17, 2017 at 05:26
Hi brit.,
I am a wife dv green card holder , I want to know can I apply conditional green card?
February 17, 2017 at 06:47
A GC holder can sponsor a spouse.
February 17, 2017 at 08:05
Hlo sir……
I am from Nepal and in ur experience is there any record that KDU embassy wants I-134 affidavit ?? TYSM
February 17, 2017 at 14:20
They normally are satisfied with an invitation letter from a sponsor.
February 17, 2017 at 09:17

February 17, 2017 at 14:22
Am affected applicant from Syria , after kcc cancelled my interview in 16 Feb i contacted with US embassy at Jordan and they rescheduled my apponitment at March but the ESC site is still showing my previous appointment .
Is there any problem or thats ok ?
Thanks dear brit
February 17, 2017 at 14:28
Follow what the embassy says.
February 17, 2017 at 16:32
Mr Brit
Please if you receive the 2nl,must you go for the interview on the exact date on the letter without filling apointment form or you have to fill one to confirm your appointment?
February 17, 2017 at 21:13
That varies by embassy. Some embassies want an online registration – but the appointment date is the same regardless.
February 17, 2017 at 22:46
My interview is in Accra Ghana
February 17, 2017 at 19:31

February 17, 2017 at 20:10
Hi Simon
Do you think what happen for our case with Trump new travel ban in next week? I’m very worried.
Thanks
February 17, 2017 at 21:08
I have no idea
February 17, 2017 at 20:51
Do the embassy follow our discussion here, Kcc if so why.
February 17, 2017 at 21:08
KCC know about the blog – but I doubt they “follow” it closely. They are busy people!
February 18, 2017 at 01:34
Hello Simon, I am a 2017 DV winner, my sponsor is confused what to do with the affidavit of support form I-134 after preparing it. Which agency should the document be sent to? Thanks for your usual support.
February 18, 2017 at 02:08
It should be mailed to you, and you present it at the interview. You need supporting documents too – 1040/W2/Payslips and Photo ID
February 18, 2017 at 05:56
We have arrived in the states together as a family! We also paid the $220 green card fees for each family member.
Just one question though. I remember request my social seurity card when filling up the DS-260 online. How do we get our social security card?
February 18, 2017 at 07:16
It normally arrives within about 2 to 3 weeks.
February 18, 2017 at 10:18
2 to 3 weeks after we have arrived in the states?
So we don’t have to go down to the office to request it again?
February 18, 2017 at 14:43
If it doesn’t arrive you would then do that.
February 19, 2017 at 11:24
Thank you!
February 18, 2017 at 07:43
Hi Brit,
Good day to you, my case # AF201714000
I had my interview on 14 Feb 2017 my documents were perfect and and the interview goes very well but I surprised at the end of the interview that the consular gave me back my passports & a paper marked X in front of AP and told me your case is not refused but need to wait for the AP process till finished and they will call back to return my passports by courier, is Do you know how long time AP usually takes? what is the reason for the AP? now, my status for all my family members are ready except me AP, is it good or no? is the AP has a relation about my previous travel to US? Thanks,
February 18, 2017 at 14:48
There are various reasons for AP and it is impossible to predict the length of AP if you don’t know why you are on AP.
February 18, 2017 at 08:20
Hello ,my interview is on 7 march 2017, but right now I feel am not yet ready with my documents, how do I change my interview date with the embassy?
February 18, 2017 at 14:45
My suggestion would be to not change – because it introduces delay and risk. But if you must delay – contact the embassy and see what they say.
February 18, 2017 at 11:25

February 18, 2017 at 18:28

February 18, 2017 at 15:03
Hello Brit,
Please if someone stayed 4 months at an address foreing address for that matter, is it necessary to state in the DS260 form. Since is less than a year.
Thanks in advance
February 18, 2017 at 15:17
I would list a stay of 4 months.
February 18, 2017 at 15:47
Thanks Simon for your swift answers. Wow, that would mean that i need to unlock the ds260 and update it. Moreover,
1. would I need a certificate from the Police?
Anyway the country is United Kingdom, city: Reading.
2. so if I would be needing the police certificate, what is the procedure like?
since you have gone through the procedure yourself as a British.
Ones again, I would appreciate your usual swift response.
February 18, 2017 at 16:10
Read the instructions and the reciprocity page for the UK.
February 18, 2017 at 16:31
Thanks Sir,
have just read, and it says…. Police Records
Available. Immigrant visa applicants who have resided in the United Kingdom for six months or more since the age of sixteen are required to obtain a Police Certificate from the Association of Chief Police Officers Criminal Records Office (ACRO).
So I am exempted from applying for a Police certificate, as my stay was just 4 months.
I am so grateful Simon,
Please advice me if I need to Unlock the DS260 form, and include the the UK address, I submitted the form 4 days ago.
Thanks
February 18, 2017 at 16:52
I already told you what I would do.
February 18, 2017 at 17:11
Right Simon, thanks I shall request for unlocking.
February 18, 2017 at 19:09
Dear Sir,

February 18, 2017 at 21:48
Hello Simon, I m from Nepal … My CN is Around 5555-5580 . Can i hope my 2nd letter in Next Visa Bulletin?
February 18, 2017 at 22:01
I don’t have a prediction.
February 19, 2017 at 11:56
Hi dear Simon
My case number has become now current for April interviews for AF region. So i’m expecting my 2NL in the coming few days and my question is the following, Do you have any information or idea how KCC distribute interviews? what I mean is how they decide that Case should be interviewed on April 8th and that Case on April 21st a,d so on.
I hope you understand my question and I’m waiting your answer. Have a nice day dear 🙂
February 19, 2017 at 15:29
There is no order within the month.
February 19, 2017 at 15:44
So the dates are random?
February 19, 2017 at 16:37
Yes – not to any order that makes sense (case number, date of submission etc). It might have an order that we don’t understand, (alphabetical perhaps).
February 19, 2017 at 12:33
Hi Britsimon
Sir I’m so worried about my case it’s a little bit complicated. well My name was “Karim” and it is written in the Baccalaureate diploma as well as in the Bachelor certificate. but recently I went the court and i have put a request to change my name from “Karim” to “Abdelkarim” and they accepted my request and now in The Passport,ID card, birth certificate and other documents the name is the new one which is “Abdelkrim” but in the Baccalaureate and Bachelor diplomas is still the old one “Karim” which it cannot be changed from them(baccalaureate and Bachelor). Also i have a written report from the court that I have changed my name. my question sir in the day of interview can the CO disqualify my Case because I have two different names? or just translating the report from the court and taking it to the interview can help giving me the visa? please sir i really need your help.
February 19, 2017 at 15:29
Take all the name change proof and it should be OK.
February 19, 2017 at 13:01
Hey Brit,
two questions.
I am from Germany but I am currently absolving an internship in Spain. I’ve requested the Unlock of my DS-260 so I can add the Spanish address and the data of the employer.
If my current address is a Spanish one, will my interview location still be Frankfurt, Germany?
From what I’ve saw in the visa bulletin my interview will be in May or June
Do I need a certificate of good conduct from Spain? I live here since February 23, but I my internship will end in August, so effectively I will spend more than 6 months here. Regarding to the “more than 6 month” regulation would I need a certificate of good conduct even though my interview will be in May or June?
Thanks for your help again, have a nice Sunday!
Greetings Adrian
February 19, 2017 at 15:28
If you provide a Spanish current address they will schedule your interview in Madrid.
You will not need a police cert.
February 19, 2017 at 16:21
Will that cause a huge delay, now that they have to schedule it in Madrid? So I have to get translated all my documents to English now, right?
I’ve wrote KCC to unlock my case about 2 weeks ago and they have not unlocked it so far, should I call them or write them?
Sorry for the extra questions
February 19, 2017 at 16:39
It’s not a huge delay – no delay at all. Yes your docs would need to be in English. It sounds like you should write again (and or call).
February 19, 2017 at 16:49
Ok Brit, thanks a lot
February 19, 2017 at 14:13
Hi Simon,
I’m from Italy and I lived in London for just 5 months in 2013. I got a National insurance number cause I was looking for a job but I never worked there and eventually I had to leave UK. I didn’t have a residence in UK, it was just for a few months.
Should I add that on the ds-260 or it’s not necessary since I didn’t change my residence?
Thanks
February 19, 2017 at 15:27
It should be on your DS260.
February 19, 2017 at 15:36
Ok.
If I unlock it now and re-submit with the change, will that delay the process? (I submitted the form 10 days ago and I’m EU42xx.
Thanks
February 19, 2017 at 16:39
No. You already submitted very late so unlocking now won’t make any difference.
February 19, 2017 at 16:49
Ok. Do you think I will get my interview in time before September?
Case number: 2017EU42xx
Thanks
February 19, 2017 at 19:41
Yes.
February 19, 2017 at 16:52

February 19, 2017 at 20:23
Good Day Dear Simon;
My nephew will travel to Malaysia on 1st of March 2017 (after few days from now),he has an old expired passport with an amendment in the city of birth; yet the country is the same. Shall he take a copy of the old passport along with the new passport ?! Because,he is a Yemeni and Yemen was one of the eight affected countries from old ban to enter USA,his Yemeni friends who won DV in 2017 told him that those who bring new passports issued in the last two years without any exit stamps will undergo FURTHER ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING in the US Embassy. Please, advice us what to do in this situation. Finally, the new City of Birth Amendment is done by the Official Passports & Immigration Authorities in Yemen.
Thank you for your endless help and tremendous efforts replying to all our inquires.
February 19, 2017 at 21:49
He should take all relevant documentation including the old passport. He should make CERTAIN he has all the other documents. That is all he can do.
February 19, 2017 at 20:29

February 20, 2017 at 03:43
Hi Brit,
I am planning to travel USA at end of march but before going to USA we may travel to NEW ZEALAND for a week, will be there any problem? Or do we need to make police check from new zealand?
February 20, 2017 at 05:39
No problem, no police cert needed.
February 20, 2017 at 07:59
Hi Simon ,
Thank you very much for your support , not only to me to everyone here . I have already interviewed and got my visa , I plan to enter to US in early May as visa will expire on 22-May . I will drive from Vancouver to Seattle, I have a few queries
1) Is It ok for DV to enter through land from Canada ?
2) I am from Egypt (Not from the 6 panned country ) & I am Muslim , Is there any risk that immigration officer will not approved my visa with my family?
3) I got Canadian PR just after I received my DV visa stamp , May this effect on the immigration officer decision ?
3)Can I enter through Seattle and I report Green Card Delivery Address in Texas or any other state different than Seattle?
God bless you & your family
February 20, 2017 at 16:29
1. Yes
2. Trump is planning a new Executive order this week. Right now you would have no problem, but if he were to widen the scope of the ban (which is possible) your case would be destroyed. In your position I would be driving to Seattle *today*. Once you are an LPR, you are safe from the bans.
3. No
4. Yes.
February 20, 2017 at 09:00
HI Simon,
when am filling the DS 260 form i see that must enter the address which I will be in the US,but the problem that i have no one in the US. so in this case what should i do ? can I put a PO box address ?
what should i do please just advise me
regards
February 20, 2017 at 16:15
You need a proper US address, not a PO Box. You must use contacts to find an address, and that is where your GC will be sent. You can pick an address now and update it later in the process.
February 20, 2017 at 10:31
SALAM Mr. Simon, Hope you and all family doing fine…
We attended our interview last Thursday 16 February 2017 in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. They took our passports, And our case now is administrative processing because when applying to the DV by mistake we choose wrong country at place of birth (real place of birth is SUDAN by mistake I selected UAE)… That’s the only thing which make our case at AP :'(…
My question is :
* In your opinion, is there a chance for us to get the visa??
** How many days, weeks could AP takes??
Also I appreciate if there is any other advices…
Case no: 2017Af14xxx
Interview date: 16 Feb 2017
Thanks & regards
February 20, 2017 at 16:13
I can’t predict the length of AP or the outcome. Patience.
February 20, 2017 at 11:06
Dear Brit, right now I’m really confused about this document called the Affidavit. Yes, I’ve read some posts about it on USCIS web page and I’m more and more confused. Please, I will like to know if I’m required to present this document at the embassy. I saw a part where certain orphans are concerned by this…I don’t understand that part at all. I lost both parents at a very tender age, it seems I’m concerned by this and I’m hoping to live with an uncle over there in the US.
Secondly, concerning my late parents, after a hard struggle, I finally succeeded in getting a death certificate for my late dad. As for my mum, I was told she didn’t pass away in a hospital and so a random hospital will not grant a death confirmation for the certificate to be produced. Please I will like to know if the absence of the certificate of my late mum can affect my case…
February 20, 2017 at 11:34
Ok, I just carefully read the required documents which we need to bring at the embassy (YDE) and I realized death certificates are not included. But do I still need to take along should in case?
February 20, 2017 at 16:11
If you are a DV selectee they won’t ask for death certificates of your parents. AS to which affidavit you mean – I don’t know. You may mean the I-134. Read the link below.
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
February 20, 2017 at 18:32
Thanks very much for clarifying me more. Yes I’m a DV selectee. I read carefully again and I realized only those who fall under the family category DV lottery cases are required to show an affidavit.
April 10, 2017 at 10:03
Hello Brit, hope you’re doing well. I forgot to print out the 1st NL. And is there anyway to get one again? Because when I log in now, all I get is the 2NL…
April 10, 2017 at 13:39
No, there is not.
February 20, 2017 at 11:40
Dear Simon,
According to your experience, is still the 2017EU266XX a safe case number ?
I have received the 2nd draw notification and I have submitted the DS260 form by the end of October, 2016.
Is your estimation of interview time between April-June current yet?
Thank you.
February 20, 2017 at 16:08

February 20, 2017 at 15:31
My employer is in the us and am in Nigeria he applied for a us green card for me my while the green card is still pending can I travel to Switzerland for a program
February 20, 2017 at 15:59

February 20, 2017 at 15:33
Hello Mrs Simon
I have one question sir please. I’m expecting my 2NL today’s afternoon but I heard that today, USA is celebrating President’s day. I was wondering if KCC will send me the 2NL today even though there is that celebrating?
February 20, 2017 at 15:58
Bo they won’t be sent tpday. They will go sometime this week.
February 20, 2017 at 16:05
Oh really? Can you tell me why Mrs Simon?
February 20, 2017 at 16:37
Federal holiday. And there was no reason to think they were going to be sent on the 20th, so I don’t know why you expected it. Patience.
February 20, 2017 at 16:31
According to your experience, is still the 2017AS55XX a safe case number for Nepal ?
February 20, 2017 at 16:35
yes
February 20, 2017 at 18:35
Dear Simon Thank you again for your support in all aspects
I have also question my visa expires on 13 august 2017 as you said 6 month from medical we went for medical checkups in January 15/2017 the result were given in January 29/2017 our visa expires in August 13 2017 so which date is appropriate or deadline for our case? Just we want to live in our home country till the deadline and we do not want to come back to our home country
February 20, 2017 at 19:13
You must enter the USA prior to the visa expiry date. So – book travel plans to make SURE you enter before then (allow for flight cancellations etc)
February 20, 2017 at 18:52

February 20, 2017 at 22:54
Yes, you are an LPR.
