Hello Brit. i received 2nd letter a few days ago, my case is SA18xx, i have a new born as i have told you before, and i included him in the ds-260 two weeks ago. Now the 2nd letter i received doesn’t included his name. Is necessary for me to contact the embassy or the Kentucky center to check why the letter doesn’t included the new born. i also have the confirmation ds-260 for him. thanks for the information.
March 30, 2017 at 20:55
It is normal tat the 2NL does not included added derivatives.

Hi Simon,
I have just received notification of my pending interview in a couple of months.
I will be getting married before the interview is conducted and have to reschedule due to honeymoon trip.
If I add her on, will she also be required to undertake all pre-interview checklists and would that delay the interview further than if I was to reschedule if I was applying alone.
Thanks in advance,
Desmond
March 30, 2017 at 20:55
Yes she would have to complete the DS260. Your delay in getting married will certainly cause delay in your case.

Good day dear Simon,
My relative did his interview perfectly , yet they returned his passport to him and asked to provide five things : –
1.His travel history for the past 15 years.
2. Names ,dates & places of birth of his siblings .
3. All addresses he has lived at during the past 25 years.
4. Prior passports numbers.
5. Prior jobs during the past 15 years.
My question is :” should he send ID’s copies or just information ?! Second, should be mention a 9 months period travel out of Yemen in 2009 for study purpose ; though he did not mention it in the DS260 or he leave it ?
March 31, 2017 at 06:12
They obviously know there are some missing details, and are giving him a chance to provide truthful and accurate information. He should do exactly that.
March 31, 2017 at 09:58
Hi Brit! would you please tell me that how many visa had gone from Nepal? IS there any possibility for case 75** from first draw?
March 31, 2017 at 12:55
I don’t know, you will have to wait and see.
March 31, 2017 at 15:43
Hi Brit what is the latest time for a Dv winner in Sierra Leone to post DS260 form.
March 31, 2017 at 15:47
It’s irrelevant where you are from – I recommend no later than early May submission.
March 31, 2017 at 17:54
Hi Mr. Brit.,
Please could help me with list of document one may need if he wants to go to the interview and qualify by education.
Thanks in advance
March 31, 2017 at 18:15
They will want to see all you education documents but most importantly secondary level and above.

Hi Dear brit
1 Is it a must for everyone to have an affidavit on interview day?
2 can someone go to texas and got an affidavit from someone who’s in Washington
If yes
Would you send me the new version of affidavit Sir ?
3 I am from Congo residing in south africa i am not using a passport im using a asylam but i do have a new passport there is no visa
….can it cause me a problem as there is no visa in? Thanks
March 31, 2017 at 18:44
1. Some embassies ask for it all the time, others rarely ask for it. It depends on the candidate.
2. Google I-134
3. I don’t know how the embassy will handle that.
March 31, 2017 at 18:56
Thanks Dear brit
March 31, 2017 at 19:46
I tiger ,I am from congo too
Yes you must have an affidavit on the day for interview

Dear Brit;
Please help me out.
I send on my career profile on the internet since last week when i arrive the US.
Some many calls to me wanting to sponsor me grow in Education on the hospitality management which i have a diploma after my high school Education in Cameroon.
From the conversation,i understand they might grant me a school fee loan to pursue my career.please clarify me on;
1 How convenient is it for me if i get a school fee loan as a new LPR.
2 I desire to study online so that i can get some few hours to work and support my family of 4
Simon, your advise is so worthy to new immigrants.Like you say,i do not want to get myself traped in any situation that might call for future regret in the US.I DO NOT LIKE TO BORROW ANYTHING FROM ANYONE IN THE US.But at the same time i do want to maximize the most any opportunity that come my way to maximize my standard of life since i am blessed to get the green card. Most of this can only come through the US recognized Education and their certificates.
please tell me what best to do DEAR BRITSIMON
March 31, 2017 at 20:31
1. I don’t know. But think carefully about getting into debt.
2. You need to use your own judgement.
As a general point. By putting your name on the job boards you are now getting contacted by some people. SOME will be genuinely looking to hire people. Others will be looking to sell you something. They are good at their jobs and will make it sound very attractive to pay them for some course. Not everyone will have your best interests in mind…. just be careful.
March 31, 2017 at 21:34
Thank Sir,noted.
March 31, 2017 at 20:12

2.in what way I pay?is possible to pay weastern union?
March 31, 2017 at 20:38
1. Yes
2. It is paid on the internet. Instructions are provided by the embassy.
April 1, 2017 at 03:47
Hi Simon,
I should get my interview around July/August. Since all cases are current (I also have a low case number) do you think rescheduling my interview a few days later will be a problem?
Thanks
April 1, 2017 at 06:13
Yes. It may not be possible to get it just a “few days later”.
April 1, 2017 at 15:25
Ok, thanks.
One more question..Regarding the last 5 US visits, since I am a crew member on a cruise ship and I have been several times on US soil as crew member on transit (VISA C1/D) but just for a day or 2, do I have to add every single time or just put the times that I actually went there as a visitor(by plane) ?
Thanks
April 1, 2017 at 16:01
Use your best judgement.
April 2, 2017 at 02:34
Ok. I sent my ds260 one month ago. Is it too late to unlock it now?
Thank
April 2, 2017 at 13:46
No
April 3, 2017 at 03:57
Hi Simon,
At this point would you suggest to unlock it to modify the last 5 visits and add the ones with Visa or leave it with just the visits as visitor? Will it cause any problems?
Thanks
April 3, 2017 at 04:11
Again -you decide.
April 1, 2017 at 09:43
Hi Britt,
We have our visa interview scheduled for the 2nd of May and I am the principal applicant. I am thinking of travelling first should we be successful then my husband and son to travel later but within the valid period. Is there any risk in that? What are your thoughts?
April 1, 2017 at 14:02
No problem.
April 1, 2017 at 09:52
Hello simon I lived in Italy for 5months attending class for my masters studies.
My issue is do I need to obtain a police report from Italy mindful of the fact that the US DV WEBSITE http://www.traval.gov provides that one has to have been above 16years resident in a country for 12months or more to provide the police report .this detail of time of resident is not mentioned in the yaounde cameroon embassy instruction but simple request one provide police report from current and previous resident . await your prompt response
April 1, 2017 at 14:02
Strictly speaking, no you do not need a police cert from Italy if your stay was only 5 months. However, if the embassy asks for it, you will need to provide it. So then your case will be on AP while you obtain it. So – it’s up to you whether to get the report or not just so you can avoid the risk of delay.
April 1, 2017 at 11:29
Hello Simon how was everything going on? I have one question here.
1.When i filled ds 260 my work exprience is office manger but the real is am government office leader so may it create problem the difference between office manager and leader? A little worried.please reply me if u are free
April 1, 2017 at 13:58
It may make a difference if you are not qualified through educational (and therefore are trying to qualify by work experience).
April 1, 2017 at 11:51
Hello Brit
I won the dv lottery and I was interviewed some weeks ago.. I was told to bring a copy of my wife green card which I did the same week… Some days back I was called by the embassy to drop my passport. Is it possible for me to get the visa on my next calling?
April 1, 2017 at 13:57
Probably.
April 1, 2017 at 14:12
Dear brit
Hi, for the next month my wife (principle applicant) and I are supposed to attend the interview. Regarding the documents we need to take, there is a print of our account statement that proves we can afford the costs in US. I’m wondering if the money should be in priciple applicant account (my wife) OR it should be in my account ( As the husband ) or we should take two seperate bank account prints for each one? How does that work and what do u recommend us to do in that regard? Thanks.
April 1, 2017 at 14:47
It doesn’t matter. One statement or two….
April 1, 2017 at 14:14
Hi BritSimon,
I have received my 2NL scheduling my interview for May. However, going through my DS260, I realised that:
1. when I completed the DS260, I provided my employer’s old address. My employer has recently moved office
2. I did not provide any information about my elementary school. I have only do so for secondary schoo
Would I be able to and should I contact the embassy in London to amend this? Would this jeopardize my application?
Many thanks in advance
April 1, 2017 at 14:46
No problem. Relax.
April 1, 2017 at 15:10
Thanks, but should I contact the embassy to edit these info or just leave it until the interview?
April 1, 2017 at 16:02
Do nothing.
April 1, 2017 at 15:27
Hello dear Simon,
Hope all is well with your end!
What are the risks & challenges if the DV2 (derivative ) family member can travel to US prior from the principal?
With Best,
April 1, 2017 at 16:01
The DV2 CANNOT enter the USA for the activation trip unless accompanied by the DV1, or the DV1 has already activated.
April 1, 2017 at 15:40
Hello Simon how was everything going on? I have one question here.
1.When i filled ds 260 my work exprience is office manger but the real is am government office leader so may it create problem the difference between office manager and leader? But i qualify by education coz of am degree holder.

April 1, 2017 at 16:22
Hi Simon. Just I have another question please. Which one do you recommend. Having a Sponsor or having certain amount of money in my bank account? Thanks Simon
April 1, 2017 at 19:49
A genuine sponsor is best.
April 1, 2017 at 19:52
Thnks so much :))
April 1, 2017 at 20:05
Hi Brit. I am thankful you are here to help. My wife (PA) has only two names in passport and national ID. I.e AAA BBB. DS260 has these two only.
We included the FFF as the Alias in DS260 where FFF is her fatherโs. In the DS260 we forgot to include HHH as Alias where HHH is my name. However in our sonโs birt certicate her name has been mistakenly included with mine. I.e. Mother entry in the birth cert has been shown as AAA BBB HHH. HHH is my middle name but not one of alias for wife in DS260. Quiz. 1 Do we change birth Cert to have correct mother name i.e to remove HHH entry. First two names are correct or 2. We request embassy to unlock DS260 for us to add alias.? 3. Will this affect us at interview ? Thanks
April 1, 2017 at 20:31
Procedures, such as changing birth certificates, vary by country. So you need to use your own judgement.
April 1, 2017 at 21:06
Hi,
I have a question regarding the 50,000 cap – if someone was scheduled for a consular interview in July/August/September (say in Australia), is there any real chance that they would be denied purely because of the cap?
That is, assuming no issues with eligibility or administrative processing, are you pretty much assured of being approved once scheduled?
April 2, 2017 at 13:52
Typically that would not be a problem, although some years have seen interviews cancelled when visas maxed out. That will not happen in OC region this year.
April 1, 2017 at 22:01
Hi great Simon,
I am dv winner from Sudan, My Case no AF30XXX
I submitted my ds 260 on 8 June 2016 and I unlocked the Form on July and resubmited again on 27 July 2016,
Yesterday on midnight most of Sudanese dv winner
Received the 2NL even who’s holding numbers over 42Xxx and submitted the ds on NOV 2016
Unfortunately until now I am not received 2NL please can you advice me
April 2, 2017 at 13:49
My advice is to be patient.
April 2, 2017 at 03:22
Hello Simon,
When o submit my aplication for dv lottery i showed masters degree as my highest level of education. actually, i have basic education certificate from 1988-1996, general education 1996-1997 where i have finished 2 classes in one year with intensive study , 5 years study bachelor degree in world economy and 2 years masters in finance.
The thing is i have doubt that the CO would not consider my general education as two year was finished in one year.
What do you think about this issue? Do i have the reason to fear to be diaqualified?
April 2, 2017 at 13:46
No.
April 2, 2017 at 14:55
Thank you Simon, just to clarify,
1. So you say that quick graduation from highschool is not the reason for disqualification. In my case i have studied total 10 years instead of 11 which equalent to amerikan highschool.
2. Sorry for double asking, i qualify on experience as well, but as you said it is more difficult. I wanted to tell the assistant of the CO while collecting the document, to take my docs proving the job experience. Do you think i do not have to bother about it much and leave it as i qualify through education?
April 2, 2017 at 15:09
1. The further education would normally help meet the standard (although some COs have been know to be picky).
2. Prepare for both education and work experience proof if you want.
April 2, 2017 at 15:21
Thank you so much,
One more thing, what do you suggest, should i tell about my job experience to the assistant while handing the docs (because they do not except any docs for job experience as i heard) or should i mention about it to the CO according to the conversation while the interview?
April 2, 2017 at 08:08
Hi,
Several months ago I asked your opinion about dob error in electronic entry. The primary applicant’s right dob is a/b/1989. In the electronic entry it was b/a/1989. In DS260 the dob was corrected as you advised. They just got their visas. No questions asked about the error at the interview. The interview was in Yerevan, Armenia. I just wanted you to be informed about this. Thank you.
April 2, 2017 at 13:43
Great.
April 2, 2017 at 12:08
Hello Simon

April 2, 2017 at 12:11
Hello . Sorry for the bad spellings. I meant to ask is does my sponsor have to be a US citizen. He’s a permanent resident living in US for the past 5 years . However he is not a citizen yet . Can he sponsor me
April 2, 2017 at 13:42
Yes
April 2, 2017 at 13:20
ciao Brit,
thank you for your time.
here my case: we have our interview at the end of May, Italy. my husband is the winner and I’m pregnant. I’m worrying about the vaccinations, cause I have not the measles/mumbs/rubella.
I have done measles and rubella, so I have these antibodies, but not the third one. and I can’t do it now…
so, two questions:
– should I prove with a blood exam that I already have those antibodies?
– the fact that I cannot do mumbs in this moment, could be a problem?
please let me know..
have a great day,
elis
April 2, 2017 at 13:38
This is something you should discuss with the physician.
April 2, 2017 at 13:41
tomorrow I will call…
thank you

Dear brit
I just want to know

April 2, 2017 at 15:09
Follow instructions sent in the 2NL or sent by the embassy.
April 2, 2017 at 15:50
Dear brit
I cant see exactly where to follow
The instructions on my 2NL and the embassy are not yet sending me
April 2, 2017 at 16:03
So until you are told to do something you do nothing.
April 2, 2017 at 15:22
Hi brit, hope you are good
I wanted to ask is the location of an interview important ? For example

April 2, 2017 at 17:28

Dear brit :
I got my visa 14 march and arrived to US 15 march
At interview they took my bank statement document with 15.000 $
I paid for the GC and didnt recieve yet
Do i have to do FBAR for this year ? Or any other filing docs ?
Thank u sir
April 2, 2017 at 18:39
Nothing for this year. Next year.
April 2, 2017 at 19:22
Hi Simon,
I hope everything is good with you!
I am preparing for my interview and have some questions about it.
1. What kind of question might they ask?
2. I have a boyfriend in LA, I heard that for nonimmigrant visa application that is not a good thing (meaning you might stay on an nonimmigrant visa) but the diversity visa is an immigrant visa, is it beneficial to tell them that I have an american boyfriend or should I not mention him?
3. My third question is about proving that i will not be a public of charge. I have more than 10 000dollars but I am moving to LA which is an expensive city. Do they make “calculations” on the cost of living in LA and the amount of money you have or will over 10 000 dollar be enough?
Best,
m
April 3, 2017 at 03:40
1. Just basic questions about your documents. Nothing to worry about.
2. It doesn’t matter either way.
3. An I-134 would be better.
April 2, 2017 at 21:46
hello dear Brit
i got my email for the interview. it’s scheduled for September 30th. i’m from Iran, what do you think i should do?
would you please give me some advice !? do i spend time, money and energy? or it would only be a waste?
thank you
April 3, 2017 at 03:38
That is bizarre! Why are the scheduling for 9/30 at this point. That must be a mistake. Contact the embassy.
As for whether it is worth it – well if you worked for the Iranian government/military then there is a high chance on AP – and obviously Sept 30 leaves no time for AP.
April 3, 2017 at 09:11
no i’ve never worked for government nor military at any level, i’m a computer engineer a very normal iranian citizen. but alright i’ll contact the embassy.
thanks bro
April 2, 2017 at 23:05
Hi brit
i studied master degree for 2 years but i didn’t complete (abandon) my studies and i didn’t include this in ds260,
i just included my bachlor’s degree.

April 3, 2017 at 03:32
No
April 3, 2017 at 06:52
Hi Simon,
thank God;I got my 2NL my interview will be first week of may
1. is better starting a further process from know?
2.what CO will ask me during interview? and is US embassy Ethiopia need I-134 form, payslip, w2/1040?
thanks
April 3, 2017 at 13:53
1. Start preparing documents, police certs, and medicals – yes.
2. Don’t worry about questions, they are simple.
3. Ethiopia sometimes ask for the I-134.
April 3, 2017 at 08:58
Hi dear. Thanks for helping hands. Please how can I know if am current or not. I have submitted my ds260

Hello when April 2017 visa bulletin current? Today 3 April and still April visa bulletin is up coming
April 3, 2017 at 13:47
When does it normally get released?
April 3, 2017 at 10:00
Hello Brit,
Me and my husband are to attend our interview on the first week of May but he,s seriously sick right now and has been admitted in hospital so I really don’t know if he’ll recover before the date for our interview.
However, If it happens that he’s not able to make it to the interview on that day, is it possible for him to be scheduled for another interview this year as I’m the principal applicant or will he miss the chance to get a visa for the DV 2017 year.
Thanks and may God continue to guide and protect you and your entire family.
April 3, 2017 at 13:46
That is up to the embassy. You need to ask them.
April 3, 2017 at 10:42
Hi Britsimon
my Interview finished on 9 th March and during interview time i requested to bring My Wife Also, they given related letter and arrange my wife interview on next Monday
when will i expect my visa? ( i given all document )
how long been taken the visa ( i want to wait more a month )
April 3, 2017 at 13:44
Obviously you did something unusual as your wife would normally have interviewed with you. So – I don’t know how long it will take. The visa is normally valid for 6 months after the date of the medical.
April 3, 2017 at 14:40
hello am Daniel and I want to know whether an application that was completed and submitted in December has been scheduled for appointment.
April 3, 2017 at 15:01
Yes some have.
April 3, 2017 at 15:26
simon, it has been a week since I received my 2nl, but my CEAC status is still IN TRANSIT. Is it ok ?or I need to worry about
April 3, 2017 at 15:30
No worries. Some embassies forget to update CEAC – that’s all.
April 3, 2017 at 15:34
thanks sir, you are such a precious human being. I hope I can reward your kindness with some donation after I get my visa. Thanks again
April 4, 2017 at 04:03
Hi Brit,
Our visas were issued on Dec 6th 2016. Do we have to pay 165 or 220 for the USCIS immigrant Fees?
April 4, 2017 at 04:19
220
April 4, 2017 at 06:42
Hi Brit ,my wife and I got our visa last Thursday, but the problem is,in my passport my visa expire sept 10th 2017,but in my passport is June 10th 2017..so why is it like that, can you please tell me
April 4, 2017 at 12:37
I don’t know.
April 4, 2017 at 07:38
Evening Simon ๐
Am registering my appointment at the embassy of Jordan as stated in the pdf the DV site offers
but it is asking for “priority date” which is according to google is “For family-sponsored applicants, the priority date is the date an immigration petition, filed on behalf of him or her, is received by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).”
so what is it in our case ? is it the date we filled the ds-260 or what exactly :S
and they are asking for case id.. is it the case number ?
finally I would like to ask you if Amman embassy asks for I-134 do you have any info ?
Much appreciated Simon ๐
you are literally a god send.
April 4, 2017 at 12:36
You don’t have a priority date. That is for a different type of case.
I don’t know if Amman asks for the I-134 – but assume yes.
April 4, 2017 at 08:59
hello!
I have a problem please. I won the DV lottery when I was in Cameroon. but i settled in Congo DRC, and filled my DS 260 accordingly by mentioning interview location : Congo., but in the 2NL, it’s mentionned Yaounde. in only one month. I’m not alone, I have all my family included.
plus, I have a newborn baby, what should I do?
my case number is 2017AF0008**
April 4, 2017 at 12:35
They base the interview location on current address. So – since you have been scheduled, if you need to change location you now need to deal with the embassy. You will also need to arrange to add the baby to your case (you will need a birth cert, passport and medical for the child and will need to complete a DS260). Contact the embassy.
April 4, 2017 at 09:52
Hello brit
Thanks to your info and ideas i already got my visa and am ready to travel. And i want to ask you abt the green card payments how much is it for me and my husband? and is it ok if my sponser to pay it before i reach to the US?
Once again thanks
April 4, 2017 at 12:33
$220 each. You can pay before or after arrival in USA.The embassy gives you instructions.
April 4, 2017 at 11:00
Hi Simon. Would you please tell me how long it takes for my Sponsor to prepare the Affidavit form and send it to me ? Because I have less than a month to go to the interview. Thanks in advance.

It takes a few minutes to prepare. To send it – I don’t know, I’m not a international mail expert.

lol, No I meant to prepare the Affidavit documents, because the person who is my sponsor, needs to go to offices personally as far as I know. and I wanted to know how long the procedure takes. I will appreciate if you answer to this. sorry for always bothering you

The sponsor doesn’t need to go anywhere.

Dear Simon,
I was wondering if upon receiving (or not) the new immigrant visa (through the DV Lottery) the status of my B1/B2 Visa will change. It is a multientry visa valid for 2 more years. As I am a derivative, I don’t know if it’d be possible for me to travel to the US before my wife to make arrangements for our move later on.
Thanks in advance!

When you are given the DV visa, the B1/B2 becomes invalid and is deemed revoked. You cannot enter before your wife as she is the principal selectee.

Thank you! Would that also mean a termination of my B1/B2 visa in the case of a DV denial?
