More odd happenings.
The normal behavior for the release of the 2NLs is that the 2NLs are sent and CEAC is dated later – often within an hour or so of the 2NLs being sent. This month, the 2NL emails have not yet been sent, but the CEAC system is showing many cases with “in Transit” which is how the cases appear before the embassy marks the case as received.
So – if you are waiting for your 2NL, you might find some comfort by checking the CEAC data to see if you case is “in Transit”.
The technical problems appear to be not yet completely fixed, but some embassies have been “reconnected – meaning they are getting closer to fixing the entire system.
June 23, 2015 at 03:53
Yea britsimon my case get change to”in transit”but i didnt get the 2nl yet so wot i have to do?
June 23, 2015 at 05:07
You don’t have to do ANYTHING. just wait…
June 23, 2015 at 04:00
i’m in transit now! i don’t understand what you mean about the hour after the 2NL are sent. thank you brit!
June 23, 2015 at 05:08
The 1 hour comment was about the “normal” process – but the fact that they have updated case to in TRansit but NOT sent the 2NLs is unusual.
June 23, 2015 at 11:26
ah, ok. I understand now! I’m in transit and says that my “interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.” i haven’t received anything yet, i suppose that we have to wait a little more. As soon I receive the 2NL i’ll tell you!! 🙂
June 23, 2015 at 20:04
Hi Brit, it’s me again! i’m already “Ready”.
So, just waiting for the 2NLs! when do you think i’ll receive it?
June 23, 2015 at 22:04
within a few days
June 23, 2015 at 04:29

June 23, 2015 at 05:09
Probably tomorrow.
June 23, 2015 at 05:01
how i can check my number please
June 23, 2015 at 05:10
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
enter you number without leading zeros.
So – your number would be entered something like 2015AF1223
June 23, 2015 at 08:53
This is the message came from checking in tranite
Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.
June 23, 2015 at 05:27
Thanks britsimon,my case now shows in transit…
June 23, 2015 at 05:34
Hi Simon,
Thanks for info!
my case is also in transit, but I have not received 2nl. Do you mean that everyone is in the same situation?
And do you think 2nl may come out today?
June 23, 2015 at 05:41
Yes everyone is in the same situation.
2NLs might come today – maybe….
June 23, 2015 at 05:57
Hi, where should I check? When I enter my case number the site tells me that the number is invalid. My 1st letter also hasn’t been replaced by the 2nd one…
June 23, 2015 at 06:43
take out the leading zeros.
June 23, 2015 at 05:59
Oh yes I just saw your previous comment, I now entered my number without zeros and saw that my case is in transit.
June 23, 2015 at 06:18
I called KCC yesterday and they told me that my case is scheduling right now, but is not scheduled yet ((( and the 2nl will be sent once the date of interview is scheduled, by the end of current month…
My CN is 37*** (close to 38), WRW, ceac status is still AT NVC…
June 23, 2015 at 06:43
interesting. When did you send in your DS260?
June 23, 2015 at 07:09
08.12.2014 – main app., spouse and a child
than the ds of the main applicant was changed (school added) and re-completed on 16/12/2014
June 23, 2015 at 06:39
Hello Simon, thanks a great deal. I’ve learnt a lot on ur posts such that most of my doubts are clarified. But I made some mistakes in filling ma ds260 for dv 2016,and mistakenly submitted without filling ma spouse information.e_mailed KCC to unlock a couple of days now,and was replied that KCC is experiencing technical problems but did not tell me my request was seen and they will get to me.ma husband and I are so disturbed.
June 23, 2015 at 06:44
Give them some time – they are very busy right now.
June 23, 2015 at 14:15
If you need to add an application for a derivative, I don’t think you need to unlock the principal’s application. Just click “add applicant”.
If you need to make changes about your spouse in your application, than you need to unlock it.
June 23, 2015 at 17:23
Normally to add an applicant requires a change to the principal selectee also – so unlocking is normally required.
June 23, 2015 at 06:46
Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.
This is ok?
June 23, 2015 at 07:17

June 23, 2015 at 09:08
Thanks Simon..I was ” in transit ” and after one hour changed to ” Ready ”
Thanks a lot
June 23, 2015 at 14:07
Great – the embassy received your case already
June 23, 2015 at 11:11
Hi Brit.
With the early release of the ceac status you have adequate time to make adjustment on the post Am I safe hope I am correct
June 23, 2015 at 14:03
I will not be doing that. It is not about having time – it is about what I feel comfortable with in terms of posting predictions.
Let’s wait until the final VB – less than 3 weeks.
June 23, 2015 at 11:14
brit sir
i checked the CEAC data system it shows my case number is ” Ready” sir what does it mean and when will i get second letter ?
June 23, 2015 at 14:01
It means your embassy have marked the case as ready for interview. You should get the 2NL within a few days.
June 23, 2015 at 11:26
HI Brit what does it when when i check my case status website and it pops up a small window showing at NVC…so does it change from NVC to In TRANSIT when my case number is current…..another question is that can u see any jump to like 71k in AF cases in the final visa bulletin what do u think about that…
June 23, 2015 at 14:00
Until you are scheduled it shows at NVC.
No I don’t think we will see a jump to 71K.
June 23, 2015 at 12:08
I am very sad ..my number 70500 …. sad to live dreams and actually reverse the hope that lay ahead . My dream ended :/
June 23, 2015 at 13:58
You can try again….
June 23, 2015 at 12:30
Hi Brit.i’m carrunt for august.tel me how to see if i’m in transit or no?
June 23, 2015 at 13:04
Follow the following link without the leading zeros:
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
For instance, if your case number is:
2015AF00038000 enter it as follows:
2015AF38000
June 23, 2015 at 14:09
Hi pls i am 2016 winner ,but i play as single and now i want to add my son but i did not married her mother.its that possible?
June 23, 2015 at 16:22
That will be a complete denier for you the rules are clear about that. So there is nothing you can do just let your case remain as it
June 23, 2015 at 17:27
Shedrick, I’m sorry my friend, that is not accurate/good advice. Let’s leave the advice to me.
June 26, 2015 at 07:06
Sorry senior brother, i did not mean to steel your show, was a bit of set to notic that after you have provided a clear explanation on issue member of this educative forum will be re asking such a question
June 27, 2015 at 15:27
LOL – it isn’t “my show” and I don’t mind people helping at all – we just need to be clear and accurate.
June 23, 2015 at 17:11
You can marry the mother, yes. However, if your son was born already and you did not list your son in your original entry, then you will be denied.
June 23, 2015 at 14:23
Are you sure they do not reach to the number 71000 !!!! plz Answer me, I am very concerned
June 23, 2015 at 17:21
Pretty much 100% sure.
June 23, 2015 at 14:57
Hi can i be interview in august my cn is 46000 and i sent my ds 260 july 27 2014.pls
June 23, 2015 at 17:21
Not August, September.
June 23, 2015 at 15:30
what do you mean that case IN TRANSIT and how do you do to know that thnxxx
June 23, 2015 at 17:18
in TRansit means someone who is getting the 2nl. THe case is being passed from KCC to the embassy.
THat data comes from the CEAC data – an official source of data.
June 23, 2015 at 15:35
Mimi just pray for nothing is imposible withr God have faith and it shall be well with u
June 23, 2015 at 15:55
simon, thank you for your hard work done so far. my cn is af65xxx. when i check the ceac will i see transit or nvc? 2. do you think with the high amount of letter in transit the will be a high jump in the last vb?
June 23, 2015 at 17:11
YOu are not current – so you would see at NVC.
June 23, 2015 at 17:09
a friend just told me that he looked the data today and there are only 1708 CN those going on in August 2889. With this increase did kcc expect the quota for africa 20500 or 21000 ??? Can we see 20K for next VB??
June 23, 2015 at 17:26
I’m not sure I understand your points.
Can we see 20k for next VB. Maybe – but that will be quite hard for the embassies to cope with that level of work…
I have explained that here:-
https://britsimonsays.com/am-i-safe/
June 23, 2015 at 17:17
I called the KCC and they gave me the interview date.
June 23, 2015 at 19:06
Hi Omid – can you share the phone number for KCC? I will call them as well to find out for my interview date.
June 23, 2015 at 19:43
606-526-7500
June 23, 2015 at 22:07
I am mystified why people feel the need to call KCC (who must be busy) to find out a date for August. IN a couple of days the 2NLs will go out – and it is still June!
June 23, 2015 at 22:35
Well there at least one legitimate reason to do so. I had to call them and ask about my interview date (August 10th), because I have to go back to my country for the interview. The tickets are very expensive during this period, waiting a couple of days more will make the air fare more expensive. As of now, a round trip for me and my wife is around $3,400 total!!
June 24, 2015 at 00:01
Simon
This could be explained in many ways, many of them may not sound rational. 1. Some people like me are just too impatient n can’t wait few more days to see the actual letter 2. It’s the peak of travel season and ticket prices go up everyday, it’s better to make plans ASAP. 3. Though maybe unrelated, but with recent failures in systems, anything is possible. So if we don’t see letters by the end of this week I won’t be surprised
June 24, 2015 at 00:03
I think it is about 90% scenario 1…
June 23, 2015 at 17:45
Hello Britsimon
I read in some forum that the winner who had interview on july gonna recieve 2nl this month and who had interview on august gonna recieve 2nl next month 25/07.
is this right?
how long u think we should wait 2nl?
do u think our status gonna get change from “in transit” to ” ready” when we get 2nl
Thanks in advance
June 23, 2015 at 18:11
Should all current numbers for August already get an update? I just checked my CEAC status and it’s still “At NVC”. My case number is EU38xxx/WRW, and I’ve submitted ds260 in July 2014. Should I call KCC or just wait till tomorrow?
June 23, 2015 at 22:45
I would wait until you hear that 2NLs are going out but in your scenario I could understand why you might want to give them a call.
June 24, 2015 at 14:41
OK, I’ve called them and I was told to expect a 2NL within a week.
June 23, 2015 at 19:52
Hi Brit, should I go ahead and add applicant after haven submitted ds260? is it going to be OK? or should I re e_mail KCC? and my CN is 2016AF279XX when will I possibly be interviewed?
June 23, 2015 at 22:06
If you have already submitted you will need to unlock to make sure each DS260 is accurate – including referencing the new derivative.
June 23, 2015 at 20:19
Britsimon
should we all call kcc to tell us when we have the visa interview or what?
June 23, 2015 at 22:03
No – just wait a couple of days – let KCC do their job…
June 23, 2015 at 21:26
HI Mr;SIMON
How much time Usually between VISA bulletin and the second letter?
my case n AF 387XX
June 23, 2015 at 22:03
1 to 2 weeks normally
June 23, 2015 at 23:15
Hi Brit,
4 Questions
1. Do you know the current response rate for AF?
2. Derivative rate?
3. How many visas remain for AF?
4. Does your “am i safe” prediction still look accurate?
Thank-you again!
June 24, 2015 at 05:06
My interview was held and my visa was approved ,but the CEAC site still says that you schedule the interview and prepare for it and it also mentions that case was updated 24 June . Is this normal or is there any thing I should do ?
June 24, 2015 at 05:24
There is a worldwide technical issue with issuing visas. You may be slightly delayed in getting yours. But there is nothing you need to do.
June 24, 2015 at 05:28
hi Simon,
why is it for some August interviewees the status has become “ready”, but for others it is still “in transit”. is it normal?
June 24, 2015 at 05:32
Yes that is normal. Each embassy marks their cases as received. Some do that fast, others don’t
June 24, 2015 at 05:36
thanks, Simon!
June 24, 2015 at 06:22
Do you know whether the CAEC database is updated by one “person” (KCC for example) based on the information provided by embassies, or it is updated by KCC and every embassy together?
I mean at what time CEAC gets updated – in working hours of KCC only or it may be updated in embassies’ working hours?
June 24, 2015 at 16:28
KCC populate the system and mark the case “in TRansit” when the interview is scheduled. Once the case is at the embassy, they update locally.
June 24, 2015 at 07:45
My status changed to Ready
June 24, 2015 at 07:49
What country are you in?
June 24, 2015 at 10:07
Aida whath is your case nimber?
June 24, 2015 at 09:11
Hello Brit
How u today, hope cool.Brit what is the difference btw “NVC”, “in transit” n “Ready”?I also wanted to find out how much is to be paid for the green card?thanks
June 24, 2015 at 16:21
NVC is the starting status. IN transit is when KCC have scheduled the interview and “send” the case to the embassy. REady is when the embassy mark the case as received.
June 24, 2015 at 12:13
Hi brit
Pleaz still have a some chance with my cn 2015af000598xx .thank
June 24, 2015 at 16:15
https://britsimonsays.com/am-i-safe/
June 24, 2015 at 12:37
hi simon
I know the difference between IN TRANSIT and READY please, on my case we write IN TRANSIT it mean what ?.
June 24, 2015 at 16:14
In transit is when KCC mark your file as being passed to the embassy, READY is when the embassy acknowledge your case.
June 24, 2015 at 12:46
hi simon
I just checked again, I am now READY
June 24, 2015 at 13:25
hi, brit
one question.
is it required to be a closer friend to our sponsor?
June 24, 2015 at 16:13
Your host/sponsor being family or friend is more convincing. How likely is it that a complete stranger would support you?
June 24, 2015 at 15:34
Hi Britsimon how do I check out on my appointment letter?
June 24, 2015 at 16:11
Wait until you receive your 2NL email. IN that email it instructs you to check the ESC website.
June 24, 2015 at 16:48
GOOD DAY BRIT
PLS PROVIDE ME THE LINK TO TELL WHETHER MY CASE IS READY??????
I AM AF38189
June 24, 2015 at 17:00
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
Enter your number as 2015AF38189
In Transit means KCC have scheduled the interview and your embassy have not yet marked it in the CEAC system (which is not a problem).
YOu should get the 2NL itself within a few days.
June 24, 2015 at 17:26
HI BRITSIMON.IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO GO FOR MEDICAL WITHOUT THE 2NL IF HE IS CURRENT WHEN THERE IS OPPORTUNITY.THANKS
June 24, 2015 at 18:45
That is possible, depends on the doctor.
June 24, 2015 at 18:48
Hi mr brist, listen this with me…a friend driver of a co just write me ,his boss say with the curent technological system problem, the kcc is obliged to show the worldwide current”” but the problem is not everybody will get an appointment,…,that everybody will move from “NVC” to “in transit” but becoz ambassies disponibility , some case will show ready and get apointment and some will stay in transit and don get apointment forever…what do u say?only u can tell me if this information is right
June 24, 2015 at 20:37
That is complete rubbish. The guy doesn’t know what he is talking about.
June 24, 2015 at 19:16
I know we should leave KCC to their job, and I would rather they work diligently on all our cases then be bothered by thousands of phone calls. Has there been a time when they’ve taken longer than a couple weeks to send the 2NLs out? I’m only thinking about timely medical appointments, should we not get our dates by the end of the month or so. I understand the sequence of events and I respect it, I’m only asking in light of these recent tech issues. Thanks.
June 24, 2015 at 20:39
They are still within their “normal” timeline – they generally say 2NLs will go out by the end of the month.
Further, the systems issues seem to be (mostly) resolved.
June 25, 2015 at 05:27
do you mean soon the Embassies will start issuing visas at the normal pace?
June 25, 2015 at 05:33
You are talking about visa issuance – I am talking about 2NLs – those are different things.
June 25, 2015 at 05:47
so does it mean today or tomorrow we should expect the 2nls coming out?
June 25, 2015 at 05:54
I hope they will come out by the end of the week. It is obvious that KCC have scheduled a lot of interviews in August – so they are taking their time.
June 25, 2015 at 05:57
can they come out on Saturday or Sunday also?
June 25, 2015 at 06:03
Yes
June 24, 2015 at 20:46
Many tks to Jesus Chirst, my statut on CEAC data is changed from in Transit to Ready. In God evreything is possible to whom that trust him. God has make away. Tks to you brother Bruit for all your support to us.
June 24, 2015 at 21:32
2NLs May be next week
