DV Lottery guide released
I have produced a guide to the DV lottery process, targeted especially toward DV2016 selectees! The guide is complete with some instructions to assist the selectees in completing the DS260, along with some information on the DV lottery terminology and process.
I will be making some additions to the page over the coming days, but I will also be happy to get comments on commonly asked questions that could be cleared up in the guide.
The guide is available from the navigation bar at the top of the page and here – DV lottery guide.
I hope that will make the process for DV2016 selectees a little easier!

hi Simon.
Do you know if the dv 2016 will be released on 12.00 EDT or it may happen earlier?
May 4, 2015 at 4:23 pm
They are usually pretty precise – but as soon as the results are released the severs will be overwhelmed and the site will be frustratingly slow for a few hours.

Sorry something different. I have been looking at the visa bulletin default and can see that they have not even updated, coming soon. Why the delay?
May 5, 2015 at 5:20 am
I have no idea – it shouldn’t affect anything…
May 5, 2015 at 8:58 am
Hoping to have to use this guide like crazy ๐
Many thanks BritSimon!
May 5, 2015 at 1:50 pm
De nada!
May 5, 2015 at 9:13 am
Hi Simon, Thought I would give you a headsup. I submitted my DS260 on Feb 12 2015 and have just received email confirmation from the KCC that the forms have been processed.
May 5, 2015 at 1:51 pm
Thanks that is useful and pretty much in line what I expected.
May 5, 2015 at 10:43 am
Hi brit what finally cutoff for Africa Morocco ?? will be 75,000 or above.
May 5, 2015 at 1:53 pm
I don’t think AF will go that high…. we have to wait and see
May 5, 2015 at 3:12 pm
Hello.
Anyway with this pace is not motivating.
through April, Af has not delivered half of the requested visa.
May 5, 2015 at 6:19 pm
????
May 5, 2015 at 7:35 pm
Is that another question or you didn’t understand my answer?
May 5, 2015 at 8:47 pm
Yes I’m not understand Is there hope to reach 66 will be disappointed in me that my life did not make the next releases will hit the big I am frustrated Since more than 17 years and I hope to win and when I win a digital af66รรร
May 5, 2015 at 8:53 pm
There is some hope and some risk that it won’t go that far. I cannot be precise – there are 5 months of interviews still to take place!!!!
May 5, 2015 at 5:30 pm
I have just checked it appears “that Entry HAS NOT BEEN SELECTED for further processing” Do i have to keep on checking till September? or it is all over?
May 5, 2015 at 7:33 pm
Keep the number for now – but pretty much all over.
May 6, 2015 at 9:53 am
Enter your comment here…hi brit someone told me that thete is second selection on1st october…is this true???
May 6, 2015 at 3:42 pm
That has happened in some years where they selected less people to start with. It did not happen in DV2014 (140k selectees) and DV2015 (125k selectees), but did happen in DV2013 (105k selectees).
So – once we see how many selectees there are – we will have an idea. The selectees number is on the selected letter.

May 15, 2015 at 6:51 pm
Hello. I have been selected for DV2016. I started to fill in the form online but I don’t have a passport yet. I am from DRC and passports can take up to two months. Is it posiible to just fill in the form without the passport details? How?? I tried but it will not let me proceed without entering the required information. I am scared that if I do not submit the form now it might get there late. Is there a time limit for submitting the online form???
May 15, 2015 at 8:30 pm
You can choose another ID, or simply just wait – I would wait. There is no problem with delaying for a couple of months.
May 19, 2015 at 8:28 pm
Hello Brit, When complete the form i did not put any phone number area code, do you think that would be a problem?
May 19, 2015 at 9:39 pm
NO
May 26, 2015 at 7:07 am
Hellow britSimon, can i change my email address?
May 26, 2015 at 2:15 pm
With KCC? You can change the email address in the DS260…
May 26, 2015 at 7:09 am

May 26, 2015 at 1:51 pm

July 27, 2015 at 2:10 pm
is there a date limite about ds 260 cn 1xxx fr dv2015 thanks
July 27, 2015 at 2:30 pm
Not a defined date limit, although because of processed times, submitting a DV2016 past June 2016 is probably too risky.
July 27, 2015 at 3:12 pm
thanks britsimon…. if i post my ds260 on aout 2015 when can i have my rdv ???
July 27, 2015 at 5:10 pm
I don’t know what you mean by rdv – but it will take some time to process your form (possibly a couple of months, but we don’t know DV2016 processing timelines yet), then they will schedule an interview around 2 months after your forms are processed.
So – you could expect an interview around December perhaps (assuming your number is current).
July 27, 2015 at 5:40 pm
I speak about dv2015
July 27, 2015 at 6:02 pm
If you have not already submitted your DS260, you have missed your chance to process your win. So – have I misunderstood what you are saying?
July 30, 2015 at 6:24 pm
Hi, in May I learned I am one of the many 2016 winners with my number being EU00010xxx. I straight away sent the DS260. All of this was on my own name. I have been with my partner for 10 years but we are not married and so I didn’t include him on my application. We do have plans to marry next year. Now we are wondering whether it may be worth bringing a wedding forward to prior to my interview. If so, can I still add my (by then husband) to the application? Or would this delay my interview? We are wondering whether (by marrying this year instead of next year) would jeopardize my chances of a green card or whether it simply saves us a lot of hassle by not having to apply for his visa separately. Thanks so much for your help. Your website has been so helpful!
July 30, 2015 at 9:16 pm
It would be wise to bring the wedding forward and process both of you at the same time. The alternative will see you split up for over 18 months…
There is no risk if you have a genuine marriage and can show that at the time of the interview. So – get married asap – unlock your form and leave it unlocked until you are married to ensure you can submit as a married couple.

WHi my dv number is 2016AF000050XX. From Ghana. My confirmation for ds 260 was received from kcc on 29 July 2015. When is my interview date due, and do i need to find job in the USA before my interview is due. I have awife and 3 children aged 5 years, 3 years and 5 months respectively.
September 30, 2015 at 8:09 pm
Your interview will probably be delayed until January, perhaps February – because of the late submission of your DS260.
You don’t need to find a job in the USA before the interview – but you might need to show how you will support yourself.

Thanks for the information. I have a car which i will sell to raise money to support me and my family in the states till i find a job. In addition i have a family friend that i will be staying with until i am capable of living on my own. The friend has agreed to support and help cater for me. Is that enough evidence of support ? Is it necessary that i ask the family friend whose address i used in filling my ds 260 to fill the affidavit of support form for me. Do i send the car documents with me to the embassy when my interview is due?
September 30, 2015 at 10:48 pm
The car value is useless. The friend may be more useful. More info here;
