*** Update – the system is fixed. Many are still having problems – but that is because they are entering information incorrectly – see https://britsimonsays.com/faq/checking-esc-page-check-without-mistakes/
OK – so I have been getting many reports of people not being able to check their cases. The system is giving a message of “The information entered is not valid.”
Normally when this happens it is because someone is mistyping the information in the page – typically confusing the letters in the confirmation number or not entering the LAST NAME which shows as what is entered BEFORE the comma.
However, I have entered checked a number of cases and I have confirmed there is a system problem that is stopping the checking of entries. . I almost can’t believe they managed to screw this up again. But they did.
So – I know for certain that many people have managed to check their results today. Some have been selected, many have not. But if you are one of those unable to check their case then I suggest you wait for another day rather than trying over and over again. I will check some cases from time to time and when I think the error is cleared I will post an update.

pls. any update for this issue
May 4, 2017 at 11:16
The same problem here in Iraqi Kurdistan. My wife and I applied under both of our names and we cannot check the status of any of them. Btw, I applied to a B1/B2 non-immigrant visa at the US embassy in Baghdad to attend TESOL 2017 in Seattle 2 months ago and I got the visa, I liked my wife to accompany me, so she applied at the US Consulate General in Erbil sometime after my visa was issued. When she attended the interview, her application was immediately rejected under section 2014(b) and my visa got revoked 10 hours after her being rejected under the same section of the immigration law and I was informed of this via an email. Do you think that her visa got rejected and mine revoked because we applied to DV lottery in Oct. 25, 2016? And, I cannot check my status now, and I am wondering if this has to do with the fact that we were rejected non-immigrant visas to go to the US together 2 months ago. Thanks for your response
May 4, 2017 at 13:26
Nothing to do with the entry. The issue is fixed now.
May 4, 2017 at 12:20
hi simon, if a name is misspelled on the dv and the person has been selected is that a problem ?
May 4, 2017 at 12:28
With due respect, many people here including me made sure many times to type correctly their details but the system still says: invalid details. Can u explain please, thank you!
May 4, 2017 at 13:20
Sometimes yes, but the best chance is to ensure the DS260 is correct.
May 4, 2017 at 12:32

Hello all,
First i would like to thank the blogger efforts.
Second, i just want to ask, i registered in the current lottery but this was in 24th of October. Does thos lower the chances?, does it have to be earlier in order to higher the possibilities of me winning?
Another question , as i am from Egypt, do we still have the same quota number of winners or iy has been changed because of Mr. Trump policy towards Middle East?
Thank you
Rania
May 4, 2017 at 13:16
Timing of your entry makes no difference.
Trump hasn’t changed anything.
May 4, 2017 at 17:28
Thank you
May 4, 2017 at 13:08
Is anyone of those who had an error and were now selected?

Issue has not solved yet in California. I still see the message: “Please review the Confirmation Number, your Last/Family Name, and Year of Birth to ensure you have entered them exactly as they appear on your DV Confirmation Page, including punctuation.”
May 4, 2017 at 18:59
You are probably doing it wrong.
Be careful with the confirmation code. Then only add your “lastname” which is the name *** BEFORE the comma ***
May 4, 2017 at 17:52
I’m getting the same message as well. I tried everything caps small letters as well, family name with a comma. It still that same message. I took a picture of the page when I finished applying. I know everything is right but I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Please help!!!
May 4, 2017 at 18:48

May 4, 2017 at 19:10
Hi, I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong.. I was able to check the status and congrats to me, I was selected for further proceeding : ) but when I tried to sign and submit the ds-260 form online (yeah I filled it in already ha ha), I can’t send it. An error message occurs saying that ‘the case number you entered does not match the case number that you entered at sign in’. Still the case number is the same for sure, I tried many times. I wonder what I should do about it to be able to submit the form?
May 4, 2017 at 19:14
Try this and let me know if it works. On the DS260 remove the leading zeros. So – if the number is 2018AF00001234, enter 2018AF1234
May 4, 2017 at 20:14
I’m not still able to check mine….is the glitch taking care of?

Hi Sir last time hopefully, I finaly saw and checked your page for the Bahamas educational requirements . It says GCE o levels for standard. I sat those (5) in my last year of high school though graduating in 5 th form . (11th grade) standard at that time.Does it matter if you passed them or not or would it be the fact that you qualified to take them then?there was no indication on your page showing this. Can you clarify?
May 13, 2017 at 21:24
Passes are what is important.
May 13, 2017 at 21:29
So what should the grades be? If I remember I got a c and 4 ds I think. I guess that’s automatic denial then?

May 19, 2017 at 13:39
Dear Simon,
I checked the website carefully and with the instruction you mentioned in the ESC page but still i face the same problem of:
“The information entered is not valid.
Please review the Confirmation Number, your Last/Family Name, and Year of Birth to ensure you have entered them exactly as they appear on your DV Confirmation Page, including punctuation.
Several characters are often confused:
0 = zero, O = letter ‘O’, 1 = one, I = letter ‘I’ (like ‘Ice’), 5 = ‘five’, S = letter ‘S’, 6 = six, G = letter ‘G’, 8 = eight, B = letter ‘B'”
My confirmation number does not have any confusing digit or alphabet and i correctly use comma after surname but still this problem is there.
Regards,
Fawad
May 19, 2017 at 14:27
If your name on the confirmation is “Ali, Fawad”. You just enter “Ali” – NO COMMA!
May 23, 2017 at 12:53
Have the same issues !
May 24, 2017 at 20:52
The case number you entered does not match the case number that you entered at Sign In.
What should i do ?
May 24, 2017 at 22:11
Read this:
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-basic-questions/
May 27, 2017 at 23:26
I guess you just tell everyone the same thing, that they put their information wrong. But, sorry to disappoint you, Simon, it really does not work for some people even if they put all the info correctly. I guess the glitch in the system is not over yet.
May 28, 2017 at 05:38
THere is NO glitch in the system. I have checked many cases where people told me they followed my instructions exactly. IN **EVERY** case where people send me their confirmation details (the pdf or a screenshot), the case works for me first time. First time. Every time. 100%.

June 1, 2017 at 14:53
Read the instructions here
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-basic-questions/
June 1, 2017 at 15:03
I’ve already seen it , but still have the same problem ??
June 1, 2017 at 17:18
So from your email, I see you have lost your confirmation code – and have tried to use the lost confirmation link. But you may have entered the details incorrect in the DV entry and unless you can match exactly what you entered, you cannot retrieve your confirmation code any other way. So – in that case, all you can do is try again next year and be more careful with your confirmation code.
June 2, 2017 at 14:27
I heard that there’sa second session of this results in September 30th , I don’t know if it’s real or not
June 2, 2017 at 15:36
There was last year, but it probably won’t happen this year because they already have enough select
June 8, 2017 at 18:55
???? it’s a desaster
June 11, 2017 at 01:53
The problem that I have is that the ‘cell’ where you are suppose to write your Entrant Name doesn’t let me add all the characters or letters necessary to fulfill my name. Adding the ‘comma’ leaves me with one missing character and if I don’t use the comma, then it will make it invalid as well.
Does anybody else have this problem? Is there somebody I should contact?
June 11, 2017 at 15:41
Enter without the comma
June 15, 2017 at 07:15
