For those just being selected, you may not yet fully understand the importance of your case number. Your number is specific to your region, each region starting from 1. So there is an 2019AF1, 2019AS1, 2019EU1 and so on. The regions go up to different maximum numbers, with 1 being the lowest in each region. The number dictates when you will be interviewed, low numbers are interviewed before high numbers. Whether your number is high or low is relative within a region to the highest numbers in that region – so it is helpful in these early days to start getting an idea of what case numbers are out there.
So – please report your case number as a reply to this thread. Give your number in slightly hidden format – ignoring the leading zeros, and hiding the last 2 or 3 digits. So case number 2019AF000012345 would be shown as 2019AF12XXX. SA and OC regions have lower ranges, so just hide the last two digits – so 2019OC000001234 becomes 2019OC12XX. Always quote your number that way on public forums.
Please also give your country you are charged to (typically country of birth).

Australia 2019OC10XX.
May 16, 2018 at 04:48
What is the point to leave Australia for the USA?
May 16, 2018 at 06:30
Am telling you that is very funny if African leave Africa to USA Australian too are leaving that what is not there in Australia this is funny and waste of time hence blocking others chances( less privilege)
May 16, 2018 at 10:28
Thats not how it works actually.
May 16, 2018 at 13:51
It is not up to you or I to judge anyone else in terms of their motive.
May 16, 2018 at 09:34
Pointless. I should be selected . From iraq
May 16, 2018 at 14:10
LOL
May 16, 2018 at 15:54
Compared to many countries in the OC region Aussie seems to have very very high numbers in terms of selection and awarded green cards. Dwarfs the other countries in the region in terms of numbers
May 16, 2018 at 16:34
More entries = more selected = more Green cards. Simple.
May 16, 2018 at 10:09
I am from Australia too
2019OC3XX
So, am I correct in assuming that anyone who got through for 2019 wont be interviewed until after October this year? Or is it more likely next year? I have to wait up to 3 months for a police check from Japan so was worried I might miss out!
Thanks!
May 16, 2018 at 14:20
You have no need to worry – this is a long process, and no interviews happen until October. Yours will be a little later.
May 16, 2018 at 23:51
THansk for the reassurance!! 🙂
May 16, 2018 at 16:38
Hi Emily, congratulations! 2018 draw we were also in the OC3XX and our interview was not till mid December, we squeezed through on a cut off, but just missed out on a November interview. Expect to perhaps interview between November and January, pending what number in the 300 range you are. Best of luck.

May 16, 2018 at 14:11
We don’t know yet. Patience.
September 19, 2018 at 15:49
Gkip, you must learn the truth. Its tooooo high. Last year’s cut off number for AF region was 39500. It should even reduce this year because its a low selection year. If you have to start something like education… go for it. Dont wait and see. but just in case,, check it one more time at around July and August.
September 19, 2018 at 16:48
First, you clearly don’t understand the impact of a low selection year – it does NOT lead to a lower final cutoff.
Second, the 39500 cutoff for DV2018 was not enough to reach the quota – so again you are making incorrect assumptions.
Third, with your limited knowledge, perhaps you would be wise to not advise people based on your incorrect understanding.

May 16, 2018 at 12:34
I’m from France and just got selected with 2019EU22XXX.
Do I have a shot for next year? Seems pretty high when you look at what is hapenning this year with the last VB.
And thanks for this website, it is very (very) resourceful!

We don’t know much yet. Wait until we know more.
May 16, 2018 at 12:35
Hi Brit,
I will graduate in June 2019. If I submit DS-260 and get interviewed, I should go to US before visa expires. What will happen to my education here?
Thanks
May 16, 2018 at 15:51
Delay submission of the DS260 so you can finish your studies.
Case number?
May 16, 2018 at 12:41
20196js63hyuzXXX this is my number but i still hae this issue: The information entered is not valid.
Please review the Confirmation Number, your Last/Family Name, and Year of Birth to ensure you have entered them exactly as they appear on your DV Confirmation Page, including punctuation.
Several characters are often confused:
0 = zero, O = letter ‘O’, 1 = one, I = letter ‘I’ (like ‘Ice’), 5 = five, S = letter ‘S’, 6 = six, G = letter ‘G’, 8 = eight, B = letter ‘B’

May 16, 2018 at 13:29
2019EU3xxx from Germany here. My case number seems relatively low, I guess it should go current in the first 2 months of the new fiscal year.
Question:
How’s the situation with DS-260 processing times? Has it improved since they introduced it for the DV-2015? Would you submit the DS-260 asap, given my low CN? Would early July be too late in your opinion? Reason I’m asking is that I want to marry before submitting it.
Thank you Simon.
May 16, 2018 at 16:05
No problem to delay the submission. DS260 processing times are fast now (and geared toward lower case numbers being processed first). But, even if you delayed the DS260 until after your case number went current, you would simply get an interview date once your DS260 was processed. So – get married, then submit.
May 20, 2018 at 09:10

Not very hopeful given what is happening with DV-2018… Will try to stay possitive, as both me and my husband have Masters degrees in Engineering and meet pretty much all the requirements… So it´s a case of keeping an eye on the VB.
Good luck to everybody!

Hello Simon,
Thanks for your prompt reply on my previous inquiry.
I’m currently pregnant and will be due by late September.
How do I include my baby when filling the DS-260 application form?
May 16, 2018 at 16:51
Depending on your case number you might want to delay your DS260 submission until the baby is born. You cannot include an unborn child. So – what is your case number (with year and region.
Use reply to keep messages linked so I understand the context.
May 16, 2018 at 17:05
2019AF13XXX, my nationality is Cameroon. I’m currently studying in South Korea and that’s from where I will take my interview. Which month do you predict my interview too?
May 16, 2018 at 17:09
Maybe December or January. So – you can wait to submit your DS260. If you are studying you might even want to delay submission for a few further months so you can complete the studying.
May 17, 2018 at 12:18
hello BritSimon,
I wish to ask, if i delay submission of my DS260 application till October for the sake of my baby, does it affect my chances of being selected for interview?
May 17, 2018 at 16:22
No. Why would I suggest that otherwise???
May 18, 2018 at 13:58
good morning Brit,
I wish to inquire, as a dv selected candidate, will I need an affidavit of support? thanks
May 18, 2018 at 15:38
Possibly, yes.

May 20, 2018 at 14:18
Hello Brit
Is it possible to get an offline copy of a DS-260 form in order to familiarize myself with the questions?
Also, as i’m a Cameroonian with case number 2019AF13xxx but currently doing my masters study in South Korea, is it ok for me to take my interview here? or is it better to go back and take an interview from my country?
Thanks in advance, for you reply.
May 20, 2018 at 15:57
1. Click on the Guide at the top of this page, and in there is a link to the DS260 example and instructions.
2. You can interview in SK, but they will have to check your education with Cameroon embassy.
