For those just being selected, you may not yet fully understand the importance of your case number. Your number is specific to your region, each region starting from 1. So there is an 2019AF1, 2019AS1, 2019EU1 and so on. The regions go up to different maximum numbers, with 1 being the lowest in each region. The number dictates when you will be interviewed, low numbers are interviewed before high numbers. Whether your number is high or low is relative within a region to the highest numbers in that region – so it is helpful in these early days to start getting an idea of what case numbers are out there.
So – please report your case number as a reply to this thread. Give your number in slightly hidden format – ignoring the leading zeros, and hiding the last 2 or 3 digits. So case number 2019AF000012345 would be shown as 2019AF12XXX. SA and OC regions have lower ranges, so just hide the last two digits – so 2019OC000001234 becomes 2019OC12XX. Always quote your number that way on public forums.
Please also give your country you are charged to (typically country of birth).

Hi Brit mi confirmation number is 2019SAXXXXX1. I guess my number is lower. I am in US waiting for my asylum interview, do I have to send the DS260 form right away? and the same time change my status sending the form i485 and wait? what do you recommend me?
June 1, 2018 at 23:51
Do not send in your DS260 yet. Learn about the process and make sure you know what you are doing first. You have to wait until October anyway.
June 1, 2018 at 23:55
So, I do not change my status also? my husband is the petitioner of the asylum, I am the winner of the dv 2019SA1XX, just wait till october?
June 2, 2018 at 00:10
DV2019 doesn’t start processing until October 1. So – you have time to learn and plan, or talk with your lawyer to make sure the cases don’t cause conflicts.

FOREIGN STATE OF CHARGEABILITY IS GHANA
June 2, 2018 at 17:35
Hi Simon,
Please my name is Dan from Ghana. I will like to ask you some questions in regard to DV2019.
1. Is it possible that 2NL will be sent before the end of this year? And if yes, do you know exact possible month?
2. Is it possible to get DV2019 visa this year and travel this year?
3. Please I need a clarification on this question “ Do you seek to enter the United State for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?” my answer was “NO”. currently am a student in the university reading Information Technology, I have Diploma in Software Engineering and I am also working as a Website Developer. Is my answer “NO” correct?
4. In which occupation do you intend to work in the United State? I answered “OTHER” specify other, I wrote “WEBSITE DEVELOPING” please will this answer contradict my number 3 answer?
5. 2019AF13xxx is this case number safe or risky?
6. Do you need a Bank Statement or a financial record document on the day of your interview as a DV winner? If yes can the document be from your sponsor or it should only bear the name of the applicant
June 3, 2018 at 01:08
1. Given your case number – no.
2. See 1
3. Answer YES to be more accurate.
4. It doesn’t matter.
5. Safe
6. Accra might want bank statements, but more likely they ask about a host.
June 3, 2018 at 15:51
3. I answered “NO” am I in trouble? ☹️
June 3, 2018 at 16:16
No.
June 4, 2018 at 23:04
What about case # 2019AF23×××?
Is it safe?

June 4, 2018 at 23:05
Patience. Wait until we know more.
June 3, 2018 at 01:01
Hello sr Simon I am preselected in dv2019 case 2019SA9xx I wanted to ask you 3 questions: 1. when you think it could be my interview? 2. with that number there is still risk? 3. I Have $ 20,000 and we are my husband, me and a baby, do you think we will need a sponsor?
June 3, 2018 at 16:26
1. I don’t know exactly certainly not 2018.
2. No
3. That varies by embassy, CO and even by case – so an I-134 would always be wise.
June 3, 2018 at 10:23
Hi Simon,
Would you please give some opinion that the case number 2019AS97XX is safe or risky?
Thanks a lot.
June 3, 2018 at 15:47
We don’t know anything yet.
June 4, 2018 at 00:23
Thanks for reply.
Further question is as follow:
1.In your opinion , when will the government published data on how many selectees there are across regions about DV2019 like the last year?
2.When the government published data about DV2019, will you do some analysis, and published some thoughts (INCLUDING NUMBERS THAT ARE VERY SAFE!) like DV2018 Selectee Numbers?
Sorry to disturb you again.
June 4, 2018 at 00:34
1. In the next VB.
2. Probably.
June 4, 2018 at 01:24

June 5, 2018 at 05:54
Hi Brit,
I am a german citizen and my # is 2019EU24XXX. When can I expect an interview?
Also I am currently in Canada with a work permit(not permanent resident yet) and my foreign State Chargeability is Germany. However, before filling my DS 260 I called the KCC and asked if it is possible to schedule the interview in Canada which they confirmed so I choosed to be interviewed in Montreal on the DS 260 form. But since I am in Canada only with a work permit I filled Germany as my present addess. But when I answered the question “Have you lived anywhere other this address since 16?” I filled in that I am currently living in Canada. So my question is should I send KCC an email and clarify again that I´m currently in Canada only with work permit and that´s my current address or should I tell them I want to change the location of interview to Germany? I know the story is a bit confusing that is why I don´t want to jeopardize this opportunity and get disqualified. I may contact KCC again for clarification. What shall I do?
Many thanks
June 5, 2018 at 13:44
About a year from now.
Your current address is used to pick an embassy for you (regardless of what you picked). So – make your mind up, and make sure the address matches your decision.
June 5, 2018 at 14:37
Thank you for your fast answer! So I will contact the KCC again to make sure that my interview will be held in Canada?
Also my case #EU201924XXX is pretty high! Is that a high or low risk to get an interview?
Many thanks in advance
June 5, 2018 at 16:38
In 2018 that number hasn’t been scheduled yet – so you have a long wait. Years are not exactly alike – we will know more in the coming weeks.
June 7, 2018 at 10:31
Hey Brit, sorry for bothering.. I am currently in Japan on working visa. I want my interview at Nepal, my home country. I am planning to return to Nepal once i get my 2nl. i am married too. As you said current address is used to pick up an embassy, Should i write my present address as Japan or Nepal. And is it must for my spouse to be present at interview ?? DV SELECTEE CASE NO. 2019AS34XX.. Thanks!
June 7, 2018 at 14:16
Write the Japan address and contact KCC nearer the time.
Yes the spouse is in the interview.
June 8, 2018 at 07:05
Okay i’ll write japan on current address. Nearer the time means after getting the 2nl, right?
Cheers!
June 8, 2018 at 14:17
No – BEFORE the 2NL!
June 8, 2018 at 08:15
Hey Brit.. in US does above secondary level means grade 10 and higher?

June 5, 2018 at 07:54
Hi BritSimon.
My wife was selected with case number 2019XXAFXX46XXX. We are in South Africa. We understand that at best this will take more than year, so we are being patient. But do you think we will have a chance at all?
June 5, 2018 at 13:47
You know as much as I do at the moment.
June 5, 2018 at 12:22
Hi Simon,
My case # is 2019EU12XX. Q: 1. Is it safe ?; 2. Do we have chance to get the interview within 2018? Thanx a lot!
June 5, 2018 at 14:13
Yes.
June 5, 2018 at 12:38
Hi,Brit. Greetings I have never serve in the military and in my ds260 I click no but I went for my interview today and the Consulate asked me to obtain a military record and I was confused. Because a friend who took his own visa back in Cameroon didn’t present anything like that. Can someone share with me his or her experience about this ?
Is it normal ?
June 5, 2018 at 14:15
If military service is not required in your country, you simply explain that and that you haven’t performed military service (and proving what you have done instead).
June 7, 2018 at 07:51
Hi George, did you obtain a certificate of non-conviction in Cameroon because you have to present that to show you have never committed any crime in Cameroon. Its good to clarify that you are not confused between police certificate and military record.
June 5, 2018 at 14:32
Hi BritSimon,
I posted on other thread before I saw this one. Sorry for double, it fits here better.
OC4XX (Australia)
1. Very safe?
2. Approximate interview time please ?
Thanks, Red
June 5, 2018 at 15:45
Hi Brit,
My interview date is schedule on 5 July 2018 with case#2018afxxxx9060 on the ds260 l made a mistake of spelling my school name wrongly instead of Okuapeman I made it Akuapeman, please will it affect my chance, and could something be done about it before the interview?
Thank you
June 5, 2018 at 16:42
No problem.
June 6, 2018 at 11:59
Hello Queen, looking at your case number is looks very low. Did you submit your ds260 very late? You don’t have a problem about the wrong spelling of your school name. All the best
June 5, 2018 at 18:48
Hi Brit my case number is
2019af16xxx
When do you think I can be called for interview, this year or next year?
When do you think 2NL will be sent out?

June 5, 2018 at 19:14
Next year. We will know more later. Time to practice patience.
June 5, 2018 at 19:47
Hi Brit,
1.What’s the meaning about the “AP”&”Ready” in CEAC Data?
2.When we read CEAC Data , how should we calculate visas left are there in each region?
3.Why is it so high(Compared with previous years)about the Asia’s “Refuse” number on the DV2018 CEAC Data so far?
Thanks a lot.
June 5, 2018 at 22:09
I am going to post an article that covers these basic questions – but you can read these from last year

June 6, 2018 at 05:10

Case number 3019AF14xxx. When do u think I will be call for interview. Secondly while awaiting my result I got married can I safely go with my partner.
Thanks
June 6, 2018 at 14:10
You have months to wait – plenty of time to read the FAQ about getting married.
June 6, 2018 at 05:56
Hi Brit!
got an OC number that is under 200. Should I fill out the ds260 ASAP or wait a bit? (I want to interview as soon as I can)
Thanks mate 🙂
June 6, 2018 at 07:07
HI
my case number 2019AF11415 for how long can i stay?when is the date of the interview?
June 6, 2018 at 14:14
Late 2018 or early 2019
June 9, 2018 at 10:59
Hello helina
Congratulation for your being selected!
I think your case number is much more safer than mine
የኔ 24*** ነዉ
I think mine also safer
June 6, 2018 at 14:12
Up to you.
June 9, 2018 at 08:37
That means December or January? and my case number safe or risk?
June 6, 2018 at 11:34
Hi Brit
My case number is 2019AF30*** from Cameroon, want to know when I will be able to get an interview
Secondly, I have a university degree as stated on my entry form, but at the moment it is still with my school because there was an error made on it on my birth date and month, so it has to be corrected but it’s been almost a year now since I submitted for correction and it’s not been done. So can I fill in my DS-260 form now while waiting for it to be corrected? Or can I just go in with my High School Certificate or will they accept any other document proving it’s actually under correction? Am really confused on this
June 6, 2018 at 14:18
1. You will wait nearly 1 year.
2. See 1 – you have time.
June 7, 2018 at 07:38
Hi Vera, I am from Cameroon too and I faced similar problem with errors on my attestation after I graduated from the University of Buea. It is an easy procedure to get it corrected but when you don’t know you will take a very long route. If you have a copy of your attestation, be bold enough to go straight to the registrar’s office and request to see him. Mine took just one day to be corrected when I met the registrar’s first secretary. Good luck
June 12, 2018 at 08:57
Oh thanks Kendric, but will love to talk with you so you can tell me how to go about it. Am really confused on what to do. If I can get a way to contact you I will be so grateful thanks
June 6, 2018 at 15:04
Hi Simon
My case n is 2019as3xxx from Nepal . my wife is prenacy and it is running to 9 weeks delivery month is December . we summit DS 260 but fill no children .when we go interview that time we have a child so in that case we have to face any problem or not ? If there is a problem what can we do ?
June 6, 2018 at 17:16
You will interview after December – so once the child is born you can immediately unlock your DS260s and add the child. Check the FAQ for more detail.
June 6, 2018 at 16:19
Hello Brit, when i click on DS260 put case no and date of birth. at that time my date and month has wrong entry when i fillled dv 1st step. And i did correct my date of birth in ds 260 form. Is there any problem brit selecting on second letter?
June 6, 2018 at 17:45
That mistake doesn’t stop the 2Nl.
June 7, 2018 at 07:25
Hi Brit, case no 2019af00010xxx. i have one question: wife is pregnant as we are expecting a babe on August, If we unlocked the ds form at that time to add the child, would that delay our interview or affect our chance? Or better to wait to add the new member at interview time
June 7, 2018 at 13:56
No delay for unlocking but you must not wait until interview time anyway, so make sure you unlock
June 7, 2018 at 08:06

Hi Simon, mine is 2019AF7ххх . Will I be interviewed in 2018? Also I study in Ukraine, I want to go home (Sierra Leone) for my interview. Is it ok?
June 8, 2018 at 14:16
Maybe 2018. You can go home.
June 9, 2018 at 08:37
I have OC2019XXXXX5XX and have already submitted my application. With such a low number I’m guessing my interview would be around November/December. I wanted to know if is there a minimum amount of cash you need to have without getting an affidavit of support and how much notice do they give you for the interview?
June 9, 2018 at 14:27
Cash – show a good amount of savings ($10k per adult minimum) and that should be OK
You get about 6 weeks notice.
June 11, 2018 at 01:13
Do I need to have 10k at time of interview or would I be able to just prove to them I am able to raise 10k by the time I plan to move there? It’s going to be difficult to get 10k by end of this year
June 11, 2018 at 02:14
If you are interviewing in Sydney, they often don’t ask for financials – but they could. If I were you, I would get an I-134.
June 9, 2018 at 09:15
Iam form Afghanistan my case number is 2019As12xxx its safe or not
And what about quote if Asia how much it will be
June 9, 2018 at 14:25

June 9, 2018 at 12:46
Hi SImon,
1. my no is 2019EU12XXX I am fairly certain im safe??
2. My question is when may I expect to be interviewed? I was planning a holiday to US from Ireland in Oct 2018, maybe I should put that plan on hold. Could I expect to be interviewed that early??
Regards
Eileen
June 9, 2018 at 14:14
1. Yes
2. No it certainly won’t be in October. Check the VB progress for DV2018 (link in menu above)
June 9, 2018 at 18:35

But also, what are chances of eventually getting the green card ( as there are more selectees then avlbl visas, how can i know if im in the safe zone)?
Thanks a lot
Y
June 9, 2018 at 22:55
We don’t know much yet about cases and numbers. Your interview will be around 1 year away – so time to practice patience.
June 9, 2018 at 19:18
Hi Brit
1 – is there a dead line to submit the ds-260?
2- is my number safe or not ( 2019AS147xx ) ??
3- I am getting my bachelor degree in September, 2018 and when i try to enter the date the website tell me that i cant use a future date so can i wait until September to submit the ds-260 or i should enter the diploma date [knowing that i use the bachelor degree to enter the dv 2019]
June 9, 2018 at 22:59
1. No
2. Too early to know.
3. Wait until you have the bachelor – you have to wait at least a year anyway.
June 9, 2018 at 19:42
hello,
My case number is 2019AF23XXX from Ethiopia. When i will able to get an interview?
June 9, 2018 at 23:00
Too early to know.
June 10, 2018 at 07:17
more 1year?
June 10, 2018 at 03:12
Hi Simon;
Thank you so much for your all your helpful answers to applicants. I’ve got some questions to ask;
1.I am the main applicant. My husband is a students at the moment and not an employee anywhere.. He does Uber though sometimes. We didn’t know what to answer to the job question. So we just chose STUDENT as his job. Should we edit that?
2.I need to email the kcc for unlocking my DS260 form. if they unlock my form, would that unlock my husband and my children’s form too? Because I need to edit some parts in our forms.
3. would they unlock our forms upon my request?
4.I do live in Australia and we obviously do the vaccination in here. What should I answer to the question where it says would our vaccination be based on US vaccinations? YES or NO?
I appreciate your great help.
June 10, 2018 at 04:40
1. He is a student – so that is the correct answer.
2. No, you need to specify which forms to unlock.
3. Yes
4. “No”
June 10, 2018 at 03:36
Thanks for answering
Maybe you can give me an advice on below:
Does visiting the US on b1/b2 visa can affect my case results?
Do i need to update my DS260 with every visit to the US after ive submitted it and included the required amount of visits? ( part of my job, i travel to the US. Actually i was in the US on 15May when they announced the selectees, does that mean anything?)
Tks again
Y
June 10, 2018 at 04:38
No impact – no need to update every visit.
June 28, 2018 at 07:22
Dear sir
Would appreciate your clarification, as you answered my question about visitng the US on a B1/B2 visa after i was selected for the DV-2019,that this will not affect my immigrant visa processing and that i can freely go in/out the US with B1/B2.
However, inoticed that on another page you replied to a gentleman asking similar question that if he goes to the US on a different visa it will disqualify him as he traveled to the US with intent to immigrate.
I really need your clarification,as i dont want to harm my chances of getting the green card
Thank you
Y
June 28, 2018 at 15:19
He was asking can he enter on a B1/B2 and then adjust status. That is not the same as entering on a B1/B2 while waiting for DV2019 processing, AND LEAVING at the end of the trip.
June 28, 2018 at 15:50
Thanks
I was under the understanding that entering on B1/B2 equals no immigration intention which conflicts with my filed DS260 which is with immigrant intention. Thats why i was worried. As i understood they can only accept one intention at a time and in my case its like 2 conflict intentions.
June 28, 2018 at 21:26
No. “Entering” is not a problem.
June 10, 2018 at 06:28
my case number 2019AF11415 for how long can i stay?when is the date of the interview?you say that
Late 2018 or early 2019 ……………
That means December or January? and my case number safe or risk?
June 10, 2018 at 14:32

Does it matter what interview location i choose on the DS260, assuming its in the same country?, i noticed my country has 2 locations and i’m not sure what i should choose (beside the one is more convinient). especially if one of them can affect the line waiting time for getting the interview scheduled
June 10, 2018 at 14:32
DV interviews will only be performed at one location.
June 10, 2018 at 15:11
Then what location shall i choose?, or it doesnt really matter and they will decide themselvs?
June 10, 2018 at 16:32
They select it.

“Your current address is used to pick an embassy for you (regardless of what you picked). So – make your mind up, and make sure the address matches your decision.”
Hey Brit, i am now finalizing my ds260 form. I filled my present address (Japan) as you have suggested. In the review section in ds260 form, the place of interview shows Kathmandu, Nepal. Do i have to contact kcc to confirm the interview will take place in Nepal or am i good to go?
I am confused, will you please make me clear?
Whether the interview place shown in ds260 and 2nl same or not?
Thank you!

In Kenya for work, living here at the moment but chose Sudan (home country) for the interview as I will have to go there to prepare some documents as well.
Do the rules say that I have to be interview in Kenya? Or can I be interviewed at the location I chose (Sudan)?
Thank you

You normally interview where you live – wherever that is. If you want to interview somewhere else, contact KCC.

I stated upon starting the ds260 by choosing khartoum. It was initially in another location I was living in at the time of inital lottery entry in 2016.
Are you saying that I should contact kev to confirm khartoum as my interview location?
Thank you in advance

Hi Simon, based on my Case Number I believe I am on track to be interviewed in November. I am however confused about the wording after I submitted my DS-260 – “You must contact your local USCIS Field Office for further instructions
on how to book an appointment.”
Based on reading of your site/google my understanding is that I will be contacted for an interview but I wanted to check that I don’t need to be doing something here and should just be waiting?
Thank you!
June 10, 2018 at 17:35
You don’t do anything. You just wait.
June 11, 2018 at 01:32
Hi Simon,
Ok.. sooooo here goes. Did my DS260 on the 1st June, Didn’t have quite the understanding of it that I do now, after studying your blog intensely for 4 days. Many many thanks for this body of work Simon. I think i will have to unlock(made 5+spelling/numerical errors)
Q1 my primary occupation I wrote “student”, however I don’t become a student until September 2018, (deferred college 2 years ago) I am actually unemployed/looking for work. Should I change it to be accurate, I guess I don’t want to as I think it wont look good on my application? They will only find it out if they do a background check.
Q2. My mother moved countries 2 weeks before I did my DS260, however she has not yet changed her permanent address, It will probably be changed by end of June. I gave her old address in the DS260, Should I update it as I know what it will become and technically she has moved OR should I leave it alone? OR “wait and see” maby unlock again next month to change it once I know her exact date?
Q3. for education I wrote under Degree; NOT AS OF YET. as I will have a degree in 2 more years, IF I don’t move permanently to US. I was planning on Doing my interview- activating in 2019 during midterm from college- returning to Ireland, finishing that year of college in May 2019. ( 2019EU12XXX I anticipate interview DEC/JAN 2018), Then work in US for summer and return to final year of college in Sept 2019. ill obtain my degree in 2020. Is there a better way of expressing my situation with college degree than “NOT AS OF YET” ?
Q4 I said I only attended 1 institution of education, But being that I attended secondary and third level institutions would it be more correct to say 2?
Hope this makes sense,
Regards
A slightly stressed EIleen

1. It’s not critical. No need to correct (you will be a student by then.
2. Wow, you are overthinking things. Relax.
3. “None”.
4. Number of schools.
Stop stressing over trivia.
