For those just being selected, you may not yet fully understand the importance of your case number. Your number is specific to your region, each region starting from 1. So there is an 2019AF1, 2019AS1, 2019EU1 and so on. The regions go up to different maximum numbers, with 1 being the lowest in each region. The number dictates when you will be interviewed, low numbers are interviewed before high numbers. Whether your number is high or low is relative within a region to the highest numbers in that region – so it is helpful in these early days to start getting an idea of what case numbers are out there.
So – please report your case number as a reply to this thread. Give your number in slightly hidden format – ignoring the leading zeros, and hiding the last 2 or 3 digits. So case number 2019AF000012345 would be shown as 2019AF12XXX. SA and OC regions have lower ranges, so just hide the last two digits – so 2019OC000001234 becomes 2019OC12XX. Always quote your number that way on public forums.
Please also give your country you are charged to (typically country of birth).

Hi brit,
I have already sumitted my DS-260. How ever i reply No for the question did you have been employed before the present job? For i couldn’t provide evidence though i had a job. So my Questions are
1. Shall i resubmit my previous job by unlocking my DS 260 though i couldn’t provide evidence?
2. If yes, is there any danger for my Visa process while unlocking my DS-260
Thank you
June 12, 2018 at 14:27
1. Your DS260 should be truthful.
2. No
June 12, 2018 at 08:52
My wife has been selected for DV visa and we are preparing our documents to apply. However, I noticed her name on her BA certificate is Joyces Ama Poku Boakye whereas the name on her birth cert, passport is Joyces Ama Boakye Poku. Boakye Poku is the surname. Will this affect the application? She is the principal applicant in this case…please advise
June 12, 2018 at 14:39
This would normally not cause a problem. The DS260 should match the passport
June 12, 2018 at 10:22
2019AS34XX
Brit, hello there. I have today submitted my wife’s part on ds260. I am in confusion whether to include my bachelor’s detail or not. I attended bachelor from 2008 to 2011 but i never got a degree. I don’t have any marksheet with me in case i am asked to provide any supporting detail about my bachelors’. So what should i go for?
Thank you!
.
June 12, 2018 at 14:45
You provide the detail of what you did during that time.

Hello simon i am from iran selected in dv2019
case number: dv2019AS11XXX
my questions are:
1 is my case number safe? if yes when i may be schedulate for interview
2 im not muslim im zartosht, but all iranians document wroten muslim Religion by default, is this may effect to getting us visa
3 the president trump travel ban do effect on iranian or just iranin’s muslim
4 is there any way for my case to be schedulate in earlier because i am diffrent in Religion and having to many problems in iran cause of my difference
June 13, 2018 at 14:39
1. I don’t know whether that is safe or not – but I am very surprised you have such a high number.
2. No
3. All Iranians.
4. No.
To be clear, while the ban is in force you won’t get apprpoved.
June 13, 2018 at 08:53
First of all, what a great site. Much appreciate all your guidance. Could I ask a few questions please?
1. My # is 2019EU19XXX. Based on previous years, do my chances look “OK” with number being released in May-June-July 2019 timeframe?
2. I submitted DS260 form a few weeks ago. Is my understanding correct that I simply now “wait and see” for response from KCC with the date and time of my interview at the embassy? When would they email me?
3. How do I interpret the numbers released each month? For example, if my # is released in May 2019, does it mean that I will receive an email from KCC in May for an interview in 1-2 months, or will I be notified sooner? Could you give me a rough estimate of timelines?
4. Is there ANYTHING else I should be doing now when I am in the “wait and see” mode? I know I need to do medical exam and get police records however I imagine it will take me a few months to get them done so I plan on doing them 3-4 months before the estimated date of my interview as I read that medical reports must be dated within 6 months of interview date. I feel odd doing nothing at this time so please advise!
5. I plan on traveling to the US on business. Will I have issued entering the country – before or after the interview is scheduled? I realise that if I do get the visa after the interview, my next trip to the US must be me actually moving there however let me know if there are any roadblocks with short business or personal travel BEFORE the visa is approved.
Many thanks again,
Daniel
June 13, 2018 at 14:44
1. Yes
2. Read the FAQ about 2NL
3. See 2.
4. Nothing – and don’t do the medical until you receive the interview date (because your visa expiry is based on the medical date)
5. No problem.
Please read the FAQ and so on – you have plenty of time.
June 13, 2018 at 14:58
Britt how did you say its no problem.. I think If he wants togo to USA but already filled ds 260 , it will get suspicious by CO in border? so i think there will be problem withthat. i still remember you answered me if.there is.going to be a problem If you USE b1 b2 to travel Because u already filled.ds 260.
June 13, 2018 at 18:45
I said it will not be a problem, because in **my personal experience**, and that of **hundreds** of people of the **several years** I have been advising people, it hasn’t been a problem. So – assuming you are on an ESTA, or already have a B1/B2, then there is no problem.
June 14, 2018 at 02:14
So i already had myb1 b2. Ive had it 2 years ago. and i filled ds 260 This may. so it wont be a problem If i travel to US soon right? Border officer wont ask me about my ds 260 right? you think They will know If i had filled ds 260? cause i also saw on google people experience, some of them get denied enter USA, or get questioned a lot and u Have to show them If you will go Back to ur country by showing some evidence If you Are really come to.usa.for business u needtobring company invitation letter.etc and its not easy bcause you ve already filled immigrant visa..
and also i.thought you said that it will be a risk and you told me to not to rush on filling ds 260, and i answered that DV its a trap for B1 B2.lol i was devastating cause i want to travel US on.decemver but i cant cause i filled 260
June 14, 2018 at 04:08
I can’t keep answering this same question.
June 14, 2018 at 04:12
Thank you britt, Im gonna buy my.ticket to US, No need to worry anymore about DS260 cause i CAn travel while on petition!! I’m Sorry to bother you, Sir.

I am selected for the DV-2019. I have recently taken a passport for my new born daughter. In passport application which is saved in computer my name is written NAWID as her father name. While my exact name spelling is NAVEED. Will it cause a problem for my case?
June 14, 2018 at 13:53
The passport should be correct.
June 14, 2018 at 12:38
Hi Simon,
I was selected case no 2019EU00006XXX,country Romania. In mid-July I hope to submit DS260 form ( my daughter’s passport is not ready). Do I have to hurry?
Please, could you tell me at what approximate month should I expect the interview?
Thank you.
June 14, 2018 at 14:31
You don’t have to hurry – if you delay your DS260 submission your interview will be a bit later – that’s all. Interview could be late 2018 or early 2019
June 14, 2018 at 19:41
Hi Brit,
Is date(or just month) when data for DV2019 is released known?
June 14, 2018 at 19:53
Selectee counts will probably be in the VB that we are waiting for – so within a few days.
June 14, 2018 at 21:15
Hi Simon,
DS-260 submitted for DV2019. 2 Questions please:
1- if during 2019, i acquire a new citizenship, do i have to unlock and change the answer to the question “do you have another nationality?” or is this not important ?
2- My job might change as well, new company new position, so the one i entered won’t be the most recent. Same question, unlock or not important ?
Thank you
June 14, 2018 at 21:23
1. Yes
2. Not as important.
June 15, 2018 at 09:32
Thanks a lot for your answers.
There was a typo in my post: DS-260 (not yet)* submitted.
My CN is 2019AS000127XX. So I guess I don’t need to hurry to submit DS 260, right ? Would you rather wait till i my new job/citizenship are figured out next year and then submit ?
Thanks
June 15, 2018 at 13:32
You can delay submission if you want – no risk in that.
May 17, 2019 at 06:43
Did u got the second letter?plz do reply
June 15, 2018 at 03:54
Hi Britsimon. Thank you very much for your effort and service. I have one clarification.. I am selected for DV2019 and in our country we have lengthy full names and therefore we commonly don’t use that entire name normally. So I did the same and filled my wife’s and kids full names in the DV application. However from DS260 onwards I have to use the entire lengthy full names as they the ones used in passports. Is it a problem and if so how can I correct it? Already I drafted a letter on this to KCC and I need advice from you before that. Thanks in advance..
June 15, 2018 at 04:38
Your full legal name (matching your passport) should be in the ds260. Do that.
June 16, 2018 at 17:56
Thanks a lot and appreciate your time BritSimon.. So I will not waste writing to KCC and I will correct that from DS260 onwards..am I correct?
June 15, 2018 at 04:18
Hi Simon, thank you very much for your effort and service. I have one clarification.. I am selected for DV2019 and in our country we have lengthy full names. Therefore, in the DV application I filled my wife’s and kids full names with commonly used full names (it has several names however it is not the entire lengthy full name shown in passports) as we do in our country. Will this be a problem for me and if so how can I correct it since from DS260 onwards I have to use the entire full names? I have already drafted a letter indicating this to KCC and I need advice from you on this. Thanks in advance.
June 15, 2018 at 07:45
Hey Brit,
2019AS34XX
With all your great posts, i have now finally completed and submitted my ds260 form.
1. As you’ve advised me to contact KCC for the interview location before 2nl arrives, when should i contact? May i contact them now or couple of weeks later or after october? (present address is Japan, foreign chargability Nepal and interview location shown on ds260 is Kathmandu, which i wish to be.
2. For police clearance, in Japan i have resided in couple of cities, i wonder if i have to make as many reports as i lived in or a single report mentioning the whole duration and all place would work?
Thanks a lot!
June 15, 2018 at 13:30
1. Keep an eye on the VB and then you can decide.
2. Check the instructions/reciprocity page.
June 15, 2018 at 11:22
Good day,
First of all I MUST commend your patience in answering everybody asking questions here. You’re doing an excellent job.
My question is around Egypt’s limits and its relation to extra 50,000+ cases that are assigned numbers but are in the high range and might not get an interview.
As I won and previously noted twice here my case number is 2019AF182xx, I checked with others I know who won in the past they all had lower numbers than mine but strangely I never met or found someone who’s got assigned a number and not assigned an interview. My understanding is, and it seems wrong despite me reading almost all the entries on the blog, that 50% of the selectees will get interviews and the other 50% won’t as they are from the extra (As the total is 100,000 winning entries”.
My assumption based on the fact that Egypt has high rate of showing up for interviews and proper paperwork preparation.
I think I am missing something here, I am trying to determine the percentage of me getting an interview in 2019.
The second thing is, I thought with the July Visa Bulletin they release the yearly statistics for how many applied and how many selected, why it was not released with the recently updated July bulletin?
June 15, 2018 at 13:40
You may not understand that some countries (Egypt included) have their winning numbers condensed in the early numbers. Link below.
Yes I was expecting the DV2019 numbers. More waiting…
https://britsimonsays.com/the-lottery-draw-process-holes-theory-and-so-on/
June 15, 2018 at 13:48
Feel free not to answer anymore, I appreciate that your time is limited.
I do understand that Egypt and the countries that have high number of submissions are “concentrated” in the lower case number range. I just don’t understand what does this mean for my number 2019AF182xx Does this make my number more risky?
I also understand that form 2002 to 2018 the lowest number Egypt got was 22900; this is making me feel safe, but not too safe.
The golden answer I guess is: Wait and See, I totally get it.
For the DV2019 numbers: I think I would be waiting for this to check the number of people applying and calculations that ultimately leads to determining the density of real cases. This would be the earliest time we can tell what are the safe numbers based not on past calculations but on calculations that are made on the DV2019 numbers.
June 15, 2018 at 14:29
We will know more over the coming months, but we only get CEAC data in January. The earliest time we will really be sure is in a bout 1 year from now. This is a slow process. Be prepared to learn patience.
June 15, 2018 at 14:06
Hi Brit,
My case number is 2019AS14xxx. What do you think? Is it high or low? I am from Indonesia. Thanks.

June 15, 2018 at 21:55
Hi hi, I got CN: 2019EU***17***.
1. I am planing to marry in beggining of august so probably delay of submitting DS260 for the first time will be the best option? Or it is better to fill it now and later to unlock?
2. Isn’t it late to submit DS-260 in the middle of august?
3. If I submit DS260 for so late, will it affect my chances for interview?
Thank you for showing me the right road 🙂
June 15, 2018 at 23:13
1. I would wait.
2. No
3. No
June 16, 2018 at 01:58
Hi simon,am one of the selectee this year but am married now n want to include my wife so what do I do.at the time of registration wasn’t married by then but I am now .pls advice me.
June 16, 2018 at 03:17
Read the FAQ.
June 16, 2018 at 06:13
Dear Simon
I would appreciate your advise on couple of questions regarding filling the DS260:
1. My wife’s profession is Naturopath and we dont quite sure if we shall choose Medical/Health or Other in the occupation section, and also there is the question later on the application if she graduated a foreign medical school and intend to provide medical services in the US. Bottom line, we dont quite know how we shall answer. If my proffesion falls under this category.
2. My second profession is pilot, all my training were done in the US and my concern is how do they react to that if ill be asked where my training took place ( im not sure if i was considered a student with that regards), i can say that i did all myntraining there while i was legally there under B1/B2 and received all proper approvals from the American authorities.
Maybe you can share with me your thoughts. That would be appreciated
Thank you sir
Yaniv
June 16, 2018 at 13:25
1. Naturopathy is to medicine what astrology is to science. Other.
2. Your profession is what you do for a living – how you earn your income. Do you get paid for flying? If not, then it is a hobby.
June 16, 2018 at 13:33
Thanks for replying
I do get paid for flying, but its my second part time proffession, in that case how i should proceed.as i mentioned that my concern is how they will react to the fact that all my training were done in the US.
Again thanks so much for your patience
June 16, 2018 at 13:34
I can’t predict how a CO will react. You seem to think you have choices about what you do and don’t say. You tell the truth. That’s all.
June 16, 2018 at 13:49
Thanks again
Now im facing another problem, it wont allow me to put 2 “ other” occupations….
My main occupation is management position in the aviation industry
Any thoughts?
June 16, 2018 at 13:51
Re-read my earlier comment.
June 16, 2018 at 13:57
Maybe my question wasnt clear.
How do i insert 2 “other” occupations in the DS260. It doesnt allow doing that.
As i understood your comment, since im getting paid for flying i need to include it as profession. So i have to put 2 proffesions, which in my understanding are both “other”
Thank you
June 16, 2018 at 14:28
The question was clear – but now you need to use your own judgement.
June 16, 2018 at 09:25
Hi Brit…. My husband barely wants to go to US after me winning the lottery. Does that mean ill be disqualified as the primary applicant?
June 16, 2018 at 13:11
No
June 16, 2018 at 16:34
Hi I have a question from a lady dv2019 winner. She was single during registration , then got married. But now she wants divorce and it might take some time because her husband is living in another country and does’t want to be bothered whatsoever. Now she doesn’t know what to put in her ds-260. Married or not?
What do you suggest ?
Thanks.
June 16, 2018 at 17:12
The truth.
June 16, 2018 at 16:45
So far, I’ve seen EU30xxxx as the largest case number in comments here and on various forums. Could this mean that there is not a very large number selected in 2018?
June 16, 2018 at 17:09
Possibly. The AS numbers I have seen seem to suggest a high selectee count BUT they may have done that in order to mitigate the effects of the travel ban (because cases from Yemen and Iran still get selected but mostly cannot be approved).
Anyway – we will see over the coming weeks.
June 16, 2018 at 19:07
What do I have to do next when I have submitted DS-260 and my documents are completed?
Should I just wait for them to get me informed of my interview date?
June 16, 2018 at 19:21
Yep
June 17, 2018 at 07:26
Hello
Please tell me the highest EU region CN number that you know that year.
Thank you.

Hello House, please any Dv 2019 winner from Ghana. I am a Dv winner with D7 in Science. Does the embassy accepts D7? Let’s get in touch please
June 17, 2018 at 18:44
Am also a winner from Ghana. Dv2019
1. Aside high school do you have any additional higher educational background?
2. Do you have any working experience?
3. Are you goin to the USA to work or to School? If to school then D7 is unacceptable.

Hi Simon,
I am a student, male, 20 years old, single, and my CN is 2019EU3XXX. I am from Armenia.
1. If I submit DS-260 in late June 2018 when should I expect to be interviewed?
2. I would like to graduate from home uni before my final departure to the US. I am graduating in mid June 2019 but I assume that my IV may expire by that time. So my question is: can I enter the US at some day prior to my IV/medical test expiration date, get registered there for Selective Service, fly back next week, get my university diploma and re-enter the States few months later?
3. Suppose I have entered and then left the US as it is described in the above scenario. I have an uncle in the US and I mentioned his address for the PR card to be delivered to. Can I authorize him so that he can sign and receive my card on my behalf while I am temporarily outside the US?
4. How long should I safely delay my submission of DS-260 to get an interview appointment on mid-December 2018 or later?
Thank you for your time.

1. October/November/December 2018.
2. You would be wise to simply delay submitting your DS260 until about January/February. That will cause a later interview, and make things much simpler.
3. Yes
4. see 2
