For those just being selected, you may not yet fully understand the importance of your case number. Your number is specific to your region, each region starting from 1. So there is an 2019AF1, 2019AS1, 2019EU1 and so on. The regions go up to different maximum numbers, with 1 being the lowest in each region. The number dictates when you will be interviewed, low numbers are interviewed before high numbers. Whether your number is high or low is relative within a region to the highest numbers in that region – so it is helpful in these early days to start getting an idea of what case numbers are out there.
So – please report your case number as a reply to this thread. Give your number in slightly hidden format – ignoring the leading zeros, and hiding the last 2 or 3 digits. So case number 2019AF000012345 would be shown as 2019AF12XXX. SA and OC regions have lower ranges, so just hide the last two digits – so 2019OC000001234 becomes 2019OC12XX. Always quote your number that way on public forums.
Please also give your country you are charged to (typically country of birth).

Hi Brit. Thank you for the information you make available here. It helps a lot.
My CN is 2019 AF 457**. I just got married and have unlocked my ds 260 because I had submitted in May as the instructions said as soon as possible.
My wife is now pregnant and will be expecting our baby by March 2019.based on my CN
1.do we have a chance for interview,
2.When is our case likely to be current
3. What happens if our child is born just before interview.
Thanks.
June 29, 2018 at 23:48
1. Yes
2. A year from now
3. As soon as the child is born add your child to your case. Read the FAQ about that.
June 29, 2018 at 23:56
Thank you.
My friend who played the DV for me can’t remember whether he entered some university courses or University degree as highest level of education.
However I have a high school diploma and some university courses. If he entered university degree but I enter the right information on DS260 ( High school diploma and some university courses), will that affect my visa interview?
June 30, 2018 at 01:34
No.

How long will it probably take.
Thank you Soo Much.
July 2, 2018 at 20:54
I don’t think you get a receipt number. The DS260 has your confirmation number.

July 4, 2018 at 22:11

July 5, 2018 at 13:30
Thanks for your wonderful help, please i am from Ghana, my dv case number is AF 38*** pls when should expect my 2NL
Thanks
July 5, 2018 at 14:38
DV2019 I assume. If so – it will be about 1 year before you interview.
You say you are from Ghana – but I would be surprised if you had been given that case number for Ghana. It suggests you were charged to a different country during the entry process.
July 17, 2018 at 00:48
Hi Simon! How can you tell the country to which an applicant is chargeable based on the case number? My CN is AF23XXX and I’d be interested to know how the numbers are allocated within African countries.
July 17, 2018 at 00:57
The country decides which region you are allocated to. The case number does NOT allow you to know which country the selectee is charged to.
July 17, 2018 at 01:00
Right. I was just curious because you said “You say you are from Ghana – but I would be surprised if you had been given that case number for Ghana.” to the person above whose CN is AF38XXX and I thought there might be a link between the number and the country.
July 17, 2018 at 01:11
Certain countries (Ghana being one of those) get high density of case numbers in LOW case numbers – so in DV2018 I don’t expect to see any Ghanaian cases after about 2018AF16XXX. Normally that means someone is living in (for example) Ghana, but charged to another country.
July 5, 2018 at 21:34
Hello Simon,
My DV case is 2019SA2XX. I come from Venezuela. According to your experience, when do you think I might be interviewed?
Thanks!
July 5, 2018 at 22:16
Case number under 300? OBVIOUSLY yes.
July 6, 2018 at 01:01
Thank you very much, Brit! Do you think it might be in October or November?
July 6, 2018 at 04:31
I don’t know. Exercise some patience.
July 5, 2018 at 22:34
Hi Simon,
My DV case number is 2019AS73**.
1. Do you think I would have a chance to get interviewed?
2. When I was submitting the lottery form I used am email which I am not going to use anymore. Can I use a different email address when I am filling DS260 form?
July 5, 2018 at 23:02
1. Look at previous years numbers…
2. Yes
July 6, 2018 at 20:46
According to previous years, most likely I will be invited for the interview. Is it possible that Asia reaches to its cap befor my interview? I mean is my case number high for Asia?
Thanks
July 7, 2018 at 15:08
No
July 6, 2018 at 17:00

July 6, 2018 at 17:37
Here in the comments came a guy who has case case number EU35xxx
July 7, 2018 at 17:59
the hightest number i see is 3100 foe dv 2019…i think is low selection for this year
July 8, 2018 at 00:56
I don’t think so…
July 8, 2018 at 15:53
why??
July 8, 2018 at 16:57
I saw that the biggest number for EU is 35xxx
July 8, 2018 at 17:08
That is the biggest number we have seen reported – BUT there are not enough reports to confirm that – NOR does it mean that is the biggest number selected.
July 8, 2018 at 18:49
thanks milica…understand…we can see in august how real case are for europe
July 13, 2018 at 16:46

July 6, 2018 at 21:08
Hi Britsimon,
Thanks very much for your advises and guide. I have a number 2019SA8XX, and I would to know if is possible an interview my case number.
regards
July 7, 2018 at 15:09
Look at historical numbers and apply some logic.
July 6, 2018 at 21:24
Dear Brit,
Thanks for the support here for DV selectees, your indept knowledge of the process and analysis is unmatched. I am a DV selectee and i live in Accra, country of charge ability is Ghana. My case number is 2019AF9*** and I would like your comment on the following:
Question A
1. I got married in 2012 and registered my marriage the same month and year of marriage.
2. I just found out on my marriage certificate my wife’s middle name and surname have been interchanged. For purposes of illustration I would like to use the letters A, B and C to represent her first, middle and surnames.
3. Her original name is A B C in the order of first, middle and surname.
4. On our marriage certificate I discovered her name was written as A C B, however, on the certificate, there is no reference to which of them is first, middle or surname. It’s just A C B.
I would like to know simply, would this interchange or arrangement of names on our marriage certificate be a problem in Accra considering the alleged level of fraud associated with applications in Accra?
Question B:
If any of my derivatives were to have any problems medically, could it affect our chances of getting the visa?
Thanks in anticipation.
July 7, 2018 at 15:12
A. It’s Accra. Make sure both versions are in the DS260.
B. Read the FAQ.
July 7, 2018 at 16:27
Thanks Brit, but both versions? I am new to this, does that suggest that there is an opportunity for me to state wive’s maiden name and her name as it appears on our marriage certificate on the DS-260?
I haven’t started the DS-260 application but I would like to know when I may be able to have an interview with the case number 2019AF9***. Thank you
July 7, 2018 at 16:44
As you complete the DS260 you will find a place for other names – use it.
As for when your interview ill be – well – you haven’t completed your DS260 – so you are probably already delaying your interview.
July 10, 2018 at 14:09
Hello NY, congrats. I am also from Ghana and a winner as well. Please your ds260 must be as accurate as ever. We also have a WhatsApp group for all dv winners from Ghana. You can give out ur added so I will let them add u; the page has been so helpful since all winners are from ghana
July 11, 2018 at 06:22
Thanks. You can leave ur contact so I call u or whatsapp you. Thanks indeed
July 7, 2018 at 07:24
Hey Brit, my case number is 2019AF8***, I should start my PhD in september, as I expect an early interview in October/November.
1. should I unlock my ds260 in September to add this information or I can wait and tell the CO at the interview (if he asks or should I just tell him by myself)?
2. If I unlock my ds260, will it cause a delay in processing and scheduling the interview?
P.s. I already unlock two times, the last time was yesterday.
July 7, 2018 at 15:42
1. Starting something isn’t news.
2. Read the FAQ.
July 8, 2018 at 09:38
Hi Brit,
From your experience in the past do you think I will have an opportunity for this year’s interview? My case number is 2019EU14XXX?
July 8, 2018 at 14:20
Take a look at historical numbers and apply some logic.
July 8, 2018 at 15:05
Hi, Brit.
Sorry for taking your time.
I have read previous comments but have not seen any comment on the EU but only about other countries. For this reason, I am asking you on the basis of your experience, can you tell me when they initially will start contacts from the Embassy in Europe with this number: 2019EU14XXX?
Are equal standards for all countries?
Thank you,
July 8, 2018 at 15:09
It will be several months before that number is ready – 2019, not 2018. So – relax, read and learn a bit more about the basics.
July 8, 2018 at 15:28
Brit,
Thanks in advance for answer.
Although my question is for 2019 and not for 2018 winners. Or maybe I’m not clear about my questions?
1.Are those equal standards for all GC winners?
Thank you,
July 8, 2018 at 15:41
I **UNDERSTAND** you are DV2019. I am telling you that it will be 2019 before you interview – so there is plenty of time for you to understand things. I told you already to go look at historical numbers. Do that!
July 8, 2018 at 16:06
What’s the highest CN for the dv2019?
July 8, 2018 at 16:07
In Europe…
July 8, 2018 at 16:48
I don’t know.
May 21, 2019 at 15:10

July 8, 2018 at 16:56
hi brit…can you told something for dv 2019?please
July 8, 2018 at 17:09
What? We don’t have the selectee numbers yet – it is VERY early. People need to learn some patience!
July 9, 2018 at 09:45
Hi Brit,
My CN is 2019AF33XXX from Kenya.
Chances of being interviewed before May 2019 given your past experience?
July 9, 2018 at 14:21
Look at historical VB numbers (link above)
July 9, 2018 at 17:32
i see all case number for Eu 2019 in forum…only case number i see hight is 35000..All other is over 31000….can you told something …..
July 9, 2018 at 18:27
What do you want me to say???
From DV2018, it is pretty clear that EU doesn’t “need” high numbers of selectees – so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the numbers were lower. However – we don’t know the selectee numbers yet – so people need to use a bit of common sense and patience.
July 9, 2018 at 18:47
you have right brit…thanks so so much…
July 9, 2018 at 19:12
Hello everyone:
What is the biggest number of DV 2019 we have seen reported for Asia so far? Thanks.
July 9, 2018 at 22:23
EU221xx Montenegro. Subitted DS260 in first few days of June.
What and when to expect some news, please?
July 9, 2018 at 22:26
Your number should have the year…
July 9, 2018 at 22:52
Sorry, 2019
July 9, 2018 at 22:56
So you will wait around 1 year.
July 11, 2018 at 07:38

Case number 2019AF286xx
Have not sent in ds 260 yet. If I’m to send it in August, when will I be scheduled in 2019?
July 12, 2018 at 03:00
Next year, spring/summer
July 12, 2018 at 08:16
Hi Simon,
Just saw a comment above:
“Case number 2019AF286xx
Have not sent in ds 260 yet. If I’m to send it in August, when will I be scheduled in 2019?”
and you answered:
“Next year, spring/summer”
Is that probable schedule you answered was because of the case number or because he/she doesn’t complete his/her DS-260 yet?
Thanks Simon
July 12, 2018 at 15:06
Case number.
July 12, 2018 at 15:10
Hey there,
I’ve got the number 2019EU00028***
Any chance to be asked to be interview? If so, when?
Thanks 🙂
July 12, 2018 at 15:14
It is too early to know.
July 13, 2018 at 08:48
Thanks for the reply and for you hard work.
When do you think we are able to know something more about the range of that case number (EU 28k).
I’ve checked your article `historical-visa-bulletin-numbers` and the data shows that it should not be a problem except if what happened in 2005 is repeated where the highest CN was 20600.
Did I get this correctly? Can you confirm? Thanks and have a nice day.
July 13, 2018 at 14:45
Wait a few weeks.
July 12, 2018 at 20:19
Hi

July 13, 2018 at 02:44
Hello Brit, I am glad for the opportunity this site offers for DV Lottery winners. I have a question on my SSCE Certificate which I acquired in 2001, I had an “F” in one subject and did not rewrite that subject (Elective Maths) and an “E” in another subject. Subsequently, this is what happened:
1. I got admitted into the Polytechnic to do a program for 3 years which I successfully completed with a Higher National Diploma (HND in Marketing) *Decision to go to the Polytechnic had nothing to do with the grades though but finances*
2. I subsequently got admission to do a Bsc in Banking & Finance at the KNUST.
3. Altogether I have formal working experience of about 8 years, I have being with my current employer for about 5 years now.
4. I am married (married under ordinance with valid certificate), with 2 kids, all derivatives were part of my edv entry.
My questions is, would these two grades on my SSCE certificate as described above be a point of refusal of my visa?
Thank you in anticipation of your help in throwing some light on this question for me.
Thank you
July 13, 2018 at 05:34
There are around 200 countries, I cannot possibly be expected to know about all their grading systems, especially when you don’t even mention which country you are in. Bottomline – I don’t know. If you are concerned, think about proving work experience.
https://britsimonsays.com/education-or-work-experience-qualifying-for-the-dv-lottery/
July 13, 2018 at 05:38
Thanks for the response Brit, I have a couple of thread up here so I thought that could make things easier. My country of chargeability is Ghana and I would be interviewing in Ghana. I hope that helps.
Thanks
July 13, 2018 at 05:54
Again, I don’t track requirements for each country.
July 13, 2018 at 10:42
Dear Brit,
I very much appreciate the help you are giving to DV winners.
My wife’s family name is T and her other names BC. My family name is N. My wife’s marital name appears in my daughter’s birth certificate as NBC where N is my family name; and on her passport as T espouse NBC. Epouse here means ‘married to’. Which of the two marital names is appropriate for my daughter to fill as mother’s name on her d-260?
2. Secondly, one of our children under 21 years will not be immigrating with us when we do so under DV 2019, but will follow a couple of years later. Is is correct for us to say YES to the question ‘follow to join’?
3. Lastly, I understand that parents can also petition for children above 21 years (aged out of the DV) provided they are not yet married. Is it right to answer YES to the ‘follow to join’ question if we would like to bring such a child to the US later?
Thanks very much for your help.

Hi Brit, what about 2019AS131xx, is that high number? Country is myanmar. To what extend DS-260 can be delayed? Because the principal applicant is expecting a child first week of January 2019. Thanks
July 13, 2018 at 16:35
It will be WAY after January. Look out for a post on basic questions I plan to create later today/tomorrow.
July 13, 2018 at 17:32
Thank so much Brit, for your prompt response, I appreciate it. I look forward to reading this post, I am desperate whether I should complete 260 soon or delay upto end of jan/beginning of feb 2019 to fill up with exact birthdate. I wrote to KCC indicating case number, but got not response. Thanks again for your great work to help others.

Hello brit,Thanks for creating this wonderful and very helpful websit which help to know about all dv procedure…Comming to my question I am From Nepal and My friend have been travel to malysia in early 2014 as Factory worker but his company and Agent cheated him and he was obliged to returned Nepal after getting I think 5 years of ban in malyasia….should it hamper in his dv2019 processing? What should he should do n0w? Hopping to hearing from you
July 14, 2018 at 14:43
Breaking immigration rules of other countries can create a problem for US immigration – depending on the specifics of the case. I can’t give a precise answer.
July 14, 2018 at 09:43
if not this year with a large case number. can I participate in the next DV
July 14, 2018 at 14:48
You can always try again.
July 14, 2018 at 09:48
Hello. 2019EU000285 ×× when we can wait for the interview? it’s a big number. when we complet the ds260 form, there are we didn’t wright school education and we only wrout university education how it can affect on the interview
July 14, 2018 at 14:48
You have at least 1 year to wait – so you have time to correct the DS260.
July 14, 2018 at 20:03
hello briit!Do you think for Trump affected a dv llotery??
July 15, 2018 at 00:03
No.
July 16, 2018 at 19:02
hello brrit….who are the higest cn in europe for dv 2019?
July 16, 2018 at 19:27
As you know, someone reported 2019EU35XXX. That seems to be higher than any others I had heard – so I can only go by what people have reported. Given the number of selectees I would have expected the highest number to be around 32/33 – so 35 isn’t impossible.
July 16, 2018 at 19:51
you are right…you are very very inteligent…thank you for all
July 16, 2018 at 20:12
Dear Brit,
But in your article (“DV2019 basic questions”) it’s said that the largest number for Europe is 30006.. How is it possible there is any 32K number?

Good day to all.
I’m from Kosovo
Brit,
My case number is:2019EU146XX
Roughly when do you think my interview would be?
I understand a lot of people they are asking you a same question. I just wanted to know from the past experience with the approximately case number if the interview will take place in 2018 or sometime on 2019?
Thank you, for your help.
