I’ve gathered the Historical Visa Bulletin Numbers from various sources for a few years to give an idea of progression in previous years and I will maintain these numbers as future Visa Bulletins are released.
Knowing visa bulletin progression is sometimes a useful reference, and is certainly interesting. To use the data, click the tab for the region you are interested in and check the cutoff number for the month.
There may be some similarities with number progress from year to year, but there may not. So – don’t rely on these numbers as a predictive guide for this year. One thing that confuses people is that the selected numbers vary each year depending on entries and other factors. For instance, certain countries in the past have had huge entry numbers and once those countries are excluded from the lottery the range of numbers selected changes from one year to the next. That was the case in 2014 to 2015 in AF region when Nigeria was excluded, or in Asia in 2012 to 2013 when Bangladesh was excluded.
To understand how to read the Visa Bulletin works and can be read – please check out this article.
What does CURRENT mean? That is published when KCC believes that there are enough visas for all remaining demand. All case numbers can then be interviewed.

Hi Mr. Simon,
Thank you very much for the prompt reply.
I submitted all the required documents and they confirmed on June that they have all documents and they will send me the scheduling email, which I did not receive yet. I thought when the interviews start, the “current” in VB will change to the appropriate case number. But it did not and now October VB shows the case numbers for DV2021.
I thought they may interview both DV 2020 and DV 2021 cases simultaneously whenever the embassy opens to stop having backlog for DV 2021. What i do not understand is now DV 2021 is up on VB even though we still have the US travel ban. Is there any chance if they interview both DV 2020 and DV 2021 cases simultaneously, may be for the first half of DV 2021 period ?

We will have to wait and see what is decided in the lawsuit.

Hi Brit,
Do we know any estimated time to see the decision ?
Thanks a lot !

Please be clear.

I meant, How long will it takes for the court decision ?
Do you have any idea about it ?

You haven’t clicked reply, so I don’t have any context.

Hi Simon,
Do you have any update for June, July etc DV 2020 numbers?
Thanks!

I’ll update when I get a chance, but the regions were current.

Hi BritSimon,
When is the right time to submit adjustment of Status documents. Suppose my rank number 4300, and is published in advance publication November for the december. Meaning December rank number is 4500 and November rank number is 2700. The date is 7th November. Do I wait for December to submit documents or I can submit it early in November.

The next VB should be published today or tomorrow. If your number (for your region or country) is below the stated number in the VB for December interviews you could file your I-485 immediately.

Hi Brit
Please us the VB for December 2020 finally out?

Not yet

I’m wondering if anyone knows, when you have a high ranking number (29,000), looking at the statistics you would be able to apply pretty late around May-June. Is there even a chance to get approved before September 30th (6 months)? I’m thinking about the cause when you already live in the U.S and file your DV lottery adjustment of status through USCIS?

AOS for DV can go quite fast. Your rank number is meaningless without a region.

Sorry I forgot to mention that, my region is EU00029XXX. I will not have the opportunity to file through Consular Processing and my current U.S. immigration status expires beginning of June so I’m really nervous but hoping to see my bulletin number before June so I can file my AOS. Thanks for an amazing blog!!

I observed that Visa Bulletin numbers for 2021 October/November were published. What is the benefit of publishing these numbers while all interviews are stopped at this time?
November 8, 2020 at 11:53 pm
It’s just part of the process.
December 28, 2020 at 4:49 pm
Hi,
My case number is AS24XXX. I havent received the mail to submit the documents yet.
What’s the possibility of getting documents submission mail to high case numbers like mine? What’s your prediction?
December 28, 2020 at 6:30 pm
I don’t have a prediction, but really you just need to be patient.

Hi Brit, thanks for all your effors in educating us how to go through the DV program. I was curious about the chances to win, so I scraped the data from their official website and made a Google Sheet. Here is the link for anyone that’s interested.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kYZRzQU3h8HjDGy8caj1RrIsmAK1Mc_-1uuEbvrzlak/edit?usp=sharing
This was a nice excercise in Sheets, since the data needed a lot of clean up to get it into proper form.
Best,
Peter
