And it is excellent news – ALL REGIONS CURRENT (Only Nepal limited to 7100).
CURRENT for a region means they expect to have sufficient visas for all remaining demand, so all cases can be scheduled. Happy Days!!!!
OK – Now I will be asked about when the 2NLs will go out. Typically they go out 2 to 3 weeks after the VB. So – please don’t ask me about that!!
There are quite a number of cases that did not get scheduled for July interviews that should have been. That is unusual – and I would expect those cases to be scheduled for August. I also expect some of the busier embassies will have too many interviews for August, so some people might be delayed into September. We will have to wait and see if that happens.
By the way, the July VB also included the selectee numbers for DV2017 which is even lower than DV2016 (just under 84000 selectees). So – DV2017 can look forward to being current by the end.

June 8, 2016 at 22:31
Jesus. AS1138X and current. What a long wait. When I found out how it worked via this forum, I literally gave up hope and a few months of preparation when I saw the number because I was sure it won’t reach me. However, I went back in to check again and when the number rised, I thought there maybe a slim chance. Now, last hurdle. Interview and hopefully no issues. Prepared months for this. Let’s do this guys! Good luck!
June 8, 2016 at 22:42
Good news indeed Simon, I lack words to express my appreciation for your tireless efforts.

June 8, 2016 at 23:36

America must be kidding me … I was AS 10657 last year & it didn`t reach even 8000 for Asia.
Congratulations to all who were selected for DV-2016 !!
June 9, 2016 at 01:13
After a year on this forum, reading every article, every comment and every remark, here I am, current. Thank you Mr. Brit Simon. You’re good.
June 9, 2016 at 01:26
Thank you very much Briitt, I didn’t expect that i would be current on july VB.
I have a question, I reopend and submited My DS260 on 23 May, should I call KCC and make sure that I will get my interview, or will it be updated on time ? I don’t know how it works. again, thank you very much.
June 9, 2016 at 01:45
No need to call – just leave them to do their job.
June 9, 2016 at 03:42
This is a great news for Africa. Simon, thank you too for keeping the flame burning and now here we are.
June 9, 2016 at 05:40
This is the grace of God!
Mr. Brit, it is also working in your family and your organization and in everything you will put your hands on.
June 9, 2016 at 06:27
Hi Brit, a friend of mine could not believe that Africa could ever go current due to the experience from DV-2015 year, so since his case is 523xx he wanted to submit his form, but we encourage him to do what which he already sent on June 6, 2016. My question is since Africa is current will he be call for interview in September or it is too late for the submission of his case. Please Brit he needs your advice.
June 9, 2016 at 06:40
He might get processed in time.
June 9, 2016 at 06:35
It is a much surprising VB ever that has almost current from all regions this year. De facto Nepal also goes current because it potentially has preliminary cut off around 7075 during draw.
June 9, 2016 at 06:41
Yep
June 9, 2016 at 06:51
All praises to God for your life Mr Brit, you kept my hope alive , whenever I open the forum to read your comments, I do have reason to stay calm. Really happy that Africa is Current. My Cn: Af51***. I am happy and thankful. Please when do you think we should start expecting the 2NL?
June 9, 2016 at 07:15
Did you read the article above?
June 9, 2016 at 07:03
Thanks Brit, for the response, but another question is, He submitted the form with his present passport which is expected to get expires in 5 months time, meaning he is presenting processing his new passport to take at the interview, will it not be a problem for him?
June 9, 2016 at 07:14
No.
June 9, 2016 at 09:02
HI SIR, AM SO GRATEFUL TO YOU. I wanna know if this vb only cover August interview or some cases just have to be interview in September. My CN is 2016AF00048. And sir I wanna know the total amount of selectees for 2016.
June 9, 2016 at 14:28
Some will be in September.
93000 were selected (look at the June 2015 VB for detail)
June 9, 2016 at 10:09
Hi Simon,
I have a question regarding the country of illegibility: as I understand the country of illegibility is the country where you where born if that country is eligible, in case of the county where you were born is not giving the nationality by birth, sorry for bad English, for example: (If I am Sudanese and was born in Saudi Arabia and and lived whole my life in Sudan and fill the entry form as the country of eligibility is Sudan, Since Saudi Arabia is not giving Nationality by birth, why should the reject the case).
Sorry once again and thank you for your support
June 9, 2016 at 14:27
You have made a terrible mistake. You should have charged to SA and got an ASIA region case number. Because Sudan and SA are in different regions, you will be disqualified.
June 9, 2016 at 10:09
Hello,
First, I’d like to thank you for all what you’ve done for us.
I’ve a question: I am a french student and I’ll graduate on 2018 (in two years). Is it possible for me to finish my studies in France without losing my Green Card?
Regards
June 9, 2016 at 14:24
Yes. You can delay your DV process as long as possible. Then activate within the visa validity period and plan to spend a few weeks in the USA. In that few weeks (about 5 or 6 weeks), you will apply for a re-entry permit (I-131) which gives permission for up to 2 years absence.
June 9, 2016 at 17:39
And…it’s not risky at all?
June 9, 2016 at 10:18
Hi Brits am current for July interview but when i was feeling my DS -260 form i answered to the question have you ever lived in another address other than your current address i said no but in 2015 i went to ivory coast for 12 days to get an Italian visa and later and later went to Italy for an official training on investigating and combating tax crime organised by OECD but i never included those trip on my form because they were short trip but last week i e-mailed KCC and informed them of those trip and told them that those trip were not mentioned in my DS-260 form but they told me to take those information with me on the day of the interview and the passport that am going to use has those travel history of those two visit. Do you think this will cause visa denial for failing to include those short trip.
June 9, 2016 at 14:22
If they were short periods of time (days or a few weeks) then no issue.
June 9, 2016 at 10:37
@DV 2016 No, short trips are not considered “living” somewhere, so you did not need to include those two trips in the “where have you lived” section. Now that you’ve mentioned it to them, be prepared to answer in depth at the interview, but I suspect the interviewing officer won’t ask, and if you bring it up to be safe, they’ll listen politely but won’t care as it’s not relevant to your case. BUT, I’m no expert on the US immigration, so I could be wrong…
June 9, 2016 at 10:50
Hi Simon,
AF 46xxx so glad to see we are current!!
I have couple of questions please.
1. DS260 submitted in Jan. London embassy. Should be interviewed in August right?
2. My wife born and lived in UK for almost all her life. Only other country she has lived was Australia for 10 months continuous at some point during her 20โs. Am I right in thinking only police certificate from UK is required?
3. Birth certificate โ I have my long form birth certificate which has all the required information as specified on the government website: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/if-you-are-selected/prepare-supporting-documents.html. This was issued couple of months ago, since in SA you donโt automatically get a long form certificate unless you apply for it. Now I have seen other people talk about legalised birth certificates but I canโt really find any useful information on when this is required and it does not say anything on the dv webpage as linked above. My birth cert was issued by the proper authorities, has the officialโs signature and stamp. Is this fine? I donโt know about this legalisation and if it applies to me?
4. About public charge requirement (just my wife and I going), should ยฃ40k in the bank be sufficient? My wife can work in the US for her current company. I also work for US company with offices in UK, but role is working from home office so I can also move, but Iโve only been with company for over 2 months and have not told my company about this yet. But employment contract says role is home based so I can basically work wherever I want. Should all this be ok to satisfy public charge?
Many Thanks,
Matthew
June 9, 2016 at 14:19
1. Yes
2. Unless the start and end dates of that Australia trip can be EXACTLY proven, I would advise getting an Aus police cert also.
3. It’s fine as is. It is an official extract.
4. Yes, fine. Take good proof of savings and job transfer etc.
June 9, 2016 at 11:13
Hi Brit, I got another situation that need your advice greatly, a friend is a winner of DV-2017 he entered the program has a single man with his son, He got married in January 2016 before the DV result was published, sadly his son dead last month, what is your advice,
1. Should he submit be the dead boy form and later explain to the counselor that the boy is dead, will the counselor need a death certificate? or just write KCC informing them about the situation?
2. Can he add his wife to his case?
June 9, 2016 at 14:16
1. He should not submit a DS260 for the deceased child. And yes he will need a death cert
2. Yes
June 9, 2016 at 11:15
Dear Simon
all regions current. does this have any effect on those cases under AP. (speed up clearance)
like me 100 days on AP.
thanks alot.
June 9, 2016 at 14:15
No.
June 9, 2016 at 12:35
1. As all the remaining cases are current, do you think is wise for one to start gethering the documents from his sponsor?
2. The salary payment slip, i-134, 1040 and w-2 should be recent, but not old than how many months?
2. We are two under my application, and we will attend interview in different countries. I will have to go back to my own country as I need to apply for additional documents and my wife will attend the interview in her own country where I am currently living now. My question,
– do I have to give her the copies of the docs that will be provide by the sponsor as I would be in Cameroon embassy and her in south Africa embassy?
Thanks for your reply
June 9, 2016 at 14:10
1. If you want, yes.
2. 1 or 2 months.
3. You are expected to interview together. Trying to get two interviews at this late stage is going to cause problems and risk your case. You explanation for needing to do that makes no sense.
June 9, 2016 at 17:05
Thanks for the reply, a comment for the 3 answer. On our ds we wrote different locations for interview. The reasons because I have to go back to Cameroon apply for additional docs and I thought of my financial situation, so I could afford tone pay expenses for both of us to attend the interview in Cameroon. And as I talking to you my passport is stolen. As soon I receive the appointment I have to rush to Cameroon to apply for a new passport before my interview date. Please what do advice? I don’t really want to risk anything in this stage…..
June 9, 2016 at 17:23
I meant I will not have money to support expenses for both of us. The interview locations are already separated on our final ds. And I understand when you said it is risky to change anything now. I really need your help…Please your advice
June 9, 2016 at 15:20
SALUT
est ce que vous pouvez m’expliquer qu’est ce que ca veux dire current. mon cas est 000AF55***. qu’elles sont mes chances.

June 9, 2016 at 17:30

June 9, 2016 at 17:42
Hello,
How long does it take -normally- to get the Green Card after the first arrival at a U.S. airport?
Thanks
June 9, 2016 at 19:00
2 to 3 months.
June 9, 2016 at 18:48
THANK GOD I’M CURRENT. SIMON , THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND MAY GOD TAKE CARE OF YOU & YOUR FAMILY.
June 9, 2016 at 19:22
Britsimon, Just for clarity, when a region is current for all case numbers does it mean there are enough visas available for all applicants including registered derivatives, or is the count of CURRENT case numbers only for principal applicants? In other words would the only reasons for failing to be obtain a GC in the above situation be the TIME LIMIT (Sept 30) and other disqualifying factors BUT not visa availability for principal applicant and derivatives?
June 9, 2016 at 21:11
Well, sort of, yes. There has been a year where scheduled interviews were cancelled BUT that was a country limit issue and is unlikely to happen this year.
June 9, 2016 at 19:53
Please Mr. Brit help me to follow the right channel as it is risky to ask to open the ds now. I don’t really want to miss this opportunity….pls
June 9, 2016 at 20:47
Dear simon
I think I made terrible mistake I was born in UAE but my hole life in Sudan I fill the charitablity country Sudan because I read the instruction of chartiblity country but I think read the instructions wrongly
The situation now is born in UAE and chartiblity country Sudan , do I have to proceed to the interview or no need to go further
Best Regard
June 9, 2016 at 21:12
You will be disqualified, so don’t waste your money.
June 9, 2016 at 22:29
Dear simon
Sorry for disturbed you but I found the rules of chargeability that match my case because we stay less than 6 month and get back to Sudan
Below are the rules
The rules, codified in section 202(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act,[2] allow USCIS to determine the country of chargeability according to the following rules:
When an applicant is a child, accompanied by or joining a parent, the child may be charged to the foreign state of either parent.
When an applicant is born in a country where neither of the parents was born in or a subject of, may be charged to the country of either parent. For example, if child A is born during a family vacation in Mexico, but both parents are from Germany, the applicant may be charged to Germany.
When an applicant is chargeable to a different country than his or her spouse, the applicant may be charged to the country of his or her spouse.
June 9, 2016 at 22:50
I understand that rule very well – but let me ask you this. Where were both your parents born? Why were they in SA? Had they been sent there? Can you prove that?
June 9, 2016 at 21:58
Hi sir, thanks so much for the rapid response. I really want to know how many 2nl can one receive after being current. And which one carry the main date of the interview.

And it is excellent news โ ALL REGIONS CURRENT (Only Nepal limited to 7100).
It means not possible morethen 7100 case No in 2016 from nepal..
June 10, 2016 at 14:11
Do you have a number higher than 7100 from Nepal?
June 10, 2016 at 16:04
Yes AS201773xx is my case in 2017. I want know the posibility
June 10, 2016 at 16:40
Well the 7100 number concerns DV2016. As for your number you have to wait and see.
June 10, 2016 at 08:03
Dear Brit,
1. I didn’t understand your this sentence : [By the way, the July VB also included the selectee numbers for DV2017 which is even lower than DV2016 (just under 84000 selectees). So โ DV2017 can look forward to being current by the end ]. Could you please explain what you meant? Is it DV 2017 results are also out on VB ?
2. And another question, why is Nepal stopped at 7100? Is it because there were many entrants or is it because they are taking less Nepalese to USA? p.s. I am from Nepal
3. Is there any data how many Nepalese are selected in DV 2017?
June 10, 2016 at 08:12
Sorry Brit,
I got my ans of ques. 1 from you another post. Thanks. However, I am confused on ques. 2 and ques. 3.
June 10, 2016 at 08:28
Dear Brit,
Sorry again, I got answer of que 3 too i.e from Nepal total 4000 selection. Now I have one new question.
1. What was the selection number of Nepal in 2016 as its 4000 in edv 2017..As 4000 are selected, how much is my chance being. As201740xx.
June 10, 2016 at 09:44
Dear Brit,
Extremely sorry for stupid questions which is already answered in your posts. Now I have finally found out total selection was 3800 in 2016 draw and now its 4000 in 2017.. Do u have any idea how the selection is done ? Like my case number is 4xxx and what if there were around 3500 Nepalese selected between those 4xxx. It can also be the chance, isn’t it? Or is there any process like selection through country according to alphabetical order as N for Nepal lies far. I just wanted to assure myself being from Nepal. Thank you for your understanding.
June 10, 2016 at 13:45
https://britsimonsays.com/the-lottery-draw-process-holes-theory-and-so-on/
June 16, 2016 at 00:27
Firstly, the case number below 2017ASxxxxx includes selectee from all Asia including Nepal. If your case number lie within 4100, you are pretty lucky and would have chances to get your 2NL early. From the trend of last two years Nepalese selectee are about 25~30 in every 100 selectee from Asia. If there are 30 selectee out of 100 CN from AS region, there will be tentatively; 30×41=1230 selectee from Nepal. Excluding other factors; average family size is 2 for this year (2016~1.93 and 2015~1.83) then, 1230×2=2460 (including family members)
June 10, 2016 at 14:03
It’s fine. Relax.
June 10, 2016 at 14:09
1. You answered yourself – well done – I am awarding you a prize.
2. There is a limit that says no one country can take more than 7% of the total global visa availability (call it 3500). So – when a country is near to that limit they have to stop the country and be careful not to exceed the number. In reality there were almost NO cases higher than that number from Nepal. If you read my blog you’ll understand why.
3. 4000 (you could easily have found this answer yourself, by reading the next article I posted after this one so I am taking away your prize) ๐
June 10, 2016 at 08:21
Cool, Africa went current, i am happy for you guys ! Good Luck for the interview

Hello Britt,
Since we are all Current, and we will receive the 2NL in 2 weeks, does it mean that we’ll all have our interview in august ?
June 10, 2016 at 13:41

June 10, 2016 at 14:36
hi brit, first thank you for your help, i have one more question pleae,
i filled out my ds-260 form and i put the highest level of education as vocational, after submission of ds-260 form, i was reading for the requirement education, i found that the vocational degree does not evaluate the requirment education for DV, but in our country the vocational degree is a degree after having the high school degree. could that cause problem to get a visa ?
thank you!
June 10, 2016 at 14:53
It depends on the requirements of the embassy โ check the embassy website. If your high school is enough, the later education is not an issue.
June 10, 2016 at 15:12
yes the high school is enough as requirement, i’m afraid just if they will read just the highest level which is the vocational degree , and not read the high school degree!
June 10, 2016 at 16:42
You have to have listed it all in the DS260 as the instructions said. If you did, no problem.
June 10, 2016 at 15:34
is there anymore visas bulletin ?
June 10, 2016 at 16:41
They are issued every month.
