Just in the last couple of days a number of people have received an email from KCC asking for an applicant to submit the main required documents by email. This is a new procedure implemented this week. The official instructions have now been amended to include this new procedure, so it seems it will be needed by everyone. However, KCC having the documents early may allow them to increase the speed of processing later and it may make the interview process simpler. So – if you receive such an email it is safe to respond. Note, the email address being used is a legitimate email address , so as long as you are sending your documents to this address ([email protected] )
there is no concern.
The list of documents is given in the email. There is no need to ask me about these documents. The need for translations is also explained in the email.
Importantly, the email says that an interview will NOT BE SCHEDULED until these documents are sent. So – if asked to do this – get on with it!
OK, below is the text of the email, BUT DO NOT do this too early (meaning before receiving the email) because you will see that you need to supply the police cert, so you don’t want to obtain and send that until nearer the interview.
Last thing. PLEASE read the email fully before asking me questions. The email itself contains CLEAR instructions.

Dear ************:
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members.
In order to continue processing your case, you must submit electronic copies of the documents below in .jpeg or.pdf format to [email protected]. Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address; for any document processing questions use the [email protected] email address.
Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
You will take original or certified copies of all documents you submit to KCC to your visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate. Submit the same documents to KCC that you will take to your visa interview. Any differences between the documents you submit electronically to KCC and the originals you present at your visa interview could cause delays in processing or refusal of your visa application.
Do not mail paper documents to KCC. Any paper documents sent to KCC will be destroyed.
For more information on required documents, refer to the Department of State’s Diversity Visa webpage.
Documents Required for All Applicants:
• Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
• Birth certificate
• Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military
• Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
• If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
If you have questions about document submission, you may contact KCC at [email protected]. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST).

November 20, 2019 at 20:46
Dear Sir

June 19, 2019 at 13:06
I do not have a work experience certificate but I have done work and I have filled the ds260 form of work, at the time of the interview, there will be problem or not?
June 19, 2019 at 14:17
I don’t know anything about your case. Education is the more normal way to meet the requirements.
June 20, 2019 at 14:07
Tq so mch
June 24, 2019 at 13:45
Hey brit !
as accordance to you ,to change sponsor , just simply present I134 at the interview without unlocking and changing in ds260 ?
Don’t they feel doubt ?
A lots of people I asked them replied that should inform them before interview either by mailing or by unlocking .
Thanks for every guidance and suggestion as well.
June 24, 2019 at 13:54
You have been answered. Stop asking.
June 25, 2019 at 21:27
Hi brit
Am 2020case Asia with low case number
Should i send the doc without being asked or wait kcc email
June 25, 2019 at 21:32

August 18, 2019 at 23:43
Hi Zuhair what is your case number and have you received the email asking for supporting documents?
July 5, 2019 at 13:35
Dear Sir, in the KCC email they ask only three types of document: (1)Passport, (2)BirthCertificates, (3)Police/military/court. I’m surprised they don’t ask marriage and education papers, which are known to be required to be shown for DV applicants. Is it correct to understand that applicants should only email the three documents types requested in the email first, and show other known to be required DV documents only during interview? Thank you.
July 5, 2019 at 21:42
What they ask for is what they want. Not less, not more.
July 16, 2019 at 16:14
So if I understand correctly, I can send untranslated documents if they’re in the language of my place of application?
July 16, 2019 at 17:21
Correct.
July 19, 2019 at 11:36
Hello BritSimon, I am from Nepal. I am selected for DV 2020 and my case number is AS4XXX. I received a mail from KCC today. Is there any deadline for submitting the documents? Also I and my few friends have planned to go to India this November and we will stay around 1 month there. We have already booked the flight and hotel rooms. So should I cancel the India visit assuming my interview will be scheduled early (in 2019 in my case) or is this normal like last years?
July 19, 2019 at 13:53
If you delay submitted the DS260 it will delay your interview – which is no problem, so if I were you I would submit the DS260 just before the India trip, which will mean an interview when you return.
July 19, 2019 at 15:59
Thank you BritSimon. Your help is very valuable. All I want to know is does email from KCC means that interview is likely to be scheduled with in next 4-5 months? Sadly, I have already submitted DS260.
July 20, 2019 at 16:01
How do we know they received our Documents and processing it?
Once I submitted my Documents and I received the auto reply but then asked them by mail about my case and they replied the haven’t received my documents , I am still waiting for interview 2019
July 20, 2019 at 18:52
You have to ask them if they are satisfied with your documents. If they are NOT satisfied by now, you are probably too late.
July 22, 2019 at 08:38
I don’t know what to say serious because BritSimon has helped many people. May God richly bless you on your hard work you’ve done.
My DV is 2020 and i understood more of my questions and i’m satisfier with your words Simon.
You are awesome serious. Nothing we do for you but God has opened all the doors in your life.

August 18, 2019 at 23:54
Dear Brit,
I won DV 2020 but have high case number As21xxx to get the most out of waiting tinge I want to get the documents ready anyway. The question is that I live in Saudi while I am Jordanian and asked the interview to be where I live, now the documents skills be issued from where… For example myself and wife were born in Jordan however all my kids born in Saudi and they have Saudi and Jordanian birth certificates.
All birth certificates are not in English so should I get them translated? From Saudi or Jordan?
, What are all required countries? For police certificate
August 19, 2019 at 00:14
First – you need to read the instructions.
Next – translate your documents to English to be safe. You can use local language documents, but English is always better.
Police certs – that depends on YOUR case – all covered in those instructions.
July 23, 2019 at 03:39
HELLO BRIT
Thanks for everything you did for us.
Can a dv winner 2018-2019 may be a 1.sponsor for me (2019-2020) ?
He went USA on march 2019.
2 .should I stay with my sponsor once I have been there ?
July 23, 2019 at 05:14
1. No
2. Up to you.
July 23, 2019 at 05:59
But brit he makes a lots of money.
But why he can’t be my sponsor ?
He is my close friend but he went on march 2019.
He got green card too..
July 23, 2019 at 19:49
Because he cannot show a full year of earnings/paying tax.
July 26, 2019 at 13:11
Hi brit, i was born in a place and my parents issued birth certificate when i was 13 years old (this is normal). But due to change in structure of our country that place merged with others and the area and name of Address changed. Also my family moved from the place i was born and lived in a new city after i was about 3-4 years old but didn’t take internal migration
certificate making my permanent address the same as my father’s (the place from where my birth certificate is issued). Now because the ds260 asks the place i have lived after i turn 16 i have mentioned the places i have lived after turning 16, however, the adress in my police clearance certificate is the address where i was (the form mentioned the permanent and temporary address but looks like they print the permanent address only on the certificate). So in crux,
1. the address where i was born is still there but is merged with another municipality
2. In ds260 i haven’t mentioned my permanent address because i haven’t lived there since i turned 3-4 years old.
3. My police certificate and passport have new name of merged municipality and my birth certificate has original name of VDC.
Will these things create issue? I am from Nepal.
July 27, 2019 at 03:48
No problem.
July 27, 2019 at 14:02
any idea on how long does KCC take to respond to send documents saying that they have received the documents in general? #DV2020
July 27, 2019 at 14:15
I don’t know.
August 3, 2019 at 13:50
Mr. Simon, I sent to KCC the required documents 2 days ago, how can I know if they are satisfied with my documents and if it were received correctly? Thanks… My CN is 2020SA26XX
August 3, 2019 at 15:50
You can ask them, but you will be waiting a while anyway for your case number.
August 14, 2019 at 23:54
Hi brit, is receiving a request documents email from kcc mean that your interview will be scheduled soon? Because some as2020 received this email and they have big numbers !
August 15, 2019 at 04:21
No it does not mean that.
August 26, 2019 at 08:21
Hİ Brit,
have a question about the Birth Certificate;
I was born in other country but living in Turkey since 1 year old, So is the Turkish Birth Certificate enough for the process or should i ask another one from my birth country which proves my birthplace
as an additional document?
Thanks!
August 26, 2019 at 19:29
The birth certificate would normally be issued by the country in which the birth took place – so yes – get that.
August 28, 2019 at 15:46
Sir kcc asked me to submit documents and I submitted documents. And I got mail from kcc regardings documents received after 1 days. Then I found some error in birth certificate so I made new one and again sent all documents to kcc but I don’t get mail regardings document received even after 3 days. Sir does this bring problem?
August 30, 2019 at 09:26

Hi Brit,
Yesterday, I have received an email from KCCDV requesting my documents. Now I submitted them.
A question:
– How long does KCCDV takes to review my documents and when they usually set me up with an interview?
– There were no question about sponsorship in application. Do I have to find a sponsor for myself? And how much should I show?
Thank You.
Adam
September 19, 2019 at 16:01

Hi Brit,
My case number is 2020AS00001900. I got my second letter. My interview was schedule for November 21. I have sponsor, he got Green card last year, and I have his w2 and tax documents, he makes more then 100k a year. I heard, from November 3, there will be demonstrate insurance. Do I need to get insurance from Nepal? Or what should I do for insurance? Is it necessary to present insurance at the time of interview?
October 24, 2019 at 00:10
The new insurance requirement is not clear yet. You will need to wait and hopefully we will have an idea how the requirement can be met prior to your interview.
October 26, 2019 at 12:34
Hi Brit,
Thanks for your great job to help us. KCC asked to send any military records. In the former Soviet Union when I attended university, I was in reserve-officer training department and in Israel I did reservist training for one week. Does it count as military record? Thanks!
October 26, 2019 at 20:39
Possibly – you should assume yes.
October 27, 2019 at 22:39
Hi simon,
KCC asked my cousin for military record but he never served in military,is this document compulsory ? he is from Algeria.
Thank you
October 28, 2019 at 02:43
It is only for those that served although if military service is required in your country then he may need to provide written proof of how he was exempted.

Hello Brit I win DVLOTTERY 2020 and I received the e-mail requesting documents from KCC. I am born in Italy, I always have lived in Italy until now. I have produced all documents in italian language (birth certificates, etc…) and I choose Naples in Italy for interview. My question: it is enough that documents are in italian or I must produce them also in English?
November 20, 2019 at 05:34
Italian is ok when interviewing in Italy.
Please read the instructions (this question is answered there).
December 20, 2019 at 17:19

Hello Britt am asking for a friend
They are D.v 2020 the principal applicant was interviewed from the Ugandan embassy June 2019 then he was referred to Nairobi embassy in December 2019 then he took the required documents for the family to the Nairobi embassy and then called him after a week to take the passports at each contact at the embassy he had to pay money even when submitting documents. They retained the passports and after they called him to pay visa fees which he did. After that he was told everything is cleared and he was told to have medical on 27th December 2020 and was given a traveling date 15th Jan 2021. Also was told they will arrive in a camp where they will be taken care of for 3months despite having a contact person in the US. Please urgent help needed cause I smell fraud.
January 10, 2020 at 17:55
Yeah, none of that sounds right. Someone is bullshitting.
January 11, 2020 at 08:12
Thank you Brit it’s until yesterday when I met my friend that they got to know they had been conned of 20million cause I explained the process and the husband wasn’t going to American embassies rather hotels. I even found out they were not selected. Everyone be aware of conmen.
January 11, 2020 at 16:21
Sheesh. I’m sorry to say but your friend must be extremely gullible.
January 21, 2020 at 12:59
thank you for your response in advance, i have asked kcc about the documents i have sent is whether received or not but they responded like this: “Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.
For February, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2020 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number:
AFRICA 25,000 Except: Egypt 16,000
ASIA 12,000 Except: Iran 6,500
Nepal 7,575
EUROPE 14,000
N. AMERICA 8
OCEANIA 1,350
S. AMERICA 1,150…. ” does it mean my documents are received? thank you again for your response!!!
January 21, 2020 at 18:43
No. It does not mean that. Check carefully what you sent to make sure it was complete, named correctly and so on.
February 11, 2020 at 20:57
Hi,
I am a DV2020 winner and I emailed my and spouses’s required documents (birth certificates, passport biographic pages, marriage certificates and police clearance certificates) to KCC 2 months ago . I labelled them in the correct format as well.
However, now I received an email saying “Thank you for submitting your Diversity Visa documents to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). After reviewing your documents, KCC has determined that you have not sent the required documents for review. Please review the required documents listed below and verify that you have submitted all required documents.” What do you think the reason for this is? Thank you.
February 11, 2020 at 22:19
I have no idea. Follow their instruction.
February 11, 2020 at 22:18

We only need to present our high school diploma at the interview, is that right?
So Kcc doesn’t really check if applicants are indeed eligible?
Thank you

They ask for proof of education to meet their requirement.

Dear Brit,
My son was born in late July this year and he hasn’t had a passport yet. Can I submit his DS260 without adding his passport in the form? Or my son must have a passport to be able to submit DS260?
I am a DV2021 winner. My case number is 2021AS14XXX. Is it a high or medium or low case number? If I submit my DS260 and all required documents in October or November or December this year, when will I expect to get interview?
Thank you so much for your kind effort. Your channel helps me a lot.

You need to get him a passport, but for now you can submit using the passport of one of the parents, then update later.
Interview mid 2021.

Dear Brit,
Thank you so much for your kind response. Based on your response, it means that we can update our DS260 later after submitting. Is that correct? And after updating, do I need to submit again or what should I do?
If KCC requests for required documents, while my son still doesn’t have a passport, should I submit all documents, excluding his passport or I must wait until my son has his passport?
Thank you so much for your kindness.

You can read about unlocking in the FAQ.
You need the passport for the document submission to KCC.

Hi Mr Simon, thank you. Can I send my documents to kcc without receiving the email, will the documents be approved?
October 10, 2020 at 19:59
Sometimes, but the risk is that you send the documents before they (KCC) are ready so they lose the documents. Just wait.
