This visa bulletin covers December interviews.
For those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 2 weeks from now. I know I am going to get a lot of people who will ask me this exact question – so let me say that again. 2NLs for December interviews will be sent in about two weeks time. They will include interviews for cases that have been made current in this latest visa bulletin AND backlog cases that were already current last month but the DS260 was
We don’t know how far KCC will have progressed in terms of what submission dates will have been processed. Last month most 2NLs went to people who had submitted up to mid June. However, as I always point out – processing times for each case can be different, meaning two cases submitted on the same day may not be fully processed by the same day. As a guess I would imagine most submissions up to mid to late June would have been processed in time – but once 2NLs for this month are out we will see better.
Whilst DV2015 is still processing, this is the first visa bulletin of DV2016. Read this link if you are unsure how to read the visa bulletin.
For those that cannot understand why the pace has slowed down, please read this post from a month ago that explained the backlog effect on the VB.

Hi simon,
Do you know if the USD $330 DV application fee should be paid during the interview by credit card or should I pay before the interview date? If so, where to pay? Thanks so much!
October 13, 2015 at 23:13
You pay at interview, in cash generally.
October 13, 2015 at 23:48
Hi Simon, i sent a request to kcc to unlock my DS260 because i forgot to update my Olevels, my case # is AS6$$ , submitted my initial DS on 8.09.2015. Will i get a chance for interview, Will the changes cause major delay
October 14, 2015 at 00:17
The initial submission was late – so that is what will delay you but the changes won’t add much if anything at all to that time.
October 14, 2015 at 07:55

October 14, 2015 at 13:53

October 14, 2015 at 14:01
Hi sr my surname was misspelled in my id document for many years but was rectified recently, on birth certificate and passport it was still correct. in Ds260 form where they ask if there was other name used can i put that misspelled name? Am a derivative.thanks
October 14, 2015 at 14:27

October 14, 2015 at 14:30
Hi Again, I recently had made an enquiry to my application. I got the reply like this- Your case is current for interviewing processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled you will receive an email notification. I am from Nepal and my case no is around 230 and the DS269 form was submitted in mid June. Should I expect my interview on December? Has anyone have similar experience? Please share?
October 14, 2015 at 14:55
The reply means they are scheduling your interview now – you will get a December interview.
October 14, 2015 at 17:32

Hello Uncle Brit,
Thanks a lot for your relentless efforts. As a regular follower of your post and comments by winners and non alike, I have a concern.
My number is AF20169*** and am currently not in Africa. But still I can’t get my 2nd NL though my number is current base on the visa bulletin. I filled and completed the form since late June. “What should I do? ”
Best regards…
October 15, 2015 at 12:58
I answered the other post. You submitted too late for November interviews…. you will get December
October 15, 2015 at 14:36
Thanks a lot.
October 15, 2015 at 15:55

October 15, 2015 at 17:31
Sir, my new baby born 2week.what do you now?.my case no 55xx from nepal
October 15, 2015 at 18:48
If you have submitted your DS260 you need to email KCC to ask them to unlock so you can make the changes on your forms and also add the DS260 for the child.
October 18, 2015 at 18:48
Sir, whan send kcc email after 2nd letter or befor? Which document need ?
At that time could I chang sponsor address?
October 18, 2015 at 19:05
You submit all details in your DS260, but you don’t send any documents to KCC. You take them to your interview.
October 18, 2015 at 22:21
Sir whan unlock ds260? After 2nd letter or befor.
October 19, 2015 at 02:00
It has to be before.
October 15, 2015 at 19:23
Hi Mr.Simon,
I have a question regarding my name in eDV and DS260
My name in eDV entry is 3 parts: Mona Ahmed Abdelreheem
But my name in passport and birth certificate is 4 parts: Mona Ahmed Abdelreheem Omar
I mentioned my 4 parts name in DS260 as my name in passport and birth certificate: Mona Ahmed Abdelreheem Omar.
and added my 3 parts name in Other Names (alias): Mona Ahmed Abdelreheem.
Would that pose any problem or make my visa denied because my name in eDV is 3 parts and name in legal documents is 4 parts ?
Kindly advise, I’m in great anxiety.
Thanks.
October 15, 2015 at 23:56
Make it accurate in the Ds260. Then it should be ok.
October 16, 2015 at 00:53
Hi, my question is before my I and my wife marry she wrote her full name as her signature including the marriage certificate.
When she did her passport she change her her last name to her husband last name.
Can we continue with this? Or should we change her passport to her old signature?
October 16, 2015 at 05:36
The signature is not an issue.
October 16, 2015 at 00:57
Any idea when af40xx will be available for interview? Submitted September 29, 2016
October 16, 2015 at 05:35
AF40XX (4000 ish) is already current, but your late submission will probably delay the interview until about March.
October 16, 2015 at 07:24
Hi Brit, pls a question on my present occupation for DS 260. I was trained at the university as a biochemist but I am currently not working with it due to inadequate jobs in Ghana. For now I work in trading of building materials in one of my father’s company in Ghana. Can I use this business as my present occupation or I should use the Biochemist one? thanks
October 16, 2015 at 17:30
One is training, one is your job. List your job under job, and your training under education.
October 16, 2015 at 08:44
what if dv2016 selectee participate in dv2017?? do this alter dv2016??
October 16, 2015 at 17:27
No issues with that
October 16, 2015 at 13:10
Hi Brit. I have some questions. 1 what is difference between high school with degree and no degree?
i input my high school as a no degree in Ds-260. for the part what is received i wrote certificate. is that right? i am pretty confused on that. Actually i got bachelor’s degree. and My wife who is the principal applicant has also bachelor’s degree in the university. is that case is it not important to worry about? or should we change it? if we can it , does it take more to time to have an interview or no ?
thanks for reply in advance
October 16, 2015 at 17:20
You should correct your forms. Doing so may cause some small delay, but right now that is a very important piece of education history missing from your form – so correction is necessary.
October 17, 2015 at 03:12
Hi Brit. i posted my question but i could not see them . are they automatically deleted?
October 17, 2015 at 03:17
You posted the same question twice. I answered one and deleted the other.
October 17, 2015 at 03:21
actually [email protected] and [email protected] is the same users. as you know my case. now wrote to KCC to reopen my ds 260. i have some confusions. i attended MBA and after one year i cahnged my mind and quit in 2013. now i am studying in MBA in different university. for my previous MBA . what should write in degree diploma and certificate received field in ds 260? my wife has been working 3 years as a teacher. the work does not require to have at least 2 years of work experience or training. she has 1 month training every 2-3 years. so what should we choose “yes or no” in does your job require at least 2 years of training and experience field? last question is that I finished undergraduate 4 years of study in y country. which is better to write degree or diploma?
October 17, 2015 at 03:49
Hi Brit. I really appreciate your help so far. But i need your advice above mentioned post. whenever you have time leave a reply.
October 17, 2015 at 04:01
1. document your education as it is. It doesn’t matter if you make a minor mistake – but don’t make stuff up.
2. For your wife, choose yes.
3. For your education write degree.
Stop stressing and overthinking.
October 16, 2015 at 18:48
Hello Brit Simon, was watching the bulletin SA and only saw increase in the amount of 25 interview, I would like to know why the increase was so little and if that negatively affects people who have such high numbers of cases to time to wait for your appointment
October 17, 2015 at 01:15
This explains the concepts.

October 17, 2015 at 01:08
what does CEAC data and AP cases mean?
October 17, 2015 at 01:13
CEAC is a system that shows status on cases but so far is not loaded for 2016
AP is administrative processing – some cases are delayed before approval while extra checks are made or additional documents provided.
October 17, 2015 at 02:10
when CEAC data will loaded?
October 17, 2015 at 02:30
Last year it was late December
October 17, 2015 at 09:09
Hello, I find your website really interesting and useful. I have a question: in the photo for the DV lottery I wear a tank top. Do you think this is a problem? Because I’ve read the DV lottery instruction regarding clothing and they don’t say that tank tops are not allowed.
Best regards
October 17, 2015 at 14:51
Yep they don’t care about that…
October 17, 2015 at 15:11
Hi bitsimon when do u think i might be call for an interview ur response will ne of great help ti me my cn is 2016af946 thanks
October 17, 2015 at 16:33
You keep asking – and I have answered before. Your number is current – so it simply depends when you submitted your DS260.
October 17, 2015 at 15:42
Simons I have current number since october but no 2NL.
D260 submit is july first or second. When will I get my interview?
Thank you very much sir.
October 17, 2015 at 16:32
Probably December (2NL in less than 2 weeks)
October 17, 2015 at 16:02
Hi Brit , thanks for that clearity. When do u think case # Af16600 will be schedule for interview
October 17, 2015 at 16:31
Maybe January/Febuary, depending on DS260 submission date.

October 17, 2015 at 17:23
Waiting for what – do you read the replies I already gave you?
October 17, 2015 at 16:37
Hey Simon,
Thank you for your kind support. .. I am a dv 2016 winner with a case number which is current for november interview but I’ve submitted my form kinda late (23rd of July) so am expecting the interview to be on December… and I have two questions:
1- on the first registration of the lottery I’ve filled my third name as a last name but when I issued the passport it has been issued with my fourth name as a last name then I submitted the form as what in the passport (fourth name as a last name).. do you think that will make a problem??
2- about the sponsor does the sponsor have to be the same person that I filled on the form (the address on USA) or there is no relation between them ??
Thanks in advance 🙂
October 17, 2015 at 17:22
1. It is up to the CO – usually that would be OK.
2. No issue.
I think you might miss December interviews, FYI…
October 17, 2015 at 18:05
I submitted my ds260 on august 3rd
October 17, 2015 at 18:11
Am sori uncle brit i did not see dem but i jst did thanks am greatful
October 18, 2015 at 11:05
hello Brit hope you are doing good. I just recently made an inquiry for my case they said I am current just now and that they are processing my interview. I submitted some may 20th with a case number af14380 will I be able to get a December to interview?? pls help. thanks
October 18, 2015 at 15:00
Probably, yes.
October 18, 2015 at 16:20
do we need to show evidence of financial support while dv interview??
October 18, 2015 at 18:13
Typically, yes.
October 19, 2015 at 03:59
bt i saw in embassy website, there they said financial support(eg: support of affidavit) is not necessary
October 19, 2015 at 04:26
I doubt that very much – which embassy is that?
October 26, 2015 at 00:41
nairobi embassy brit
October 26, 2015 at 02:48
That quite simply is not true.
First, the public charge requirement is not something that Nairobi or any other embassy can exempt people from. Then there is no such statement on the embassy website – in fact quite the contrary there is a clear statement as follows:-
“EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Evidence that will show that any and all applicants are not likely to become public charges in the United States must be presented. ”
This is in keeping with immigration law and cases that I am personally aware of.
October 19, 2015 at 05:06
http://nepal.usembassy.gov/dvchecklist.html
October 19, 2015 at 05:08
oh sorry! they didnt say support of affidavit
October 19, 2015 at 10:12
Just because they don’t list something does not mean it isn’t sometimes needed. In Nepal, most selectees seem to get by showing a letter from a US based sponsor/host. However, if something like that is not available the embassy would be entitled to ask for financial proof, and one possible solution would be an I-134.
October 19, 2015 at 10:34
Hello Brit hope you are awesome, pls can do ask when will people start receiving mails fro. KCC about their interviews. thanks once again
October 19, 2015 at 11:00
late October.
October 19, 2015 at 10:35
sorry to be precised the December
October 19, 2015 at 15:51
hello brit i want to ask questions about this visa lottery system.my friend was interviewed on 8th September and her visa was approved as she was given a white congratulatory paper and was told to collect her visa on 26th September on the 26th September she went to the American Embassy Sierra Leone to collect her visa and she was told to go home as they will contact her as soon as her visa is ready.she waited for about one month and finally on Friday 16th October 2015 she received a call from the embassy asking her to go and collect her particulars.she thought she was called to collect her package but unfortunately upon arrival she was told they couldn’t provide a visa for her as they have exhausted all the visas that where available and her passport was handed back to her.
brit why are they treating people like this and why are they frustrating educated people?is the educational and work requirement really meaningful?are they really looking for people that will boost the American economy?brit i want to know if filling a case against the embassy will help her overcome this problem if not for the visa but for her money to be refunded.
brit this is really pathetic, frustrating and unfair after all the struggle, money and time.
October 19, 2015 at 19:41
Sorry to hear about that outcome. There are a lot of people in that position – I am sure of that.
The process is controlled by laws. The education/work experience requirements are part of those laws and is fundamental to DV approval. So – if someone is refused because of that, the refusal is appropriate.
The purpose of the DV lottery is not in any way about boosting the US economy. Remember that immigration to the USA is over 1 million people per year. Some of those are family based (not to do with the economy), and some are work based (those are aimed at aiding the economy). The DV process is less that 5% of the immigration annually and it is about diversity. The standards of education required are purposefully set low – so it is not a case of trying to find the smartest people – it is about making sure America remains a country of diversity.
Regarding filing a case. There are many notices to selectees all the way along the process to say that selection, and even further processing does not guarantee a visa. There were also warnings to people that fees would not be refunded. Over the years, many have sought to challenge this – but the reality is that the consulates cannot be held accountable. The selectees don’t have the rights, the embassies gave various warnings, and the laws in place mean that decisions are not “personal” in any way.
So – as frustrating as it is, I honestly believe that spending time and money trying to get back some of the expenses would be a waste of more time and more money.
October 19, 2015 at 20:25
Wow that seems tough.
According to you opinion Brit, do you think this kind of scenario can happen for selectees in Europe – being interviewed and approved and finally get no visa?
What about DV2016 selectees who will be current in Summer 2016?
Thank you a lot for your time and kindness. It’s really appreciated!
October 19, 2015 at 20:51
It did happen in 2015. In 2016, EU has far fewer selectees – so I believe EU applicants will not have an issue as long as they prepare well for their interview.
October 20, 2015 at 13:46
It is so unfortunate. Could it be happened to the selectees from Nepal (2016)??
Thank You in advance.
October 20, 2015 at 13:52
Yes.
October 20, 2015 at 16:02
Does it happen if they meet all the requirements and be prepared well for interview?
October 20, 2015 at 18:12
Some people miss out. It is impossible to rule that out – so until the visa is in your hand you have some risk.
October 21, 2015 at 07:16
I believe they don’t disqualify the selectees with no reason. On what basis they do so if the selectees meet the requirements with no fraud issues and the visa is available for them?
October 21, 2015 at 13:37
Well getting cleared through AP too late means administration processes have to happen in a timely manner to allocate a visa. The embasy do not have total control of that – because KCC have to control the count of visas centrally – so that undoubtedly leads to some people not getting visas.
October 21, 2015 at 15:08
Satisfied !! thank you very much.
October 26, 2015 at 01:23
brit am of a view that something should be done it cannot continue like this otherwise people will fear further processing, i know they follonw the law but still the law was implemented by people not God so as they put that law they should also put another law defending such people, and what i know laws defend people but don’t misuse them.
October 26, 2015 at 02:52
Cannot continue like what? You are entitled to your view, but I don’t understand what you think is unfair. As you say, laws are made and implemented by men, not God and has nothing to do with anyones’ personal religious beliefs. When they make the risks clear from the very beginning, people need to be aware of the risk and decide for themselves if they want to participate. The rules of the game are made available – some decide not to read the rules.
October 26, 2015 at 08:24
well the risk is clearly stated in the beginning but under one condition of not qualifying in any way but if they verify that I qualify and the visa approved also and then after they sorry me that the visas are exhausted whose fault is that and don’t you think for that case money should be refunded. thanks
October 26, 2015 at 13:52
No, that is not true. The risk of not getting a visa for visas running out is very clearly stated in the very first letter saying you were selected. Again, the fact that they do not refund the money is made very clear.
October 19, 2015 at 19:51
Hi Brit
Thks for the great work you are doing here
my cn is 2016af12xxx. i submitted my ds260 july 25 with every other infos except passport. i am already current. i donot know whether to unlock my for and fill in passport details now or just wait and carry it to the embassy. If No/Yes will it affect my interview sheduling by kcc
October 19, 2015 at 20:00
Yes you must unlock – the passport is very important. Do it as soon as possible – they will not have reached your submission date yet anyway.
October 19, 2015 at 21:55
Good day Mr. Simon
I have a question. I am a selectee of 2016 dv and would like to play the 2017 dv, but my problem is when i played last year i did not include my children and i could not include them on my DS because there were not on the initial entrance, i did this out of ignorance. now, as i am going to play again i would like to list them, but i am a bit worried if i entered and when they check my background info and find out that there is conflict of information, is it not going to affect my application negatively? what are you suggesting?
Thanks
October 19, 2015 at 21:59
Well I suppose you need to decide what to do about the DV2016 win. If you are going top process it (which means NEVER admitting the children), then the DV2017 entry with the children would be a bad idea.
However, Do you really think you can/will process the DV2016 win???
October 20, 2015 at 11:14
I have already completed the DS. But due to my higher CN AF00051276 on dv2016 win, I thought to play the dv2017.
October 20, 2015 at 13:55
Yes that is wise.
October 20, 2015 at 07:25
hey Mr.Simon tnx fo ya blog…and i was wondering abt some issues i just filled in Ds260 …i puted other documents option rather than my passport and ma CN is 2016AF10xxx and i submitted on 26th may and what do u think??
October 20, 2015 at 13:59
You should update the form with your passport. You need the passport for the interview.
October 20, 2015 at 07:27
do u think it wld affect my schedule date?
October 20, 2015 at 08:26
my case number is AS41** and one of mine colleague’s is AS38**…..and i submitted DS260 on 25th may and he did it on 2nd week of june. if we both being current in same month, who wiil be interviewed first??
October 20, 2015 at 13:57
Within the month there is no longer a need to respect the case number order.
October 20, 2015 at 13:14
Hi Brit, pls I need your urgent response. My wife is a dv 2016 winner and that makes me a derivative since we registered as couple. Our case number is 2016af5*** and we are now submitting our DS 260. Pls my problem is that after we completed the form today, I signed and submitted hers and her form now shows completed with submission response from KCC confirmed however mine still shows incomplete and whenever i try to click the sign and submit button, the system doesnt load and my form still shows incomplete just because i cant sign but have filled every part of the form. pls help me is it normal and what should i do?
October 20, 2015 at 13:53
Contact KCC to ask them how to resolve it.
October 20, 2015 at 14:18
prof how old are you ? if you are less than 26 years old you cant sign and submit your DS still you agree to register for selective service
October 20, 2015 at 14:05
Dear Prof,
before you click on sign and submit button, first you have to open read the instruction which is found before the sign and submit button then your DS260 form will be submitted as soon as possible. I personally faced the same problem. before.
October 20, 2015 at 14:37
so mr.simon do u mean that i have to ask kcc to unlock it?
October 20, 2015 at 18:13
KCC unlock forms, yes.
October 20, 2015 at 15:13
thank you so much guys @brit,@ephe and @sanoube…..it worked for me. i am 25 now but will be 26 in November. I opened the instructions and it worked.
October 20, 2015 at 19:51

October 20, 2015 at 19:55
“i did have a reply why” I don’t understand what you are asking now.
