September 20, 2017 at 4:36 pm
hallo brit,am gitanga from kenya can i use the birth certificate of my baby to submit his form ds 260? The reason am asking is that our system in Kenya the passport takes time before it gets out. because i already submitted my form and that of my spouse, now status has changed. tnx wait to hear from you.
September 20, 2017 at 5:04 pm
For the baby, people often use the passport number of the parent to submit the DS260 before they have the child’s passport.

Hello dear Brit mu wife is winner her dacuments are ready but i lived in Belorusia İtaly. 45 day ago i applied for my court records in our ministry of external affairs but there is no answer what do you think without that documents what can happen?
September 26, 2017 at 4:52 am
Have you followed the instructions from the reciprocty page??
Available. The Certificato Generale del Casellario Giudiziale is a certified national record of final court convictions and decisions regarding mental incompetency and bankruptcy or a statement that no such record exists (Nulla). The Certificato dei Carichi Pendenti is a certified record of pending criminal charges, or a statement that no such charges exist, from the office of the Procura della Repubblica in the applicant’s place of residence. Both certificates are required from immigrant visa applicants residing in Italy.
Persons within Italy can obtain the Casellario Giudiziale by applying in person or by mail at any office of the Procura della Repubblica. The Carichi Pendenti must be obtained at the Procura della Repubblica in the area that the applicant resides. Such offices are located in all major cities and in many small cities and large towns. Those who apply in person must submit a written request, a photocopy of a photo ID and all fees; the certificates are usually provided the day of the request.

hi Brit how can i register for interview
October 2, 2017 at 6:29 pm
KCC schedule your interview. Once scheduled, some embassies ask people to register with a courier – but the embassy provides instructions about that.
October 5, 2017 at 3:16 pm
Dear Brit what are the documents to be prepared for an interview. Would be more than glad to receive ur support as solicited.
October 5, 2017 at 11:25 pm

October 13, 2017 at 3:53 pm
please how would i get to know my dv lottery interview appointment date .when my case is current in the Visa bulletin?
October 13, 2017 at 4:18 pm
Check the FAQ for how to read the visa bulletin.
October 16, 2017 at 5:18 pm
1 how many days will i wait after i took my interview to get visa for dv 2018?
2 for how many years is the visa validity?
October 16, 2017 at 5:34 pm
1. Normally 1 to 2 weeks
2. It is unclear what you mean. The status (LPR) is not time limited. The GC itself needs to be renewed every 10 years. The temporary visa must be used before the expiry date – which is 6 months after the date of the medical.

Good day Brit.am a DV winner 2018. Please my questions are:
1-My mom’s name on the DS-260 form was written as NANGE PRECILIA instead of PRECILIA NANGE as written in my birth certificate can that be a problem?
2-when filling the form I also put that am in the university 3rd year but has not yet gotten a degree bc the school year was not yet finish and now am in 4th year can I still take my transcripts to the interview to show that I now have a degree despite the fact that it contradicts what is in the form?
3-My medical results will only be ready after my interview bc I hard to do a further test and the results will take time b4 coming out, does that reduces my chances of getting the visa?
November 17, 2017 at 3:28 pm
3. Delay, just delay.
December 4, 2017 at 5:22 am
Hi Simon! I am entering/qualifying on my work experience rather than the education. My job matches the requirements on onetonline and I’ve got letters from my employers stating the information. My interview is in Jan, do you think there’s any other docs I’d need at this point? Have you heard of people successfully getting their GC from employment based entry only? Thanks so much.
December 4, 2017 at 2:44 pm
Yes I have known successful cases.
December 23, 2017 at 1:19 pm

January 30, 2018 at 2:27 pm
If you have time, get a new one, otherwise I think it would be acceptable.
February 8, 2018 at 3:15 am
Hi brit simons, I was trying to find the info on high school requirements the way you described in the video. I’m for the equivalent for Germany under the us embassy in Germany but can’t find anything. Am I bliiiind??? https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/diversity-visa/
February 8, 2018 at 4:32 am
It’s possibly not listed. It would be the point (usually at 18 years old) where you gain the education needed to enter University.
March 1, 2018 at 3:32 am
Hello Brit.I’m Atta, a dv winner.I will go for my interview on the 5th march 2018.When I was filling the ds form, I only used my senior high schoool certificate in Ghana since that was the only certificate I had.Eventhough I was at that time schooling in a nursing institution with that certificate. But I thought because I have not completed yet there was no need to add that.1.please can I take a transcript and a letter of attestation from the nursing institution to the embassy during my interview since I’m in the final year.2.should I give the trascript and the attestation plus the documents I submitted earlier to them if I’m asked of my documents or shouldn’t add the attestation and the transcript. 3.if I add the attestation and the transcript if I’m not asked to do so will that affect me.
March 1, 2018 at 4:32 am
2 & 3. I don’t know what is “normal” in your country.
March 1, 2018 at 6:58 am

Wanted to get your thoughts on something… My husband has ordered police certificates from three different countries. The UK and Canada ones will be here on time but we’re worried about his Irish one. Due to the crazy weather they’ve had recently, the mail is seriously backlogged. We ordered our police certificates even before we had a 2NL but clearly that wasn’t early enough with all the snow.
The question is – what do we do if it doesn’t arrive in time? We have 3.5 weeks still but are not sure what we should do if it doesn’t come. Do we need to reschedule our interview?
Thanks for any insight.
March 10, 2018 at 4:43 am
No – attend the interview as scheduled and follow up with the police cert when it arrives.
March 16, 2018 at 1:15 am
Yikes… Brit I’m on every page..I’m sorry. But about the affidavit of support, it’s not an exactly required document but important to have. How do I get it?
March 16, 2018 at 2:42 am
It varies by embassy and by case.
April 5, 2018 at 9:09 am
Hi Brit, I wrote yesterday but unfortunately i selected my email address to receive notification instead of this platform.
My question is, if a lady travel with her husband bearing his name and give birth and do a DNA test and notice the child is not his, can the man filed immediately divorce?
April 5, 2018 at 5:01 pm
I am not a divorce lawyer.
April 15, 2018 at 6:31 am
Hi Brit sir greetings.can we know the result of interview on that day?I mean wether visa approved or refused. Please let me know sir
April 15, 2018 at 2:05 pm
They tell you an outcome – but you have to wait until you have the visa in your hand – usually a week or two later.
April 20, 2018 at 4:14 pm
Hi Brit, im 2018 dv winner, i just got 2NL for June’s interview, my problems are almost all my documents are copy of legalized document, cause i lost the original long time ago. Is it gonna be a problem to accept my case?
For example; high school certificate ,they only published once, so if i lost it i got the duplicate only with legal stamp.
April 20, 2018 at 4:18 pm
I can’t really answer that – it depends on procedures in your country, the embassy procedures, the CO and so on.
June 22, 2018 at 6:14 am
Good Day Brit

1)How can I register for Courier Service

1. Follow instructions from the embassy.
June 23, 2018 at 3:47 pm
Recently when I went for my medical examination for the DV , I was diagnosed as suffering from Syphilis.
The doctor just started treatment for me with Benzathine penicillin G (2.4 million units administered intramuscularly), that needs to be done for 3 times with one week apart for each injection.
Once I have completed the 3 weeks treatment, will I have to do another test to confirm, that I am cleared from Syphilis?
Will the officer reject my DV since I once suffered from Syphilis but got treated ?
What are the chances of someone getting the DV approved once treated for Syphilis?
Please help. Thanks
June 23, 2018 at 7:00 pm
If the disease is treated and cleared, it doesn’t pose a problem.
July 18, 2018 at 3:24 pm
Hi Mr Britsimon
my name is Robert, the names of my mother that I filled in Ds260 are different from the one on my birth certificate, mbabazi Angela but mbabazi nzera.
Will dat affect me?
July 18, 2018 at 3:29 pm
Maybe – it depends whether they will be convinced it is your birth cert.
August 4, 2018 at 9:28 am
Thanks a lot for this blog, it has hell of an info.
I have a question in mind that I could not find an exact answer. I am a selectee for DV2019 from Turkey. However I lived in the Netherlands for a period of 2012-2014 (I was doing my masters degree). Should I bring police certificate from the Dutch government too?
It seems like an hussle to get that document but of course getting a visa is more important 🙂
Also my husband and I lived in Spain for a brief 6 months should we get a police certificate from there too? (we were also students at that time)
August 4, 2018 at 1:28 pm
You will need a PC from the Netherlands. Read the official instructions.
August 4, 2018 at 3:46 pm

Read the DV2019 Basic questions.
August 4, 2018 at 5:55 pm
Ethiopians please share us your preparation for interview,,??
August 21, 2018 at 7:04 am
Hi Brit, thanks for this usefull video. You do not mention anything about the required issue date of those documents. Indeed I will need to translate some of those documents from French to English. When do you recommend me to get those documents without being too early and too late for the interview?
August 21, 2018 at 1:20 pm
Only the medical and police certs have a need to be recent.
October 22, 2018 at 7:22 am
Thanks Brit, I am currently looking for translator French into English for a potential interview in Madrid. A translator asked me if the documents should also apostilled. I have seen anything related to this morever i believe that the embassy will verify the authenticity of the documents since we need to bring the originals. Please help.
October 22, 2018 at 7:28 am
Sorry fort the typing mistake, it should be:” I have not seen anything related to this…”
October 22, 2018 at 4:21 pm
Read the embassy specific instructions.
October 22, 2018 at 8:20 pm
Do you mean that every embassy has its own rules?
October 22, 2018 at 8:37 pm
They can have their own procedures based on documentation standards, yes. You need to read the instructions.
December 2, 2018 at 4:44 pm
Hi Brit, we are French but residents in Spain since 11 years ago. Do we need a recent police certification from France? I assume that the Spanish cert should be recent because we live here, if no need for recent police cert from France I can make the transitions already.thank again.
December 2, 2018 at 6:35 pm
I had to ask for a police certificate from France. It’s free and they send it to Spain in only a few days.
You will have to translate it to Spanish or English, though, even if the certificate doesn’t have any annotation (assuming that is your case). I paid 55 euros for the translation (two certificates).
December 2, 2018 at 10:25 pm
You probably need one from France too. Check the instructions to see what you need.
December 2, 2018 at 11:05 pm
Thank you both. Yes I need Police cert From France but I am wondering if I could translate it now even though my interview might been planned for June or July (or never lol). Since I have lived in Spain for more than 10 years, I might need for the interview only a recent police cert from my current living country (Spain) and maybe an older police cert from France is enough. I want to be prepared as soon as possible especially if they require soon documents via emails…
December 3, 2018 at 4:09 am
Wait a few months.
November 9, 2018 at 9:38 am
Hi Brit, Is it an issue to travel to the USA while we are waiting for our interview invitation? I traveled last summer for holiday to NC however our trip was planned much before we participated to the lottery last year. Now, I might need to travel for business. I know that for other visa it might be a problem. Cheers.

December 9, 2018 at 11:21 pm
Hi Simon, i’m attending my interview tomorrow in Sydney and believe I’m prepared. I have my originals and photocopies of those originals. Just wanting to triple check I do not need to get the photocopies certified?
December 10, 2018 at 2:20 am
Normally not – but the embassy instructions should make that clear.
December 10, 2018 at 11:56 am
Hi Tamara, how was your interview? My interview in Sydney is going to be sometime next year in May/June. Thank you for your answer
December 10, 2018 at 2:27 pm
April 3, 2019 at 7:31 am

Follow instructions/procedures for your country.
April 4, 2019 at 11:52 am
I have my interview in last week of April. I have one question for my interview:
I have a personal account worth more than 10K USD, Do I still need to ask my sponsor to fill that support form? or that is not needed.
April 4, 2019 at 2:24 pm
There is no 100% certain answer – it depends on the CO. Sometimes the CO will be happy with 10K in savings – sometimes they will want more or a sponsor (I-134)
May 23, 2019 at 9:16 pm
I’m Venezuelan but I’m chilean resident. I am selectee for Dv2020, i was reading the documents required for the interview but I don’t have in my power my high school diploma because it was kept in the university where I studied, the department of documents it’s closed. I only have my high school records as a support of my education, It says all my credits and final grades, do you think that could be enough?
May 23, 2019 at 9:30 pm
Maybe, but think about other ways to prove your full education.
July 27, 2019 at 4:03 pm
What are the importent questions asked during interview?
Is these questions importent?
1.what is ur purpose of visit?
2.where will u live there?
3.what will u do there ?
July 27, 2019 at 6:30 pm
That is covered in the FAQ. Please read it, and the interview experience stories.
September 1, 2019 at 6:07 pm
I lost my original birth certificate . In our country Sudan the Ministry of Health issue equivalent certificate to your birth date but it only show the Year of Birth and normally like this format
Date Of birth 01/01/1975 Or 01/01/1980 is that will be acceptable for US embassy
September 2, 2019 at 5:28 pm
October 5, 2019 at 8:30 pm
Hello Brit greetings
I have gone to high school but no Diploma will that disqualify me from obtaining a visa?
Presently i have been working as a security staff in dubai for more than two years now
October 5, 2019 at 8:42 pm
I cannot say whether your education meets the standards required in your country or not.
Your work experience as security staff will not help.
November 27, 2019 at 4:45 am
Hi Simon, I have my final interview in Sydney in a weeks time. I have qualified based on my education and have those documents ready to go. I am wondering whether I also need to have proof of employment records? The Aus US embassy website doesn’t seem to have a clear answer to this. Thanks in advance, kind regards
November 27, 2019 at 11:48 pm
If you are qualified through education they will not ask for employment records as well.
December 9, 2019 at 1:35 pm
A friend of mine received an email from KCC as below.
KCC has determined that you have not sent the required documents for review. Please review the required documents listed below and verify that you have submitted all required documents.
Even though he has sent all the required documents. So what shall he do do suggest?
December 9, 2019 at 6:12 pm
He needs to check what he has sent. There is something missing, or illegible.
December 28, 2019 at 4:12 am
I was a winner in 2017 with my family they never called us. We filled everything that was need we don’t know what happed
December 28, 2019 at 9:08 pm
Your case number was probably too high.
