The “April” bulletin has been released. It includes details of case numbers that are current for May interviews. There are four months remaining after this bulletin to be scheduled.
I am very disappointed at the EU number. I was hoping KCC would get through the density plateau (which they have) AND add another 1000 or so (which they haven’t). What that probably means is that the decrease in interview capacity we saw last month is not just a single anomaly, but probably indicative of the ongoing capacity. That is sure to make EU high case numbers nervous – with good reason.
The other regions are progressing more or less according to expectation.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. I know I am going to get a lot of people who will ask me this exact question – so let me say that again. 2NLs will be sent in about one or two weeks time – that means the latter part of the month. The schedule is that VBs are published between the 8th and the 15th of each month, and 2NLs go out from the 15th to the end of the month (most typically around the 20th to 24th). This is the same every month, so there is no need to ask me.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

lmao
March 13, 2018 at 23:26
Younes it s hopeless
March 13, 2018 at 22:08
Hey Brit what do you think about SA region progress, could be “Current” this year despite of your prediction that no region woulb be “Current”, thank you as always for your comments and work
March 13, 2018 at 23:30
Birt Simon fails too ha
March 13, 2018 at 23:50
my case number is EU29xxx and i ‘m so nervous. i hope Mr. Simon dont fails all this DV18 progress and my case number is safe.
March 14, 2018 at 00:00
You know I actually don’t run the lottery – right?
March 14, 2018 at 01:06
Dear brit, yes i know but We pay attention to what your think and the predictions. Our greatest wish You are not mistaken. You are a good man.
March 14, 2018 at 00:06
Ironically – you spelled my name incorrectly.
March 14, 2018 at 00:21
it is not about pass or fail. Its prediction. I hope you understand what that word means. As for sir Mr Brit , he is doing a marvelous work from his heart to help some arrogant people who simply don’t understand the meaning of free help. Peoples comment like yours are discouraging . Sir Mr. Brit I would like to tell you that because of you i understand this lottery procedure very well and I did made some mistakes on my DS but I corrected it after discussion with you. Please sir Mr. Brit don’t be discouraged by some people , You are a great help to people like me
March 14, 2018 at 00:38
I don’t get discouraged by small minded people.
March 14, 2018 at 07:50
Thanks a lot Brit
Never mind those cankerworms who said you have failed, because they themselves don’t know what a blog like this is all about or even have the ability, capacity or tenacity to manage such because they’re not always patient and very optimistic but always discouraged that is why failure is associated with them.
I can imagine how many times you have said those numbers are predicted according to previous DV analysis, but some bitch think you work at KCC,if they can’t be patient they’re free to leave the blog for me alone so I continue to follow the process and track the visa bulletin simultaneously.
Mr Brit I salute your energy and efforts in analyzing this tedious job for free. I am not moved by the Visa bulletin pace because I know gradually but slowly they will get 41803 and you guys know what my Visa is there waiting for me . others look far but I look farther with faith and hope.
March 14, 2018 at 14:02

Hi! Brit. Just wanna be clear about affidavits of support. I’m working and I have about 10,000 us dollars in my account 1) can I present my bank statements to the embassy if ask without any affidavit from a friend or any family members both at home or in the US ?
2) Or do I still need the affidavits after I present the 10k bank statement ? Thanks Brit
March 14, 2018 at 05:01
You can present bank statements but if they are still not satisfied they will put you on AP while you obtain an I-134.
March 14, 2018 at 13:41
I just want to clarify that in most if not all countries that give you the option to show that you have your own money, it has to be an american bank account. This is especially true when the applicant’s country has capital control measures or other restrictions in taking large sums out of the country. For Greece, I was informed that this was in fact the case. They don’t typically ask the applicant to demonstrate that they won’t become a public charge but if one didn’t know anyone to fill the necessary forms and decided to show individual means then they would need an american bank account with a sum same as the one that would be needed for other types of visas where it is more common. In that case the sum needed would far exceed 10,000 (on the american bank account).
March 14, 2018 at 20:41
You are basing this global statement based on your own experience. It is NOT correct at all in general. Please don’t make such statements when you have such limited experience.
March 14, 2018 at 03:33
Still CEAC site shows me “AT NVC”……i am getting so scared…
March 14, 2018 at 03:59
Don’t waste my time. You asked about this – I answered.

How much is the dollar value of your time? Name it and I’ll make sure we pay that!
March 14, 2018 at 21:45
I don’t do this for money – but I have limited time.
March 14, 2018 at 05:01
Dear Simon;
I think this post(VB for April 2018) will be the one to have annoying and frustrating comments but please arrow me to express my findings and correct me where I might be wrong:
PS: I am talking about AF region
1.Based on ceac data; between AF 21,100 and the last AF case number which is AF52,581 there are 15,388 real cases(this can be verified)
2. Based also on your post on vb pace and embassies capacity; it turns out that the monthly capacity is beween 2500 and 3000 cases per month.
3. There are 4 months ahead before the end of DV 2018
So:
IF visas are not finished and assume that the maximum cases to be interviewed are 2500 per month; I think cases number up to AF 46,318 will hopefully get a chance to be interviewed.
You may ask me where are the factors like success rate; derivative rate; holes; density etc etc but I this * IF VISAS ARE NOT FINISHED* covers those factors.
Good lucky to everyone
March 14, 2018 at 05:21
That is in line with my previous estimates.
March 14, 2018 at 06:23
Thanks Mr Simon,
I also want to add my common sense comment on this “vb pace”.
I pass my free time analysing ceac data and I found that people should not stress themselves. WE HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE as you always advise: The situation is not ideal but it also seems normal in some ways.
WHY AM I SAYING THAT?
Assume that all cases labelled “issued”,”AP” and “READY” are visas granted or are likely to be granted( I know that all AP will not turn into issued and all “Ready” will also not turn 100% into issued and for “Ready” cases there are derivatives that i cant know so for those matters let us the best case scenario that all AP and Ready cases will be granted visas and to make things simple the ” refused part ” of ” Ready cases will cover this issue of derivative. OK)
So my point is that as per the same assumption a total of 17,306 visas worldwide out of 50,000 are granted or are likely to be granted and we already pass the middle of the process (there are only 5 months ahead us and 32,694 visas are out there awaiting us.
Then let me jump to AF region; 7,937 visas are granted or are likely to be granted as on 12/03/2018 and from 21,100 to the last AF case number 52581 there are only 15,388 cases.
So do not worry guys; everything will be fine. And as Simon always says “worrying doesnt help” we have just to wait and see.
Good lucky
March 14, 2018 at 05:58
We can only wait and see @AF420XX
March 15, 2018 at 06:36
You really know how to calculate wami. I pray it reaches that number in your estimate. These people are really frightening us.
March 14, 2018 at 05:19
Brit, hi,
Does it worth writing to KCC an email to find out the appointment date earlier than 2NL? Do they have that information? The reason to write is to find out the appointment date earlier
March 15, 2018 at 17:55
I got my interview date, thank you!
March 19, 2018 at 15:14
Andre please what is your case number and did you write them before your interview date was sent to you
March 14, 2018 at 05:32
Dear Simon,
Do you think AS 9xxx is safe?
Thanks!
March 14, 2018 at 05:53
Greetings Mr simon pls my worry is looking at the VB for 2017 it got current in April 34900 AF region and we just have 24800 for April 2018 AF region Sir do u think the process will still continues looking at this similarities my case is AF 25900 or do we still have the chance for interview thanks Sir
March 14, 2018 at 17:07
There are 4 months left. Your number is not high. Be patient.
March 14, 2018 at 06:03
Dear Simon,
First, I would like to thank you for all your response to my questions, here one more, I passed my interview on November 5th 2017 at US embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan but my case is still in AP, the question is that i was not asked about my bank statement or affidavits of support and so on at interview, do you think it is caused my case to be in AP or something else.
Thank you in advance,
March 14, 2018 at 12:51
Hi Karim,
I am also a winner from Afghanistan with case number AS13000. Can you please share your interview experience?
March 15, 2018 at 04:40
Hi Ghazi, We have the same case number, like you do ! Would u like to discuses our possibility of getting interview ? Plead PM me, thanks
March 14, 2018 at 17:05
I don’t know the reason for your AP – but AP times can vary greatly. All you can do is wait.
March 14, 2018 at 07:05
Hello Brit! Just sayin u think that the pace will continue around 2k cases for month right?
March 14, 2018 at 07:23
HI BRIT THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRAET WORK!!!! MY QUESTION IS IS 25*** IS SAFE OR CAN IT BE CURRENT FOR THE NEXT MONTH(JUNE) VB
March 14, 2018 at 07:24
FROM ETHIOPIA
March 14, 2018 at 14:04
Wait and see
March 14, 2018 at 07:43
Hi Brit,
Thank you for your patient and motivating us about bulleting progress. my question is many of us wait and hopes to bulletin progress to be current. I consider that it would be current last or last two months. So, how the progress on current issues move ?
Thanks again
March 14, 2018 at 14:02
Most regions will not be current.
March 14, 2018 at 09:03
I am convinced that the slow progress is about Trump and his politics. He (or somebody connected to him) probably gave KCC instructions to slow it down as much as possible.
March 14, 2018 at 09:24
Utterly nonsense, have you seen the numbers or response and approval ? Why does it always have to be a conspiracy theory, both the response and approval rate are way higher this year than previous years. Yes they are slowing down but not because Trump told them to, but because the quota for visas is getting filled fast by the lower numbers
March 14, 2018 at 09:38
I don’t think that VB progress has something to do with Trump. In fact, the number of visa issued is higher than in previous years. Although (being with relatively high CN) I would like the progress to speed up, I have to admit that KCC found a good peace in order to almost equally spread visa issuing throughout the year. About 8K visas are issued in EU for 5 months (an average of about 1.6K monthly) from a total of 18K visas (about 1.5K monthly excluding AOS) for the whole FY. One of the main reasons is the higher density as Brit explained many times. Maybe there are other reasons like higher derivative rate, higher response rate and so on but there is nothing to do with Trump. I am almost sure that by the end of the year all visas will be allocated at least in EU.
March 14, 2018 at 13:02
Nicole we have created an whatsapp group with eu high cn. I liked your optimism and we need som of your dose. Please join us ?
March 15, 2018 at 23:01
please add me this group my whatsapp number +994508582418
March 14, 2018 at 13:39
Nicole , I think the problem is the number of selectees in those three countries. I can tell you for sure that the agents have nothing to do , especially Albania. They are reall cases and they willingly applied for the lottery. They are all waiting for interviews and none of them is going to be nonresponse
March 14, 2018 at 13:41
🙁 🙁 🙁
March 14, 2018 at 13:51
I know, it is sad , but unfortunately for Albania case this is the truth. They will all go even if they know that they don’t qualify. No high school, no work etc
March 14, 2018 at 13:56
i mean if they dont qualify, they will be refused and visas can be re-allocated….
March 14, 2018 at 14:00
True , but it is taking time
March 14, 2018 at 13:58
That really is nonsense – and NOT AT ALL accurate. The issued visas at this point are HIGHER than in previous years.
March 14, 2018 at 20:27
Mr. Simon does this mean that despite the slow progress another problem is the high number of issued visas which means less visas left?
March 14, 2018 at 20:45
I don’t know what you are referring to – but there is a quota which is lower than the number of visas “wanted”. So – there will be some left without visas.
March 14, 2018 at 09:26
Hi Brit,
Is it possible slow EU pace (about 1200 cases per VB for last 4 VBs) to be because lets say just one of EU embassies have lots of interviews scheduled for these months, not just this VB but also from previous VBs and that to lead to slow down whole EU region?
March 14, 2018 at 13:57
That isn’t what is happening.
March 14, 2018 at 14:53
but what is happening!?
March 14, 2018 at 15:20
i mean, that is what we thought so far. 3 countries- more selectees than usuall-> less capacity in the emabssies of these 3 countries-> progress in the whole EU slows down. If tats not it, what is it? what is the reasoning behind it?
March 14, 2018 at 16:19
All I see left is that for the amount of the cases that was current the approval rate was higher than previous years
March 14, 2018 at 09:28
Hi Brit, i just wanted to know when the vb is publiced does the ceac change automatically for thoes who are current or its updated after the 2nl is sent? Thanks
March 14, 2018 at 13:29
Yes it does. You can read previous article.
March 14, 2018 at 13:56
After 2NL
March 14, 2018 at 09:52
Hi Sir;
Thanks for your work . I want to know more about 1-134 Form .When I should prepare and how I should get it? please tell me specifically standard procedure.

March 14, 2018 at 13:28
One more month to go.. I should be current in the next VB. Thanks Brit.
March 14, 2018 at 13:38
Oh – is it July then? No.
March 14, 2018 at 14:11
Hello. I have no. BE 35 9 *** but the problem is that my son has been 21 years old on January 26th, and this seriously jeopardizes him to be left without a visa for age, I want to know if there is any possibility of interference or request, in order to speed up the process in his favor. Thank you.
March 14, 2018 at 20:37
I am not clear on your region or case number. However, you are not entitled to an interview faster than your number dictates for ANY reason.
March 15, 2018 at 09:49
Hello Hazir you seem to be from Albania or Kosovo by your name and eu region. Your number in a bit high same as mine, i am from Albania. If you had an interview because of your high number it will not be before september. You will be very lucky to be called for an interview same as me. Everything to do for now is to wait till mid july to know if your number will be current or not. You can not request for a speed up because the whole process is based in numbers and priority is for low numbers. Probably if you were lucky for your green card, your son can join you later with family sponsor visas. I hope you were lucky
March 15, 2018 at 14:03
@Eridon – where do you see EU region??
Also – sponsoring an adult child is very slow – the current wait is 7 years.
March 15, 2018 at 14:32
Because of his name. He has an albanian name and sometimes we confuse Eu with BE (in albanian be means europian union)
March 15, 2018 at 17:54
BE – OK.
March 14, 2018 at 14:28
Hi brit got a little worry the person sponsoring my document lives in Canada but has given me an address of a friend of his willing to receive me at the USA want to know if there will be a worry concerning the i-134 form and please what can I do ??
I don’t have a job yet or any asset just from finishing from the University
March 14, 2018 at 20:35
The person completing the I-134 must be a US resident.
March 14, 2018 at 14:52
is 2018EU301xx a safe number?I can not sleep. I am very worried.
March 14, 2018 at 20:33
You are going to have to be patient.
March 14, 2018 at 15:27
U2 giants have a lot of low cases (up to 20000) and have high derivatives (Ukraine – 2,42, Uzbekistan – 2,62)
March 15, 2018 at 14:37
And what is the derivative rate for the other countries?
March 14, 2018 at 16:38
Hi Brit,
My CN is current in April, but I submitted ds260 1 day after the VB had published. The CEAC status still shows “ At NVC”, so I’m waiting for my 2NL now. Will the CEAC status move to next step before I get an email or 2NL?
March 14, 2018 at 20:14
After you get the 2NL – and your interview will not be in April.
March 14, 2018 at 22:18
Thank you Brit!
I know my interview won’t be in April, so I’m waiting for my 2NL for the interview in May or June. Hope I can see my 2NL soon!
March 14, 2018 at 22:24
So I will get my 2NL first , then the CEAC status will show “ in transit” or “ ready”, right?
March 14, 2018 at 22:26
Typically, yes
March 14, 2018 at 16:55
mr simon

March 14, 2018 at 20:13
Wait and see
March 14, 2018 at 19:59
I have a general question regarding the whole DV program if you don’t mind.
When they say that it allows 50 000 persons a permanent visa. Do they count their derivatives within them or it’s jut 50 000 winners and the total number of people allowed to live in the USA might be much more bigger?
Thanks.
March 14, 2018 at 20:01
Includes derivatives.
March 14, 2018 at 20:23
Thanks for your reply.
I’m sorry to bug you with this again.
Could you please be more precise? English isn’t my first language and your response could be understood in different ways.
March 14, 2018 at 20:47
The 50k number includes derivatives.
March 15, 2018 at 02:03
Hello Brit i really cant sleep, what do you think about EU 23***, is this number safe?
Please give me your opinion.Thank you so much.
March 15, 2018 at 02:16
Of course it is! If you had taken any time to read ANYTHING about VB pace you would have known that and been able to sleep without asking me!
March 15, 2018 at 02:20
Thank you for your reply!!!
March 15, 2018 at 06:31
Natasha, you can sleep with your number without any doubts 🙂 Are you from Russia?
March 18, 2018 at 14:12

March 15, 2018 at 04:25
hello Brit, we are grateful for your kind work..am a selectee 2018. When i was filling my lottery forms, i had a lady i was staying with for 10yrs but not officially married. I have with her 1 Child aged 8 now..on entering the draw, i included my son leaving out this lady because we had no proof of marriage(marriage certificate).
After winning i went and officially married this lady and added her on my 260 forms.
some people are telling me that if i did not include her initially, this will lead to my visa denial. It was my first time to enter this draw though luckly won but didnt have experience..
1. What is your view about it sir because am worried because dont want to waste my money and then get denied?
2. I was not officially married though been with her for 10 yrs..was is right to call my self single , awaiting for marriage after winning?
3. Can this child act as a bond btn us after going through rightful procedures and i added her on my form 260
Your response is my last resort
Thanks so much
Be blessed forever
March 15, 2018 at 04:43
1. The “some people” you spoke to know nothing about DV.
2. You did everything correctly.
3. All three of you can get GCs. Just make sure you each have DS260s.
March 15, 2018 at 06:18
Thanks Mr.Brit..for your response but in your answers to me, you have said “ALL THREE OF YOU CAN GET GCs”.
What do u mean Sir by GCs?
March 15, 2018 at 07:14
Green Cards
March 15, 2018 at 07:45
Thanks so much for that motivation ..God bless u sir
March 15, 2018 at 05:13
Thank you Britt
It’s been long wait and almost all queries been addressed beautifully.
I am from Nepal .. looking at the current progress what do suggest be the final cut off for this year for Nepal.

March 15, 2018 at 05:26
I don’t know.
March 15, 2018 at 06:50
Hello sir,

March 15, 2018 at 10:04
Hello guys . I need some help here . during interview do you go with certify copies of your documents and their originals or you go only with photocopies and their originals ????? Thanks
March 15, 2018 at 13:59
Most embassies don’t need certified copies – but some might. So follow instructions for YOUR embassy.
March 15, 2018 at 10:43
Hi brit wanted to know when probably I will be receiving my 2NL for may Interview thanks
March 15, 2018 at 13:55

March 15, 2018 at 12:16
Thank u brit for all your efforts, my question is what are the possible reasons to not get 2nl?
March 15, 2018 at 13:47
If you are current and have submitted your DS260 in time, you get the 2NL
March 15, 2018 at 15:20
Hi Brit
My case is AS53XX. It’s now current.
I just recieved email notification to check kind of update at EDV. It’s still 1NL. Then I checked at CEAC link, it shows “in transit” and my case is at embassy. Is this normal?
March 15, 2018 at 15:26
1NL has changed to 2NL now. My appoinment has been scheduled.
March 15, 2018 at 15:44

Hello again.
8 months, 18k cases, 12k visas issued. With ratio with recent density, to fill next four months with 6k visas left, it will end up about +9k cases. But density will increase twise (or not?) as expected, so it means +18k cases, and around 36k cases current in september. Roughly as you expected before, but now as you mentioned, it not working any more. Where i am wrong? Sorry, if a missed something important, and answer is obvious. I Just cant throw out this from my head.

You are mixing all sorts of things. 18K case numbers is not 18k cases. You then compare apples and Oranges to get to the 9k x 2.
12k issued is a prediction I assume – because it is far higher than the current number.

In that case i realy don’t understand how they will issue all this big amount visas left in so short period without the realy huge process speed up.
Perhaps i have to stop thinking about it, analyzing, and so on. I spent to much my nerves already. I just will wait day, when my case become current.

Hey Mr. Britsimon I am a winner of the DV 2018 and have a quick question. I am 52 years old now and I was in a different country for 7 years of my life from my age of 16 to 23 years specifically. I understand that I am required to produce police clearance for every country I have lived in after the age of 18 but I am unable to get the police clearance from the country I lived in for those 7 years( from age to 16 to 23). I would kindly like to know if this would be a problem. Thank you in advance for your time.

You are expected to provide those police certs unless the reciprocity page for the country gives a reason why that is not possible.

Hi Brit about this Subject in 2006 I lived 10 month in curacao. I went to the reciprocity page and in curacao in police récord says unavailable. What that mean? Thanks
March 19, 2018 at 14:01
That you are not expected to supply a police cert from there.
