This is for April 2019 interviews.
It is clear that the new document procedure has created a backlog. This backlog is obviously a factor in the VB progression. Normal logic would say that if cases cannot be scheduled because of the new document process, that would mean the VB would be able to move faster. However, there is a backlog of cases from previous months that is absorbing a high number of the interview slots available each month, and that will cause an opposite effect on the VB (slowing). So – it remains to be seen how each region will be affected. The effects will probably not be the same in each region, because a region such as AF is slow to react to a new procedure whereas other regions will react faster.
As I have explained before however, I do expect pace of the VB to increase toward the later months. Why? Firstly because it always works that way in the regions where there are country limits. Density reduces in later number ranges, so more case numbers need to be made current to get the same number of cases to interview. Secondly the new document procedure will mean that some people will not be able to be scheduled to be interviewed, so again, KCC would then have to increase VB pace to fill the interview spaces. But as I mention above, the backlog will have an impact on that, so I would urge people to “wait and see”.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. But given the low numbers that may not be necessary. I would expect the 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hey Brit, Hi all. My full name has two first names and two last names. But when the KCC sends me emails asking me to send documents and tell me that my documents are valid, they mention just one name to each and do not mention the second. Would you it be a problem?
February 17, 2019 at 22:35
No
February 17, 2019 at 23:34
Hello, I’ve learned a lot from your blog …. Can you tell me something please ??? how backlog issues can be created up to EU 13500 ….. I do not ask for a “precision” answer. because I understand that nobody knows …
February 18, 2019 at 00:04
I don’t understand your question. What do you not understand?
February 18, 2019 at 00:24
how many issues below 13500 did not get interview date ??? Can you give me an approximate number ??
February 18, 2019 at 00:36
That would be a very unreliable number.
February 18, 2019 at 01:24
i don’t understand your answer…can you explain??
February 18, 2019 at 15:08
I will not give you the backlog number because I cannot be accurate.
February 18, 2019 at 00:56
I am EU13xxx and still get nothig…i wait and see
February 19, 2019 at 19:59
Denis, did you get any e-mails asking for documents to be sent online? My case number is close to yours, but I didnt get any e-mails yet.
Thank you in advance
February 18, 2019 at 03:23
Brit i need a suggestion. I’m 23 and I’ve been together w/ my gf for 3 yrs, I will marry her immediately after i passed my DV interview, 2 years process etc I’m aware of that.
but I’m thinking to marry her before interview now, the problem is, i don’t have a job, i just graduate bachelor etc, for financial situation, full support from my parents , 20.000usd more No problem they can make a check and write a letter statement( a refundable gift), Do you think this will create problem?
should i go By myself and marry after? because of course i will find a job and paying tax.
February 18, 2019 at 15:09
It’s really your choice. Plenty of people marry after selection.
February 18, 2019 at 15:10
It won’t be a problem. My wife was drawn for the green card last year. We married and sent the documents together (she added me as a spouse the first we sent the documents). At the time we were both students at university and didn’t have job. We had some money in the bank and as long as you have a proof that your relationship is long you are good. We are in the US now so I can tell you that from my experience it wasn’t a problem.
February 18, 2019 at 06:00

@smsadat. I do not appreciate the unnecessary and rude replies you gave to someone else. I have deleted those idiotic comments. In future – be respectful how you treat people and if you can’t, stay away.
February 18, 2019 at 15:11
Patience!
February 18, 2019 at 21:02
Hi Brit,
I have a question about the backlog of cases. If there is a huge backlog towards September, does it mean that interviews cannot be scheduled regardless of the visa bulletin being current for the specific region? If a visa bulletin becomes current for a region, is it very likely that interviews will be scheduled for the applicants who already have their documents submitted and processed earlier?
Thanks,
February 18, 2019 at 22:27
Yes it could cause some difficulties if the backlog is not resolved by then.
February 18, 2019 at 21:12
Hello Brit how are you? Sorry for my silly question. In the ESC site should we fill the confirmation No that we checked our 1st selection or CN?
February 18, 2019 at 22:27
Confirmation number.
February 19, 2019 at 03:16
Hi BritSimon, I know you have plenty of this kind of question but i couldn’t find some spec details. EU21xxx, why I still not getting anything and couple people that I know which has higher number than me already got email a month ago and already got reply everything is OK and just wait for visa bulletin, how i still didn’t got mail to send documents? I will send documents tomorrow but do you know the reason why?
February 19, 2019 at 03:18
We don’t know the order in which they are sending email requests. We know it is NOT case number order.
February 19, 2019 at 10:50
Filip, I’m EU18XXX and still no e-mail requesting documents. Sent mail to KCC and response was “we are processing your case, so be patient and wait” (to be short).
February 19, 2019 at 06:09
Hello!
Do they have quota for each country?
If yes, how many for Lebanon & Syria?
Thanks a lot
February 19, 2019 at 14:25
No.
February 19, 2019 at 09:00
Hi Sir,
What do you think in which regions the effect of backlog will be high?
Best regards.
February 19, 2019 at 14:27
AF
February 19, 2019 at 15:20
Hellow mr brit hoping you are fine .please my case number is af27xxx till now i have not received any email from kcc asking for documents.my question is that should i submit the documents or should i wait for the email to come first?
February 19, 2019 at 16:01
Your choice.
February 19, 2019 at 18:29
Hey Brits I just wanna be clear with this, are the bulleting being done according to the case numbers? Becuase it seems people with even higher numbers than me have received their emails. But I had a mail that my documents are intact but it still not in yet.
February 19, 2019 at 21:10
Case number determines whether people can be scheduled or not – but does NOT affect whether they can be asked for documents.
February 19, 2019 at 22:31
Okay because Im AF18xxx still not gotten my email yet. I have submitted all the documents and they replied saying Iv submitted every documents and they are intact.
February 19, 2019 at 18:30
Thanks for this blog Simon. My sponsor changed her address, what can I do? My case number is AF24*** ,but I didn’t received any email about documents submission
February 19, 2019 at 21:10
Just update the address at the interview.
February 19, 2019 at 18:51
Hi sir
Any chance for AS region more visas
February 19, 2019 at 21:11
There are plenty of visas in AS region. They will not use all the existing quota.
February 19, 2019 at 19:05
hello Britz, how long will someone has to wait for interview appointment after he has submitted his DS260 form for over three months.
February 19, 2019 at 21:11
It primarily depends on the case number.
February 19, 2019 at 21:12
1. Yes
2. It varies.
February 19, 2019 at 20:16
Hi simon, thanks for making out time to provide answers to our questions. my case number is AF30*** and I submitted my DS 260 form in November. Now am pregnant and I don’t know if I should include it into the form or just let them know at the interview. Could I be disqualified for being pregnant? Waiting for your response. Thanks

Thanks
February 20, 2019 at 14:18
Hey brit, what is the best answer to what will you want to do in US? If you have filled your ds260 as not known for the moment.
February 20, 2019 at 14:20
YOUR answer is the best answer – not mine.
February 20, 2019 at 17:28
LOL
February 20, 2019 at 17:27
Just to let you know that I’ve received a 2NL for April appointment.
Just to give a bit of timeline to everyone waiting:
– EU7XXX
– Submit DS260 mid-december 2018
– Sent docs mid jan 2019 / confirmation 24h after
– received 2NL 19/02
February 20, 2019 at 17:30
Great. Did you send the documents because they emailed you, or did you send them without being asked?
February 20, 2019 at 17:32
Sent before they asked.
February 20, 2019 at 17:49
Great thanks!
February 20, 2019 at 17:54
Hello EUDV,
If it’s not hard for you could you please approve, did I get it right, that you send documents without being asked?
February 20, 2019 at 18:05
Yes. My number was current in December, so I figure out it would help to send the docs over.
February 20, 2019 at 18:07

February 20, 2019 at 18:22
Thank you EUDV and Brit !
February 21, 2019 at 16:49
@aram which country are you from?
February 20, 2019 at 17:39
Hi Brit! I’ve received an e-mail saying that I can check my status, my number is current and I think I’m going to have an interview in April. But I don’t know what is the confirmation number that I have to enter with 16 characters. The confirmation number form my DS has 10 characters. The case number is 2019EU000XXXXX has 14 characters.. so what is the combination that I should enter?
Thanks!
February 20, 2019 at 17:51
It’s the confirmation code from when you entered the lottery – NOT your case number.
February 20, 2019 at 17:49
Update All:
They started sending Appointment letters out for April interviews today. Just received mine! AS48**
Best of luck to all,

Hi Brit, I have received my interview date but it is in London even though on my paperwork I requested to interview in Sydney. Is this something that can be rectified so I don’t have to pay thousands on flights? Thanks for your help!
February 21, 2019 at 02:24
They base the interview on the current address (not based on what you request) , so did you have a UK address? You might be able to contact KCC to change it if you act immediately, especially if it was their error (i.e. you did NOT have a UK address as your current address).
Otherwise you can go through a change request process, described in the FAQ.
February 22, 2019 at 08:35
Mr Brit pls my baby is just 4months will she need

2 to 4 yes.
Read the instructions.
February 22, 2019 at 16:05
Hello Brit, i have a small query about the photos submitted during the form filling time. I uploaded my baby’s photos with a cap but his face is clearly seen as well as his two ears. Does this make any difference? I have already got a second letter. What do you suggest?
February 22, 2019 at 17:17
It should not be a problem since it is a baby.
February 22, 2019 at 17:12

February 23, 2019 at 14:43
Had they ever give someone with high case number like AF 70000, an interview date in the past previous years
February 23, 2019 at 14:46
Yes – you can see the historical numbers in the link at the top of each page.
February 23, 2019 at 14:46

February 24, 2019 at 20:30
Hi Brit. Is it possible for someone to ask for reschedule when their appointment is less them five days?
February 24, 2019 at 21:05
You can ask the embassy.
February 25, 2019 at 10:25
HELLO SIMONE THE NUMBER OF YOUR CASE IS BE29 *** I DO NOT MARK EMAIL FROM KCC FOR DOCUMENTS. SHOULD YOU MUST HAVE TO AND WITHOUT EMAIL INCOME?
February 25, 2019 at 14:55
I don’t understand.
February 25, 2019 at 15:10
Please my case number is EU29xxx till now i have not received any email from kcc asking for documents. My question is that should i submit the documents or should i wait for the email to come first?
February 25, 2019 at 21:21
That is your choice. Others have submitted the documents without being asked with no ill effect.
February 25, 2019 at 14:38
Hi Brit, am CN is 2019AF43xxxx. Will I get a chance for an interview? When the visa bulletin shows that visas are available for CURRENT then does it mean any CN can get a 2NL?
February 25, 2019 at 14:57
You have to wait and see.
Yes CURRENT means all case numbers.
February 25, 2019 at 17:58

Wow that’s great
Maybe I will likely get mind soon
Cause my case number is closer to your case number
Thanks for the information
February 26, 2019 at 14:25
@Zulu zulila
This is really a very surprising news from what I have learned in this blog and on DV process so far. I guess this year will bring new changes on how this whole DV thing is processed. A far away from a current CN number receiving a 2NL??? Very surprising indeed ! However can you please tell me if possible which embassy was automatically selected for you interview? Maybe they are doing this to catch up with the AF region processing rate since they more slow to responding to the new documents rule. This is just my unsubstantiated guess! Thanks for this refreshing update.
February 26, 2019 at 14:56
You did not understand correctly. This is NOT the 2NL!!!
February 26, 2019 at 15:05
Thank you BritSimon for setting it straight …It is much clearer in my mind now after reading the post one more time. Yes indeed, it is NOT the 2NL but just a letter to send documents to KCC. I really got confused out there. However it remains a good development and a sign of hope for those with high CN like myself AF46***
February 25, 2019 at 22:42
“Hello Brits, will the embassy reject my laminated original documents? I laminated my original documents for safe keeping, I’m so worried please respond.”
February 26, 2019 at 00:23
I don’t know. I don’t even know which embassy you are talking about.
February 26, 2019 at 07:14
My interview will be in Sierra Leone,
American Embassy
February 26, 2019 at 14:46
Then I still don’t know.
February 26, 2019 at 15:44
hi Simon my CN is AF 21XXX my girlfriend is pregnant and will probably give birth in a month but I do not want to travel with the baby. tell me how to add it
February 26, 2019 at 17:21
Once the child is born you should unlock and add the child to your DS260. If you cannot unlock by then (because you have been scheduled), you should advise the embassy. You only fill out a DS260 for the child if applying for the GC for the child.
February 27, 2019 at 06:12
Hi brit my sponsor changed address i wrote to the kcc about the situation and I asked to her if it is possible to open and change address. He re-open my Ds but he asked to me to send my documents before.
What to do please? Af00032xxx
February 27, 2019 at 13:20
Make changes you need and submit the documents.
February 27, 2019 at 11:24
Hi Brit, it seems that our number will be called in the next bulletin therefore I am planning to order the translation of documents from French to English now. I need your feedback for the following points:
1) This translator ceritifies with the following text:
« Certified translation from French into English.
I, ________, sworn and qualified translator for French, English and German, accredited by the French Court of (city), certify that the target language text is an accurate and complete translation of the attached document, translation registered under no. _____ on behalf of (tranlator Company name) Issued in (another city) on ______ (year). ».Is it OK? I have excluded cities and Company name because of the data protection.
2) The translator asked if the embassy requests a sworn signature, if it is the case he would need the originals…What do you think?
3) We have not received any email to send the documents before by email. Does it depend on the embassy or the citizenship? Have you done any study on why some people only gets this request? Does it make send to send them anyway?
Thanks again.
February 27, 2019 at 13:30
1. Yes
2. No
3. Send anyway.
February 27, 2019 at 13:40
Thanks for your prompt answer. one more: I got quickly the police record by email in PDF, do you think it will be accepted or is it better to get the original by post card? I am worried that they will not accept printed PDF since they might think that they are modifiable..
February 27, 2019 at 14:04
You email the document to KCC and present a printed version at the interview.
February 27, 2019 at 14:13
Thanks Brit, I will do so. Shall I send only Passports, birth certificates (in Spanish for my girls and translated into english for us) and police records translated into English (millitary is not applied to me and have not commit any crimes)?
February 27, 2019 at 14:15
Follow the instructions and apply some common sense.
February 27, 2019 at 22:08
Hi Sir, I’m grateful for all your help. I received my appointment letter on the 26. I’m Scheduled for April 2, 2019. My God who started it will surely finish it in Jesus name.

My CN is above AF35000, when can i expect my turn?
March 5, 2019 at 13:07
Wait and see
March 5, 2019 at 20:27
Sorry I’m just trying to find out if I should expect and interview in April. My number is OC635, and I’ve submitted documents last week after getting married
March 5, 2019 at 21:53
2NLs for April interview have already been sent – so if you don’t already have it, your interview is not in April.
March 7, 2019 at 14:08
hey simon, thanks for your good work. Am a 2019 winner from Africa but got my visa though a cyber agent who hid my confirmation. Now that i have won, he is threathening to destroy my chance if i dont pay him much cash. What do i do to save my chance? Should i report him at the Embassy in Nairobi or which is the best step to take?
Enock- Kenya
March 7, 2019 at 15:28
How you know you win? Maybe he is lying for getting your money ? Do you know which email he used or your confirmation number?
March 7, 2019 at 17:47
You have to decide what to do yourself – it depends whether you have the details you need about your selection, and so on.
March 12, 2019 at 10:45
When can we expect the VB for May 2019 interviews will be released? Thank you.
March 12, 2019 at 12:55
8th to the 15th.
EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH.
March 13, 2019 at 06:59
Hello brit,
am case number 2019AF15*** and it has been scheduled for interview on 15th April. When i try to register for courier services, the message that appears on the screen is that ” the case not ready for the appointment” . Please advice on the way forward.
March 13, 2019 at 13:01
Try different options on the courier website, and if needed, call them for support.
March 14, 2019 at 11:15
Hi Birt,Warm greeting!!
First of all I would like to thank you for all constructive ideas and suggestions you provided for me to be succeeded in the visa interview.
Secondly i need your constructive suggestion on the following issue.
Now i received my visa from US ethiopian embassy before 15 days. During the interview session the officer asked me that if i have a plan to marry before I move to USA. Fearing that he refuse my visa I responded .NO for the question . But currently I plan to marry before I move to USA.
My question is:-
1.may it create a problem on the future when I start a process to move my wife to USA?
2. May it create a problem if we have a child in the mean time?
Thanks in advance for your constrictive response.
March 14, 2019 at 19:34
It’s a shame you weren’t honest. It would be FAR easier to have added your spouse. As it is, if you get married or have a child before you leave for the USA, you should at least inform the embassy.
March 17, 2019 at 19:43
Greetings brit
I am CN AF36***I received an email two days ago saying all my documents has been received and are being futherly processed that was after i completed my additional documents procedure on the 10th of February

March 17, 2019 at 22:56
You have to wait and see.
