This is for June 2019 interviews.
OK, so as discussed previously, we are now seeing fast VB pace. As I explained, the cases that have not submitted their documents cannot be scheduled, and since it seems KCC are sticking to the plan (no documents, no interview), they need to increase the VB fast to yield enough cases that can be scheduled. I would not be surprised to see around half or more of the interviews go to backlog cases, and I think there will continue to be cases not scheduled for interview where they should be. That will be an aspect of busier embassies, that simply don’t have a lot of spare capacity.
I am concerned at the low number of visas issued thus far. This will mean interviews being scarce in later months. It is extremely important to make sure you are submitting your documents. EVERYONE should now submit their documents whether they are asked to do so or not. Once you have submitted, wait a week or two and ask KCC if they are satisfied with the documents. Don’t leave it much later.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. But given the low numbers that may not be necessary. I would expect the 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month. The end of the month really means THE END OF THE MONTH. Please don’t waste my time later this month asking about 2NLs. Please. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

April 15, 2019 at 13:39
No
April 15, 2019 at 08:05
Hi simon
My name is Eva wine dv 2019 case no. Af000037*** I still didn’t fill forms because I don’t have passport so what can I do? Is it possible with out passport to fill. Thanks
April 15, 2019 at 13:45
Yes, select other ID. But you need to obtain your passport before the interview.
April 15, 2019 at 15:27
Sorry, but I remember in DS-260, There’s no other option than the Passport Identification, And I’ve waited 10 days to fill because of that. So he/she must obtain the passport before
April 15, 2019 at 16:03
I don’t have access to a DS260 to see if that has changed, but that option has always existed before. So – the OP should at least check rather than not trying.
April 23, 2019 at 14:53
Why ,try and fill it using your passport
April 15, 2019 at 08:21
Hello Brit,
My CN is EU19xxx. On April 1st, KCC emailed me that they have received all the required documents.
Is there any chance I will get my 2NL by the end of April? If not, is there any reason to freak out? (Even though I already am)
Thank you for all the good work you keep doing 🙂
April 15, 2019 at 13:46
Patience.
April 15, 2019 at 14:34
zazas, did they send an automatic reply, or it was another mail by them that says “Records indicate that you have completed bla bla”
If so, how long did it take them to respond?
April 16, 2019 at 14:21
Jack, no it wasn’t the automatic reply, it was the other email sent by them. They responded in 2 weeks.
April 18, 2019 at 20:36
Hiya,
Please just to find out , how did you send your documents to KCC ? And did they request it before u sent it or u just sent it impromptu?
Please kindly help me
Cheers
Nadia

April 15, 2019 at 16:18
My family and I are selected for the diversity migration lottery of 2019AS13***, and now we are waiting for the second letter to know the date of the interview at the American Embassy in Riyadh according to the visa bulletin schedule for Asia.
My wife is currently pregnant for about five months, and the date of birth is expected to coincide with the interview at the embassy according to the current interviews rate.
So I have some questions about the procedures for the newborn according to the following cases:
– If the date of giving birth before the date of the interview at the embassy and the birth certificate was issued and the passport of the newborn.
– Same as the previous case, but if it is not enough time to issue the birth certificate and the passport of the newborn before the interview in the embassy.
– If the date of birth or the issuance of the birth certificate and passport of the newborn after the date of interview at the embassy.
– Same as the previous case, but in case of delay in the issuance of passport to the newborn after the date of September 30, 2019 (end of the fiscal year 2019).
Waiting for your response.
Best Regards,

April 16, 2019 at 20:43
Hi Ahmed,
I have the same situation as yours. My wife is pregnant and the due date is mid July, and I expect to be current in July (AS11xxx), so if you get the birth certificate and passport before the interview then you should be fine according to Brit’s FAQ list. You would need to call the embassy and let them know you are bringing the baby so they prepare the form.
I am like you not sure about the other cases you mentioned, so I guess the best option would be to inform the embassy ahead of time in all cases, and I would assume they would be understandable since these things can be out of control.
I have a question for you: did you receive an email stating that the documents you have submitted are complete and you successfully submitted all necessary documents? I have submitted my documents about 2 weeks ago (after they requested it) and haven’t received a “documents successfully submitted” email other than the auto reply which says they are processing it. I even sent them an email asking if they were satisfied with the documents but their reply was very standard and didn’t give an answer other than “the documents have been received and are being processed, please allow time bla bla bla”.
April 19, 2019 at 04:52
Hi Tarek,
Same condition here. AS13*** and haven’t received “documents are complete” email. Sent an email asking if they are satisfied with submitted documents, but they replied “please allow time because they are processing according to serial number” kind of email.
I think that’s normal. We’ll just need to wait till they reply.
April 23, 2019 at 15:57
Hi Elle,
Thank you for your reply.
I received the “Documents Received” email on 18 April.
I hope this helps.

Hi Brit?
I submitted my immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application (DS-260) on 2nd June 2018,
the form has EXPIRATION DATE: 04/30/2019 with my CN not yet current. Should this expiration date worry me? i have not received a mail requesting me to submit documents. my CN is AF47***

No problem.
April 15, 2019 at 20:50
Hello!
Thank you for the amazing information you provide.
My family member has a case number case no. 2019AF39*** and I’m their contact in the USA helping to keep an eye on information, VB, procedures etc.
I know their number is not current yet, but in an effort to ensure we don’t miss a deadline, I called KCC a while ago to ask when they can expect a request for the documents (the document procedure change email mentioned in one of your earlier posts). The answer from KCC was that they (my relatives) will not receive an email until their case is current.
Based on your comment in this article (“EVERYONE should now submit their documents whether they are asked to do so or not.” ), I’m worried that we are still missing and email or some instructions.
How can we submit documents to KCC if they did not request it? Their DS260 status still just says “At NVC” which I understand from reading your blog really does not mean much in case of DV processing.
Any advice in this case?
April 16, 2019 at 03:43
The KCC answer was nonsense.
They are “everyone”.
https://britsimonsays.com/new-document-submission-procedure-update/
April 18, 2019 at 13:21
I decided to give KCC a call again and ask nicely if they can re-send the instructions on how to submit the documents. The very helpful agent looked up the case number and confirmed that the D260 was received, but it’s still processing. He confirmed that they will not send the email with instructions on how to submit documents until D260 has been processed. Based on the processing speed, he suggested another 3 – 4 weeks before instructions will be sent. If we still don’t get instructions, he said we can phone back and follow up. (As reference the D260 was submitted already in November last year, so seems they take time to process). So I think my take-away from this is that we need to be a bit more patient and also that the KCC seems to be quite helpful if contacted.
April 18, 2019 at 13:49
Well, they may appear helpful, but saying your DS260 is still processing was untrue.
April 20, 2019 at 09:15
Hello sussane? How do you check ds260 status? Thanks
April 16, 2019 at 03:39
Hi simon thanks for all your help and won the lottery with my family and the visa already issued and we get back our passport and we ve like 6 months to go, my question is can travel to china before i go to US for business purposes? Thank you again

Case Number: 2019AF00033***
Hello Simon,
After submitting my documents this is what I got as a reply.
Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.
Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2019 program will begin in October 2018 and conclude on September 30, 2019. Please refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
April 16, 2019 at 04:41
Hi Simon,
Should the permanent address I used in the DS 260 form be the same address of the person who fills in the Affidavit of Support I-134 Form? If I need to change the permanent address after receiving the 2nd letter, what should I do?
Thanks
April 16, 2019 at 16:54
No – they can be different addresses.
April 16, 2019 at 05:04
Hi Mr Brit. My number is Af29*******,and am current. I submitted my documents on 10th March, and received the reply on 14th March that I have submitted all the required documents and complete Ds260.Am now waiting for my 2NL. Do you think it’s possible for me to be interviewed in June?did I submitt my documents late? Thanks for everything.
April 16, 2019 at 16:54
It’s possible. Wait and see…
April 16, 2019 at 11:35
Hello Simon, first thanks a lot for putting an effort and giving people a good source of information.
Is having a proof that you’re gonna be able to maintain yourself always mandatory on every interview? I heard it has to be either a sponsor/host/or saving on bank account. It makes my situation very complicated, as I’m a student and want to go to US to work as an animator in companys such Disney etc. I wont be using social benefits and green card probably will help me get a job as I won’t need a working visa etc etc. I don’t have any savings nor sponsor. Am I lost in that case? Is there any way I could prove my interviewer I’m willing to maintain myself and am sure I’ll do this? Please I will appreciate your answer.

Hi BritSimon
CN 43xxx
Documents Required for All Applicants:
• Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
• Birth certificate
• Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
• If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record
My question are: 1) am married should I send my married certificate
2) I also have my high school West African Examinations Council certificate should I send it too..
I ask this question because I did not see any off the question I ask in the list of the Documents Required for All Applicants
April 17, 2019 at 02:00
Send what they ask for. That’s all.
April 16, 2019 at 15:40
Hi Brit,
I would like to kindly ask you whether there is a difference in the processing times for the consular cases and adjustment of status cases. Do you think that backlogs would affect these two routes of application differently?
Thank you for your assistance,
Mehmet
April 17, 2019 at 02:02
Backlog of the new document procedure does not affect AOS cases at all, but AOS cases are still time sensitive.
April 16, 2019 at 16:08
hi
i contacted the kcc about the question if i can send the the documents without receiving the e mail and that’s the answer
cn 28***
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.
should i wait till i receive the e mail?
April 17, 2019 at 02:03
If you want to. That is not my advice.
April 16, 2019 at 16:16
Hi Brit.I called KCC they said the reason why they didn’t reply me is because they didn’t see the document I sent in November and that I should send them again.
My question is
They asked that all documents should be sent in PDF or JPEG format but I mistakenly sent the document in JPG format.
(1) have I done the wrong thing that will affect my 2NL?
(2) JPEG and JPG are they the same?
April 16, 2019 at 18:41
Hi
Send them in pdf..nd make sure they r scanned and not taken form a fone…
April 17, 2019 at 02:04

2. No
April 16, 2019 at 21:14
Hi Brit,
I am EU27xxx and i have submitted my DS260 on July 2018. On April 2, I have send my supporting documents without getting an e-mail from kcc. Today I e-mailed them about my situation and they basically told me to wait because they process the cases in ascending manner. ( I think it is a standard answer). But I noticed that some people with case numbers which are not current got confirmation mails for their documents. Is my situation normal or should I give them a call?
April 17, 2019 at 02:22
You already contacted them. Just wait.
April 20, 2019 at 07:27
Hi BritSimon.
I have same problem as Summer. My case is EU274**.
KCC told me: “Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing.” So after 2 weeks I want to send my documents without their request. What do you recommend me do?
April 20, 2019 at 14:37
You know the choices. Choose.
April 20, 2019 at 16:34
Thanks Brit. After 2 weeks I’ll send the documents and share information.
April 20, 2019 at 16:39
Yeap. No documents, no interview.
May 2, 2019 at 17:20
Hi Brit. I translated all the necessary documents and when I decided to send them, I received an email from Kcc asking for electronic copies of the documents. I send them in 29 april CN-EU274** Automatic reply came in few seconds “The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email and is currently processing your documents. ” I’ll wait couple of days and than will ask about documents. Thank you so much for your articles. without them I would have missed the whole DV-2019.

Hi Brit,
My case number is in 8000’s and so I make the cut-off for interview in June. I am Iranian and my interview location is In Montreal, Canada. I have also sent all the documents to Kentucky and received the conformation email as well. I have 2 questions:
1. Do you think the travel ban could prevent me of getting an interview appointment?
2. In case I get the interview, do you think there is any chance I could the Visa if I go to the interview?
Many thanks in advance!
April 17, 2019 at 22:48
1. No
2. If you are a Canadian permanent resident AND applying in Canada, you may be able to apply for a waiver. However, those waivers are extremely rare and can typically take 6 months to get approved. Then as an Iranian you would probably need additional background checks with can last 5 or 6 months. Your case cannot continue past September 30th, so in my opinion, attending the interview would be a waste of money/time. You are welcome to try – but your chances are tiny.
April 19, 2019 at 00:48
Many thanks for your response. Yes, I am Canadian permanent resident AND applying in Canada. Could you please tell me what is a waiver and whether I should apply for the waiver before the interview or I can apply for it in the interview? Thanks again!
April 19, 2019 at 01:46
The CO decides whether to apply for a waiver or not at the interview.

1. If the medical arrives at the embassy well before the end of the month, it could be this month – otherwise it will take longer, potentially a lot longer.
2. Get the medical to the embassy asap.

HI Mr Britt, am current and God willing my interview in June .Now I talk to my sponsor about the requirements, the forms i-130 ,1040 ,w2 ,just to show that she can sponsor me.She pulling out as my sponsor, should I look for another sponsor, if so, is it possible to call the consular about changing the sponsor ?Please advise me. Thank you.
April 18, 2019 at 13:27
On your DS260 you give a USA address for the GC to be sent to later. That does not have to be the same as the person who provides an I-134. So – change to another sponsor, and if needed, change the address at interview.
April 18, 2019 at 15:01

Hi Brit,
Just received my 2NL for EU22xxx for June 🙂 I just thought this might be important information others, too, submitted ds260 last June, sent the documents 26th March on return of their rewuest to send it, KCC confirmed received documents on 28th March and appointment just arrived.
April 19, 2019 at 10:39
Brit just an advise to stay calm:) EU236**
05.03 – I asked for to Unlock my DS and KCC did it in the same day
06.03 – KCC Required Further DV Documents – “VERY strange as long as I just asked for unlocking”
12.03 – Submited my new DS
27.03 – Send all the docs
28.03 – Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260.
18.04 – No 2nl
Do you think Unlocking will postpone the Interview!? or to wait the 2nd batch and after to write KCC if no 2nl again?
April 19, 2019 at 12:46
Rena, just patience…
Had almost the same situation, only difference my case number is EU186**:
25.03 – Request to unlock
27.03 – Submitted new DS
28.03 – Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260.
18.04 – 2NL
You can call KCC to ask. I called them on 16.04 and answer was – “Your case is been scheduled for june”
