The VB was late again, so this seems to be a new pattern, and again, the official published date shown of this VB is the Ninth. So this exact pattern has been the case for four months running – late VB, normal official release date.
Region | All DV Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed Separately | |
---|---|---|
AFRICA | 25,000 | Except: Egypt 16,000 |
ASIA | 12,000 | Except: Iran 6,500 Nepal 7,575 |
EUROPE | 14,000 | |
NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS) | 8 | |
OCEANIA | 1,350 | |
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN | 1,150 |
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. I would expect the 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month. The end of the month really means THE END OF THE MONTH. Please don’t waste my time later this month asking about 2NLs. Please. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hi Brit, is the adjustment of status for Liberian on DED going to impact the chances of selectees from Liberia? Besides, the embassy here in Monrovia earlier announced the suspension of counselor activities. What do you know or think about this?
December 28, 2019 at 8:34 pm
I I have no idea what you mean by DED. The US embassy in Liberia is still processing Immigrant visa applications.
January 16, 2020 at 3:33 pm
DED is the Deferred Enforced Departure.

Ok I m a DV lottery 2020 winer. My case number is 2020AF00037056 I was told by KCC to contact USCIS about the adjustment of my status. I contacted them and they said, my information was not in their system yet. This might be due to the fact that my case number is not current yet. At the same time I have to fill and send the I-485 form and on the form there is spot were it’s asking for the USCIS account number. So my question is this. Can I fill the I-485 form without the USCIS account number or I have to wait for my case number to be current and get a USCIS account number.Thank you and have a nice day.

I suggest you read the link below. It is the best source of info for DV related AOS. Carefully go through the spreadsheet linked from the first post on the thread. That will answer all your questions.

Hi Brit, my friend applied for dv2020 twice by himself and by agent, he got selected in the one done by agent, will that affect his visa aproval?
January 1, 2020 at 6:31 pm
Hopefully yes! He cheated, so disqualification should be the reward.

January 19, 2020 at 9:57 pm
Hi Brit, our family won this lottery in 2019, thank you, your website was a wonderful resource getting us through the process. I have a friend who as also won the lottery. Case number AF24XXX. I do not understand why they have not received their 2NL. I went into the site myself for them and the 1NL is still there. As this was posted mid December and their interview should be in February I would have thought their 2NL would have been available with the interview date by now? Has anyone else had delays getting this? Was there any change in process between 2019 and now where the 2NL are available elsewhere?
Thank you!
January 19, 2020 at 11:04 pm
There has been a change. They have to submit their documents, and those documents must be processed. Once they have been (and the case is current) then they are ready for scheduling.
December 16, 2020 at 7:14 am
