2NLs are starting to be sent for August interviews. Again, as has been the pattern for the last few months, these are earlier than normal especially given the 15th as a VB release date, I expect we will see similar unusual process this month, so the 2NLs might be spread out over a few days, or even the next couple of weeks. So – look out for the email – and check the ESC site.
Last month, some people got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. If your 2NL is delayed, it has nothing to do with President Trump and doesn’t mean aliens have invaded. Just relax and be patient. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT these interviews are for AUGUST, so there is plenty of time.
The other thing that happened last month was that some people did not get scheduled as they thought. This is especially true in a number of AF region embassies (Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Morocco and Liberia are just a few of the embassies experiencing delays). Hopefully the people waiting from June and July, will now get August interviews – but there are a LOT of people waiting, so I expect some problems.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
*** please for our willing scrapers – let’s get scraping (as we can then identify the cases that have been scheduled, and that tells us how many interviews are being scheduled per embassy/region ***

Hi.
I am from Afghanistan. As I received some Emails regarding my visa interview appointment, I have completed what I had to do, like medical tests and… but in the day of my Interview a person from Embassy told us there is no more visa left. He meant in a case of interview we could be charged but with 100% we could receive no visa. Also he said: administration processes take 4 to 6 Months and all people who their interviews are scheduled for August have no chance for issuing visa……
I was just wondering what does it mean? when it was the case why did i receive an interview appointment? ….
I don’t know if it is true and what should I do? Shall I ask the embassy reschedule my interview and go ahead or should I trust that there is no visa…
Please let me know what I can do in such a situation?
Thanks
August 17, 2018 at 15:21
What was said is more or less accurate. Out of about 100 people from Afghanistan, only a couple of visas have been issued, everyone else is on AP lasting many months.
August 4, 2018 at 21:45
Hi Britsimon, let God blessed you for your good job. Please help me understand, explains this. Cases numbers like AF5500 is on ready still, now case last update June 26, 2018. while AF5000 is on issued July 3, 2018. Case AF8000 is at NVC still, while AF8500 is on issued already. Cases Af 6000, 6250,6500 is at NVC now. Cases AF22250 at NVC, 22200 is on issued. AF22700, 22800 is still at NVC now, while AF22900 is now ready. Cases AF21150, 21200 at still at NVC while 21000 is on issued already. Britsimon, if I continued from 20000 upwords to 30000 there are many still between at NVC even from AF5000 upward, while we are now in August. How can this be all done for this fiscal year 2018.
August 5, 2018 at 05:31
That is perfectly normal. A selectee doesn’t have to process their case. No one said all the cases had to get visas.
August 5, 2018 at 07:59
The VB bulletin july said from 39500 below are all eligible for interview, but even the 2nl have not show as we proceed August now not yet visas, was that a mistake again? Which post can I read say again from 39500 below are all not eligible to get interview? Kcc and NVC have done extremely different to dv 2018 winners which have not happen since. Why should they not gjve every Caseses in a random, then to release the VB from 39500 below are eligible to get interview, as we enter August ? and you there say visas, while the 2nl have not show from Af 5000 within to 34000 between. Geat thanks to you Brit.
August 5, 2018 at 14:33
You are not paying attention to what I said. Take case number 2018AF39116 – just as an example. It is under the 39500, but at NVC.
But that doesn’t mean KCC have decided that case is not eligible for an interview. It might simply mean the person with that case number doesn’t want to proceed.
August 5, 2018 at 18:56
Doesn’t not want to proceed, is it that the person have never sent their ds260 to kcc or soon. 2. the person supposed to call kcc to tell them about their case deley. 3, just follow the instructions that say at NVC. 4. if you don,t submitted your ds260 at all, can one case number appear on at NVC? if all this is not, what doesn’t want to proceed mean? And From AF6000, 6250, 6500, 8000 cases which is very much low upward that is still at NVC in this month of August, will all of those caseses that submitted their ds260 from 2017/ 2018 from AF6000 up to the cutoff range 39500 which are still at NVC in this month of August, will all get 2nl for August or September? Great thanks to you.
August 5, 2018 at 19:08
I can’t tell what you are asking – but anyway – I think all is clear now.
July 20, 2018 at 16:45
Okay
Thanks
July 20, 2018 at 16:05
Hi Brit, pls I have been selected for interview on 13th September.

July 20, 2018 at 16:24
I don’t think that is a concern.
July 16, 2018 at 12:46
Dear Simon,
I am DV2018 Winner . I have got 2 NL with interview date&time already(I choose Manila as interview location because I’m working here.) when I checked in ESC website. But the PROBLEM is I am Thailand citizen who’s working in Manila ,Philippines.
We all know that FIlipino is not eligible for DV . So will US embassy in Manila push forward my interview ?
Will this effect my interview with US embassy ?
Thank you very much and Regards,
Pat
July 16, 2018 at 15:08
That is not a problem.
July 16, 2018 at 15:14
Thank you very much Simon . I really appreciate for your time . Wish you the best 🙂

Hey BriSimon,
I have my interview in August,.
I made a mistake in the DS-260 when filling it by saying NO to “Were you issued an Alien Registration Number by the Department of Homeland Security?”. It should read as YES. what should I do? Please advise.
Ronaldo
July 15, 2018 at 05:39
You can’t unlock your form – so you simply explain when you go to the interview.
July 15, 2018 at 10:11
Hi britson,
Should I write to the interview consulate and inform them before the interview about the mistake I made? Will I informing them at the interview have a negative impact on my case?

Ronaldo
July 15, 2018 at 17:07
It’s your case, your choice. I cannot say for certain.
July 15, 2018 at 20:22
Hi BritSimon,
Why I thought I should write to the interview consulate before was to inform them about the error early rather than them finding it out and questioning me at the interview. I do understand you can provide only provide guidance.
If you were in my situation what would you have done. Send a mail and inform them now it self or inform the CO at the interview?
Thanking you.
Best regards
Ronaldo

Really – you decide.
July 11, 2018 at 15:57
Dear Mr.Brtisimon,
I received my 2nl and learned that my interview is scheduled on the 7th of August.
Is there anything I should do to confirm this interview date or should I just appear for the interview with the necessary documents?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Brit,
Today I wrote to the interview embassy to understand further information on documentation to bring for the interview. But they responded saying they still have not received my file from KCC. its been almost 2 weeks since I received my 2NL and the 2NL stated the interview date and time.
Am I to worry about this?
How long should I wait before checking back with them?
Regards
Suresh.

Contact KCC
July 11, 2018 at 19:49
Hi Brit,
I contacted KCC and what they said was they have already forwarded my fil to the interview consulate and probably they may have not yet downloaded my application. KCC said to go on the interview date mentioned on the 2NL.

July 8, 2018 at 23:25
Hi Brit,
1. My interview is set for Sydney Australia, while I am originally from Sri Lanka. How can I find whether filling of I-134 is compulsory for the interview?
(In the “Prepare Supporting Documents” in the website – https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-if-you-are-selected/diversity-visa-prepare-supporting-documents.html it does not talk about filling an I-134. Therefore I am confused)
2. If I am unable to get the I-134 from the person (I mentioned the details of this person in DS-260 as the intended staying address) I intend to stay with during first few weeks can I show my bank balance for self funding?
3. If so how much funds should I show in my bank account given I being a bachelor?
Appreciate your valuable feedback as always.
Regards
Suresh

Sydney doesn’t “generally” ask for the I-134 – but they have.

Thank you Brit. Will prepare accordingly.

Hi BritSimon!
I’m not sure regarding my number EU296xx in DV-2018, is it likely to proceed with interview?
July 7, 2018 at 16:11
No – but in a few days we will know for sure.
July 8, 2018 at 09:37
Does KCC will further proceed with DV-2018 after 15th of July? In some sources there are info that KCC will make arragements for current DV-2018 until the end of September. Is it correct?
July 8, 2018 at 14:20
I think you are confusing two things. Scheduling of interviews (sending 2NLs) will probably continue until the end of July. Actual interviews will continue until the end of September.
July 7, 2018 at 00:03
Hello Brit,
I have a question regarding the 2NL. I have not yet completed the DS260. But I will. I am planning to do AOS , thus paid the DOS fee of $330 month a go.
Today I had received an email from KCC saying that, “Thank you for informing us that you plan to apply for adjustment of status with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)”
is this my 2NL? or Can I include this letter as my 2NL from KCC together with DS260 confirmation page?
Thanks!
July 7, 2018 at 15:30
Yes. But please follow the AOS thread for AOS questions.
July 7, 2018 at 15:34
Thank you, much appreciated!
July 6, 2018 at 16:56
Hi Simon.
I will be attending my interview in a few weeks time with my daughter and my husband will not be accompanying us. What documents do I need to bring with from my husband to allow my daughter to accompany me? I have a document from him giving consent and witnessed by a commissioner of oaths, along with a certified copy of his passport. Will this be sufficient for the CO? Thank you and Best Regards
July 7, 2018 at 15:01
It might be enough. Court orders showing custody would be the ideal.
July 6, 2018 at 16:48
Dear britsimon
Hope you are doing great
I called kcc today concerning my 2nl and they said it has been fully processed and waiting to be scheduled but my case status still shows at NVC, wish to know what these means. CN AF35xxx
July 5, 2018 at 19:05
Hi Simon,
I appreciate your efforts through out my journey. Here is the final help that I need from your side according to your experience.
1-While I prepare the required supporting documents, I noted that my passport will be expire after the embassy interview by 5 months later, Shall I renew my passport accordingly notifying them during my interview by bringing both old and new passport? and change Aramex paper as well. Or keep the current passport and renew it later from USA?
2- My friend address which I mentioned in DS-260 has been changed and there is no time to change and I have received some recommendations to change it on arrival airport instead to change it in embassy in order to avoid administrative procedures delay to my visa processing?
3- Finally is there a problem during interview if i mentioned when I asked ” to whom you will go in USA?” and answered “a friend” because I just only know this friend address in USA to receive a green card on it.
My all supporting documents has been completed except my current passport and my interview during the first week of August.
Thanks in advance and looking for your prompt response.
July 5, 2018 at 19:23
1. Renew.
2. Embassy is better.
3. No problem.

July 4, 2018 at 10:34
Hi Brit,
I have the interview in August. I have been reading about the I-134. Is this a must to fill form by the friend or a relative you have in the USA? I have included my relatives address in the form as the address in USA. I am a single and want to do this alone without depending on anyone. Is that a risk? Please advise.
Regards
Suresh.
July 4, 2018 at 13:53
It varies by embassy.
July 4, 2018 at 18:07
Hi Brit, my interview is in Sydney, Australia. I have emailed you a detailed description of the situation. Appreciate if you could have a look and provide some guidance.

I read it. If your relative meets the I-134 requirements that is all you need.

Oh dear !
So it’s probably to flip from “current” to “uncurrent” !
This is the one rollercoaster enthusiasts were dreaming about LOL. Which makes this whole operation amusing and interesting.
July 4, 2018 at 13:53
I would not say that is likely or probable.
July 3, 2018 at 16:48
Hello Britsemon.
I wanna thank u For ur great job, big respect.
I have been reading Your posts since Mai 2017, i’m a dv LOTTERY 2018 winner case number 39000.
I’ve somehow a special question For u.
Looking to the last posts where You mentionned how many cases were sheduled For July and August’s interviews.
July 1181 Cases
August 1079 Cases
And almost 6100 left For September’s interviews.
1- Do You think it’s possible to schedule all the cases For one month?
2- according to Your previous knowledge, what was the highest number of cases were scheduled in one month ? Maximum ? Just an estimation.
3- is it possible For the visa bulletins to change from Current to specific number ?? Like 45000 47000 ….
4- in case not possible For all the cases to be scheduled, what are the creteras that the KCC will follow?
-Date of submission of the ds 260?
-Cases by order ?
-Randomly?
Cause it’s unfair to schedule the case 52### and not 35###.
Thank You so much For Your great job.
Respect.
July 3, 2018 at 17:09
1. No
2. The August number has been updated and I have an additional update here: https://britsimonsays.com/scheduling-concerns-in-af-region-for-dv2018/
I won’t give an estimation of what they can do in one month. Wait and see.
3. Yes
4. I don’t know. There are bound to be some unfairness in the process – that is reality, and was made worse when they went current, BUT going current gave the best chance to the most people possible.
July 3, 2018 at 10:28
Hi, BritSimon. I have a question: In the SA region it appears 400 in “ready”, do these ready 400 also include the cases in the next bulletin (September) or only cases up to 1585 (August)?
July 3, 2018 at 10:29
*(July and August)
July 3, 2018 at 14:34
Ready means scheduled.
July 3, 2018 at 09:22
GOOD MORNING MR BRIT

Please considering the statistics above , i wish to ask the following questions;
1) is it possible to have the remaining visa quotas per region?
2) does Africa with the greater number of selectees have the same available visa quota with Europe?
3)we can notice that African is current but has issued (12487 visas) with is lesser than Europe that is still at 23xxx but has already issued 15176 visas. any explanation please?
July 3, 2018 at 14:39
1. Your question is unclear.
2. AF has a higher quota than EU
3. I have written MANY times about this. Please read sp,e of the past articles, the FAQ and so on.
July 2, 2018 at 23:48
when i sent ds260 i send it for me and for my family but now my family dose not want to go to interview .can i go alone to the interview or i must open ds260 ?
July 3, 2018 at 00:36
You can go alone.
July 3, 2018 at 09:53
If one chose to go alone, then derivatives will not be granted visas obviously then will be removed from the rest of the process. Is this correct Simon?
July 3, 2018 at 14:37
Yes
July 2, 2018 at 23:38
Dear Brit
With the latest scraped numbers SA has
SA 1001 issued 87 AP and 400 ready
What would be your guess for the next bulletin, just guessing!

Can we calculate the number of people who did not receive the message from Algeria?
July 1, 2018 at 23:18
No
July 2, 2018 at 06:55
In the facebook group I’m keeping track of anyone saying he did’t receive it. They are 37 so far. Cases starting from 35k up to 51k.
Not sure if this could represent anything meaningful though.
July 1, 2018 at 17:29
Hello sir
I’ve noticed that my interview date is on a national holiday, and the consulate’s website shows that they don’t work pon that day.
I have contacted them via email and waiting for a reply
1. At the best of your knowledge, Does this situation happen often?
2. Do they move the date or what is the proceedure in this case?
Thanks

Dear Mr.Simon,
I a 2018 lottery winner from Afganistan. My interview was scheduled by KCC in August. I asked embassy to confirm and they confirmed the date by a reply to my e-mail. But in information part there is such this instruction:
Complete Form DS-260, the online application form, and bring a copy of the confirmation page to your interview. Instruction for the application are as follows:
Go to website: https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/
Select: DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application
Select: Principal applicant
Enter NVC Case number (the one that starts with KBL…)
Invoice number: Enter your NVC Invoice I. D. number. If you do not know your NVC Invoice I. D. number please contact [email protected].
Print out a copy of the confirmation page and bring it to the interview.
Now the problem is that I dont have a case number which starts with KBL. Where can I find that? Please help me with this.
July 1, 2018 at 14:18
Enter your DV case number.

I did not ask the embassy to confirm the interview date which is also in August.
Is it important and required to ask embasy for confirmation or no?
Please reply, Thanks
