2NLs are starting to be sent for July interviews. Again, as has been the pattern for the last three months, these are earlier than normal, I expect we will see similar unusual process this month, so the 2NLs might be spread out over a few days, or even the next couple of weeks – I don’t know for sure. So – look out for the email – and check the ESC site.
Last month, some people got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. If your 2NL is delayed, it has nothing to do with President Trump and doesn’t mean aliens have invaded. Just relax and be patient. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT these interviews are for JUNE, so there is plenty of time.
The other thing that happened last month was that some people did not get scheduled as they thought. Those people should find they have been assigned to July interviews. In the same way, it is possible that some embassies will not have capacity for the large number of cases to be scheduled this month – so some people will have a difficult wait until the end of the month.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
*** please for our willing scrapers – let’s get scraping (as we can then identify the cases that have been scheduled, and that tells us how many interviews are being scheduled per embassy/region ***
June 5, 2018 at 08:17
Be relax, EU August cut off will be around 32.000 as AF jumped at July. I am not sure about September as it is 100% related with the applications of August… Wait and see 🙂
June 5, 2018 at 11:57
hello Brit
someone called kcc yesterday to ask about his 2nl delay, she was told that the problem is with the NVC, they said it is NVC that processes cases and that KCC know nothing about when the case will complete the processing,
it seemed that she can even miss the august interview why not the september,
this makes people who should be patientely waiting sad; ( i am included)
your thoughts please
June 5, 2018 at 14:03
That is nonsense.
June 5, 2018 at 14:07
thank you for giving us hope.
so we must get 2nls before the FY ends right?
June 5, 2018 at 14:19
I didn’t say that… wait and see.
June 5, 2018 at 14:31
Brit
sorry for many questions but please understand my concern.
I ask because there are cases that submitted earlier their ds and were current for june but didn’t get their 2nl until now.
if the problem were embassy capacity, shouldn’t they get their 2NLs now?
Am seeing this as processing time rather than capacity,
btw why did kcc put the fault on NVC?
And if you are not sure whether this cases will get 2nls by the end of the FY , then it become too frustrating
June 5, 2018 at 16:36
It is not processing time and NVC don’t process DV cases. The delays are at certain embassies – i.e. to do with the embassy not the cases. Those points are certain.
I understand the concern, but I can’t give a neat clear answer about why there are delays. However, systemic delays (capacity in the amount of workload) is the only logical explanation.
June 5, 2018 at 13:38
Konneh from Africa want to know when willbe the interview 2018 DV case number 36 873,l submitted DS 260 form June 27 2017
June 5, 2018 at 14:17
I don’t know. Patience.
June 5, 2018 at 16:18
I called the KCC. My number is AF29XXX coming up in July. They said I seemed to have missed out on the July interview and that my interview is likely to be in August (I live in London). They told me I should be getting my interview notification by the 15th.
June 5, 2018 at 16:49
OK thanks. When did you submit your DS260, and what country are you from?
June 5, 2018 at 22:41
I submitted in July 2017. From Malawi.
June 5, 2018 at 23:49
Hmmm. I’m trying to understand why you would have been delayed.
June 6, 2018 at 00:17
Exactly! This can’t be solely an embassy capacity issue…
June 9, 2018 at 14:02
That’s the proof I was expecting. Definitely it’s a not a capacity issue. You were right Sihem, I guess KCC just messed it up and didn’t process AF cases in time. What I find unfair it’s the fact only Africa was affected and that they ruined the dreams of hundreds of people who were theorically safe.
June 9, 2018 at 14:11
Really – that is nonsense. This is ONE odd case among many other pieces of evidence that point to capacity issues.
June 5, 2018 at 16:20
Hi Brit
* My case is current as per the July bulletin release but haven’t receive my 2NL yet. Last day I sent an email to KCC regarding this situation and they reply me like this :-
” Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing.” So,
1. Is they me my case is in the embassy. If so
2. Can I have chance of getting my 2NL recently
3. Is my 2NL depends on the embassy.
Thank you in Advance.
Sincerely,
June 5, 2018 at 16:47
Which embassy?
June 5, 2018 at 21:28
kenya embassy
June 5, 2018 at 21:54
Hello Brit
I contacted KCC too in June first via phone and they told me “looks like your case is current, the 2nl may take several weeks, you should be getting your 2NL by the 15 the of the month” ..
My CN is 348xx and Embassy is Algeria and I submitted my ds260 on may 19th and re submitted to change passport number (old one expired) on August 15th
So far we see a delay in Morocco, Cameroon, Liberia ,Ivory Coast, and Algeria..
I’m afraid at 15 of June some of us don’t receive 2nl as we suppose to .. because many people under 28300 didn’t receive 2nl yet!!
So we wait and see in June 15th?
June 5, 2018 at 22:18
Yep.
June 5, 2018 at 16:39
I really don’t think it’s capacity issues,…they’ve been scheduling much less interviews than usual for 2 months straight (if the issue was capacity, the number of 2NLS wouldn’t change, just more people having their interview delayed). And some embassies like Casablanca’s are not scheduling interviews despite the fact there are less selectees than other years (and in those years, they never had capacity issues).
June 5, 2018 at 16:47
Again. Capacity means everything the embassy has to do. Previous years did not have the DS5535 or other security procedures or concerns. If you are still unconvinced – suggest something else that fits the pattern of what we are seeing.
June 5, 2018 at 17:09
Correct me if I’m wrong,…AT NVC means the case hasn’t landed in the embassy. DS5535 and AP are post-Interview procedures. The problem I think is at the processing stage. Maybe the additional security measures (KCC’s routine background checks aside) are done right now before scheduling an interview in the embassy,…and more people are affected by them. Something like pre-APing people,…it’s just a theory of mine.
June 5, 2018 at 17:13
It would be interesting if people here who haven’t received their 2NL, …reveal their country of chargeability. If most are from Condor and other “under-suspicion” countries,…it would partially confirm my theory.
June 5, 2018 at 17:44
No, it wouldn’t. However, DS5535 is being used more in some embassies – and that does seem to tie with the delayed embassies. However, a correlation would also not confirm what I am saying.
June 5, 2018 at 17:36
At NVC is just the starting point – the same for all cases.
Processing of the DS260 is done by KCC and has been fast this year. There has been more than enough time to process ALL the DS260s submitted.
DS553% and AP ARE post interview, but they affect the workload of the embassy. So – an embassy can become overwhelmed by this additional work (for cases already interviewed) and not allow additional interview slots.
Until the case is scheduled, the embassy has no idea about the cases. So – additional checks being needed would be overwhelming KCC, not the embassies. If that were the case (the pre-APing theory), then ALL cases would be affected, not just certain embassies. Then, it would also not make sense since KCC have no idea of local information sources and so on which is part of what the embassies normally do (in co-ordination with security checking departments – which is not KCC). So – you would be suggesting KCC do something they are not equipped for, to determine an outcome that they don’t control.
In other words, your theory doesn’t fit the symptoms, or logic based on what we know about the process (which is fairly extensive).
June 5, 2018 at 18:13
Ok, thanks for the clarification,…it sounds fairly logical. Just one question though, the poster being affected by the delay even though its embassy is london’s (large embassy with few DV selectees),…do you think it’s an exception? Since you say “just certain embassies” are affected because of capacity issues? He didn’t state his country of chargeability, …but I’m fairy sure he’s from AF or AS.
June 5, 2018 at 18:33
I asked when he submitted. His message said he was AF29XXX.
June 5, 2018 at 18:42
So London’s Embassy has a capacity problem? I don’t think so.
June 5, 2018 at 18:46
I said I asked when he submitted…..
June 5, 2018 at 18:46
I have same case number Af29xxx and haven’t receive anything yet. I submitted my form on the 28 June 2017.
June 5, 2018 at 18:48
Cameroon embassy?
June 5, 2018 at 18:49
Ok, I see your point. I hope he will respond to remove this “paranois” theory from my head.
June 5, 2018 at 18:55
Yes Cameroon embassy
June 5, 2018 at 23:51
Simon, you say “There has been more than enough time to process ALL the DS260s submitted.”
But the truth of the matter is they haven’t processed all cases. My case number is in the 47K for AF and my form is not processed yet (even though I submitted it late May 2017).
I can’t ask KCC for an explanation to this since my number is not current and it may never become current but I genuinely think they haven’t processed enough DS260 and with the big jump in AF last month were taken short. I think they were tracking the visa bulletin too closely in previous months and weren’t processing enough DS260 in advance.
June 6, 2018 at 00:04
How do you know your form is not processed yet?
June 6, 2018 at 00:29
I called KCC and asked if my form was processed already. They said the visa bulletin was pointing at 38 K so I am a long way to go still and that they process DS260 in case number order.
I asked if they start the processing only when a number gets current, they said they try to do it a little before that but because my number is still far away I shouldn’t expect my form to be processed yet.
June 6, 2018 at 00:38
OK, so you don’t know that your DS260 is not processed yet. As for what they have said, that is inaccurate.
June 6, 2018 at 00:40
Actually, it is more accurate to say that your interpretation of what they said is inaccurate.
June 6, 2018 at 00:55
how so ? If they told me that my form isn’t processed yet, should I not believe them ?
June 6, 2018 at 04:32
No!
June 5, 2018 at 17:44
Sir can you tell us about Algiers embassy capacity
June 5, 2018 at 17:46
No
June 5, 2018 at 17:49
What about Cameroon capicity??
June 5, 2018 at 17:54
Only 2months left that is August and September and everything is slow
June 7, 2018 at 12:59
Hello Paul , I’m from Cameroon but I live and work in Thailand . I went for my interview on the fit and they asked me to provide a military record. But told them that I have not serve in the military before my Ds-260 I click no on that question and on my interview date I said no . Due have a clue on how to get this documents in Cameroon ? They told they can only issues it to those who have serve in the military .any idea help bro I’m really confused.
June 7, 2018 at 13:34
What is your case number??
June 5, 2018 at 18:38
the real question is
every case number current now from africa can have 2nl?
or maybe not
June 5, 2018 at 18:47
That is how it is supposed to work – but some people are finding they are not being scheduled….
June 5, 2018 at 19:15
I’m from West Africa,Liberia I submitted since July 2017 with case number 34k till now I haven’t received my 2nls. Are we gonna received any notification or we are out?
June 5, 2018 at 19:21
There seem to be scheduling delays at Liberia and some other embassies. Be patient for a few more days or contact KCC.
June 5, 2018 at 19:27
Bro good evening pls can u tell us something or anything about Cameroon embassy Capacity or any suggestions about the delays
June 5, 2018 at 19:30
No. There are delays. We don’t know for certain why that is…
June 5, 2018 at 19:31
Hi,
I just realized that when completing my Ds 260 form last year,I wrote “Certificate” in the field of High School section – Degree or Diploma blank. Is that so necessary to request for unlock case? Or I should make changes to something like by writing – High School Diploma?
P.s. I have high school diploma.
June 5, 2018 at 22:04
No need to unlock
June 5, 2018 at 19:37
Thanks bro just to be prayerful, patients then wait and see
June 5, 2018 at 19:37
Hi,
From the excel sheet of July 2nL, no case is shown as Ready in Casablanca (CSB)!
The In-Transit cases do not show the embassy name.
Hope that the statute will change to Ready in few days.
June 5, 2018 at 20:24
Hello Simon;
Is it really necessary or worth to contact KCC about the delay of 2NLs? Why I am saying this? I am saying this because in their letter( the one they replied to my inquiry) there is this statement:
“Interviews for the DV 2018 program will begin in October 2017 and will conclude on September 30, 2018. KCC cannot provide information as to when an interview date may become available for your case”
Thanks
June 5, 2018 at 22:14
No one is forced to call them.
June 5, 2018 at 22:08
I think those who are current in June Will receive the the second letters in middle June to interview in august and those who are current in July will receive sndls in august to interview in September. ami right or wrong! ? Anyone agrees with me!
June 5, 2018 at 22:37
Many people Who’s current in June received the 2nl too interview in July, and whose current in July will receive in June and interview in August with the remainig pripeo who didn’t receive July interview .. I hope so at least .. I hope they don’t miss out any case number thutho ..
June 6, 2018 at 06:23
Thank you lotfi. what about those who don’t have their sndls even though they supposed to interview in June and they are many. anyway I hope all winners to have interview.
Thank you again
June 6, 2018 at 01:03
Hi Brit,
In my birth certificate my name is A B C D
In my passport my name is B A C
In my high school report my name is B A C D
The order has changed and last name is not in the passport. Should I be worried? Thanks
June 6, 2018 at 01:08
Please note I have mentioned all my name’s as other known name’s in the ds260… I have however used my passport name as primary
June 6, 2018 at 04:33
I don’t know. It depends on whether that sort of name confusion is normal and understood in your interviewing country.
June 6, 2018 at 15:03
Hello Brit
I am reviewing my DS and I see that I made a mistake on the date of my high school graduation, since the date of the diploma is 27 July 2003 and I placed July 17, 2003, I asked you or I must unlock my DS and correct the error since my CN this should be called in the next bulletin
my CN is SA144x
Do you think that mistake can affect me in the consular interview?
Please your help
June 6, 2018 at 17:15
It is trivial – no impact.
June 6, 2018 at 17:19
But you recommend me to unblock and correct it or wait for the consular interview and clarify it if necessary
June 6, 2018 at 17:48
Forget about it.
June 6, 2018 at 15:58
Hi brit. what could be some possible consequences as a result of the delay on, for example, the next VB or other things just so we will know? I’m concerned about Liberia, CN#AF201840XXX here.
Thanks.
June 6, 2018 at 17:31
The delays are worrying – but I don’t want to speculate about “possible” consequences – I would rather wait and see.
June 6, 2018 at 17:50
Britsimon doesn’t want to speculate, but I can do it, since I have nothing to lose. There is actually just one month worth of new cases left, possibly the next VB will be the last with some increase and the new cases will be scheduled for Septembre. Your number still has a shot to get current, althugh I don’t know the situation in Liberia’s embassy and if it’s saturated, wait and see if you get an interview or not. this is possibly one of the worst DV along with 2012’s.
June 6, 2018 at 16:43
in 15th of june we will have.
2NLs are starting to be sent for july and august.interviews.
vb for august interviews published.
crazy things always happen isn’t!
June 6, 2018 at 17:27
What are you talking about?
June 6, 2018 at 18:01
Hi Bri thanks a lot for your time and sacrifices.
I hope you’re doing well?
May I know what cause the delay (AF 28300) to sent the 2nl and the interview date ?
It is possible according to your experience this situation (delaying) is the first time or?
I am patient but as human been I am worried ?
I appreciated for all
June 6, 2018 at 20:43
We don’t know for certain what caused the delay.
June 6, 2018 at 19:16
Hi Brit. I just discovered your forum and I have taken a lot of time to scout the content. I am a winner of the 2018 dv .. my case number is 2018AF00029xxx so I am normally current for July. This message is for those who are constantly on the lookout for the second letter. I am in the same situation as you, today I called KCC to ask them informations about my case, they said there is a delay and that my interview will probably be for August. According to them my case is still proceeding, which is odd knowing that I submitted my DS-260 since May 2017. All you have to do is be patient and wait for KCC to send you the notification. I guess Brit can not do much except ask you to call KCC … So calm down, trust, and stop asking the same question every 2 minutes. Good luck to everyone.
June 6, 2018 at 20:44
Thanks. They ALWAYS say your case is still *being* processed. It’s the easy way to not have to answer the next question about why your case is current, but not scheduled.
June 6, 2018 at 20:07
what will you say about next VB for Europe? My keys number 258XX.Have I chance?
June 6, 2018 at 20:45
Wait and see….
June 7, 2018 at 05:19
Hi Mr.Beit
I have a question about the bank statement for AOS, they want the bank statement for three months or one year or what?.
June 7, 2018 at 13:52
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
June 7, 2018 at 17:24
Mr.brit
I asked you about the period of bank statement they want to make a bank statement for this year or for the last 3 months or for the 5 years I spent them here?.
June 7, 2018 at 18:10
You can use your own judgement.
June 7, 2018 at 12:28
Hi Brit,
i have receive 2NL for my interview date. but i don’t know how to pay for my interview as i don’t know my CGI number.
Thanks for your kindly supports!
June 7, 2018 at 14:01
Hi Narith,
What is your case number?
June 7, 2018 at 14:26
2018as88xx
June 7, 2018 at 14:20
You pay in cash at the embassy on the day of the interview.
June 7, 2018 at 14:39
thanks for your info, Brit.
So i will pay interview fee($330) on the interview day.
the document i need for this payment is only Interview schedule(2NL) or confirmation page of DS-260?
thanks.
June 7, 2018 at 14:56
HI Brit,
1 more concern, may you can help me.
after i got 2NL is meant that i don’t need process any online process as i already have interview date so my DS260 also ready at US embassy of my country.
And what i need is just process support documents?
Many thanks for your help and support for all of us.
June 7, 2018 at 15:42
Read the guide on preparing for the interview – FAQ.
June 7, 2018 at 14:39
Dear Simon; brothers and sisters;
I know a lot of people are missing their 2nls whereas they are already current either for june or july.
I called KCC today and they told the that the july interviews have already scheduled i.e there is no way I can be interviewed in july even though I am current for july(my case :2018AF29XXX) and I think this answer from KCC is probably applicable to all of you who are missing your 2nls(Simon will correct me if I am wrong). They advise me to recheck the dv website late in july for august interview. I think sharing this info with you will save your time and money in calling KCC(I am quite sure that you will get almost the same answer as me even though each case is different).
But I have two questions for Simon:
1.Based on your skills and experience in vb process do you think that AF will run out visas before september interview?(Considering the AP cases; the past big jump etc etc) No or Yes answer will not be enough for me.Lol?(I am joking)
2.When KCC determine the cut off i.e the next vb will they take into consideration us?(Us i mean those who were current in june and july but not be able to be interviewed)
Thanks you and good lucky to each and everyone.
God bless you all.
June 7, 2018 at 15:44
1. No
2. This is obviously “unusual”. There is no way for me to know what will happen because there is obviously something odd happening. Wait and see.
June 7, 2018 at 16:38
just yesterday you were sure all this mess was because of capacity issues,…and now you’re talking about “something odd happening”? Is there something that made you change your mind?
June 7, 2018 at 16:59
No. But it’s obviously odd isn’t it!
June 7, 2018 at 17:07
Let me add. I have tried several times to make it clear that “capacity” is not physical space or numbers of desks. It’s anything that restricts the ability of the embassy to schedule interviews. It can be all the COs are on vacation. It can be workload from related activities. We don’t have to know what the issue is to “label” it as capacity. The point is the embassy are not allowing/accepting KCC to schedule interviews. Bottomline is if they aren’t scheduling people at an embassy whilst other embassies are scheduling, it is a capacity issue.
June 7, 2018 at 23:41
I know very well capacity doesn’t mean desks and chairs. What i find worrying, is that most African candidates are affected, not just from 2 or 3 countries. The question now is,…if this is going to affect the progress of current cases and the other big question, if AF candidates who live in europe or elsewhere like in my case, would be affected too if they are lucky and get current.
June 8, 2018 at 00:01
I guess we will see…
June 8, 2018 at 00:02
How I see it, the chances of people in my range to get an interview depend on if things go back to normal and they decide to schedule all the delayed cases for August and at least 1100 new “real and confirmed” cases for september, because it’s obvious august will be dedicated to people from July and June plus backlog cases.
June 7, 2018 at 17:12
Ya Saabe! What happened yesterday ? Did they announce something ? Or just speculations. I think embassies capacity can fulfill the extra load no doubt! ! Did anyone calculate how many real cases we have on the last VB ? I understand that the density has decreased ! ODD Odd ODd ODd.
June 7, 2018 at 23:51
Last VB–>4800 real cases, but I calculated around 1600 confirmed cases,…so some 1100 cases haven’t been scheduled yet from July’s VB.
June 8, 2018 at 07:31
Correction: There are 4622 real cases and after further analysis, Real and confirmed cases should be between 2300 and 2600 depending on Response rate, not 1600 as I said before. Wait and see but things are really complicated right now for people with CN above 38000. Let’s just pray for a miracle.
June 7, 2018 at 16:52
Britsmon is confuse to I guess because it’s not normal this year
June 7, 2018 at 21:52
hello Brit

June 10, 2018 at 13:38
Pls can I get your contact or email address bro , Cameroon to in Abu Dhabi
June 8, 2018 at 14:36
Hello Mr. Brit,
Thank you for your continuous efforts.
My case number is 2018AF5*** and I’ve submitted my DV-260 on the 14th of May 2018.
While filling the DV application form, I had a passport that was valid for less than 6 months. After I fully submitted the DV-260, I got my passport renewed and now I have a new passport different than the one I entered on the application form.
My questions are:
1- Will the fact that I submitted the DV with a passport that had less than 6 months of validity affect in any way my selection or delay my 2NL?
2- Do I have to edit the application form now that I have a new passport number ? Or shall I wait until the interview date and bring both the old and the new passport with me?
3- If I choose the first option, will the process start from the beginning all over again causing a delay of my 2NL?
4- Do you have any idea when will I be sent my 2NL based on older statistics ?
Thank you for your patience.

we are in tenlh end of 3th week to sent the 2nl but no one receive until now from africa.
so i dont think too there is precise date to send it just wait until the end of june.

You keep saying “no one receive until now from Africa” – that isn’t true!
2NLs have gone out to some in the AF region – but there are several embassies that have not allowed any interviews to be scheduled – and we don’t know why. However, if you read some comments from even as late as today you will read a Careroonian who has received his 2NL about 3 weeks ago ***because his interview is in UAE, not Cameroon***.
Similarly, you can use the CEAC data to see some AF embassies that have June and July interviews already scheduled.
So – this is about delays at some embassies – NOT all of Africa. But – we don’t know why this has happened, when it will get resolved or what impact it will have on the remaining VBs.

Dear Brit, please help me with this…. looking at the numbers from the scratch and doing calculations, how should I assume the ready cases, taking into account no shows?, for example 400 ready cases and with a 50% average of no shows the last 5 months I can consider those as 200 cases aprox?
as you know im from SA and case number 165x
thanks a lot

The next VB is within a few days, and then the last one is a few weeks after that.
Wait and see…

June 9, 2018 at 03:22
I haven’t changed my thoughts on Nepal – but anyway – wait and see.

30/05/18 :Based on the information you have provided, your interview location has been changed from adjustment of status to Algiers. The new interview location will not appear on your DS-260, but will be used by KCC for scheduling purposes. When we have scheduled your interview, you will be required to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) to view your appointment notification. At that time, please verify that your appointment is scheduled for the correct post. If for any reason it is not, you may contact KCC again at [email protected]. You will also need to request that KCC unlock your DS-260, so that you can update your application with your new address.

Normally, yes. If you married a DV winner after the DV win, then evidence of the relationship existing before the win is often requested.
