2NLs are starting to be sent for February interviews. That is a nice Christmas gift for some people!
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.
Happy Christmas to those that celebrate it!

Wait and see.
January 18, 2018 at 02:32
Hi Brit,
My wife had a job as a ”secretary / assistant” at a private company from early 2015 to early 2017 PLUS some other jobs before that which we’re not sure about If those jobs qualifie the requirement, and now she DOESN’T have any job, she is at home.
Question is: Do we qualify the job/education requirements?
Ps: She is the main applicant.
January 18, 2018 at 04:26
Those jobs don’t help her qualify. You haven’t mentioned anything about education – so I cannot comment about that.
January 18, 2018 at 04:31
She has a ”Secondary education degree” with highest grades. No University diploma tho.
January 18, 2018 at 06:51
So – you should be able to decide whether that meets the requirement in your country. I can’t.
January 18, 2018 at 23:45
Okay thanks, If her education meets the requirement, she will NOT have to show any work experience as those jobs don’t qualify her as u mentioned.. it should be okay right?
January 18, 2018 at 01:51
Thank you for your support
January 18, 2018 at 00:57
Dear Britsimon, thank you for sharing us the visa bulettin for march. My question is, my case no. Is AF161×× from Ethiopia, when me and my spouse checked our passport by March it Will have a 5 and 4 month validation date respectively. Shall we change our passport and unlock DS-260? Thank you
January 18, 2018 at 01:36
You should renew your passports. You probably won’t be able to change the DS260 – so plan to take old and new passports to the interview.
January 15, 2018 at 17:07
when will sent 2NL of march dv2018? dear simon,
January 8, 2018 at 22:11
Hi Brit,
I am writing for the sake of a friend. She is married and her case number is EU8XXX. She should have been scheduled for an interview for February however she hasn’t filled out her DS260 form that is probably why. She is married and is expecting a child anytime next week. Is it better to fill out the form asap before the birth and complete it or is it better to wait for the birth and add the baby and then end it? I am asking because they are already late with filling out the form and they are worried that any further delay might cause any problem.
Thanks!
January 8, 2018 at 22:42
Waiting another few weeks won’t cause any problems.
January 8, 2018 at 23:07
Alright thanks. Is it normal tho, them being not scheduled for an interview yet? And do you think would they be scheduled for February or later, assuming they fill out the form till the end of next week or so?
January 8, 2018 at 23:24
They won’t be scheduled until they submit the DS260.
January 8, 2018 at 21:50
HI BRIT, SINCE I SUBMIT MY DS 260 FORM TO KCC ON THE 20 OF DECEMBER, MY STATUS HAS NOT CHANGE YET, IS THAT ANY PROBLEM?
January 8, 2018 at 22:06
No
January 4, 2018 at 15:30
hey britsimon does education gap in my +2 affect in my visa or not as i got 2 subject fail but pass in third time in 2015….as now m dv winner 2018 my interview is in feburary….n i dont have work experience certificate…..give me some suggestion
January 4, 2018 at 20:35
I don’t know all the education systems of the world, and don’t even know which country you are referring to. But – some embassies publish their education standards. Check your embassy.
January 5, 2018 at 13:56
I am from Nepal..britsimon and what do you think…education gap may effect in visa or not
January 5, 2018 at 15:23
I don’t know.
January 4, 2018 at 11:39
Can you pls give a full answer of is it normal for visa bulletin to go slow-fast-slow, because as all the other are said this is going slowly for now.TNX, and grretings from Serbia.

January 1, 2018 at 21:36
Hi Brit happy new year!!!! How can someone knows that his/ her case has been processed and just waiting for the interview to be scheduled. Thanks
January 1, 2018 at 21:38
There is no need to check that. Patience is all that is needed.
January 1, 2018 at 20:19
Dear Simon, I am DV 2018 winner, my interview has been schedule for February but my husband as a beneficiary has decided not to immigrate to the US anymore. Please can this affect my visa for being approved?
January 1, 2018 at 21:33
Typically no, although there may be increased concern with how you will make a living.
December 29, 2017 at 17:35
I’m confused, is there any post that explain the logic of unlock-relock the DS-260? We did it in August, but while we have a EU2xxxx we still see delays in the processes. It is also curious that from the stats of Oct/Nov only 11 DV (9 DV1 + 2 DV2) Visa have been issues for Italy. Shall we unlock-relock the DS-260?
December 29, 2017 at 18:05
Your case number is not current – so it is nonsense to say “we still see delays in the processes”. I don’t know why you are curious about the Italy cases. That is pretty much normal.
December 29, 2017 at 18:13
Yes, you are right, is not current, but I was referring to the number of cases managed respect the past years. I was watching at your spreadsheet and we are basically between the 1/2 to 1/4 ratio respect the case numbers they have published in the VB. Now, also checking the number of Visa still available, is there a way to determine the cut-off number per region based on the actual case handling?
(p.s. I was curious about Italy, but is not only italy covered, from the stats page we can determine how the DV distribution in EU is going). Very good site. Worth the donation!
December 29, 2017 at 19:11
Have you read this article?
https://britsimonsays.com/vb-progress-explained-again/
Don’t confuse month to month progress with final cutoffs. One does not predict the other.
December 29, 2017 at 19:19
Hi, yes I did. And I’m reading all your past posts. My point is:
Is clear that there is no linear progression on the case handling, so you can have a fast-slow-fast handling, my point is that, we have 40-45k DV to assign and only 5k assigned since October. I was just wondering if there is any “external’ factor that may slow down the DV handling at the various consulates. Ok, I’ll keep monitoring. May I just ask, based on your experience, why people is unlocking-relocking DS-260 even without apparent reason to do that? Thanks.
December 29, 2017 at 19:54
It is normal for the year to start slow on issuances. Just normal. You are looking for a explanation for a problem that doesn’t exist.
As for people unlocking – that is not without reason. People do that for a reason.
December 29, 2017 at 16:52

Hello Brit, I am so grateful to your incredible help that I can’t utter how.
however, I have some queries about the Selective Service System.
I abviously saw the notice entitled “ATTENTION” and printed it. Although, due to the fact that it seems like the registration in SSS can be made once arrived in the US, I stayed without reaction on this matter.
Recently, I saw on the printed copy that one should acknowledge that he received that notification (warning).
1. How is the acknowledgement done and sent? Since there’s a place on the copy for a witness’s signature: who must he be?
2. does it matter if one ignores this acknowledgement and brings the printed copy to the embassy for proof of receipt of the notice? if yes the following question
3. can the delay of the acknowledgement cause denial for Visa?
December 28, 2017 at 00:47
Once you have arrived in the USA yiou complete the SSS registration. The SSS site has all the info you need.
December 27, 2017 at 04:48

December 28, 2017 at 23:27
Normally the derivatives attend the interview with the principal selectee. So do that if you can. If you cannot do that, then your process will be a lot more complicated.
December 26, 2017 at 13:59
Hello Simon
I have a question, our case number EU158**, would our number be current in February?
December 27, 2017 at 01:52
Wait and see.
December 26, 2017 at 06:46
Hello simon merry Christmas
two questions
1. after the 2nl, to register on usvisa info, is it optional or a requirement
2. If optional what is the advantage of filling it.
Am asking this b/c i want to leave it b/c am afraid that i could make a mistake while filling it
December 27, 2017 at 01:31
1. In some embassies it is required.
2. You get to see your passport again.
Just follow their instructions!
December 25, 2017 at 11:36

December 24, 2017 at 17:13
Hi simon
A friend of mine completed his ds260 long time back, later on he discovered that he had issues with finding a sponsor , so he unlocked his form by the time he finds a different sponsor and left his form open.
Yesterday he got a letter saying that there is an update in his account. Upon checking he found that he was scheduled for an interview early February
My question is
Is there an issue in the system that prevents it from knowing whether it’s open or close ?
How can he rectify this issue ? He ceryinely don’t want to be interviewed in February
Thanks for your continuous help
December 24, 2017 at 17:47
Everyone rushes to get their DS260s in without thinking about when they want to be scheduled. Sheesh.
If you unlock a form before they start processing, it might delay processing until resubmitted, but once a form is processed or started unlocking doesn’t stop scheduling. So now – his interview is set. He can try and change the date by contacting the embassy – but that creates risk and more delay later in the process, so that is not advisable.
December 24, 2017 at 04:45
Before I ask u the question I would like to thank you sir, Mr Brit Simon for the good jobs your doing. Sir
I need to know if the spelling error will make disqualify for example on my educational document and birth certificate my last name is kuli but on my dv form and passport it Say’s kule thank you sir
December 24, 2017 at 06:06
Not usually a problem.
December 23, 2017 at 22:09
Hey Britsimon,
My case number is 2018AF000073XX,
I was about to add my step daughter as one of the beneficiary, as the birth certificate is still taking so long to be issued, yesterday I received the interview letter, I went back in order to add the beneficiary there was no longer a way to add some one.
What Am I supposed to do now as did not get a chance to add my step daughter DS260.
December 24, 2017 at 00:59
Now you must wait a few days and then contact the embassy to add the baby to the case.
However, I am a bit confused. When was the child born? Were you married at the time of the DV entry? How is that your step daughter was not already on the DV entry?
December 24, 2017 at 02:14
The daughter is 7 years old, due to the lack of her birth certificate, I submitted only my DS260 and her mother DS260, now as we have her new birth certificate from the court like 2 days ago, when I went back to the website to add her birth certificate the was no longer that option as the interview date was released already, but still she was listed as beneficiary in my DS260 and her mother DS260
December 24, 2017 at 02:17
But you DID include her in the original entry – correct?
December 24, 2017 at 02:28
At the time of DV entry me and her mother were not maried yet, I got married to her mother on january 2017 before my selection as a 2018 DV selectee.
As my status changed, while submitting my DS260, I had to send my wife’s DS260 as well as the marriage certificate was available, but with my step daughter who is 7 years old, her birth certificate was lost and we had to wait a new one from the court.
When my step daughter birthday certificate became available like 2 days ago, when I went back in the web site to attache her birth certificate, that option of attaching a document for proof of relationship was no longer available, so no way to make my daughter’s DS260.
Now what to do in this case
December 24, 2017 at 06:09
Like I already said, Contact the embassy in a few days.
December 23, 2017 at 17:54
Hi dear britsimon am from Ethiopia if someone now when i fil ds 260 my confirmation number. Emil everything about my cases can he change himself instead of me?
December 23, 2017 at 20:37
Well, if you have been foolish enough to give someone your details – yes that is possible. Keep an eye on your DS260
January 5, 2018 at 07:59
i commit mistake… britsimon this happen when we fill ds260 he is the owner of internet house he assist me so what can i do hereafter ?..and when we fill ds 260 he fill travel document what is that mene is that problem.?lastly visa bulletin can help me my cases number 2018AF18*** maybe interview on march or April …. thanks
January 5, 2018 at 14:35
I don’t really understand your questions. If you need to correct the DS260, request KCC unlock the form – check the FAQ.
As for your number – wait for the next VB to know more.
December 23, 2017 at 14:00
Dear Brit,
Thank you for all your help and sorry to take your time.
My interview will be on 6th of February and I have 2 more questions,
1- Do I need to send my documents to the embassy prior to my interview? I’ve saw some comments online about this requirement but couldn’t find any confirmation on official sites. If I should when in my deadline?
2- If I want to apply for a waiver (Travel Ban) should I just take the documents with me to the interview or should I send a waiver request prior to my interview, if I should when will be my deadline?
Thank you so much again,
December 23, 2017 at 14:13
1. You follow instructions from the embassy. If they ask for documents in advance, you do that, otherwise no.
2. At the interview. Have you researched the waivers and have a justification for a waiver?
December 23, 2017 at 16:13
Thank you Brit, I’m working on my case with the help of a pro bono institution. They think we should request for a waiver and we have a chance. However, I’m not sure about the odds. I’ll write to you when I have any information which can be helpful for other cases.
Best,
December 23, 2017 at 17:20
But on what grounds?
December 23, 2017 at 12:34
Hi Brit, I’m finding it difficult to check the ESC site. I’m ask to enter 16 digits as my confirmation number and I was given 10 digits confirmation number. Advice?
December 23, 2017 at 13:02
Use your CONFIRMATION number from the original entry.
December 23, 2017 at 10:36
According to the visa bulletin, my case number is current for February 2018, however I have not received any notification to know the date of my interview so far, and there is not update on the entrant status check page.
December 23, 2017 at 10:39
my CN number is 2018EU93**
December 23, 2017 at 13:13
OK. When did you submit your DS260?
December 23, 2017 at 13:36
I submitted it on May 27, 2017
I received a confirmation email
December 23, 2017 at 13:41
OK – well perhaps your embassy doesn’t have enough interview slots – you will probably get a March interview.
December 23, 2017 at 13:44
Have there ever been another such case?
thank you
December 23, 2017 at 13:58
Yes.
December 23, 2017 at 13:58
What embassy is it?
December 23, 2017 at 09:48
hi I received my 2NL on 21st Nov. I’m the main applicant. my husband has not yet filled his ds260 is it still possible to fill it and attend interview with me in Feb. he took long to make up his mind.
December 23, 2017 at 13:15
You will have to contact the embassy and ask them.
December 22, 2017 at 21:43
What’s the size in centimeters of the picture we have to take to the interview? I read different sizes and am confused.
December 22, 2017 at 21:52
This is clear in the instructions you should be reading.
•2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size
December 22, 2017 at 21:09
Hi Brit, How does one know that they have been scheduled but missed their email?
December 22, 2017 at 21:21
Check the ESC site.
December 22, 2017 at 20:03

December 22, 2017 at 07:56
Hi Britsimon the Restriction of six country does it affect dv lottery?
December 22, 2017 at 15:30
Yes – I have written numerous posts about that.
December 22, 2017 at 05:29
Dear Si,
Just for your information; you were right. I am current for Feb and got my 2NL yesterday while I resubmitted my DS260 on Oct 31.
Just one last question : I think I read that is normal but I wanna make sure with you; on the 2NL, it is written « derivates : none » while I have a husband. Is that normal?
December 22, 2017 at 06:24
That is normal if you married after entry.
December 22, 2017 at 10:21
is it also normal for children born after the original entry (but are included in the DS260)?
December 22, 2017 at 10:44
Sorry: We unlocked our DS260 to add a newborn child in Nov. that is now missing on the ESC page. Normal?
December 22, 2017 at 15:20
Yes
December 22, 2017 at 05:03
Hello sir,
Can we check 2nd letter through case number ??
December 22, 2017 at 06:24
You check on the ESC page (which uses your confirmation number).
December 22, 2017 at 00:50
Hello Simon
I’ve noticed in all the previous visa bulletins that there Is a limite in 2NL.
Ex
-Visa bulletins For December 10000
2NL limites was 9600 (9700, 9800,9900 and 10000) 2NL recieved in visa bulletins January
-visa bulletins For January 13000
2NL limites was disaster someone 12500 recieved and 12300 not, limite i guess 12600.
All the recieved in visa bulletins February
-visa Bulletins For February 14300.
2NL limites i guess there Is no limites For Now.
I got a facebook groupe and i Found no limites.
Depending on my personal analyse and opinion it’s a Very good sign For comming visa bulletins For march, this means they Make a Very good jump.
Depending on Your knowledge and experience do You agree with what i’m saying or not?
Thank You For great job
December 22, 2017 at 01:01
You reasoning makes no sense. You are seeing evidence of something that doesn’t exist.
December 21, 2017 at 23:33
Hello Britt, I applied as AOS, and I was called in the first (September) Visa Bulletin List, but I haven’t received any interview letter yet, and I know that there are people from the first list as me that have received the letter and are preparing for the interview. I’m concerned about it. Your thoughts ? Thank you
December 22, 2017 at 00:14
AOS is totally different. When did you submit your I-485?
December 22, 2017 at 01:41
Yes, I know it is totally different. I sumbmitted it at the end of August. The last thing I received from USCIS was the employment card, and It arrived the first days of November. Since then, I haven’t received anything else.. I’m waiting for the interview letter.
December 22, 2017 at 16:13
I would like to know your thoughts. Thank you Brit, really appreciate it.
December 22, 2017 at 16:17
AOS is about waiting. Arrange an infopass.
December 21, 2017 at 22:00
Hi. How the 2NL look like? is that named “Diversity Visa Adjustment Letter”?
December 21, 2017 at 22:04
The 2NL for CP cases is different to AOS cases.
CP is described here.

December 21, 2017 at 22:21
I am in AOS
December 21, 2017 at 20:31

Thanks!
December 21, 2017 at 20:42
It is too late to update the DS260 – so – no.
December 21, 2017 at 21:22
Can it cause any problems in the interview?
December 21, 2017 at 21:28
No
