People are receiving their 2NLs for April interviews, it will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260 and their case number. That helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog
Please add your first submission date, and if you unlocked please add that resubmission date and the data you changed. That is helpful for all.
Now – if you do not get your expected interview, please come back here and read updates to this page to see the feedback I will have received.
Based on comments I have received, I suspect we will see some people with DS260s as late as December and even early January in this batch. The backlog is reducing somewhat, so whilst there will always be some backlog, we might be seeing slightly faster DS260 processing times.

Hi i unlock my ds 260 form on 24 feb 2016 and didnt resubmitted yet because i send a request to unlock my child’s application yesterday.my number is
As 91xx so do u think that if i send all by next week will be ok.my number is not current yet.how long it will take to process application?
March 12, 2016 at 18:38
You have a long time before your case is scheduled – so there is no rush to resubmit your DS260. Next week or next month is fine.
March 12, 2016 at 13:55
Hi dear Britsimon, for how long the KCC send the 2NL? do they send 2Nl at one time in a regions?Thank you
March 12, 2016 at 14:54
THey send out all the 2NLs at the same time once a month – it takes them about one or two days.
March 5, 2016 at 06:53
Thanks Mr Brit
what they mean by ” Expires 02/29/2016 on the above of form?
Thanks
March 5, 2016 at 13:59
It is simply about when the design of the form needs to be reviewed. It does not affect your case.
March 5, 2016 at 05:49
Good day Mr Brit
Pleas help me: what is the form(s) I need for the following in my interview?
AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT: The Affidavit of Support (AOS) form is a legal contract required by U.S. law between the Petitioner (sponsor) of an immigrant visa applicant(s) and the U.S. government. The sponsor for the visa applicant(s) must establish he or she has certain means to financially support the visa applicant(s), if necessary. There are several Affidavit of Support forms. Each form applies to different people.
Thanks

Hi Mr Brit, now i saw that i have made a mistake into the lastname of my mother in ds-260 app,in the app says SURNAME AT BIRTH and i have already put the lastname she has after she was married.what i should do ? I have interview in april.
March 3, 2016 at 14:32
KCC will not unlock the form now. Email them anyway to explain the mistake (and with the correct information). That email will be on your file showing that you tried to tell them. Also email the embassy if you can with the same info.

Hi BritSimon
I’m a dv lottery winner,
My CN AF2016 34xxx
Kindly I would like to know
1- when is gonna be my interview and when they are gonna send me my 2NL
2- currently I live and work as an Engineer in UAE, As financial document support can I show them a salary certificate? Would that be enough or I should have saving? If yes, how much that should be? Or do I have to have US- citizen sponsor?
Thanks
March 2, 2016 at 16:49
1. You might get a June interview, possibly July – the 2NL is about 6 weeks before the interview.
2. A salary certificate for a job you are going to leave is almost useless. You should demonstrate savings, OR provide an I-134 from a US resident. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
March 2, 2016 at 08:28
I have my interview in April (Vienna). I have two questions:
1. I just reacently changed my address in Vienna.
2. My aunt in the US sold her house (I wrote this address in DV260 form)
Should I open my DV260 and make corrections, or just inform the US Embassy
March 2, 2016 at 14:36
Just inform the embassy at the interview.
March 1, 2016 at 19:39
I’m asking what other documents do I need for my step son apart from birth certificate.
March 1, 2016 at 20:13
Birth cert, passport and medicals. Then proof of the marriage to his mother.
March 1, 2016 at 21:56
I’m blessed to have you to help me with this vital information and I know you are most blessed because you give to all. Bye for now and God bless you and your family.
March 1, 2016 at 19:36
Thank you sir. I respect your opinion.
Pls one last question. Apart from birth certificate, what other dic do I need for my step son?
March 1, 2016 at 17:18
Hi Mr Brit
Once again I appreciate the tirelessness and patience you deal with all who ask you questions.
This is the 2nd time I present to you my case, I hope not to trouble you.
While filling the ds-260 form, I took the option that my children will join my wife and I on a later date having in mind that we might be called earlier for interview when they will still be in school. By then I have not discovered your site and posts and had little information as I now have through this site.
I wanted their interview to be June or July when they are out of school, so do I leave it as it is or should I unlock? My desire is that all of us benefit through this DV program as you explain in one of your post, so please enlighten me.
I am CNAF27XXX
Thank you Sir.
March 1, 2016 at 17:48
Your wisest move would be to IMMEDIATELY write to KCC to unlock your DS260 and mention that you are trying to delay your interview. You would then resubmit it with all the DS260s for each family member in good time to get a June or July interview. I would suggest July. There is no risk of doing that (visas will still be available) and having the interview all together is the simplest way to get visas for the whole family. If you want to do that, you should do it immediately, because they will shortly include your case in May interviews.
March 1, 2016 at 16:23
Sir do we need to attest our documents for interview or simply bring the original documents at interview??
March 1, 2016 at 17:52
The instructions explain that. Take originals and photocopies. If you don’t take copies you will have to leave the originals with the CO.
March 2, 2016 at 04:16
Don’t they return the originals??
March 2, 2016 at 04:47
No. That is why you provide copies.
March 1, 2016 at 10:22
Hi Brit
If you can help me on this?
I am referring to the above discussions,
I have received from my sponsor these forms:
Form I-134 – Affidavit of Support
Form 1040 – U.S. Individual Income Tax Return
Form W2 – Wage and Tax Statement
Copy of Passport
– 1040 and W2 forms are for 2015.
– Whether it is necessary to 1040 and W2 forms to be even for 2014?
Regards,
Alban
March 1, 2016 at 14:19
One year tax forms should be enough. If you can get more, do so.
March 1, 2016 at 09:31
hello brit am from africa senegal i have one question when i submitted my ds260 i was graduated at university now i have licence my question is if i go to my interview can i bring with this licence
March 1, 2016 at 14:19
Yes of course.
February 27, 2016 at 21:14
My interview will be in Skopje Macedonia.
US Embassy in Skopje has no official information on what is required by them. Anyway I will be equipped with I-134, 1040, W2 and a copy of the sponsor’s passport.
I hope that will be enough!
Thank you Brit for your information.
February 27, 2016 at 18:24
Hi Brit,
I am getting prepared for interview.
My sponsor (uncle) who is a US citizen will send me these documents from USA:
– Aos: I-134,
– Tax forms: 1040 and W2
– Copy off Passport
I am the principal applicant and I have a wife and two children. I want to know from you is it enough to send me one form I-134 or need I-134 for each one?
Tax forms should be the last year (2015 or 2016)?
If you can help me about this?
Regards,
Alban
February 27, 2016 at 20:32
Normally you have one form to cover the whole family. (Tirana has a slightly different rule).
Tax forms will be 2015 and 2014 (1040 for 2015 may not be available).
February 26, 2016 at 19:57

Hi Brit how r u, thanks for the big efforts u did for all of us, may God bless u and ur family,
My husband wins dv lottery with case number AF24###, we expected our interview this May, however I had to travel to US for exam in late April(I will be back before end of April), I had already B1/B2 visa valid till 7/27/2016, my husband told me that this visa B1/B2 will be cancelled once his case number become current on the system and I will not be able to travel, my quesion: is this true or still I can use my B1/B2 visa before our expected interview? Once again, thanks
February 25, 2016 at 11:52
And If this B1/B2 visa still valid and I just traveled to US and come back 1 month before the interview, is this going to add negative impact on the interview or not?
February 25, 2016 at 14:58
No it won’t be cancelled until you are approved. Travelling won’t affect you.
February 25, 2016 at 09:56

February 25, 2016 at 07:03
Hello Simon, an off topic question: Should the host make photocopies of the W2, 1040 & recent payslips to be attached to the principal and derivatives I-134 or just attach the originals to the principal’s I-134?
February 25, 2016 at 07:47
copies are fine. THe I-134 should be an original.
February 25, 2016 at 09:59
Hi Brit, your saying i-134 should be original that is to say sponser cant sign it then scan and send ?? please elaborate
February 25, 2016 at 15:02
The I-134 should be signed and sent by mail. Some COs will accept it scanned, some won’t.
February 25, 2016 at 05:49
Because I can see people asking you about form 1-134,and it’s getting me confused.
February 25, 2016 at 05:37
Dear brit, please I didn’t get any form to fill after my second letter came,I mean to say when it was in NVC,I could see there was a file attached but this time am not seeing anything, what do I have to take with me now?and do I have to get a sponsor or a bank statement?

February 24, 2016 at 07:01
Dear Mr. Simon,
In 2014 I have applied for US lottery program with my new passport details. During this period my friend also applied for lottery for me with my old passport copies . My old passport and renewed passport have a slight change in the names.(For better understanding : Old passport name – Santhosh Kumar Veedu … New passport name – Santhosh Kumar Kalari Veedu ). Now the application with my old passport details got selected and I proceeded with my DS260 application with new passport details and received interview appointment confirmation for this April.
Now my concern is that during interview will it be a problem as there is two preliminary application on my name (slight change in names)
Regards
Santhosh
February 24, 2016 at 07:05
You are right to be concerned. If the embassy or KCC have connected the cases you will be disqualified.
February 24, 2016 at 06:40
Hi
When I check the status for my case number it shows that it is IN TRANSIT. For how many days change in READY since my interviews is scheduled for April.
Thank you.
February 24, 2016 at 06:54
It changes when the embassy update the case. That varies by embassy. But don’t worry about trivialities….
February 24, 2016 at 04:23
Thanks very much Brit. My 2ndls received yesterday. I appritiate you for advising me.Thanks ( X100)
February 23, 2016 at 22:38
Dear Brit, I submitted my DS260 in October 2015 and my case number is 2016AF00033XXX when should I expect my 2NL?
What is 2NL please?
February 23, 2016 at 23:09
Why ask when you should expect it if you don’t even know what it is????
February 23, 2016 at 21:21
Hello Brit….
thanks for your tireless effort by guiding selectees…..
1) i would like to know if the expiring date marked at the top right side of form I-134 for the affidavit support carries a lot weight by playing an alarm role regarding its interval of time of validity?
2) upon its acquisition, after how long is it supposed to be out of date?
3) what are the criterions that sponsor has to meet for sponsoring a selectee who played as a single withtout kids?
4) when is it the propitious time to apply for the affidavit support form from a sponsor when one knows already the date of the interview?
Regards !!!!
February 23, 2016 at 21:56
1. It is about the form, not your case. Ignore it.
2. See 1.
3. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
4. Now.
February 23, 2016 at 19:52
mr simmons
the$330 fee for each person listed for dv embassy interview !!! can it be paid by local currency of the country of interview ? and can it be paid by credit card or not ?????
thank u
February 23, 2016 at 19:55
Yes the fee is per person. Typically it is paid in local currency or US dollars. It is paid in cash – I don’t know of any embassies that accept credit cards.
February 23, 2016 at 18:24
Hej BritSimon, could I ask you a question? Two questions, actually. This may seem weird, but I’ve been wondering, if the documents I need to bring (birth certificate, school certificates, etc) need to be translated into English? Or can I bring originals?
The other question is about savings. I am single, and have a stable job in American company (based in Warsaw), I have saved up and will have around 8000-9000 dollars by the time of interview. I read that I should have around 10 000 dollars, if I’m single. Could I tell them I will save up more before going? I can’t leave before July, anyway, cause that’s when I finish school. Also, can I show them the savings in my home country currency?
And btw, my interview is on 18th of April and I am from Europe 🙂
Thank you!
February 23, 2016 at 19:16
You MUST read the instructions (linked from your 1NL). You obviously haven’t since this question is answered there!
Documents should be translated to English UNLESS they are in the local official language of the embassy where you will interview.
They *might* accept the 9000 – the 10000 is not precise. However, they might ask for an I-134. Read about that here: https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
February 27, 2016 at 20:26
Thank you!
Yes, I have read everything now more carefully than when I did the first time, and the answer was right there! Sorry about that!
As for the other problem, I don’t have anyone who would have enough money to be my sponsor, so I will have to hope my savings – around 9000 dollars -will be enough. I heard that they take all into consideration – meaning I speak English, have higher education (will complete second degree in June) and am experienced in working in corporation. Hopefully, this will be enough, cause I can’t do anything else now.
Thanks again and take care!
