Some people are reporting receiving their 2NLs for December interviews. It will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260. A survey like that helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog.
Please add your first submission date, and if you unlocked please add that resubmission date and the data you changed. That is helpful for all.
Now – if you do not get your expected interview, please come back here and read updates to this page to see the feedback I will have received.
***** Update after feedback ******
MANY thanks to those that have given submission date feedback. I have not thanked everyone personally – but I am thankful for the input, which is for the community benefit.
Based on the feedback below, it looks like the majority of 2NLs were sent to cases which were submitted up to early/mid July. Most (not all) June submissions have been handled now. Not all July submissions have been processed.
As I have explained before, cases do not all get processed at the same speed. So your case might have missed the scheduling deadline whilst someone else got a December interview with a slightly later submission. Don’t worry about this – it is normal and does not mean there is a problem.

Thanks Brit. I few doubts still linger and let me ask these few questions to be clarified.
Now the main criteria for selection to the fellowship and the process are:
• Are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States;
• Are eligible to receive a United States J-1 visa;
• A commitment to return to Africa and apply leadership skills and training to benefit the applicant’s country and/or community after they return home.
Application Timeline:
October 1, 2015: Application opens
November 11, 2015: Application closes
January-February 2016: Semifinalists interviewed by local U.S. Embassies and Consulates
March 2016: Applicants are notified of their status
April-May 2016: Visa processing for finalists
Mid-June 2016: Fellowship starts in the United States
Aren’t the going to do background checks that can reveal that I am an applicant for an immigrant visa? If so will my submitted DS 260 not play against my application. From your chart my spouse (principal applicant) should expect her 2NL between March – May 2016 which is the same time I may get a notification and visa for the fellowship if I am successful. Won’t there be a clash that might be detrimental to the DV process? Thanks again!

sir, my case number is AS39** and submitted ds260 in may 25th but today i find that there is dob mistake in my form…so, i went to ceac site to edit my form but their i can edit my form, just can preview complete form only…sir, how to edit that? plz help me! really worried
October 23, 2015 at 20:30
To edit your form you have to request that KCC unlock it.
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/how-do-i-unlock-my-ds260/
October 23, 2015 at 15:32
My case number is 2016EU***, already current. We (my family) would like to delay our visas as much as possible, without risking running out of visa numbers. When will be the right time to fill DS260? Is unlocking and locking a good idea to create safe delays?
October 23, 2015 at 20:26
EU won’t run out of visas this year. So – you could delay submitting your DS260 until March/April and still be fine.
Unlocking the principal selectees DS260 does seem to be an effective way to delay scheduling of the appointment.
So – you can delay either way….
October 24, 2015 at 12:52
Hi Brit,
Sorry just out of curiosity, can you please elaborate a bit about “EU won’t run out of visas this year”? Does it mean that every EU winner of 2016 will get their visas as long as they are qualified in their interviews? And why is that EU won’t run out of visas this year? I thought there’s only 50,000 visas in global scale and it’s kinda like a first come first serve basis until the 50,000 visas exhausted.
October 24, 2015 at 14:25
They reduced the number of selectees for all regions this year. For EU they reduced the number to a level that means everyone who applies and is approved will get a visa. Each region has their own quota from the 50,000.
October 23, 2015 at 17:07
Hi Brit,
Last week on friday i sent emailto KCC to unlock my ds-260. actually i sent 3 emails at that time. until today i did not receive any email about unlocking my form. And i called KCC to check wether they received my email. They told me that they did not receive any email from me. But when i sent email last friday , i received auto reply that KCC has received my email. what is this problem do yo u think. Today i once again sent email.
October 23, 2015 at 20:17
When you send emails you must include your FULL name, FULL case number (2016EU00012345, not 2016EU12345), and your date of birth should be in Month, day, year order.
October 24, 2015 at 02:52
i did the same as you wrote. But I could not understand. nowadays maybe many people are asking to unlock. because of this , do you think it would be late? one question if though i cant update it, would i receive 2NL to have an interview? and is it possible if i can explain the embassy my mistake and do correction at that time? thanks in advance
October 24, 2015 at 06:08
Try again – and perhaps you could call them.
October 23, 2015 at 17:08
Hi Simon, are all letters out yet? We submitted on the 20th of June, unlocked and re-submitted in August, still no letter, getting very frustrated now. The case number is AS2XXX, so we were expecting an early interview.
October 23, 2015 at 20:15
I think all the letters have gone out. There are others with June submissions that did not get processed in time. Looks like a January interview for you.
October 25, 2015 at 12:11
Hi, thank you for this! Really frustrating because the unlock was just an address change :/ fingers crossed!
October 25, 2015 at 14:53
The unlock was unlikely to have delayed you.
October 23, 2015 at 18:25
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2016EU22XXX and i submitted my DS 260 on the 11th May 2015 but no Interview date so far. Does that make sense?
I understand the case number dictate approximately the date of the interview so why is the ds260 also important?
Thanks and amazing work on the website!
Cheers
I.
October 23, 2015 at 18:57
The case number is the main factor for interview date, but since the ds260 processing takes a few months, the submission date is a factor, mainly for low case numbers. For you, only the case number will be important and you are not current yet so it makes sense that you don’t have a date for interview yet.
October 23, 2015 at 21:51
my CN: 12xx
sent 11/8
never unlock
and i got nothing
October 23, 2015 at 22:49
Yeah, they are not scheduling August cases yet. Maybe January interviews, more likely February.
October 24, 2015 at 04:56
my case no 17** from nepal .DS 260 submitt 8 july 2015 i haven’t my second letter.
any idia plz
October 24, 2015 at 06:06
Your late submission delayed it. You will probably have a January interview.
October 24, 2015 at 05:15
sir, one of my fren told me that viewing completed ds260 frequently fom ceac site creates problems! ones we send it, we shouldnt go to ceac site and open completed ds260 form! sir, is it true or just a rumour?
October 24, 2015 at 06:06
Idiotic rumor.
October 24, 2015 at 05:33
Hello sir
i’m Syrian, and I live in Syria, the american embassy in Damascus is closed since 2012 and the 1NL was indicate that the Post is Amman
back when I was submitting the ds-260 form I chose the Beirut,Lebanon embassy instead of the default Amman, Jordan, and the the surprise came with the 2NL “the interview will be held in Amman, Jordan in December ”
Is that normal ??
what’s your advice ?
The traveling from Syria to Beirut is a lot easier than traveling form Syria, Beirut, Amman
also some visa applicants traveling from Syria have encountered difficulties arriving in Amman for their immigrant visa interviews.
here is a link from american embassy in Jordan:
http://jordan.usembassy.gov/visa_syrian_applicants.html
October 24, 2015 at 06:05
You could contact KCC and ask them to switch you…. If you want to do that – do it asap. Once the case is with the embassy, it is a little harder to switch.
October 30, 2015 at 10:20
I contacted them and their reply was like
———————————-
Thank you for your inquiry.
The DV interviewing Post for Syria is Amman. You can find the website for that U.S. Embassy or Consulate, which will include information such as the address and hours of operation, via the http://www.usembassy.gov website. Click on the map there to find a list of links to websites for individual embassies and consulates.
The contact information for the United States Consulate/ Embassy of Amman is 962 (6) 300 6741.
The contact information for the United States Consulate/ Embassy of Beirut is [email protected].
———————————-
So, I think its up to the american embassy in amman if they would agree to transfer my case to beirut
thank you sir for your advice.
October 30, 2015 at 22:39
It is also up to Beirut. You should agree that with them BEFORE you ask Amman to move it
October 31, 2015 at 21:30
I emailed them, and their response was really quick, after 20 mins
————————————–
“Thank you for your email. We understand how difficult the security situation is in Syria. The Department of State has issued travel warnings regarding the situation there.
Unfortunately, U.S. Embassy Beirut has limited infrastructure and availability. We regret that Embassy Beirut cannot accept the transfer of your case. While we understand it is difficult for you, it is not impossible to go to U.S. Embassy Amman for your interview. The Embassy is currently working with the Government of Jordan to allow immigrant visa applicants to enter the country. When the U.S. Embassy in Damascus shut down, Embassy Amman became the primary processing post for Syrian immigrant visa applicants. This decision was based on resources.
We regret not being able to give a more favorable response.
————————————–
So, I have to go to Amman and do my interview there, there is no other options for me
Thank u sir again
October 31, 2015 at 23:24
OK that is clear at least.

October 24, 2015 at 14:40
You can’t have the fellowship and process the DV. The clash won’t be detrimental to the DV process as such and the DV won’t clash with the fellowship – but the J1 is the first issue depending on timing. The J1 visa they are describing comes with a 2 year home residency requirement, so if you process that visa first you will mess up your DV. So – you are going to have to choose between the fellowship and DV. It isn’t a question of background checks – it is a question of what you do.
October 24, 2015 at 10:23
hi brits, when filling the DS260 form i did not include the phone number of the person i want my GC be mailed to, should i ask KCC to unlock and include his number. If YES will that cause a delay. Coz i was expecting a december interview but no 2nl it seem am going to be interviewed i january. CN AF13###. Submitted july 11. Also, the person providing me the I-134 form is the same person i indicated my GC should be mailed to, but i do not know him personally. A friend of mine in the US asked him to do it for me. Do u know if the embassy will contact him to know our relationship because he indicated am his cousine in the I-134 form.
October 24, 2015 at 14:29
Oh man. You must realize that lying on forms to the government is a serious mistake. Why risk your GC for a silly lie???
No need to unlock your form for the phone number. Hopefully they won’t find reason to investigate.
October 24, 2015 at 16:28
yh, i did told my friend to tell this guy that my GC will be mailed to him. He(my friend) told me that would not be a problem. They know each other and live in the same state. Do u think i should change my GC mailing location. The guy in question is from my country and lives in his own house in the USA. He promised to lodge when i go hopfully go to the USA that is why i used him as my GC receipent.
October 24, 2015 at 19:27
This is your choice – make your decision.

Dear Brit
Thank you very much for the support and good info.
I do have question regarding DS260 form, my name on the passport have four full name and i entered on the DS260 the first name and second name and last name, i skip the third name, does it affect or it’s normal???
October 24, 2015 at 22:38
Your DS260 should have the full legal name. I suggest you unlock and correct it.
October 24, 2015 at 23:32
i did not indicate he is my cousineon the DS260. Coz ithere is no such thing that ask your relationship with the person you want to stay with in the USA on the form. I think it just say if you have some were to live? IS this place were you want your GC mailed. Hope am correct. HE (the one providing me the AFFIDAVIT) is the one that indicated am his cousine on the section,RELATIONSHIP TO SPONSORE on the I-134 form. And he promised on the form to provide me with accomodation. That is why i used his name as were i will be living. Also GC mailed to. I hope you give me your kindly advice. Coz i thought it would be a problem if i indicate a different place as to were i will live in the USA after he has said he will accomodate me.

Hi Simon,
Do DV applicants have a “Priority Date”? Since my consulate is asking me to provide the “Priority Date” in order to proceed the document and visa pick up process, how can I obtain this Priority Date or if I don’t, is it okay that i don’t have it for the Consulate?
October 26, 2015 at 16:24

hi brit ! a minor spelling problem in my ds260 that – to write Hawassa I wrote Awassa- which is the name of my collage I learnt in.does have a problem when cheking my document at interview ? Or unlock it after 4month of submission (early july2015) ? cn af2*** no 2nl yet.
October 26, 2015 at 17:27
I don’t think you need to unlock to correct that.
October 26, 2015 at 17:33
Quick Question:
After analyzing the feedback from the selectees, on average, how much time would you say the processing of DS260 is taking?
Three months? Four months?
October 26, 2015 at 17:47
Yes, 3 to 4 months. We have a number of early to mid July submissions that got 2NL this month, but there are also some mid June onward cases that did not get a December interview.
October 26, 2015 at 19:38
Britsimon, DV2016 AS case number above 10000. Chances? Will you be able to better estimate once numbers come out in Dec/Jan?
Also, currently applying to grad school in the US. I will need to commit to a school by May. Am I likely to get an interview date by then (actual interview doesn’t need to be before then)?
What’s the general feel/direction of the interview?
Finally, I can prove funds with bank statements above your suggested minimum of $10K. Is that enough, or do I need a I-134 form?
Thanks for your input.
October 26, 2015 at 20:41
I don’t think I will feel confident about that number until I see it on the VB. I would not expect to see the interview before September 2016.
Your savings should be fine unless your embassy has a specific requirement for a I-134.
October 26, 2015 at 21:01
Dear Brit, I red through your advice on 10.000 us dollar for each adult, if no affidavit of support provided. Did I understand right?
How much is for kids, one 4 years old and one 11 years old?
Kind regards!
October 26, 2015 at 22:42
Around $25k for the family of 4.

Hi Brit, i arrived in US on Friday. thank you very much for your support. I have a question, i am applying for a friend for dv2017 program. i filled all required fields and when i pressed “submit” button the page responded slowly and actually the connection was lost. Do you think the entry was submitted or i can reaply for him again ? If i apply again will it be classified as double entry ? your comment would be highly appreciated .
Thanks in advance
October 27, 2015 at 21:14
Unless you see the confirmation number you should assume it did not register the entry.
October 27, 2015 at 20:23

hello brit how are u doing hope fine.i just want to know whether i will my af9104 will make the January after submitting on the 17th august,2015.my af9104 was current in September and am still waiting for my interview date .brit do u think i will get an interview?i am worried coz maybe its because of my wrong year of birth on my initial entry dat is causing this delay.
October 28, 2015 at 14:10
Your late submission of the DS260 is what is causing the delay. I don’t think you will get a January interview either as they are still working on some June and July submitted cases.
October 28, 2015 at 13:28
Britt,fine !
Cheating of case number , conf’n number & other personal info. can it be a risk of problem in some one’s dv process?
Some one told me that copying other’s personal info.before or after submission of ds260 of right winner, illegals cheat you upto enterance of USA in place of winner.oh!how can it be ?
How the kcc & country embassies are preventing such illegals ? & how they asure each right winner in all process? I am waiting for your sweety reply . Tank u for all!

October 28, 2015 at 17:26
Hi Simon,
I have few concerns regarding how to answer some confusing questions on DS-260:
1- Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?
Should I answer Yes or No ? and if Yes, what’s the explanation ?
2- Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examination or its equivalent?
I am Pharmacist, I should answer NO, correct ?
3- Are you a health care worker seeking to perform such work in the United States but have not yet received certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools or from an equivalent approved independent credentialing organisation?
As I said, I am a Pharmacist so I am a healthcare worker but I have nothing to do with Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools !
Should I answer Yes or NO ? and if Yes, what’s the explanation ?
4- Regarding Vaccination question, I am 30 years old and don’t have my vaccination records, how should I answer ?
5- Were you issued an Alien Registration Number by the Department of Homeland Security?
I have been to the US on B1/B2 Visa for 7 days trip and came back, should I have an Alien Registration Number ?
Thanks for your help.
Mohamed.

I cover these questions in detail on the link below – so quick suggested answers.
https://britsimonsays.com/completing-the-ds260-for-dv-lottery-entrants/
1. Yes
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
4. No
5. No (you would not have an A number from a B1/B2).
Read the link for reasoning….
October 28, 2015 at 22:14
Hi Simon,
According to your article, you said the answer for the question “Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?” doesn’t matter.
I looked at my form and I answered YES to this question… Should I unlock my DS-260 form to correct it?
October 28, 2015 at 22:29

My bad Simon. I mean I answered NO to this question. Would it be a problem as I want to work in the US?
Thanks again for your help!

It isn’t a problem either way – it won’t affect the DV lottery application nor your job prospects.

It doesn’t matter what you write on the DV-2017 entry – it makes no difference to you chance of selection – so just pick what seem appropriate!
