People are receiving their 2NLs for March interviews, some are going today, but it will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260. A survey like that helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog.
Please add your first submission date, and if you unlocked please add that resubmission date and the data you changed. That is helpful for all.
Now – if you do not get your expected interview, please come back here and read updates to this page to see the feedback I will have received.
Based on comments I have received, I suspect we will see some people with DS260s as late as early October in this batch. If correct, that would indicate (as I have mentioned ) that the backlog is reducing somewhat, so whilst there will always be some backlog, we might be seeing slightly faster DS260 processing times.

Yes – you have to ask specifically for each case to be unlocked.
April 29, 2016 at 18:01
U mean i hv to send another request again. Putting his name, his date of birth & same case numbr??
April 29, 2016 at 18:24
If you are the principal winner they need your name, dob, case number – and then clearly ask for his DS260 to be unlocked.

Dear mr. Simon, i am having my interview on april. Can i update my ds 260 now. If so how can i amend it. What is the procedure?
March 7, 2016 at 17:30
You cannot amend the form once you are scheduled, so any changes can be made at the interview or perhaps by contacting the embassy.
February 20, 2016 at 16:10

do u think i have a probability of getting a visa if i have passed the interview.what experience do u know about that.am from Ethiopia
February 7, 2016 at 15:54
You should be OK. Relax.
February 6, 2016 at 19:10
I submitted ds 260 in january
February 6, 2016 at 21:14
Ok, so you will wait a couple of months because you submitted late.
February 6, 2016 at 16:55
some delay it is not clear for me due mean they will inform me to reschedule again
February 6, 2016 at 17:42
Because they have rescheduled they will have to request a visa allocation from KCC for you. That would have been allocated for you in December, but returned to KCC at the end of December. Now when you do have the interview they will THEN ask for the visa – and that could add some delay after your interview UNLESS it is a very busy embassy and you can be allocated a visa from a denial in that same month. You just have to wait and see….
February 6, 2016 at 16:49
how could it have some delay it is not clear for me due mean they will put me again in AP?
February 6, 2016 at 14:15

February 4, 2016 at 03:10
I edited your info for your privacy.
I just answered you in the other site – so pasting the reply here also…
The VBs are published at the link below. Your number is over the number for March interviews, so you will probably get an interview in April, with a 2NL in late February.

February 2, 2016 at 05:16
Hi Simon my number is 5xxx sent my application first week of october and got my 2NL on january 25th. Interview scheduled for first week of march.
Thanks a lot for your assistance and guidance. Keep it up
February 1, 2016 at 09:30
Dear BritSimon,
Before my question, here the info:
DS-260 submitted 29/11/2015
2NL recieved 21/1/2016
Interview scheduled for 4/3/2016
Case number EU3XXX
Now the question:
For personal reason I will not be able to attend the interview as scheduled, so I sent the interview reschedule request.
Immediately I got an answer that my interview is cancelled and once a new interview date is scheduled an appointment letter will be sent.
From your vast experience, for how long the delay will be and are they paying attentions to the specific requests – I asked them to reschedule for April.
Thank you for your help!
Alan.
February 1, 2016 at 16:06
It’s impossible to predict – it is entirely up to the embassy. One case I know of was delayed 9 months, others get rescheduled within a few weeks – there is no “normal”.
January 31, 2016 at 08:02
hello sir. just want to be on point and exploit your help with great satisfaction. My name on pasport and birth certificate shows e.g LUA BERTIL NI ( showing my surname as LUA and given names as BERTIL NI). I respected this order on my ds260 form but my confirmation page came out as LUA, BERTIL NI meanwhile my applicant name on my 1nl shows NI, LUA BERTIL and it was writen on it “Dear LUA BERTIL NI, you have been…..” I dont know if i made a mistake since my confirmation page came as LUA, BERTIL NI but my applicant name shows NI, LUA BERTIL. Pls help…
Secondly, am in 2nd year in a profesional state university of Commerce and Management in my country (stated on my ds260 form) as current place of studies) and got my ADVANCED LEVEL which qualifies me already. Does it mean i will stop my degree program (anticipated year of graduation is Dec 2017) this year after my interview (anticipated interview is April)?
January 31, 2016 at 16:18
The 1NL shows you entered incorrectly on the original entry. You have corrected it on the DS260 which was the correct thing to do. Hopefully the CO will accept the eDV was a genuine mistake.
How you handle your degree program is up to you. You have 6 months to make the first entry, then the first absence from the USA can be up to 12 months, so If I were you, I would delay the interview by unlocking my form now. That would allow you to delay the first entry to the USA to early 2017 (a short trip) and then you would come back to finish your studies and go back to the USA to live in late 2017 or early 2018.
January 31, 2016 at 05:28
Hello brit sir,
My case number is 2016AS66** from Nepal. I submitted my DS form on 18th May.Right now I am pregnant of 6 month & expected delivery date is for April. Please help me what can i do, will it be possible for me to unlock DS form till i get my second letter or what can i do if my second letter
came before the delivery.
January 31, 2016 at 06:02
Your interview will be late – August or September. So, when the baby is born, unlock immediately and add the child.
January 31, 2016 at 06:24
Thank u so much for your reply brit sir. That means i can unlock before my interview date. I was confuse with is that i need to unlock it before the second letter comes.
January 31, 2016 at 06:38
Yes, you need to unlock before the 2NL, but your number means you won’t get the 2NL until after the birth.
January 31, 2016 at 06:40
ok thanks brit sir.
January 30, 2016 at 04:48
hi sir, i am current for march interview and wil get married in that same month but after my interview. sir pls what do you advice me to do inorder that my husband travels with me. or will it be possible to sponsor him and for how long will it take. thanks
January 30, 2016 at 07:15
Delay your interview until after the wedding. That will cost you a small amount of month and be fast, whereas sponsoring him outside of the DV lottery will take 2 years and a lot more in fees.
January 29, 2016 at 08:57
Hi. I really am thankful. You help us a lot. For my case:
case number 2016AS000048xx
I submitted DS260 on 23 Sept 2015.
I received the 2nd letter on Jan 26, 2016
I didn’t unlock or change the data.
Thanks again.
January 29, 2016 at 00:53
Accra Embassy’s rate of denial are high but sometimes their reasons for denial are harsh, a lady was denied because the CO her picture on her high school certificate looked slightly different. But mean while it was her genuine certificate from WAEC. Pictures on high school certificate is no coloured, its always black and white so it sometimes look slightly different considering the year of completion of school which might result in great transformation in weight and face.
To base on this to deny someone because the CO thought it wasn’t her was some part cruel.
Look at someone picture in a black and white mode while differ slightly than looking at the person in reality or looking at a coloured picture
January 29, 2016 at 01:48
That is very subjective. In the case you are describing, the CO might not have denied it because of the photo specifically, but rather that the photo or perhaps other factors led the CO to believe there was something suspicious about the case. There may have been other indications of that suspicion – we don’t know. Obviously, when that gets reported, it is described as being solely about the photo – but we don’t know. It is up to the selectee to present proof of their case.
I do agree that some denials at Accra seem harsh – and some I have dealt with have been downright incorrect. However, the COs are faced with so many “bad” cases they are probably somewhat erring on the side of denial through frustration/annoyance. People argue there (by eye witness reports) – sometimes with great conviction and sometimes, no doubt, with emotional arguments. It must be exhausting for the COs – and I don’t doubt they sometimes make mistakes as a result.
January 28, 2016 at 21:48
Britsimon ..
Its incorrect to use dv refusal basis to assert that Ghana is a country where documentation and rule following are weak..
Where are u from. .
Perhaps we can make meaningful comparative analysis. .
How and why should you burst into such cold conclusions. .
Do you have detailed report of all cases. . You only rely on reported speeches by purported accomplishes and desperate applicants.
Elevate your reasoning about Ghana because you know nothing about how institutions work over there. ..
January 28, 2016 at 22:06
“Such cold conclusions” – What are you talking about?
I have been studying DV and helping people from all over the world since 2013 – and that includes Ghana.
I have demystified a process, published information about the process and helped thousands of people get their Green Card.
I have had MANY detailed reports from successful and unsuccessful applicants in Ghana and other countries.
I identified the rise of agents in the Ghana, and predicted and tracked the resulting increase in refusals.
Ghana embassy have published information about the standards of documentation and the reasons for their high rate of refusal – I have studied that.
The changes in government systems in Ghana over the last few years that have impact on this process are well documented – and I have researched and studied that information.
So – I make my statements based on years of information, and evaluation of the data. My credibility in this area speaks for itself and I have spent my time and answered many questions from many people INCLUDING YOU! But somehow you feel qualified to come here (to MY blog provided as a resource to help people!) and tell ME to “elevate my reasoning”? Seriously??? Your statements are idiotic.
January 28, 2016 at 21:38
Do u think that people are soo foolish and dumb to raise monies for medicals and visa fee with the risk of presenting fake waec
Chale. ..Elevate your reasoning. .
Never knew of reckless treatment of applicants till my nephew had his just last two weeks. .
As I said, I hope that u dont have any error..
These are people who act like robots…..
January 28, 2016 at 21:51
People are doing exactly that. Many people are getting refused in Accra and it is very often for foolish and dumb mistakes such as presenting false documents or not following the instructions.
January 28, 2016 at 21:31
Did u say pardonable mistakes . .
Hope that you kumi dont have any errors on yr documents.
January 28, 2016 at 17:53
Very good Joe, for ur serine advice to Winners from Ghana.
I’m also a winner from Ghana and would be attending my interview this February at the Accra consulate. However From my research made on high denial rates in Accra, I’ve noticed the US consulate in Ghana wants applicants to entirely desist from the use of agents in the dv programme.
Fine u can fill forms and make a pardonable mistake sometimes. But using agents to fill dv forms for you can cause an unreasonable mistake being created which you cannot answer entirely.
Bros. Agents will extort huge sums of monies from you and at the end of the day would be denied on top.
To those with problems with name arrangements on your cert I think and believe the consulate has ways of checking the genuity of certificates especially high school certs, so don’t worry about that if only your certificates are genuine . Rather think you should gather enough proof during interview to defend your genuity.
Those going to the Accra consulate with fake documents, hahahaaahaaaa, think you would be denied cos believe the consulers are well trained to detect fake stuffs.
January 28, 2016 at 13:50
Dear Brit,
I was registering my interview appointment as per embassy request, and I suddenly saw that the number of DS-260 is requested.
What is this, please?
I cannot register and confirm my interview without this number.
Cheers
Saimir
January 28, 2016 at 16:51
Go back in to your DS260. Review every page and on the last page you will see two numbers – one is your case number, the other is the DS260 number.
January 28, 2016 at 16:57
You mean the Confirmation Number ?
It is at the first page of DS-260, I can find it also at the confirmation page I received after submitting DS260 , right ?
January 28, 2016 at 17:28
Yes.
January 28, 2016 at 19:39
Thanks, man.
I was doubting if it was that OBM Number which appears on the top, right side of the first page of the online DS260 application.
So, it is not the OBM, but the Confirmation Number, isnt’ it ?
Sorry for asking again, but I want to be sure, because I am waiting to register the Courirer Service.
Best
January 28, 2016 at 19:45
Not the OBM number, no.
January 28, 2016 at 10:08
Hey Brit,
How are you ?
My interview will be in March.
Do you know for Tirana Embassy if they require one I-134 only ( for all the family members) or do they require one I-134 per each family member?
Thanks a lot, man.
Have a great day
January 28, 2016 at 15:32
Tirana have weird rules. An I134 covers the whole family, but They, unlike any other embassy, will expect your sponsor to provide two forms if your sponsor is married. One from the sponsor and one from the spouse.
Further, they apply the poverty limit at 125% which raises the income level.
Both rules are incorrect, but they refuse cases that don’t meet this standard.

January 27, 2016 at 21:05
Hi Britsimon,
what does “in transit ” mean when you check your application status at CEAC
January 27, 2016 at 21:10
Please always use the search feature (magnifying glass in top right portion of every page). If you had searched in “transit” you would have found this link.
https://britsimonsays.com/2016-ceac-data-first-file/
January 27, 2016 at 21:37
thanks Britsimon, I use my phone to update and check comments so I don’t get to see all the page features including the seach button
January 27, 2016 at 21:39
It works on android and iphone phone4s with a browser.
January 27, 2016 at 19:15
Hi britsimon
Is it possible to get the old support (W-2 and 1040) from my sponsor? but my interview will be on 3 march.
Thanks
Chou.
January 27, 2016 at 20:49
Get that, and more recent payslips too
January 27, 2016 at 18:50
Hi Simon. Thank you for your helping. If we say our ds260 has filled by agent. Will it be a problem?
January 27, 2016 at 19:08
Yes and no. The problem comes when the agent has made a mistake. YOU are responsible for that mistake, and in Accra in particular this can create a suspicion about the case in general. So – if the agent made no mistakes, it may be no problem at all.
January 27, 2016 at 16:46
Hi Bristsimon,
am Joe from Ghana and I had some chat with friends who went to the Accra embassy for their interview which was denied because of some mistakes they made in filling the ds260 forms
A guy went last week and was denied because his passport had his place of birth as Accra but he filled the ds260 forms with his city of birth as Ejura, but the instructions clearly stated that the information on the first page of the ds260 forms must match as it is written in ur passport. so pls let us take time in filling the ds forms
A lady was also denied because the CO asked her who filled the ds260 forms for her, she lied about filling it herself so the CO asked her to tell him the procedure used in filling the forms. An agent helped her but she lied. I think the CO saw a common mistake which she could have rectified if she filled it herself, the CO was ready to make the correction for her but decided to ask her about it.
On Thursday 21st January, a lady was denied because the husband had also won with another lady as the husband, for example A being the husband won with lady B and also with lady C, AB, AC,so he went to the interview with B and the CO asked the husband if he knows lady C, the CO told him he’s married to lady C so denied them
So please take time in filling the ds260 forms
January 27, 2016 at 17:49
Thanks Joe. I think you are right to point out the importance of reading and following the instructions. Further, your examples show that lying is a bad idea anytime – but particularly in Accra where fraud levels are high and denials are also high. We could see this as the Accra embassy being unfair – BUT in reality the embassy are simply applying “normal” standards in a country where documentation standards and rule following are weak. This surprises many applicants in Ghana, who normally assume there is a “solution” to everything.
I think they are also trying to send a message to people who are foolish enough to use agents. These agents are a curse. They carelessly introduce errors into the process, and they are all too often trying to extort money from the winners, once results are announced. Agents in most other countries don’t do that.
So – I would agree. READ the rules/instructions, FOLLOW the rules/instructions. If an agent has filled out your forms, and has made a mistake, you are highly likely to be refused in Accra. If you present fraudulent documents you will be refused…..
So – peole need to be careful!
January 27, 2016 at 16:04
hi dear mr britsimon due to your continued effort with US i became little better in the analysis for example when we see those people who received 2NL compare with date of submit that will indicated to who is going the density for all regions ** we need to your artistry vision according to the new information Do you see a breakthrough holds Especially AF region
thanks lot
January 27, 2016 at 18:06
