People have today started receiving their 2NLs for January interviews. It will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.
If you have received your 2NL – please take a moment to reply to this post and add your region/case number range PLUS the date of submission and whether you unlocked at any point. This helps me gauge the backlog and DS260 processing times. Last month it was clear that cases submitted later than mid June had a chance not to be scheduled because of backlog on DS260 processing. We will see how far that backlog has been handled. Hopefully, this month the backlog will have been reduced.

December 20, 2016 at 15:33
I contacted kcc and this is their responses
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2017 program will begin in October 2016 and conclude on September 30, 2017. Please refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
Interviews for the DV 2017 program will begin in October 2016 and conclude on September 30, 2017. KCC cannot provide information as to when an interview date may become available for your case. Interviews are scheduled numerically according to assigned case numbers which have completed processing. The Department of State designates how many interviews will be scheduled each month according to visa availability. You may refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov for the list of current numbers beginning August 2016. This information is updated on the 15th day of each month thereafter.
When inquiring about the status of a Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center is a document processing facility, and cannot advise you on whether or not you will qualify for a visa. Only a consular officer can make that decision. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
What does it mean ?? Brit

Hi Brit!
Thanks for all these information. I have a question.
My wife is selected for 2017 lottery but she has forgotten the password for her e-mail address. As the second letter will come in e-mail, does it matter? Will the second letter for both of us come by logging in ESC through just one confirmation number? Please help!!
December 16, 2016 at 17:50
Only she will get the email, but you don’t need the email to log in to the ESC. So – when 2NLs go out, check the ESC site.
December 16, 2016 at 01:35
Hi! Mi case number is 2017EU00014xxx. I submitted the DS-260 on May 8th. I contacted KCC on November 30th to know the status of my case and they told me it was completed and forwarded to the consulate. They also told me that my appointment had been scheduled for January 4th. The thing is… it’s been two weeks and I still haven’t received the 2NL. I have called KCC a couple of times and they say that maybe my info it’s not being updated and that “they will make a note”. I’m less than 3 weeks away from my interview and still haven’t received anything. I’m also checking the website a few times a day… and nothing. Have you ever see a delay like this with the 2NL? What do you think I should do? Do I have to worry or just be patient?
Ps. I live in a country that is not elegible, but have the correct nationality for participate. Everything with my documents are in perfectly order. My case number appears at the embassy appointments list for January. They aren’t used to do interviews for DV cases, but they will do mine. It’s just this delay with the 2NL… I don’t know what to think.
I’ll highly appreciate any comments you have in the above.
December 16, 2016 at 02:00
No I have not seen that happen before. I would keep calling KCC but also Pl an on attending the interview. If the embassy have your file, it will be ok.
About your eligibilty. It us nothing to do with where you live NOR your nationality. What matters is your place of birth.

hi Simon
am much delightful as you previously assisted me, much gratefully about that.
question i have now is
1. first dv entry i right my name as…….. ABDI, OSMAN ALI
yet my name on my passports are ABDI, ALI OSMAN I did not change name in the ds260 fearing if i change the names i might discourages due to UN-marching names.
so kindly do since name are not marching do i have to contact KCC so to change for me or i request for unlock of my ds260.
2.kindly i will to ask if the changing my first name to second would have much effect at the date of interview
December 15, 2016 at 20:08
1. Unlock and correct this as soon as possible.
2. Don’t worry about the date of the interview, the OUTCOME of the interview is what you should be thinking about!

Hello Brit,
I am a DV 2017 winner from Africa, I submited the DS 260 for me and my spouse on the 1st of November 2016 but since then, I have not received any reply from KCC as to whether they have received my form. I am really worried as they’ve long passed my case number.
December 14, 2016 at 15:40
The article above explains why you have not heard anything. It’s not a mystery if you READ what I already wrote!
December 20, 2016 at 02:32
When we are talking About submition date does it refers to principal applicant or derivatives?(if submitted @ different times)
December 20, 2016 at 05:49
Principal normally, but the addition of derivatives much later could cause some small delay.
December 14, 2016 at 08:19
Thanks Brit

Hi brit;
Thanks for your upto date information am very greatfull about it.
Kindly i would like to ask; after i complited Ds260 late may this year i realised i hv re-enter my current job as both current and my previous job, having same adresses same company name kindly what should i do about it or can that re-entry lead to my disqualification?
Thanks;
December 11, 2016 at 19:25
Assuming you are not yet scheduled or current, you could unlock and correct that. It’s not a big problem.
