People are now receiving their 2NLs for June interviews, it will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260 and their case number. That helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog
Please add your first submission date, and if you unlocked please add that resubmission date and the data you changed. That is helpful for all.
Now – if you do not get your expected interview, please come back here and read updates to this page to see the feedback I will have received.

AF29***, submitted in July, unlocked in October. Interview June14
April 23, 2016 at 08:12
hello simon,
thank u for your update, i got my 2NL today and my interview is on June, but when i checked my visa status check, it shows it is in transit, what does it means.
April 23, 2016 at 15:59
It means your case has been transmitted to the embassy, but the embassy have not yet updated CEAC with the ready status. That is normal, some embassies do that quickly, some don’t.
April 23, 2016 at 10:51
DS260 sent in 17 june.cn 30xxx intervew date in 23 june in semegal thank u sir for ur help
April 23, 2016 at 11:54
AF292XX. DS260 sent on June 15, 2015. Interview date on June 30, 2016. Unlocked thrice: Feb 10, 2016, March 5, 2016 and March 16, 2016. Appreciate your help.
In related news…when I unlocked in March, it was to add my new born. I successfully added her and resubmitted the application, but she hasn’t been included among my derivatives in the appointment letter. I am not worried per say, but would like to understand what is happening in the background.
Once again, thanks for everything
April 23, 2016 at 15:52
No need to worry – that is normal. The 2NL is based on the eDV entry, but the case still includes the infant.
April 23, 2016 at 16:56
Britsimon, It is Raphie here again. Thanks for the reassurance about my baby being omitted from the 2NL. You say this is because the 2NL is based on the eDv? That confuses me then since my spouse and first son were not in the eDV yet they are on the 2NL. In case you are wondering, I wasn’t married and didn’t have a child by the time of entry. Yeah, I dropped them like a rabbit!!! (I get that all the time from my friends).
So what do you think has happened? Should I still relax about it?
April 23, 2016 at 17:29
You can relax as long as all your documents are in order and that you followed the original rules.
Actually, your case clarifies something for me.
For the family I assume you were unmarried for the entry but your girlfriend was already pregnant. In that case there was no need to list her on the eDV.
Then you married and she had the baby prior to the June DS260 submission. Based on that KCC used that info to create your case.
Later you had the next child and included that child in March – but by then the case was processed so they omitted the child from the 2NL – but the child will be processed along with you.
If I have any of the assumptions wrong – let me know in case you have a more serious issue.
April 23, 2016 at 18:19
Your assumptions are on point. I actually had the first baby in November, 2014 a few days, shortly after submitting the eDV in October 2014. We got married in Feb 2015 before the release of results in May last year. So when I was submitting my DS260 in June, I included my son and my spouse.
April 23, 2016 at 23:01
Then all is fine…
April 23, 2016 at 13:13
AS60XX submitted end of may 2015 and resubmitted on feb 2016 due to add on child. Interview date in June 06.
In the beneficiary list, i didn’t see my second child which i added. Do i need to worry or can be sort out in interview? thanx for your help BritSimon
April 23, 2016 at 15:51
No need to worry – that is normal.
April 23, 2016 at 14:15
Hi Britsimon, AS79XX, received 2NL April 22, submitted DS260 Sept 13 2015. Got to share what happened and maybe you and people can tell us if it is normal or unusual. My husband is British, and I am from Singapore, we live in Netherlands. He won the DV lottery charging to spouse’s country of birth, in this case, Singapore. In DS260, we chose Singapore as the location for interview (and we just checked again to make sure that there was no error here). When we received the 2NL, our interview has been scheduled for 1 June in LONDON! That’s ok for us, but we found it very strange. Is that normal?
We have a couple of hypotheses. One is that my husband’s paperwork is all UK based and they decided that the London embassy will be better equipped to deal with it (most logical? If not, why not give us Amsterdam where we live?). A second one, less likely, is that my daughter is almost 21 (in June) and Singapore may not accommodate te interview before her birthday. But that theory is flawed because she would still be protected and will not age out until Jan 2017.
So we don’t understand this really, although we are too thrilled to really care. Just sharing so people know they may not always get the location of interview they asked for on DS260.
April 23, 2016 at 15:50
The interview is based on the current address, not the embassy you “request”. So – unless you gave a current address showing a Singapore addess, the request to be interviewed there was invalid.
So there are two scenarios:
One is that your DS260 shows a current address of UK.
The second is that by requesting Singapore, your threw the KCC staff into a state of confusion and they mistakenly selected London, perhaps because they say he is British.
Lastly – make sure you take all your educational documents to the interview as well as his. The rules say that you will both have to meet the educational or work experience standard.
April 24, 2016 at 07:46
Scenario 2!! Current address is clearly Netherlands, so we must have confused them… Oh dear! Yes, I will bring my education certs, no one is going anywhere without me :)!
April 24, 2016 at 16:42
Hi Britsimon – a question on police certificates we have been researching and the answers have been confusing. We currently live in Netherlands and will have been here for 10 months at the point of the interview date, this is the first time we are living in the Netherlands (no previous history in this country). Our interview will be in London. As I mentioned before, my husband is British, and I am Singaporean. Is it clear if we need a police certificate for the Netherlands? We think not, but some sources seem to indicate that if you are CURRENTLY living in a foreign country, then the 6 month rule (not the 12 month) applies. I will call the London embassy to clarify if there is no clarity from precedence. Any insight?
April 24, 2016 at 16:53
It is perfectly clear – the “some sources” are incorrect. Technically you do NOT have to obtain the police report in those circumstances. However, there have been cases where a CO has asked for a police report when someone had just under the 12 months (particularly if the precise date of entry or exit cannot be proven, as would be the case for a Brit in the Netherlands). For that reason (and not the some sources reason) I recommend you obtain the police report – just in case it is requested.
April 24, 2016 at 17:03
Hey there, here is what I cut and paste from the London US embassy site: “If it is your place of birth, or current residence you will require a police certificate if you have resided in that country for at least six months since your sixteenth birthday. The period of residence is twelve months, for any other country.”… hrummmphhh…https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visa-faqs/visa-processing-and-documents/.

April 24, 2016 at 16:58
No issue – just prepare documents.
April 24, 2016 at 12:55
One question dear simon
If a derivative’s frozen age expires on May but he has passed his interview and he is waiting for visa then could he travel to the USA or he must be under 21 while entering to the USA?
April 24, 2016 at 16:54
If he/she has the visa, the age on date of entry doesn’t matter.
April 24, 2016 at 15:29
Brit,
Is it OK if I do my medical 25 days before the interview. How long is the medical valid.
April 24, 2016 at 16:53
That is OK. Your visa will be valid for 6 months after the date of the medical.

Hi Brit,
According to their experience, some winners of dv2015 say that the ap speeds up in the last months of the lottery year ( May to Sep.). Is this claim real in general?
April 25, 2016 at 02:10
Sort of. There is an obvious push to clear the bulk of cases up before the end of the year, BUT AP speed for an individual case will still take just as long. They are not going to cut corners on security simply because someone might miss out on a Green Card.
April 25, 2016 at 18:47
Thx Brit, but I didn’t get it! In the first part of your answer you say “yes, sort of” but in the second half you rejet it for individuals. You mean they do the same process as before for individuals but faster?
April 25, 2016 at 19:29
Toward the end of the year there will be thousands of people in AP. There is a period of AP (enhanced background checks), and then there is a period of time where the embassy and KCC have to perform some processes or admin to finalize the cases. Because of the impending year end, KCC and the embassies will push their resources to getting that admin work done BUT that has no impact on a particular AP case that is going through the FBI name check.
April 25, 2016 at 03:49
Hi Brit, I remember Last year June I asked you when my interview will be with case number Af356xx, And you said ” It will be a year from now month of July 2016″. Honestly your guesstimate was 100% correct. Am almost there, interview will be at Nairobi. This process has taught me Virtue Of Patience.
Anyway I have 3 questions.
1. We have 3 visa bulletins left. Do you think will still see jumps roughly between 6k-7k in the 3 months left consecutively.
2. If we about to max A.f quota do you think there will be a slow down in number jumps
3. What are the chances on percent level of seeing the word current on final v.b for A. F
April 25, 2016 at 05:23
1. The next 2 VBs could see that, yes. The third is trickier to say…
2. See 1.
3. We will have to wait and see.
April 25, 2016 at 04:30
I submitted my Ds260 on 9th and received my 2NL on Friday 22nd April. Interview date is 22nd June. CN is 2016AF000304$$

Good day Brit!Thank you for the excellent insight and help you have been giving on this platform.Much appreciated and God Bless you richly!I submitted my DS-260 June the 10th.First unlocked on the 25th of August 2015 to correct minor errors.Second unlock was on the 9th of October to add some passport details for beneficiaries.Third unlock was on the 31st of October to change the interview location. The last and the most recent was on the 12th of February 2016 to change employment details.NB:Each time i unlocked the DS-260,I resubmitted on the following day except for the last time i resubmitted on the same day.My interview would be on the 14th of June.CN:AF34XX.
Got one more question regarding the affidavit of support.Do my petitioner have to contact the NVC first before filing an AOS for me or is it me who would contact the consulate i am going for an interview regarding the affidavit or can the petitioner just go ahead and send it to me with the supporting documents without contacting the NVC or the consulate to hold my interview?
April 25, 2016 at 17:41
You get the AoS sent straight to you, and present it at your interview.

Check the ESC page. You might have missed the email. If you see the 1NL (Not the 2NL) then yes – contact KCC.
April 25, 2016 at 22:30
Hello Brits, today I came across this in the embassy website from the frequently asked questions about the validity of the police certificate. “For your country of residence, a police certificate is considered valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. Police certificates obtained from other countries where you previously resided are valid indefinitely, provided that you do not return to the country and reside for six months or more.”
How long does it take to prepare the Affidavit of Support and to send it ?
April 25, 2016 at 23:37
How long does it take to prepare the Affidavit of Support and to send it ?
Well – that is up to the person preparing it – how can I comment on that?
April 25, 2016 at 23:49
Hi Simon, When are you going to predict next visa bulletin esp for Asia?? I know it is harder to predict Asia now, but let me share your opinion ? Thanks in advance
April 26, 2016 at 00:12
I’m not going to predict AS region. We are over the highest number that was reached last year, we don’t have the ongoing CEAC data and AS region is particularly influenced by the way Iranian AP cases are handled (which is policy, not math).
April 26, 2016 at 00:50
Hi Simon,
My wife and I are going to interview. How many I-134 do we need to provide? One for both of us, or one for each one?
Tnx
April 26, 2016 at 01:00
One I-134 covers you both. PLEASE start using the FAQ and the search function to answer these questions.
April 26, 2016 at 06:56
Hello my dear! Thanks for your advice for those DV winners. I have a few questions
1, I have received my visa package last week, but my sponsor came here to celebrate here wedding ceremony and she will stay here long time. I need to go to US soon therefore can I change new sponsor right now?
2,could you please tell me some webpage to find job in the US?
Thanks your advance!!
April 26, 2016 at 14:02
1. You don’t need to inform anyone of the change in sponsor.
2. USA is a big country. There are job sites (google is helpful) but unless you have a specialized profession/skills you are best to wait until you arrive.
April 26, 2016 at 05:59
If principle applicant is denied, what will happen to their derivatives? In CEAC data, eg. case 2016ASxxxx 01, 02, 03, 04 etc are seen. Is 01 principle applicant? In some case status 01 refused, 02 AP and 03 ready? Does that case have still hope or KCC did not updated as refused?
April 26, 2016 at 14:03
No hope. The embassy simply didn’t update them.

hi Salaz, am also from brazzaville but live overseas, would like to know if the brown passports are acceptable by the us embassy in Brazzaville, the brown biometric passports which was being used before the passport from CEMAC
April 26, 2016 at 21:56
Hi Lola..
the Immigration service at Brazzaville made it official since the month of February 2016 that the passport from CEMAC was not anymore valid and encouraged congolese to use the new brand of brown biometric passports. but since you live oversease, i have no idea if it may have a bad impact during your interview at the USA embassy of the current country where you live in.
But for my case since i am in Congo-Brazzaville,i have to abide to the rules to prevent myself unwelcomed situations during my interview.
April 27, 2016 at 08:01
thank you for informing me, i am scheduled to have my interview in Brazzaville reason why i was asking to get more accurate information. cheers

April 26, 2016 at 13:01
Hello
Is it advisable for one to go for interview withou Affidavit of support…will they allow you to be interviewd
April 26, 2016 at 13:52
They will conduct the interview and for some people the I-134 will not be needed – but IF the CO asks for it (or financial proof) and you do not provide it, you will be placed on AP until the information is provided. That is foolish.
April 26, 2016 at 17:25
check the following link on the state.gov website regarding supporting documentation. there is no mention of affidavit of support https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/if-you-are-selected/prepare-supporting-documents.html
April 26, 2016 at 19:38
I know. BUT that does not mean it is not required. It is a standard immigration rule (public charge) and it was described in the FAQ for the lottery (Q37 I believe). There is NO DOUBT that some cases will need it.
April 26, 2016 at 16:44

Dear brit, is there any limitation for the number of visas for any continent for example for asia? I know the maximum number of visas for each country could be 3500 and the maximum number of visas for whole world must be less than 50000 but what about asia or africa or other continents? Thanks alot

Thank u so much brit, it was so useful, but is it possible that for example before september or august the number of visas for asia ( ex 8000 visas) would be finished while for the other continents still there would be visas?

It is possible for a region to hit a max while others continue yes, but in practice KCC slows down processing to anticipate visas issued from the cases they make current.

Hi Simon,
My interview in in Montreal. I am Iranian and living in Canada for 5 years. Regarding the police certificate I found the following comment on the website of the Montreal embassy:
“Police Certificates from Canada and other countries of previous residence is required”
Does means I should travel back to Iran just for a police certificate?
I have the Canadian one, but don’t know what to do about the Iranian police certificate.
I called the embassy, but they always refer me to the website.
Any advice please?
Regards

It is very frustrating that you are not listening. You need to take responsibility for your case. You should have read the instructions linked from the 1NL. You clearly haven’t.
If you had read the instructions you would have read the link below. YOU need to read that.

Thank you.
I read this the first day after when submitting DS-260. The confusion started when I referred to Montreal embassy and saw the note that all applicant require police record from every country they lived at least for 6 months. I asked them by Email and on the phone several times and referred them to the link you provided, but they asked again me both for the interview. That’s why I asked you to be cleared about the case.
I confuse about the cases that KCC says something and Montreal says something else.
Thank you again
