People are now receiving their 2NLs for May interviews, it will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
It would be GREAT if those that received their 2NLs would add a reply to this message saying when they submitted their DS260 and their case number. That helps us understand the processing time for the DS260 and let’s us understand the backlog
Please add your first submission date, and if you unlocked please add that resubmission date and the data you changed. That is helpful for all.
Now – if you do not get your expected interview, please come back here and read updates to this page to see the feedback I will have received.

Brit, My sponser has recently move to new apartment with in a same adress.
Should i have to change the adress provided before on the ds 260? Or should i have to just inform CO at the time of interview?
I have submitted it on 1 june. And my case no is 2017AS69xx.
Will this no: be current in june or july? ( Read from your article).
You are doing great job Brit.
Time bless you!
August 29, 2016 at 16:21
Since you have so long to wait you may as well unlock the DS260 and get it accurate.

Hi Simon,
I submitted DS260 on May 23rd.Unlocked twice once on 25th May to change spouse present address and second on 2nd June for changing my present address date.
1.Is that going to effect or denial my visa interview for those changes?
2.When will I recieve second letter and wbt interview date as I re-submitted on 2ND July? Case number is AS201719##..
Hope for your kind reply.

You need to prepare your documents, and schedule your medical.
April 13, 2016 at 10:21
almost one moth beyond our interview date
April 13, 2016 at 10:20
HI dear Britsimon, we scheduled for may 9 interview but we got one problem:- my husband’s medical is scheduled after 2 months (he asked to have sputum culture which takes 2 months) which is beyond our interview date so what shall we do?
April 13, 2016 at 14:51
You will have your interviews and he will be on AP status pending the medical result.
April 13, 2016 at 02:44
Hi Simon,
My interview is in 3 weeks and I have some enquirers to make. I wrote my situation to you a few months ago regarding my case and you gave me some advice then. The gist of my situation is that I was born in Singapore but my parents are both born from Nepal, and since I am not a citizen of Singapore, i wrote the country of chargeability as Nepal. However, after consulting you, I realize that I made a mistake. Hence, you recommended that I change my chargeability or something to my parents since they are from Nepal. How do I do that in the interview? Secondly, as I was born in Singapore because my parents was temporarily in Singapore because due to my dad’s work, I need to show my dad’s work contract? Lastly, as you mentioned that since SIngapore and Nepal is both from the same region and infact, I am having a disadvantage since Nepal is being limited, it should not be a problem. Hence, how do I go on about proposing my statement during my interview? Should I open my sentence in the interview saying that I want to change my chargeability to my parents or should I only mention that if they ask me why I did not apply the chargeability country as Singapore? Is there any chance that even if they notice that I was born in Singapore from my birth certificate but they know that I am a citizen of Nepal, they may not bring the chargeability issue out? Lastly, how big of an issue is this? Is there a real chance of my visa being rejected? I am worried. Thank you.
April 13, 2016 at 03:58
You don’t bring it up unless they do. If they bring it up, you should have at the ready the proof that your father was in Singapore on a temporary basis and that was the reason for the error. Hopefully they will forgive the error. It is up to their discretion. It is a serious issue, it is possible to result in rejection – but hopefully that won’t happen in your case.
April 13, 2016 at 13:18
Thank you for your advice. Lastly, do you have any knowledge of similar cases to mine and still managed to get the visa?. Just curious. Thanks
April 13, 2016 at 14:19
Yes.
April 12, 2016 at 11:54
HI Simon,
I have a medical check up in a few days, and its uncertain yet if I will able to replace two of my already broken teeth with 2 fake teeth in time. I had done a root canal treatment on 2 of my teeth and both broke because I did not put a “cap” on it. I am planning to replace the two already broken teeth with 2 fake teeth, but I am unsure if I would able to do it within my medical check up in a few days. Will it affect my medical check up report for the visa in a negative way?. Thank you.
April 12, 2016 at 14:50
No impact at all.
April 10, 2016 at 22:28
Is advisable to go for interview at ineligible Dv lottery country for Dv visa
April 10, 2016 at 23:26
It makes no difference. You simply interview where you live.
April 10, 2016 at 19:02
Dear simon
i sent an email for US Embassy Abudahbi, which my interview located
regarding my baby
his name missing in the 2NL
but they didn’t respond, what shall i do?
April 10, 2016 at 19:07
I assume the baby was not on the original entry in October 2014 – if so that is the reason the child is not on the 2NL – it is normal.
April 10, 2016 at 19:26
My wife as well is not in the originally entry but her name came in the 2nl
Now i m not looking for his name to be add in the 2nl
I would like to know that this is normal
No need to do anything?
In the interview no problem?
April 10, 2016 at 23:29
If you filled in the DS260 for the child it should be fine.
April 6, 2016 at 09:42
Hi Brit,
We got an additional letter today, with headline “Your immigrant visa appointment – 2016EUXXXX”, confirming our interview date in May, and explaining for each family member which documents we should bring to interview.
At the end of the letter it writes in all capital letters:
attention diversıty visa applicants:
very important: because of the limited number of visas that may be issued under this program, visas may cease to be available even before this date. this is especially true the closer to september 30 an applicatıon or re-application is made.
Although the above is true in general, no chance that could happen for EU applicants, right?
April 6, 2016 at 16:33
There is normally a chance of that – but not for EU this year.
April 5, 2016 at 22:44
Hello Simon
My prediction of next cutoff won’t be above cn35200 Africa
April 6, 2016 at 00:28
Yep – that is about what I have thought…

April 5, 2016 at 19:43
Dear simon
is any sponsor’s ID required or no
such as passport or green card
April 6, 2016 at 00:31
ID and tax documents are supplied if your sponsor is completing an I-134.
April 5, 2016 at 12:14
Hi Mr Britsmon, thank you very much for the response and helpful information. I’ve got a question about 1-134 form. My sister’s fiance is american and he is willing to fill out the form 1-134 but the concern is he hasn’t lived in USA for almost 10 years. Currently he has a work in South Korea. What should we do?
April 5, 2016 at 15:24
It must be a US resident.
April 4, 2016 at 16:16
Dear Simon
Thanks a lot for the helpful tips you are offering,
i would love to know that if i moved to the US, i could leave before receiving Green Card?
My friends are there since Feb. but they didn’t get their GCs yet,
April 4, 2016 at 16:43
Yes you can do that.
April 2, 2016 at 22:46
I submitted my ds 260 november 2016,when will i get my case number
April 3, 2016 at 01:47
You already have your case number.
April 2, 2016 at 13:12
I forgot to tell you that we initially submitted the DS260 in June 2015
April 2, 2016 at 12:02
Hi I’m from Asia. My husband is a DV winner and case number is 2016AS000081xx. We have unlocked our DS-260 3 times and resubmitted them April 1st. Do you think late re-submission cause any problem in receiving 2NL?
April 2, 2016 at 14:46
No it won’t delay.
April 2, 2016 at 09:13
Hi Britsimon, could you give me response for this questions please?
me and my husband from Ethiopia married 3 years back by religion and we have one child:- my question is
1. Is religion marriage certificate accepted by the embassy ?
2. actually, we can change this marriage certificate by legal one. but the issue date of the certificate can be now. is the embassy may accept it?
we are confused to choose.
thank you for your response
April 2, 2016 at 14:49
Both methods should be OK.
April 1, 2016 at 11:52
Hi
What a kind person you are.
Alex
2016 oc xxxxx4xx
was randomly chosen with our son on May 5th 2015
We married in December
He filled out dv260 on January 23
He added me as spouse
Our child was already included
He found out March 30
That I need to fill out a dv260
Our son needs to fill one out too but he’s only 2 years old.
Interview set for May 10
In 6 weeks
Concerns:
Will my dv260 be approved by the time the interview occurs ?
Do I need high school completion or will my tertiary education see me fit?
Im an actor and have had over 60 employers and sometimes only for one hour.
Do I mention all of them?
I’m also self employed as an acting instructor. Do I write self employed?
Do we need the medical done prior to interview?
I’ve read conflicting information.
I’ve lived in many homes… Do I write everyone of them?
I’ve also had several us visas to study short courses….
Two B1/B2 visas
Do I need the many addresses I stayed at in the USA?
I sub letted a lot.
I was employed once for carnival cruise lines and again given a us visa to work but only for them.
One CD1 visa
There was no address as we were floating around the ocean.
I’m a little nervous as I thought it was just Alex that was the principal applicant and had to worry about all this history but I think I now must get my skates on and find out all of my information.
Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you kindly
H
April 1, 2016 at 18:38
Yes each of you need a DS260. That should have been done prior to the scheduling of the interview, so you (your husband) should contact the embassy as soon as possible to discuss what to do. This will probably cause a delay because when the interview was scheduled, the embassy would only have been allocated a visa slot for the DS260s they knew about (either Alex only or Alex plus 1).
To the questions (please number them in future).
Concerns:
Will my dv260 be approved by the time the interview occurs ?
As above there will probably be a delay. You should have been background checked and you needed a visa allocated.
Do I need high school completion or will my tertiary education see me fit?
You as the derivative do not need to show education documents at all.
Im an actor and have had over 60 employers and sometimes only for one hour.
Do I mention all of them?
No – You are self employed with 60 clients. Your employer is you.
I’m also self employed as an acting instructor. Do I write self employed?
Yes.
Do we need the medical done prior to interview?
I’ve read conflicting information.
There is no conflict. You are supposed to have had the medical prior to the interview (all 3 of you).
I’ve lived in many homes… Do I write everyone of them?
Significant ones. Not holiday homes, but permanent addresses. Think of it as when you would redirect mail like bank statements.
I’ve also had several us visas to study short courses….
Two B1/B2 visas
Do I need the many addresses I stayed at in the USA?
I sub letted a lot.
Yes – list them – on the same basis as above.
I was employed once for carnival cruise lines and again given a us visa to work but only for them.
One CD1 visa
There was no address as we were floating around the ocean.
Don’t list an address for that. Where were your bank statements or similar documents being sent during that time. See the point?
April 7, 2016 at 01:25
Thanks again Brit Simon
Things to note for future questions that I have recently been made aware of.
Australia
If you do not live in Sydney, where all interviews must take place, then your medical can be done on the same day as your interview or the day after.
FEDERAL Police check must be obtained NOT state police check even if you receive a NATIONAL police check certificate from your STATE office.
Panel physicians in Sydney require different things than stated on dv website
QUESTION:
1. entry status for Applicant and dependents DV260 all read as “completed”
should it read as anything else prior to the interview?
April 7, 2016 at 03:30
1. No.
Just a comment about doing the medical that late – that will cause a brief period of AP – so people should not do that if their interview is at the end of the month.
April 13, 2016 at 16:27
Hi Brit, from your comment I understand that the interview and the medical should be on the same calendar month. Can you expand a little? Thanks.
April 13, 2016 at 16:59
The medical report is supposed to be available at the interview. So – that means the medical should be done some time (a few days or more, depends on the doctor) before the interview. However, it should not be too soon, because the validity of the visa will be based on the medical date + 6 months.
April 13, 2016 at 20:27
Actually I meant the situation where the medical is done after the interview. Will it fall into AP? Why does it matter if the interview is at the end of the month?
April 13, 2016 at 20:46
It is a bad idea to do the medical after the interview. It forces the case into AP.
Now, as for the end of the month comment. When any case is scheduled just after the VB, a visa “slot” is allocated to each selectee (principal plus family). That allocation is passed to the embassy to be used or accounted for during the month of interview. At the end of the month, the embassy has to account for the visas they were allocated – and they have to return the visa slots refused or placed on AP during that month. So – if AP clears for a case in the original month of interview, the embassy still have the visa slot. Once that AP crosses into the next month, the visa is lost and once the AP closes there is an additional delay (and risk) in getting a new allocated visa slot from KCC. In the past, some cases have cleared AP BUT not received a visa because there were none left to allocate or the embassy messed up the request somehow.
April 14, 2016 at 09:56
Hmm.. That’s scary.. Just to clear, can “no visas left situation” in you last sentence apply to EU this year?
In our situation, the passport for the principal applicant is not ready, and even if does, the medical results may not catch the interview
April 14, 2016 at 15:10
EU has plenty of visas this year. Relax.
April 15, 2016 at 11:19
So, if we do the medical exams after the interview, and the AP crosses to next month, getting a new visa slot from KCC is low risk, because EU has enough visas. Right?
April 15, 2016 at 14:54
This is getting tiring. EU has enough visas, BUT there is always the risk that something goes wrong – things are not always binary. The instructions say to have the medical before the interview. Just follow the instructions!
March 31, 2016 at 21:42
Hl Mr.Britsimon, pls sir What is the maximum #N u people can put up for Every Month ? for Example This April Month what is the total #N u people will put up for an Interview for the following?

March 30, 2016 at 22:50
Hi Britsimon,
I have one question regarding the I-134 form as an affidavit of support. In the form (question 11), it asks the person if he/she intends to make any specific contributions to the support of the person being sponsored. To quote: “If you check ‘intend’, indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions. For example, if you intend to furnish room and board, state for how long and, if money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and whether it is given in a lump sum, weekly or monthly, and for how long.”
So, my question is what to fill on duration of the support. I am pretty confident that I can land a job in my profession within a reasonable period of time. But I gotta show this letter to make sure that I won’t be a public charge.
What do you suggest? [on the duration to avoid any unnecessary loopholes in the answer for this particular question]
Thank you very much!
March 30, 2016 at 23:02
It is important not to put a limit – so a statement should read something like.
“I intend to provide accommodation and financial support for as long as needed.”
March 30, 2016 at 23:30
Oh..you have already replied to me. Many thanks for the quick response!
March 30, 2016 at 23:28
I guess, I put my question in the wrong thread. Sorry!
I read one of your posts https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/ and found a sound reply. It reads as this: ” I INTEND to support the person/family named in item 3 with financial assistance as required, for as long as required”. I found this one to be satisfactory.
Thank you!
March 30, 2016 at 17:02
Sir, it’s compulsory your spouse use your last name?
March 30, 2016 at 19:12
No
March 30, 2016 at 15:17
Sorry I meant to say my official medical check up for the dv is in few days not my interview.
March 30, 2016 at 15:06
Hi Simon,
I had a medical check up few days ago in a private clinic to check up some red rashes on my thighs. It was not itchy plus i was told by the doctor it was not contagious. It’s been a few days now that I have applied the cream on my thighs. Would the U.S embassy expect me to wait until my rashes has completely gone before they provide me the visa (i.e. if they decide to) or will this have no effect on the outcome of the visa if it is not contagious and is not one of the diseases etc that they are testing for?. Thank you.
March 30, 2016 at 15:15
I forgot to mention that my interview is in few days.
March 30, 2016 at 15:29
It won’t be an issue.
March 29, 2016 at 21:24

March 29, 2016 at 20:35

Thank you
March 29, 2016 at 20:54
Yes its normal.
March 29, 2016 at 18:23
Hi MR. Brit
i have read all instruction regarding the needed documents here , i want to ask regarding the I-134 form i understand you said this is the one needed , but when i go to the ( https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/interview/prepare-for-the-interview.html ) and i downloaded the pdf file for US embassy in Amman-Jordan it says on point “”11. An original, signed affidavit of support (I-864) from the petitioner and joint
sponsor (if necessary). This item is required unless your petitioner has already
submitted an I-864 to the National Visa Center. “”
and it says for Instructions for K1 and K3 Visa Applicants that they use the I-134 form
this PDF file was Updated 1/25/2016
what is ur advise for this , is it different from country to another regarding this ?
thank you
March 29, 2016 at 21:02
It is the I-134. In EVERY country. It is a part of law – and I am 100% certain of that.
March 28, 2016 at 23:31
Hi Brit
What are the expectations visa bulletin next month?
March 28, 2016 at 17:13
Oh, and thank you very much for all the help you provide. Your blog has been truly invaluable over the past year or so.

AS6xxxx
Submitted the DS-260 on 8th May.
Unlocked it twice. In June, then in October.
The first time, to alter an address and the latter, to enter a name in the ‘Other names’ column.
My interview is on the 3rd of May.
From where does the sponsor obtain the IRS Transcript required?
March 28, 2016 at 17:44
The W2 is a tax form that every employed person received. The 1040 is the annual tax return filed by each taxpayer. That is the “IRS transcript” (and the IRS can provide a copy if needed). Every taxpayer will know how to get that info.
March 29, 2016 at 12:59

March 28, 2016 at 14:06
The number announced for May interviews is 28300 – so it is normal that you don’t have your 2NL. You will get it in a month for now for a June interview. I’m editing your CN for your privacy.
March 28, 2016 at 09:15
Hi Simon,
I received my 2nd NL, but my daughter is not in the 2nd NL. I unlocked in December 2015 and created DS 260 separately for her. I have also confirmation page for that and I also included to my case.
1. Do you think this can be a problem?
2. Why not they included?
3, Is it because of unlocking?
Thanks
March 28, 2016 at 14:07
She was probably not on the original entry – in which case that is normal.
March 28, 2016 at 09:03
Hi Brit,
I have following questions with regard to Interview and documents, appreciate if you can guide:
1. Do I need to have sponsor living at US, if so what he needs to give?
2. I have filled up my DS 260 and of my husband, Will CO take interview of me only or of my husband to. I am have won the lottery not my husband.
3. Do my parents need to go along with me at the interview ?
4. My case is from Nepal but am living in India since, last 5 years, and I visit nepal twice/thrice a year for 10-15 days. Do I need to get PCC from Nepal also?
Thank you
March 28, 2016 at 14:11
1. Possibly. Read this https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
2. Both of you
3. NO!

Hello Simon,
Pls advise on this case.
yesterday I got the court Judgement on my birth certificate (i had to go through court since I didn’t have my initial birth certificate) but the problem is that on my father’s name in the decisions they made a mistake saying it is ALLY while the name on his ID is ALI which I had put on the DS260.
I talked to my lawyer and said the president of the court said he should appeal and start a new process just to amend the father name which mifght take long as it took even 3 months to get the court decision.
Q1. is to e-mail KCC and ask them to unlock my DS260 in order to match the father name on the DS and birth certificate the best decision (my CN is 422xx)?
Q2. or I leave it as it is as it is the parent name and I will bring his copy of ID and deal with it during interview just in case the CO questions about it?
Note: the embassy is Kigali- Rwanda (last year Nairobi embassy was the embassy in charge)
Thank you

1. No because that would be incorrect!
2. Possibly this – but really – just get the document corrected – it is important for later!

KCC say the same thing to everyone. So – you can believe me or them. You’ll know the answer to that on April 13 I guess!
As for whether your number will be reached – I cannot be certain.
