People have started receiving their 2NLs for May 2017 interviews. It will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.
If you have received your 2NL – please take a moment to reply to this post and add your region/case number range PLUS the date of submission and whether you unlocked at any point. This helps me gauge the backlog and DS260 processing times. Whilst cases are mostly current, the date of DS260 submission will mean that some cases will not be scheduled for May interviews, and will wait until a later month. The progress in DS260 submissions was not as fast as I expected last month, so I am keen to see where we have got to.
**** Update ****
It seems like most DS260 submissions in up to November have made it into the May interviews. There are even a few December cases – so that represents very good progress…

Hello Brit, I submitted mine in January 2017, pls when will be the interview date Plss
April 3, 2017 at 15:00
2NL in a month or two… June or July interview
April 5, 2017 at 13:40
Hello Laura.
Yes it is mandatory for the US embassy in Caracas that you register at their visa application website. Go to web page described in the Caracas embassy instructions and register. Update your profile, including your case #. Then select DV1 as the type of visa and then select the Zoom agency in Venezuela where you would like to pick up your passport. After that save and print the confirmation page, which has a pair of code bar on it. Present this page, along with the other documents at the interview.
P.S.: I’m from Caracas also. My e-mail is [email protected] in case you have other doubts.
March 30, 2017 at 19:57
Please Tony Send your email address and I will also send my number to you so that we can talk
March 30, 2017 at 20:05
Hi Simon
I really need your help with this.. After getting the first email from the embassy with all the information in my language I received a second one in English which I don’t understand very good.
“Police Records
Available
Prison records
Unavailable.
Court Records
Available. Applicants may obtain court records (usually called “Memorandum of Conviction” in the United Kingdom), by writing to the Clerk of Court of the court (or courts) in which he or she was tried. This request must include as precise a date and place as possible”
I lived before 2years in UK and I already ask for the police records and is clean. Now I have to ask for “Memorandum of Conviction ” as well???? What is that?? Is necessary?
How I get that now if I don’t have address in UK ?
March 30, 2017 at 20:57
If you were not convicted there is nothing to get from the court. If your police cert HAD shown some conviction, the extra step would be needed.
March 30, 2017 at 20:34
Dear Simon.
Fortunately my new baby was born last week. We were 4 persons during our interview and our DS-260 is based on 4 persons. Now we are 5 persons.
On the other hand our lottery visa is under Administrative Processing.
Tell me what I can do.
Best regards
March 30, 2017 at 20:54
Contact the embassy.
March 31, 2017 at 05:16

March 31, 2017 at 06:12
It means more waiting.
March 31, 2017 at 06:17
Hi Simon,
When you write
“Register the appointment you already have if you can BUT AT LEAST create the account. The account will allow the delivery of documents. That is all you actually need.”
Are you referring to the account we just opened in this section, that is, provide name and address?
Thanks Simon amd have a great day
March 31, 2017 at 13:09
Yes. I don’t really know how far you have got with the account setup – but if they have your details then you are fine. The most important info is name, address, passport number, DS260 conf number, and case number. Do they have that in your account?
March 31, 2017 at 19:36
Hi Simon,
This morning I received an email from both the consulate and the support departiment, saying the issue was solved. And I was able to carry on the entire procedure. I guess if I hadn’t emailed three days ago probably I would still be in sort of a limbo.
But it went really well.
Thanks for your support. I will share my interview in your section.
Your job is amazing! Keep going!
March 31, 2017 at 20:39
Great news.
April 1, 2017 at 15:44

March 31, 2017 at 13:00
No need to mention.
March 31, 2017 at 08:55
Dear Britsimon
I received my 2NL on 30th of Mar.

Thanks for your usual support
March 31, 2017 at 13:00
Yes that is normal.
April 10, 2017 at 12:01
Dear Britsimon
referring to the above MSG I sent regarding the new Born child and the issue of that she is not mentioned as beneficiary in the 2Nl when i check my DS260 today i found that the form of Ds26 of my and my spouse and child status as completed but i found another column for my child and its stated not started ” peer in mind that i didn’t added 2 form for her only one ”
what do yuo think the problem is ?
is this related to the fact that she is not found in my 2NL ?
dose this can cause problem or do i have to contact the embassy ?
Please help by your advice
April 10, 2017 at 13:38
1. You obviously started another “add applicant” session.
2. No – I already told you that was normal.
3, No problem.
April 5, 2017 at 21:13
Where r u from sir?
March 31, 2017 at 10:46
Dear Brit,
I’m from Uzbekistan. I need your help and advice/opinion from your professional experience in this field on my below unhappy situation:
Being DV2017 winner (2017EU00010xxx) I got 2NL on January end as per usual time passed. Embassy interview was scheduled on 16th March, till that time I processed all needed requirements (medical etc). Closer to date of interview I got a call from them saying my interview is shifted to 30th March. Later I got to know that my interview date was anniversary holiday of embassy in Tashkent. The same interview shift was happened to my friend family as well (also DV winner), whose date was the same. Yesterday in the very morning with hope we attended our interview, unfortunately they refused visa saying that I haven’t brought my daughter for interview. I explained that when I made first intry in lottery, my daughter was single, and by the time I got 1st NL, she got married (now 20 years). When filling DS-260 form I mentioned her as “she might join on a later date, not going with us”, and left blank her DS-260 form. Sent only wife’s, son’s (19 years). Because as per my knowledge, i read that it’s not mandatory to include all children. To my friend’s family (whose interview was on the same date/time with us) they have given refusal, they also left their 22years daughter to bring interview. Also, fact that in DS-260 forms I haven’t filled my daughter’s case, but when I got 2NL, there was my daughter’s full name as well, I though maybe it was a note for later date join. I asked embassy to assist with my case, and I was ready to include/bring her, if it’s required to grant visa, but they denied saying it’s late, you should have brought your daughter as well to get visa, no matter she won’t go to US. We all feel that it’s not fair. I know Uzbekistan isn’t in the list of affected countries. Can we re-apply or complain? How? I highly appreciate if you’ll give your personal opinion on this. Also sorry taking your previous time.
March 31, 2017 at 12:54
Based on what you have said, the refusal was incorrect. There is no formal appeal process – but you can write to the embassy explaining that you feel an error has been made and could they reconsider your case. If you do that, please stick to the relevant points. MOST of what you wrote above was a waste of my time to read. Just state the facts to make sure your point is clear.
March 31, 2017 at 12:09
Dear Simon
Surprisingly I’ve received my 2NL also and thanks God. I surprised because as I told you before, kcc told me I have to wait from April 15 onward to will get my 2NL and today I’ve got it. Thank to you also for your help.

April 1, 2017 at 14:08
Hi Brit,
Case SA18XX, 2nl received in march 28th.
I have a problem, and I do not want to make a mistake, this is my situation, I submitted in November the DS260.
I have two younger daughters when I did the process, one of my daughters wanted to travel with me and the other wanted to stay some more time before migrate. For that reason, when I did the DS260 I did not include it, now I got the interview and she wants to travel with us, when I received the 2nl she is included as a beneficiary.
The question is this: Do I have to open again the DS260 and include it to her as she will be traveling with me before the interview?
Thank you.
April 1, 2017 at 14:49
You need to complete a DS260 for the child. You may need to contact the embassy if the system doesn’t let you complete the DS260. Get on with it asap.
April 1, 2017 at 20:21
Hi Simon, yes it is as you say, the system does not allow me to add her. On Monday, I will contact the embassy to see how to include her and generate the DS260. Do you think this situation has a possible solution?
April 1, 2017 at 21:21
Hi Brit
My CN AF201700041XXX
DS-260 submitted 17th Sept 2016
Never unlocked.
Interview: 4th May 2017
Thank you very much for your support!!
April 5, 2017 at 21:12
Where r u from sir?
April 2, 2017 at 00:23
Hi Simon, do you think everyone will be interviewed this year once you submit latest may 15?
April 2, 2017 at 13:49
Everyone that is current, I think so.
April 2, 2017 at 00:41
It is possible to add your child on the program and tell kcc that the child will not be going with you due to financial crisis? My wife was 9months pregnant when she played the DV at the time we were preparing for our wedding. She gave birth in November two months later we got married. It possible to add the child since he is a year old now? Or we should let it go? We are worried about our son, we really want to add him, but don’t know what will be the impact it will have on us?
April 2, 2017 at 13:48
You need to be clear. This is a Green Card to live and work in the USA – surely you want to take your son.
April 2, 2017 at 07:06
Hi Simon,
Thanks for continues support!
CN AS88xx, Submitted DS-260 in June-16, unlocked on Sep, received 2NL on 28 March for early May interview, from 6 Ban affected countries, interview location ABD.
Tried today to create applicant as per embassy instruction after registration with account and user name, and got the following system massage ” The Immigrant Visa case number provided is not ready to schedule an appointment” pls advise is this normal? also CEAC status ”In Transit”
April 2, 2017 at 13:45
Many people are having the same experience. The in transit status means the embassy has not updated their systems yet. Wait a few days, try again.
April 2, 2017 at 15:57
should i book my appointment date on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ or just go to the embassy at my interview date witn my 2nl and other docment
April 2, 2017 at 16:01
Follow whatever instructions you have been given by the embassy/KCC
April 2, 2017 at 17:10
when i try to register for my dhl service in the Official U.S. VISA information and appointment services it say my case no is not ready for an appointment. SO I CANT CRATE an account their but i have already received 2nl . what shall i do
April 2, 2017 at 17:28
You have an interview appointment. Wait a week and try again to register for the courier service You DO NOT NEED the system to give you an appointment. YOu just need to register so they have your details for the delivery of your passport after interview.
April 3, 2017 at 02:00
Hi brit I received my 2nl I realized that I made an error in sponsors name he is Tatwa Samuel Nsemanyu Ako.
But I wrote but Tatwa Ako in ds260
But all his address in u.s are all correct.
Hope this won’t be a prb in my interview sir.
April 3, 2017 at 03:31
No.
April 3, 2017 at 05:48
Hi Simon, I submitted my DS260 in November. In January I had to renew my passport, so the number is different to the one submitted in my DS260. My interview hasn’t been scheduled yet. Do i need to unlock to update the passport details, or can this be sorted once the interview is scheduled? I know that if I unlock this could delay the whole interview process.
April 3, 2017 at 13:54
Firstly, unlocking would not cause delay. But you can either unlock and correct (my preference) OR take both passports to the interview.
April 3, 2017 at 16:09
Thanks Simon. I actually received my 2NL today, so I guess that means I will need to bring both passports. Should I tell the embassy in advance?
April 3, 2017 at 16:30
No need.
To gather information let me ask you a question. Your 2NL is late arriving. Was it actually today or was it sent before and you missed it. If it was sent today – what embassy is that?
April 3, 2017 at 19:54
Late arriving – didn’t get the email until today, and have been checking the ESC site regularly. Interview is for early May in Auckland.
April 3, 2017 at 21:02
Interesting thanks.
April 3, 2017 at 07:40
Hello Brit, how are you, hope you’re fine, what is the normal process time of a case at NBC.
April 3, 2017 at 07:42
Sorry not NBC, but at NVC
April 3, 2017 at 08:17
✔April vb is upcoming soon now
Before month vb comming soon this time
#from nepal
April 3, 2017 at 13:50
The status “at NVC” does not signify any processing. KCC process DS260 submissions, if that is what you mean, and that time is now reducing to around 2 months
April 3, 2017 at 10:49
hi i already recevid my 2nl lasts week how can i register for courier service dhl in online
April 3, 2017 at 13:42
Follow instructions you have been given by the embassy/kcc
April 3, 2017 at 12:43
Hi Simon l Subumitted May 22 and resummited in June 9 and my case number is 2017AS55## and not current in April. When should I expect my 2NL please Mr Simon.I m from Nepal
April 3, 2017 at 13:42
Watch the VB. When you are current, you’ll get your 2NL.
April 3, 2017 at 17:44
Hi Simon,
I have a problem with my daughter, the problem is that in my country you are adult when you become 18 year old.
At the beginning when I did the registration for the DV lottery, I did not include my second daughter because I read only minor children, my 2nd daughter is now 21.
Now she is beneficiary but she is not in the system for complete her DS260.
At this point I do not know what to do. Do you think I will have problem during my interview?
I really need an advise. I need to know what is the best way to proceed with my situation.
April 3, 2017 at 19:40
If you left a child of under 21 years old off your initial lottery entry, you have broken an inflexible rule. Sadly you have made a terrible mistake that will cause your case to be disqualified. This is certain, it would be a waste of time and money to proceed.
April 3, 2017 at 22:02
Should I include her even if she is married and do not want to travel with us? She got married more than 2 years ago.
April 4, 2017 at 01:48
Earlier you didn’t mention she was married. An married child does not need to be listed but cannot be a beneficiary.
April 4, 2017 at 02:28
Thank you very much Simon, I wrote it because they sent me in the 2NL her name as beneficiary, for that reason I asked before how to fill her DS260 if at the first time we did not put her name in the application. Should she come with us to the embassy for the interview? or she does not need to go?
April 4, 2017 at 04:03
Honestly, your story is very confused. The 2NL normally has beneficiaries from the eDV entry – so I don’t know what parts of what you are saying are accurate. Contact the embassy and discuss it with them.
April 3, 2017 at 18:02
Hi there
I have been scheduled a May appointment. My case is OC000012XX and was submitted in September.
My spouse is Italian and has a criminal record check from 2014. He has not lived in Italy since then, but has been back for a few short trips (1 week each). Will this criminal record check be okay for the interview or do you think I need to apply for a new one?
April 3, 2017 at 19:37
I would get a new one.
April 3, 2017 at 18:26
hi my sponsor couldn’t provide Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions with deposits, cause she have none. but she is permanently employed and have an an annual income greater then the poverty guideline so can she fill the form with out bank statement.
April 3, 2017 at 19:36
In all the times I have explained what a sponsor shows as proof of INCOME, I have never listed a bank statement as an important document. They show income and tax information (1040, W2, Payslips)
April 3, 2017 at 19:09
Dear Brit. I had signed up for AOS and my case number is AF000035***. However my sponsor has told me they will no longer be able to help me with the I-134 form for financial support. I am confused now and was wondering what I can do in this case. If I proceed with my AOS case without the I-134 affidavit, will this jeopardise my chances of getting a Greencard? If yes will it be a good idea for me to change from AOS to CP instead as I will be able to go back to my home country in May?
April 3, 2017 at 19:35
Yes it could affect your case. However, switching to CP will introduce significant delay since your DS260 had not been processed (background checks are performed differently for AOS cases). It would be better to replace your sponsor.
April 3, 2017 at 19:44
Thank you for your reply.
I however doubt I will find another sponsor as I do not know many people from here who can provide the required documents for me.
1)If I do not find a sponsor and decide to go for CP, when can I get an interview judging from my case number?.
2)Also will I be able to finish the process and get the Greencard before September this year?
3)I know this is a long shot but is it possible for you to be my sponsor.
April 3, 2017 at 19:57
By significant delay, do you mean I will not be able to get my visa by September?
April 3, 2017 at 21:07
1. It won’t be based on your case number, it will be based on your DS260 submission date (as a CP case). So – if you were to switch today, you might get a July or August interview.
2. Possibly.
3. Well now I see why your other sponsor dropped out. If you ask complete strangers for sponsorship – they are likely to question themselves why they would do that. Additionally the CO could decide that a stranger would not actually provide support for you. If you don’t have a close relationship with someone, their sponsorship is useless. Take this seriously and think about what you are doing!
April 3, 2017 at 21:28
The other sponsor who had initially agreed is a professor who taught me at my university. So it seems I will have to opt for CP instead of AP. So for changing from AP to CP, do I have to email KCC and let them unlock my form? and how long do they typically take to unlock it.
Thanks for your kind help.
April 3, 2017 at 21:53
They typically take a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Hello,
I am from europe and I have the interview in May but the sponsor brought I-134 and his wife not. Is this a problem in embassy?
Can we go in interview without his wife I-134?

Dear Simon,
When I try to register in embassy website for visa pickup, except my DS-260 confirmation number and Case ID, they also ask about my Priority Date. May I know what is the Priority Date?
Thank you

Hi Mostafa , if you are from Iran let’s get in touch. [email protected]

You don’t have a priority date. That is for a different type of case.

That’s what I was thinking also. But, the website do not allow me to proceed unless I select a date as a “priority date”. I wish I could send you the screen shot of the page also.

I’m sure you can register by choosing other options.

Hi Brit. My case num is as56** and ds260 completed Aug2016 and never unlocked. I probably should mention that I am from Iran. I see here people with higher case number from Iran received their 2nl. So I am worried. Pls help. Thanks a lot.

Please check your case number. Previously you have told me several times your case was AS6XXX and one time (link below) you said AS65XX. So what is it??

Oh my god. U right. It is 65**.
April 5, 2017 at 02:18
So you are not current yet.
April 5, 2017 at 02:56
My question is why people from iran with higher case number get their 2nl?
Thanks Brit. I truly appreciate your help.

They didn’t – you are incorrect.

Dear Brit,
It’s my first time to write a question here.
My wife won DV 2017 & CN is AF00030xxx. We have a child of 8 months. We submitted DS260 on may 20 and updated on Jan 01, 2017 to include our kid. But still I couldn’t get 2NL. As I read previous comments, some guys with CN AF41xxx,AF39XXX, …& so on have got 2NL. How could it be? Did I miss any procedure sir? Anyways I read ur page everytime and I am a fan of “DV2017 all Ethiopian winners” forum.

You should realize that Ethiopians are only current up to 29100 – so your case is ready for scheduling yet.

Thx Brit. When do you think I will receive it?
April 5, 2017 at 13:50
When the number is current. Now – be patient.

Hi Simon!
Following your advice, I submitted my DS-260 today. My case is 2017EU00021***, so it just got current in April.
I’m hoping to get an interview after June, so that I can go to the US in Jan 2018 right at the end of the 6-month Visa the embassy would give me (if everything is fine), and not need to fill the Tax Form for 2017.
Do you think that will work out as planned? 🙂

Yes.
