People have started receiving their 2NLs for May 2017 interviews. It will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.
If you have received your 2NL – please take a moment to reply to this post and add your region/case number range PLUS the date of submission and whether you unlocked at any point. This helps me gauge the backlog and DS260 processing times. Whilst cases are mostly current, the date of DS260 submission will mean that some cases will not be scheduled for May interviews, and will wait until a later month. The progress in DS260 submissions was not as fast as I expected last month, so I am keen to see where we have got to.
**** Update ****
It seems like most DS260 submissions in up to November have made it into the May interviews. There are even a few December cases – so that represents very good progress…

Hello Sir, I hope you are well. I am the winner of the 2017 American Lottery from Yemen. I met in Malaysia on 1 December 2016 and so far I am still in administrative proceedings. I want you to tell me what to do
What is the longest period of administrative procedures?
May 7, 2017 at 14:31
AP can last a long time – all you can do is wait.
May 4, 2017 at 13:33
Hi Brit
Thank you for all your help. I would like to tell you about my interview experience.
I went today with my husband, I had all the documents they asked for so submitted those and was called for the interview. There were two interviewers, One was very calm and polite and the other one was quite blunt. Unfortunately we got the blunt one, He had doubts my husband and I got married after I won the lottery however we got married in 2015 and I won the lottery in 2016. Anyway finally he was convinced. The only document missing was my husbands digital birth certificate so he asked us to submit it as soon as we can. We have already requested for the certificate and will submit our passports and the birth certificate by early next week. Ill write back to you when we have the visa till than I wish you a blessed week 🙂

hi dear brit and thanks to make such a wonderful blog to help us .
i have interview on 4 may 2017 and the embassy ask me to Schedule Appointment before i attend the interview . and now in this form they asked me for priority date and i want to ask where i can find my priority date on my interview appointment ?
thanks
May 1, 2017 at 13:20
You don’t have a priority date – that is for other types of case.
May 1, 2017 at 16:18
i am a DV lottery case , and when i want to make registeration at this adress https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/updateprofile there is an option and they ask for my priority date .this form is a part of consulate requirments document .and one more question : i do not have non of my family member in us to file my I-134, Affidavit of Support . so can i make my own personal funds ? my father is ready to support me even he is not us resident . can he do it ?
May 1, 2017 at 19:07
You don’t have a priority date. If their system needs that date contact them to ask what to enter.
The I-134 has to be completed by a US resident. If you want to show personal funds you can do – but a recent large deposit needs to be explained. Read this:

Normally the passport is returned within a week or two of an approved interview. However, if your case needs AP – that can take longer.

Hi Britsimon
My interview is on 4th May Nairobi.l have a challenge below
Am currently in doha so l will be late for the medicals.since l was given an exit permit for 26th April
The principal applicant has not yet undergone the medicals since there is a huge backlog of guys waitin
Should we postpone or just appear for the interview
Kindly advise
April 23, 2017 at 15:16
Personally I would appear for the interview, and the whole case will be on hold (AP). Once the medical is submitted they will complete the case.
April 22, 2017 at 07:49
Dear.Brist

English is preferred, but may people interview in local languages.
