People have started receiving their 2NLs for November 2017 interviews. This will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
For those that received their interview notice, now is the time to start preparing for the interview. Gathering documents, scheduling the medical and so on. To learn how to prepare please view my guide on preparing for the interview.

Hi Simon,
My wife received her 2NL today, but something totally unexpected happened.
I live with my wife in the US. My wife is the DV winner. My wife and I are French citizens, but she was born in Morocco.
Using cross-chargeability, my wife entered the lottery with France as foreign state chargeability and she was selected with a EU case number.
Therefore, we expected to be interviewed in France, at the US Embassy in Paris (which is what we asked for in the DS-260 when we chose CP).
However, KCC made an appointment for us in CASABLANCA (with a EU case number???), not in Paris.
What would you do?
September 20, 2017 at 16:59
The norm when you ask for CP is to assume you will interview in your “home” country. Contact KCC. They will probably tell you they can’t change it – and to change it you would have to contact Morocco and Parios embassies, and you can expect to experience a delay for that. Morocco is a nice place in November, just remember you need to be there long enough before the interview to have the medical, and long enough after the interview to get your passports back. That means a trip of around 3 weeks.
September 20, 2017 at 21:37
Thanks Simon. I agree, Morocco is a great place to be in November, but if my case goes into AP it could be a problem for us to stay there for more than 3 weeks as opposed to France where we have family…
September 20, 2017 at 21:44
OK – then try and move it to France.
September 20, 2017 at 16:19
Should ALL current cases for November expect to receive 2NL this month? Should KCC be contacted if a 2NL for a current case isn’t received by September 30?
September 20, 2017 at 17:01
No. Some cases will be current but won’t get a 2NL. DS260 processing varies.
September 20, 2017 at 18:01
Is there a guideline as to at what point an applicant should consider there may be an administrative problem and follow up? Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere.
September 20, 2017 at 18:36
No. You just wait. Waiting is normal in this process.
September 20, 2017 at 16:54
hi brit, i submitted my ds260 in june 29th and received my 2nl today. No words to explain how much you helping others. thanks alot.
September 20, 2017 at 17:07
Hello Brit, I want to take this time to happily informed u that I just received my letter. Thanks ever so much for keeping me updated.
September 20, 2017 at 17:29
Hi Brit, received an email to check the status, however, it is not recognizing the confirmation number. Getting the following message: “Invalid Confirmation Number: Please enter the correct confirmation number that is 16 characters long (example: 20181O0DZWY3DOV9)”. My confirmation has only 14 characters… 2018EUXXXXXXX8. Should I wait? please advise
September 20, 2017 at 17:48
No, you should not wait. You should re-read the instructions. It is the CONFIRMATION number they want, not the case number.
September 20, 2017 at 17:54
Hi Brit. I just figured out how to access. The confirmation requested was the very first one when applied. Thank you for all your help! You are the best
September 20, 2017 at 18:07
My mom received today her 2NL, she submitted her ds260 on July 12. 2018SA2XX.. She was born in one SA country but she is residing in other SA country. The interview will be at the consular office of the country where she is living at now.
September 20, 2017 at 19:39
Hi, I’m from SA. Your mom case is SA2XX or SA2XXX? Thanks for the answer!
September 21, 2017 at 00:07
SA2XX, That’s the reason she received 2NL already.
September 20, 2017 at 18:13
Hello Brit
I received the 2 NL for November and I have a university license passed in August 2018 please, what can I do – what I can ask the embassy to delay my appointment for a month.
Thank you
September 20, 2017 at 18:22
Hello BRIT
sorry i am a stressor on my message i got soaked
I wanted to say that I have my bac And I pass my license in May 2018
thank you for your reply
September 20, 2017 at 18:35
Again, you are not being clear. If you don’t meet the requirement now (and I don’t know if that is true), delaying a month won’t help. You would have to delay past May – and that would be risky.
SO – do you meet the requirement without the license you will pass in a few months time???
September 20, 2017 at 19:18
HI Brit, my case number 2018AF90xx And i submitted ds260 form on the 30th may and i was confirmed. September 20, 2017 at 18:13

September 20, 2017 at 18:14
My case no eu38xx.
September 20, 2017 at 18:34
He Brit please let me know your advise !! I’ve called Kentucky and they told me that your status is that they are scheduling your interview on the November so you should take the 2NL until end of this month. But you’re saying it takes a couple of days. So do you think that I’m gonna get it ?
September 20, 2017 at 18:33
You will wait until you get the 2NL. Patience.
September 20, 2017 at 18:53

Hi Simon, on affidavit of support i-134 there is a part saying ;”’I have submitted a visa petition to U.S Citizenship and Imigration Services on behalf of the following persons”
1.Does that mean that he should write all the person he submitted a visa petition( parents, brothers and sisters)
2. The persons he submitted visa pettion shoul be calculated in this moment on his income? because he submited a visa petiton for his brother 5 years ago
September 20, 2017 at 20:25
And sth else
3.he made petition for his parents but now they are usa citizien..should he write his names?
Plz help
September 20, 2017 at 21:48
Yes.
Honesty isn’t optional.
September 20, 2017 at 21:48
1. Yes
2. Since that is long ago they might not take that support into account.
September 21, 2017 at 06:53
Do you think i should find another sponsor? Or continue with this one?
September 21, 2017 at 13:23
Your choice
September 21, 2017 at 15:17
Do you consider this risky? I dont understand if he made viza petition for his brother he will be calculated on my sponsor income, even it will take more than 8 years for him to come to usa?
September 21, 2017 at 15:43
I can’t quantify the risk.
September 20, 2017 at 21:28
Hi Brit,
I got some worries here, though its still early ,my case number is 2018AF41803, I WILL BE invited for interview or should forget and enter DV2019? I submitted my ds260 on 02/06/2017
September 20, 2017 at 21:46
Safe number ranges here: https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-selectee-numbers-published/
But no harm in enteringDV2019 anyway.
September 21, 2017 at 08:44
Thanks so much Brit, I spent some great deal of time carefully reading and I discovered that AF45000 IS safe numbers range and my case is AF41803, I think I still got a chance of being invited for an interview, I trust and believe God Almighty , He won’t led me down, but Also thank you very much for your clarification, I think I should not worry anymore I won’t enter 2019 dv.
September 20, 2017 at 22:13

September 21, 2017 at 00:33
Hi Brit, thanks for all the support.
I got my 2NL today. Case number is 2018AF55XX and interview is in Accra on Nov 8.
There’s no mention of I-134 Affidavit of Support as part of documents to get ready for interview.
Would you advise I still ask my host to get it for me? Me n my wife n 2 little kids make a family of 4.
Many thanks.
September 21, 2017 at 02:21
Accra is most concerned with hosts, but if this was my case I would get an I-134.
September 21, 2017 at 20:35
Thanks Brit. I’m most grateful.
September 21, 2017 at 02:57
Hi Simon, Thank you so much for all your support !
I am an EDV 2018 beneficiery from Nepal and I have just received the 2NL for November 2017.
1. Currently, I am working in a Chinese company in China, which also has branch offices in the US. My company is positive on offering me an Internal Transfer Letter to the US branch.
During the visa interview, will this letter boost my chances of getting the visa or be counter-productive ?
2. After a successful interview, how long will the embassy keep our passport to issue a visa ?
September 21, 2017 at 04:37
1. It won’t harm your case.
2. 1 to 2 weeks
September 21, 2017 at 04:11
Hello brut
I received 2nl today, thanks to ur great support
In my ds260, tye address where I will stay isn’t where I wanna be again once i enter the USA. I wanna ask, what do I tell the CO if they ask me where will u stay once u enter the USA?
Should I give the new address n reason y I won’t stay at the original address?
September 21, 2017 at 18:08
The address you give in the DS260 is where your GC will be sent. You can update that at the arrival airport, but that is your last chance to update it. You live wherever you want.
September 21, 2017 at 08:24

You noted that for DV 2018 that high case number in AF is 49000 ,Does this mean that my case number 47xxx is safe?can you prove so? Thank you.
September 21, 2017 at 13:08
No, I have noted that the highest case number of selectees is higher than that. I commented on safe ranges here – https://britsimonsays.com/dv2018-selectee-numbers-published/
September 21, 2017 at 12:11
Hi Brit. I have a question about the sponsor. So, if I am already in US and I marry someone, and now about to apply at labor department To find a job would that affect my sponsor?! Thank you!
September 21, 2017 at 13:06

September 21, 2017 at 13:31

Iam greatful to God and a million thanks to you Brit. case no: 2018AF30XX and got my 2NL and all beneficiaries included. My wife name on DS260 is FATMATA GIFTY MAMEDI KAMARA but on 2NL it is address as FATMATA GIFTY KAMARA. Hope it is OK sir.
September 21, 2017 at 14:43
Yes
September 21, 2017 at 14:57
Hi Brit,
CN 2018AF77XX. Still not received 2NL, DS260 was submitted on July 5. I just called KCC and they told me DS260 is still being processed. Will probably be scheduled for December.
I thought that according to changes of DS260 processing this year, it will be more faster. But, i put all that under slowness of background checks responses from home country, eventhough my wife and i spent half of our life there and the other half in US and Europe.
September 21, 2017 at 15:45
As I have said many times – processing times for DS260s vary from case to case.
September 21, 2017 at 15:14
If my sponsor has completed i-134 for other persons long time ago should this be delcared in his wife i 134 or only on his affidiv of support?
September 21, 2017 at 15:44
You need to use your own judgement.
September 21, 2017 at 17:45
Hi there Brit
I asked a question above
and u haven’t answered.
Pls do clarify me
September 21, 2017 at 19:18
Hi Brit I got such a answer from kcc upon my request when I’ll get the 2NL. What do you think about it ?
Thank you for your inquiry.
An interview for this case has been scheduled at the American Consulate/Embassy of Ankara on November 7, 2017. You will receive a notification letter by email within the next 7-10 days, from [email protected]. Within 3-5 days of receiving the letter,
September 21, 2017 at 19:35
What do I think about what?
September 21, 2017 at 20:04
Well I mean you said that 2NL are sent about hours or a couple of days. But now it’s telling me to wait about 10 days. I got confused that’s why asking your opinion. Thank you for your tremendous help.
September 21, 2017 at 20:25
There might be something different with how that embassy allows KCC to schedule – but it doesn’t matter.
September 21, 2017 at 22:19
Dear Brit, iam DV 2018 winner from Ethiopia.
– Case Number:2018AF00006XXX
i was fill DS260 form in 23/6/2017 but up to know i did not receive 2LN. know i would like to know,
1. in wich month i will receive my 2NLs?
2 is there any impact in my process with regards to contacting KCC to gate answer for the first qustion through email account?
If i gate this information, it helps me to prepare necessary documents in time.
September 21, 2017 at 22:46
1. You can obnly receive your 2NL when your number is current. It is not current yet, so you will wait another month or two.
2. It’s just a waste of their time. Exercise some patience.
September 22, 2017 at 07:18
Thank you so much for all your support!
September 21, 2017 at 22:21
Hello Britsimon,
I submitted DS-260 and got the confirmation email from KCC. The submission confirmation PDF file indicates that
Next Steps All Diversity Visa applicants must: 1. Obtain required supporting civil documents. 2. Obtain photographs that meet the Department of State’s visa requirements. 3. Contact your local USCIS Field Office for further information about booking an appointment.
I understand I need to wait for the case numbers to be current before submitting further documents. At the same time, do I still need to contact USCIS about the application? What shall I do next? Please advise.
Gratefully appreciate your help,
B

Are you in America ale and planning to adjust status?
September 22, 2017 at 11:44
Yes in America, and yes, adjust status.
September 22, 2017 at 13:58

September 22, 2017 at 07:54
Dear Brit,
1. I got the 2NL, and the status of DS260 still at KCC is this ok or it should be changed after few days.
2. The local embassy procedures request to register my scheduled appointment, but when i am on the web site there is only one option which is to schedule ur appointment which includes determining your documents delivered back address , but when finalize the final step which asks for IV case ID it says your IV case number is not found please try again later, do u have any idea about this, Moreover is it related to the above that DS260 status still at KCC.
It is Amman Embassy u can see the additional embassy requirements file
Thanks a lot,
September 22, 2017 at 14:07
1. It doesn’t matter.
2. You need to work this out – I do not know all the various systems used in all the embassies.
September 22, 2017 at 14:37
Thank you, i will check with embassy support email.
Your efforts is highly appreciated
September 22, 2017 at 15:44
Hi Brit, I got an e mail from noreply e mail address and telling me to check out the dvlottery.state.gov to see the updates. I’ve checked but nothing. Is that normal ?
September 22, 2017 at 16:24
Wait a few hours.
September 22, 2017 at 17:03
Hi Simon. We have our DV2018 appoitment in Octuber. I have a doubt. My wife who is the selected applicant is dual national. She was selected for her spain nationality but she only was born there she never has lived in spain in fact She never has been there in her whole life after she was born. She has the police certificate of the country she has lived her whole life. My question is Does she need a spain police certificate?.
September 22, 2017 at 17:38
If she has not resided in Spain for more than 6 months, she does not need a police cert.
September 22, 2017 at 19:39
I got the 2NL. You’re the greatest Brit. Thanxxx
September 23, 2017 at 00:33
hi I got selected . I submitted my DS260 form. Every thing is fine but my passport has my husbands sir name and other documents have my maiden name . Please help me what should i do. will it be fine in the interview if I just show them my married certificate since if I change my ds260 than other documents will not match with my name. iam confused please help me.
September 23, 2017 at 01:18
That is normal. Relax.
September 23, 2017 at 07:00
Thanks Brit. Your answer really made me relaxed. God bless you for the great help you are providing to ease peoples mind. So I will not open my Ds260 to change anything. Thanks once again.
September 23, 2017 at 10:14
Hi .we have filled out our DS 260. My wife is the main winner. I made a mistake in the question on ds260 where it says do you know any other language other than your native. I wrote NO but I know English. Is it necessary for me to unlock ds260 or it will be fine.
2. We also have the same problem as the above person but my wife filled her ds260 with her maiden name and passport doesn’t have her maiden name at all and have my sir name. I mean her first name ,second name and my sir name do we need to change the ds260 in anyway.
Please clear our doubt and I apologize if this is like the same question as above. I mean her madien name is not in the passport. All the information filled in the Ds260 is in her madien name.
September 23, 2017 at 14:08
1. No problem, no need to unlock
2. Unlock and add her maiden name (as shown on the birth cert)
September 23, 2017 at 11:22
HI SIMON. greetings. i just recived my 2nl but there is no directions to register my appointment.

2. Wait a few days.
September 23, 2017 at 18:24
Hello Brit, do we need a criminal record from the countries we have lived over 6 months or over one year?
September 23, 2017 at 18:43
For country of nationality, or country of current residence – 6 months. For countries you lived at before – 12 months.
September 25, 2017 at 02:58
I lived in Bolivia for two years, BUT when I arrived there I was 14 and when I left I was 16 and 2 months. Do I need one from there? Because I did live there for more than 12 months and when I turned 16 I was still living there. However, I only lived there two months after I turned 16. I’m confused…
September 25, 2017 at 04:37
Stop procrastinating – get one from there.
September 23, 2017 at 18:51
We submitted in May, when do you think we will get a response from KCC about our interview date?

Sorry sir i mean the Ds260 has the madien name. But the passport doesn’t. .so it will be a problem. Ds260 is fine with everything in madien name. I can’t do much with the passport. So your advice will be highly appreciated. Is there any thing can be done or is it wrong in someway. Please sir assist
September 23, 2017 at 22:57

September 24, 2017 at 12:21
Dear Simon,
I am a DV2018 winner with CN EU9XXX.
I submitted my DS260 in July and am waiting for my case to be current.
One curious thing: When I am on https://ceac.state.gov/IV/IVSummary and see my application, it says “The iV application have been submited for this application, it will be reviewed once your civil documents have been submitted”.
Does it mean that I have to send somebody some documents?
The only documents they asked was the certificate of marriage.
I can’t see anywhere where I can upload some files. I thought the documents were to bring at the interview.
Thanks a lot
September 24, 2017 at 14:11
No documents are uploaded.
September 24, 2017 at 20:46
I am not sure to understand.
That means I don’t have anymore thing to do but wait and bring my documents to the interview?
September 25, 2017 at 04:45
Correct
September 24, 2017 at 17:35

September 25, 2017 at 13:27
You cannot apply with your fiancee, you must be married in order to take him/her
September 25, 2017 at 09:16
Hello and thank you for all your efforts to help people. I understand the huge amount of work it takes and I admire your patience with some of the repetetive questions.
Now, I am a selectee for DV2018 (EU7XXX) and I have made a mistake on my original application which I corrected in my DS260 form but I just wan’t to make sure it won’t haunt me going forward.
In my passport and in my DS260 my name is written Middle Name – First Name but it’s the other way around in my original application. First Name – Middle Name.
I hope that it won’t be an issue since I corrected it in my DS260 but I would like some confirmation if you have any experience with this.
Thank you.

Your passport and birth cert should show your legal version of the name. In some countries people have a first name that they do not use (like Maria Carmen). In those cases the Maria is often a religious/family tradition name and the person goes by the “middle” name (Carmen in my example). In that case, for legal paperwork, the Maria Carmen should be entered in that order. Maria in my example *is* the legal name. So – if your situation is similar, your name on the DS260 should match your passport order. If it does not, unlock and correct it.
