People are now receiving their 2NLs for September interviews, it will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
These interviews are the final batch of 2016. If any DV2016 winner does not get their 2NL within a day or two they need to contact KCC asap and check why they have not been scheduled.

Hello brotsimon sir, is there anything to worry after getting visa? Can anything happen in the port of entry?
January 8, 2018 at 16:09
*BritSimon sir
January 8, 2018 at 16:50
No, that is not really a concern.
July 26, 2017 at 06:09
Hi Simon, I went for an interview in Cameroon and the consular asked me to bring non conviction letter from Malaysia where I studied the university level there. and for my high school it is need a verification from my country Chad.
1-Do I have a chance to get a visa because the police certificate will take one to two months?
2-I am planing to travel somewhere after 3 weeks. .it is OK if I withdraw my passport from the embassy?
3-where to check my status?
Thanks for your time.
July 26, 2017 at 19:31
1. You only have until the end of September so it is a great pity you did not prepare properly. Timing will be tight.
2. It is OK, BUT it can introduce additional delay later – so it is up to you.
3. You are on AP, waiting for you to supply the police report you failed to supply – so it is up to you! There is no need to check your status.
October 27, 2016 at 20:06
Sorry sr. Simon, is a curiosity, why, if there were 3000 winners in the dv2016 for South America, the highest number case was the 1467? I’m confused because I understand that if there are 3000 winners, since 3000 there will be cases independently numbers they reach interview? very grateful for your clarification
October 27, 2016 at 20:34
Each case number includes the selectee and each derivative. Those derivatives are included in the 3000 number.
September 26, 2016 at 09:01
I’m confused, I understand that all participants who followed below “current” after 1350 were called to interview between August-September 2016, for example 1500?
September 26, 2016 at 13:58
THe highest case number assigned in SA2016 was 1467. So yes – the numbers between 1350 and 1467 went current.
September 25, 2016 at 16:36
Incredible, I knew that I was selected the 06 spetiembre for DV2017, a few days ago I found your web site, so I was watching previous years, thought I had not a good chance to have a high number 17XX, its clarification give me hopes.
September 25, 2016 at 11:25
Good day Mr, Simon:
The status “current” means that all dv2016 were called to interviews in all regions? by September SA region had not yet reached all visas available?
Thanks.
September 25, 2016 at 13:41
Correct.
September 9, 2016 at 13:31
Hi Simon,
I have a couple of questions regarding what follows after the interview:
1) I have to pay the USCIS fees to receive the green card. Is that right? When should I pay them? As soon as I receive the passport and before I enter the US?
2)It says on the website that I must hand carry the X-Rays with me. Do they mean the cd I wa sgiven when I attended the interview? Or are there any X-rays returned to me along with the passport?
Thank you very much!
September 9, 2016 at 14:35
1. Shortly before you travel.
2. The CD.
September 10, 2016 at 23:07
Thank you ! I was wondering though, at the port of entry, should I queue on the “residents’ ” queue or the “all other visas” queue? Thanks
September 11, 2016 at 03:37
First entry the “others”. Adter you are a resident you can use the Citizens and residents line.
September 20, 2016 at 15:07
Hi Simon, thank you for the information. I passed my interview successfuly and in the morning I accessed the ceac website which said AP due to a missing paper that I sent to the embassy already. Now I am trying to access it and it says An unexpected error has occurred while processing your previous request. The error has been reported to the site administrator; no further action is required.
I tried to check what happens with my DS260 and there it says that my case number doesn’t match any of their records. I am not sure what is happening. Should I get worried? Thank you
September 20, 2016 at 15:11
No, just relax. Watching a kettle doesn’t make it boil any faster.
September 6, 2016 at 05:17
Hi Mr Simon. We arrived in USA on 31st of August. When we checked our I -91form online it says not found. We need it to get our driver license.
When do you think it will be available? Or it should have been there already? We are dv winners of 2016
September 6, 2016 at 15:21
I have no idea what form you are trying to obtain.
August 30, 2016 at 22:57
HELLO SIR I HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE POLICE RECORDS I READ THIS:
When Does the Applicant Need a Police Certificate
IF the applicant…
AND…
THEN the applicant needs a police certificate from…
is living in their country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months
is 16 years old or older
the police authorities of that locality.
lived in a different part of their country of nationality for more than 6 months
was 16 years or older at that time
the police authorities of that locality.
lived in a different country for more than 12 months
was 16 years or older at that time
the police authorities of that locality.
was arrested for any reason, regardless of how long they lived
I AM FROM CAMEROON WHERE I LIVED IN SEVERAL TOWNS FOR MORE THAN 6 MONTHS AND NOW I LIVE IN TUNISIA SO MY QUESTIONS ARE
1 AM I GOING TO ASK FOR POLICE RECORDS FROM EACH POLICE AUTHORITY OF EVERY LOCALITY WERE I LIVED IN CAMEROON AFTER 16 YEARS OLD?
2 IT IS SAID A POLICE RECORD IS NECCESSARY IF YOU HAVE LIVED IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY FOR MORE THAN 12 MONTHS BUT I WILL BE 12 MONTHS OLD IN TUNISIA ON THE 23 OF SEPTEMBER SO I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN ASK FOR THE TUNISIAN POLICE RECORD NOW
August 31, 2016 at 00:13
1. Possibly – it depends on the system in Cameroon. Check the dvselectee site for instructions
2. Yes.
August 29, 2016 at 23:24
Hi Simon, I have received my 2NL a couple of days ago with the interview planned on the 7th. I am currently visiting family in the US so that means that I have to leave asap back to the UK, do my medical tests and attend the interview. I am worried that the medical tests won’t arrive on time for the interview though! Would the embassy change my appointment if I called them and explained the situation? Thank you very much.
August 29, 2016 at 23:34
It is much safer to have the interview as planned and follow up with the medicals if necessary.
August 29, 2016 at 23:39
WIll the embassy accept this? The reason I ask is because in their website they state that: If the medical report has not been received by the time of the interview, the application will be refused pending receipt. In this case, does that mean that they would plan a new interview date for me? Thank you!
August 29, 2016 at 23:56
“Refused pending receipt” is the exactly what I would expect – its the safest approach. It is a 221(g) “refusal” which will not really be a refusal at all in – it will simply mean you have time to provide the report. A short time, so don’t hang around.
August 26, 2016 at 20:22
my no. 2017AF00002XXX. submitted D.S-260 on July 30th. When is it likely for me to receive 2NL sir.

Hi Simon, I have a question about the qualifications that we need to present to the interview. Do we have to present the highest qualification e.g. my PhD or the high school graduatiion certificate? Or do wr have to present all qualifications from high school to PhD? Thank you in advance!
August 26, 2016 at 00:35
Present them all.
August 26, 2016 at 01:03
Thank you! Just a couple of questions: 1) RE transltions of documents, can I translate the documents personally? Am I allowed to do the translatiins myself or do I have to take them to a translating office? 2) what is the average waiting time after the interview for the embassy to return the passport?
August 26, 2016 at 04:07
1. You cannot do it yourself – it must be a competent third party (not necessarily a professional translator).
2. 1 to 2 weeks.
August 25, 2016 at 12:42
@Britsimon just thought i would update you, my friend finally got that much awaited second notification today.I am happy for my friend after much calling, emailing. Luck and Grace must have been on her side. am so happy for her.

Hi Simon Long story – need your advice. I got my passport with visa stamp and was given to me without the sealed packet reason I have to re -do my medicals. Can I book tickets for my flight for Sept journey. Dr Said that my medicals will be ready this Thursday and embassy told me to come this Friday . My doubt is can I book my tickets since the price is sky rocketing now
August 22, 2016 at 18:41
It’s risky – I can’t advise you what to do.
August 25, 2016 at 23:00
Hi Brit I got my packet and the visa as-well. Finally am a permanent resident. However please advice any srilankans brothers and sisters through your blog that not to be dishearten if they don’t have A/Levels they can still apply with Bachelor/Master degree. Professional Qualifications are not accepted. Interview is simple not even 2 minutes.
Thanks for all your help Briton in highlighting us all the loop holes involved in this process. May god Bless
August 25, 2016 at 23:54
Congratulations.
August 26, 2016 at 18:06
Thanks Brit , however the sealed packet which they gave me, to whom should I hand over? Because I am heading to Missouri. However there is no direct flight to Missouri, I have to land first in Chicago and then head to Missouri. So should I hand over the sealed packet to Chicago authorities or Missouri Authorities?
August 26, 2016 at 20:51
Border control staff in Chicago.
August 22, 2016 at 10:08

August 19, 2016 at 13:11
Hello Sir,
My interview is scheduled for next week, in Cameroon. I got my police record for UK and it shows no live trace. Do I need to apply for Subject Access disclosures from the Police National Computer (PNC), for details for any offences or warnings. All I can remember is parking tickets. Researching on the ACRO website says it can take up to 40days to process.
August 19, 2016 at 17:23
I would certainly do that if I were you. The UK laws about how long to list an offence are different to the US – so they may ask for further detail. You would be entitled to refuse if the interview was held in the UK – But of course that would not go down well with the US embassy who are just as entitled to assume what they want and deny you a visa. So – full disclosure is the best idea.
August 19, 2016 at 12:52
Hello brit thank you very much for your valuable info and experience , I had my interview on 10th August , the co has given me a pink letter on AP , up to that my case has been updated 3 times of 16, 17th an today but still AP what does that mean , do I expect soon issued or ….. or this is the way of the AP process.
August 19, 2016 at 17:26
People try to infer meaning from the updates – but there is no magic number or sequence of updates that can be translated into understanding when the case will be decided. All you can do is wait.
August 28, 2016 at 12:29
my visa apprroved on and i have also recieved the visa , thanks brit , i also wanted to stay 2 months in to clear my work and prepare some money since the dv is self sponsorship , my question is can i apply now the green card while i m still yet to travel to USA.
Really i cant measure my appreciation to you , i have million thanks to you brit and your doughter
August 28, 2016 at 14:34
You “apply” for the GC by entering the USA (which must be before the visa expiry date). You can’t get the GC prior to entering the USA, you can’t start that early.
August 29, 2016 at 05:12
Thank you brit , well noted.
August 17, 2016 at 12:53
Hello Mr.Brits i passed my interview last week (8 august) the CO told me that my visa will be approved within 15 days after two days exactly the 11 august 2016 my statut updated to ready and updated today 17 august 2016 but still ready

August 15, 2016 at 00:11
I was scheduled for interview appointment for my DV 2016 case on 9th August whish I missed. And now there are ni dates for rescheduling can I transfer my case to another country for consideration? I asked before 9th but I was told to wait until after I am afraid of loosing my chance.
August 15, 2016 at 13:27
Your chance was August 9th. Very foolish to miss a life changing appointment!! Whether they reschedule you or not I don’t know.
August 18, 2016 at 09:25
Hey Sir,
We was place under AP due to the lack of child ds260. After two months plus, we called twice n received email on the day of our last call given us new appointment to summit the child ds260 n our passports. Are we gonna get visas? Is it another interview? And what really gonna happen, am so CONCERN. THANKS
August 18, 2016 at 14:00
I can’t predict what will happen. I help people follow the instructions and turn up for the interview prepared. When people don’t do that, I cannot predict the results.
August 23, 2016 at 05:27
Praise be to Allah and thanks Brit for your help , My case has changed from AP to Issue , i will share my interview experience soon.
August 23, 2016 at 05:42
Nice!
August 14, 2016 at 10:12
I still haven’t received my second notification letter i filled my ds 260 abit late, but i had a pretty high case no, in late may 2016.I emailed KCC to ask about it, but the response given was this..
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and pending further embassy
review for the continuation of your visa processing.
Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers
that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2016
program will begin in October 2015 and conclude on September
30, 2016. Please refer to the visa bulletin at
http://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being
processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of
each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you
will receive notification via email to
checkhttp://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
Interviews for the DV 2016 program will began in October
2015 and will conclude on September 30, 2016. KCC cannot
provide information as to when an interview date may become
available for your case. Interviews are scheduled
numerically according to assigned case numbers which have
completed processing. The Department of State designates
how many interviews will be scheduled each month according
to visa availability. You may refer to the visa bulletin
at http://www.travel.state.gov for the list of current numbers.
This information is updated on the 15th day of each month
thereafter.
This seems like a generic mail to me because I asked specific things to my case but I got the same response twice. What is your take on this?Do you think i still have a chance or am i too late?
August 14, 2016 at 14:57
You should call them. Honestly – I think you missed your chance because of the late submission – it must have been very late in May, as I know other cases submitted after that time that did get processed in time. However, if your case was more difficult to process (because of country history) that would cause your case to take longer to process.
So – call KCC, and see if they might schedule your case, but I would not be surprised if you don’t get an interview.
August 13, 2016 at 10:02
How can I know if my case that has been in administrative processing is updated , is it because of the changes of data? If the case number that has been in administrative processing becomes to issue what does that mean?
August 13, 2016 at 13:44
Changing to ISSUED means the AP is finished and the case has been approved.
August 12, 2016 at 16:40
How can if can i know if my case that showed , has also been updated ?
August 12, 2016 at 17:07
I don’t understand your question.
August 12, 2016 at 10:39
Hae Brit ,I attended my interview on 2nd August of this month,I was put on Ap whereby the consular told me to tell the examination body of our country Kenya to send a confidential report of my results. This morning I received a call from the embassy telling me to send my passport thru Dhl as they had received the results. Is this a good sign or are they going to take long to issue me With a visa? my status still reads Ap but it has updated today and yesterday.is there hope?
August 12, 2016 at 14:24
It’s a good sign.
