2NLs are starting to be sent for February interviews (DV2020). Please note – I am saying STARTING to be sent, some 2NLs will be sent right up until the end of the month.
Please also understand that 2NLs are only sent to cases which are current, had submitted their DS260 so that processing has been completed on that AND they have sent their documents some time ago (before the beginning of this month). If someone only sent their documents in the last week or two, that was probably not in enough time to get on the list to be scheduled this month.
Some people previously got 2NL emails but then had to wait days or even a couple of weeks before the interview letter showed on the ESC page. Other people waited until the beginning of the following month to get their 2NLs and ESC page update. So – be patient, stay calm. Some physicians won’t schedule the medicals unless you have the 2NL in hand, BUT there is plenty of time before these interviews, no need to stress out!
VERY IMPORTANT. 2NLs will be sent during the remainder of the month. If you do not get yours today – no need to freak out, just wait. There is no need to ask me or anyone else about specific regions or countries, assume any country or region could have 2NLs as late as the last day of the month (last day in the USA, not where you live).
Also, you will not get the 2NL if you have not submitted your DS260 AND your documents to KCC AND your case number is not current (lower than the VB number for your region). If ANY of those three things are not true you will not get the 2NL, and there is no need to ask me about that – it should be clear (especially as I have repeated this information many times before and a couple of times in this article).
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details. You log in to the ESC page with your original confirmation code (from when you entered the lottery.
If you want to know more about the 2NL – you can watch this video

They are referring to your documents. Have you been asked for documents and did you send them?
December 21, 2019 at 01:50
No, I did not send my documents, and I have not been asked about them yet
December 21, 2019 at 02:01
Then you should contact KCC. You cannot be scheduled until you have provided those documents. This means that you cannot be scheduled for February – and your interview will be in a later month.

Hello Simon,
I have been advised(by a lawyer) to renew my passport which will expire on Jan2021. My case no. Is EU13xxx,i assume I will be scheduled for the interview on March. Is it necessary to renew the passport, as by the time of interview my passport will be available for less then one year? If yes, do I need to unlock the ds260 or simple I can inform the embassy for having a new passport on the date of interview? Thanks a lot for your utmost support.
Milena.
December 23, 2019 at 18:08
It is not necessary to renew. If you do, take old and new passports to the interview.
December 23, 2019 at 23:30
Hello brit,
My CN is AF23xxx(current for feb VB) , i sent my documents since october, and get the automated reply from KCC, but today have received another email ,that says” Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing”
So my question is
1. does this indicate that, i wil be soon receiving 2NL?
2.And if so, how much time it takes to receive the 2NL after receiving such an email from KCC.
December 23, 2019 at 23:42
Because they only just sent this email it might mean they are only just ready to schedule you. In that case you would get a 2NL in January for a March interview.
December 24, 2019 at 13:56
Hi Brit,
My case number is 2020AS00011xxx & it is current now. But I submitted civil documents on 11 DEC & received confirmation message called “Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation” on 17 DEC. Am I late? Will I receive 2NL at end of DEC? By the way, does KCC send 2NL exactly before 30th or 31st of each month? Would they send 2NL after end of a month, let say first or second week of next following month?
December 24, 2019 at 15:39
You were too late to be scheduled in December. So you will get a January 2NL for March interview.
December 28, 2019 at 05:04
Hello Mr. Brit, My one of friends has same problem. Also His case number is 2020AS00010xxx & it is current now. He has submitted civil documents and DS 260 on 08th November & received confirmation message called “Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all required documentation” on 12 DEC. Will he receive 2NL at end of DECEMBER ? Would they send 2NL after end of a month, let say first or second week of next following month? Same problem he has. Kindly let me tell something According to your knowledge. Then i can update him. Thank you.
December 28, 2019 at 21:10
If he missed the December batch then he would get in the January batch forMarch interviews.
December 29, 2019 at 02:13

December 24, 2019 at 19:23

December 24, 2019 at 19:52
No need to unlock. Relax.
December 25, 2019 at 00:15
Dear Brit,

December 26, 2019 at 19:09
Yes you can do that.
December 26, 2019 at 07:37
Dear Brit,
My permanent address is ‘A’ from my birth.
I had been working from 2007-2013 at Company 01. Then I had been stayed in HOSTEL of company 01 during the 2007-2013. Hostel address is ‘B’
After I have been working during 2013- to date at company 02. Then I stay in BOARDING HOUSE from 2013-to date. The boarding house address is ‘C’.
I got married in January 2019. My wife has been living from birth to present in address ‘D’
Currently my new born baby & wife live in address ‘D’. I live in address ‘C’
I have applied the police clearance certificate based on address ‘A’ only.
My wife has applied the police clearance certificate based on address ‘D’ only.
When we filling the DS 260,
I have mentioned only the address A as a present address. My wife has mentioned only address ‘D’ as a present address.
Following question also has been mentioned on DS260.
Does this child live with you?
Actually my child is not lived with me . He lives with my wife in address ‘D’.
Then I put ‘No’ for above question & mentioned my wife address ‘D’.
Still I didn’t submit our DS-260.
Please advice for the following.
01. I didn’t mentioned my previous address B & C on my DS-260 since those address under HOSTEL & BOARDING PLACE. Should I mention the all address on DS260 & Should I get the police clearance certificate based on address A, B & C.?
02. Present address of my wife & myself is different. Is it a problem?
03. I have put the answer as ‘NO’ for above question (Does this child live with you?). Is it a problem?
Hope you will give the answers to my question.
Thank you very much for your grateful support.
Best Regards
Sehan.
December 26, 2019 at 19:21
1. Your answers should be truthful and complete!
2. Possibly.
3. They might ask questions about that.
December 26, 2019 at 13:58
Hello Brit. For example Case no: 2020AF00012345
I understand 12, but I don’t understand rest of it. 345 does it indicates weeks and day that one’s should receive 2NL?
December 26, 2019 at 19:24
It’s just part of the number. 12 THOUSAND three hundred and forty five.
December 26, 2019 at 14:17
Merry Christmas Brit
Brother, I have been asking you what KCC auto reply indicates before 3 or 4 days and you were telling me what to do. In fact, was deciding to wait until my case number (AF26XXX) becomes current. Howevere, KCC send me the following email today. Would you elaborate please?
Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2020 program will begin in October 2019 and conclude on September 30, 2020. Please refer to the visa bulletin at https://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://www.dvlottery.state.gov.
For February, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2020 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number:
AFRICA 25,000 Except: Egypt 16,000
ASIA 12,000 Except: Iran 6,500
Nepal 7,575
EUROPE 14,000
N. AMERICA 8
OCEANIA 1,350
S. AMERICA 1,150
The Visa Bulletin at https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/bulletin.html is updated monthly and contains the current allocation cut-off numbers as well as other important information.
Interviews for the DV 2020 program will begin in October 2019 and will conclude on September 30, 2020. KCC cannot provide information as to when an interview date may become available for your case. Interviews are scheduled numerically according to assigned case numbers which have completed processing. The Department of State designates how many interviews will be scheduled each month according to visa availability. You may refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov for the list of current numbers. This information is updated on the 15th day of each month thereafter.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.

Dear Simone.
My case no: AF22. I’m expecting 2NL in this week or next. But I’m worry about my sponsor he came in Senegal last week and now he is very sick! What should I do now?
December 28, 2019 at 21:02
Give him chicken soup.
December 28, 2019 at 23:27
??? You funny man. Would you please tell me what should I do? My sponsor is not ready to go back to USA now. I’m worry about it.
December 29, 2019 at 00:09
It depends on your circumstances – so use some common sense.
December 29, 2019 at 12:43
I thought I must take another sponsor, does it make sense sir?
December 29, 2019 at 18:25
Trust your own judgement.
December 28, 2019 at 03:50
Hello Mr. Simon.
Merry Christmas and Happy new year.
I have a question, do we have a time frame to present our medical examination results to the embassy after the interview?
I am pregnant (due mid Feb). We just learned that our interview is on Feb. 4th at the embassy of our country. I know we should have our results with us, but my gynacologist advised me to avoid x-rays, so we are thinking to attend our medical examination after I give birth, given we have the tme to prepare the newborn’s paperwork to attend the interview and medical examination with us.
Thank you.
December 28, 2019 at 21:08
I would recommend medical before the interview and if you are concerned (which is an overstated concern in my opinion) then use an abdomen shield.
Or you can delay the process, but the baby will need a DS260, passport, medical and so on, thus increasing the costs and delay.
December 29, 2019 at 10:44
hello BritSimon my case number is current Af21***in ethiopia i get my 1nl they send this on decmber 13 cCongratulations! December 30, 2019 at 06:35
Hi Brit
I am DV 2020 winner and I got my 2NL to be interview early in February, the person who is going to provide me sponsorship has a very good annual income , he provided sponsorship to one family and a single family in DV 2019 and all are now in U S
will it be OK for me to go ahead with him ? , will the embassy accept this as it is a new year now ?
thank you very much
December 30, 2019 at 16:14
It could cause problem, I’m not certain. So – you should decide.
December 30, 2019 at 08:12
Hello Brit, My CN is AF12*** which is current for January and sent the required documents and ds260 on November 15 but unlocked ds260 on Nov 26 and resubmitted on Nov 28, Kcc sent all required documentation submitted and ready to be scheduled on DEC 2. But I have not received the 2NL until now. so my question is
1. I know you said to wait till the END of the month but considering it is holidays week, Is it still possible that the 2NL s will be sent till DEC 31 for February interview?

Today is the last day for 2NLs for February. If you don’t get it today, you will probably get it in the second half of January for a March interview.

Q2 – After DV Winner enter US and after receiving GC & SSN, if the DV Winner need to go out of US for a short period and come back again to US, does DV Winner need to apply for a new Visa or how that process work?
Thank You.

Hello brit.
Am asking, on the issue of editing an information in a ds260 when you already submitted the form, does it not not affect the time for scheduling when you are already current. ?That’s better to go with 5535form?
January 12, 2020 at 17:05
It depends on what edits are being made, whether documents are processed and so on.

Hi Simon
My cn as14k. My documents confirmed by kcc, if my cn current visa bulletin for March, can I receive 2nl in this month? please answer me
January 15, 2020 at 03:56
It depends WHEN you submitted DS260 and documents.
January 15, 2020 at 08:19
I submitted ds260 on May 2019,I sent documents 12th November, I received an email from kcc, confirm my documents one week’s ago
January 15, 2020 at 17:44
So – you won’t get scheduled this month as your documents were processed too late for January scheduling. You will be scheduled in Feb, for April interview.
January 15, 2020 at 18:00
Hello brit,
In december i received the email from kcc that my document are well received, while i was already current, but i couldnt be scheduled because i was already late sending the documents.
But this month, i asked kcc to unlock ds260 ,so as i can edit some information in the form.
So my question is will i be able to receive 2nl from kcc after doing those editings this month again? . CN(AF23333)
January 15, 2020 at 18:07
