Here is the end month update of the data. Not too much to say about the data – it shows normal progress over the last two weeks, no big surprises. I have included a list of embassies so you can get the correct abbreviation for the embassies.
Please take a look at the file and use filters on the file to work out specifics on any country/region you are interested in – I don’t have time to do that for everyone that requests specific data to their interest. You can learn how to filter here.
By the way – I am going to be on vacation for the next few days so I may not be checking in as often.
To explain what the status codes mean.
The first status for every case is “AT NVC”. You can ignore the text on the case – the case has not been passed to NVC. What this status means is that the case is in one of the following situations.
- The case is not yet current.
- The case is current, BUT the DS260 has not be submitted at all, or it was submitted but not processed yet – and therefore not scheduled.
- The case is current, the form is processed, but it is waiting to be scheduled (typically because the cases have not yet been sent to the embassies yet).
“In Transit”
This status is shown for a brief period when KCC has scheduled the interview, and transferred the case to the embassy. However, the embassy has not yet updated CEAC to acknowledge they have received the case.
“READY”
This is the next status after in transit. It means the case has arrived at the embassy for interview. Sometimes a case will continue to show ready even after the interview.
“Issued”
Pretty obviously – this is the status we all want to see! The interview took place, was successful and the visa has been approved/issued.
“Refused”
This is the status no one wants to see, meaning the interview took place and the selectee was denied. A derivative can be refused, while the principal is approved. However, if the principal is refused – all the derivatives are refused also – even if the embassy fails to update CEAC.
“Administrative Processing”
This is when someone did not have all the documents at the interview OR some additional checks are needed before the case can be adjudicated. AP can last a few days or several months. The status updates during that time are meaningless.
Here is the file itself.

April 2, 2016 at 17:25
Hi Brit,
I was one of DV-2015 Selectees and already living in USA since late October. Me and my family have not applied for Green Cards yet, but I am palnning to do so these days. Do you have any information about what forms should we fill, fees etc…? Also, all documents that were in the sealed envelope were taken by immigration officers and only our passports were given back.
Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

April 2, 2016 at 18:33
Thanks Brit, i have another concern. We listed an address in NY during put visa interview, then we decided to go to Minnsota instead at some relatives (we listed that address to the CBP officer) then after one month we moved to our own place (we filed change of address form). To your best knowledge, to which address will our green cards be sent? Also, in the instruction page that you sent me it says “failure to pay your USCIS fee within the time listed on the notice from USCIS, will result in not getting your green card” . so far we havent received any notice…can you please elaborate this statement a bit further? I am deeply grateful for your help!
April 3, 2016 at 01:50
It will be sent to the address listed on your DS 260
Get on a pay the fee.
April 2, 2016 at 18:41
Hello, Brit! Concerning the status “at NVC” in Europe – does it mean that so many people in Europe have not yet send their DS-260 to KCC? About 8035?
April 2, 2016 at 21:57
Yes. Most of them will not continue the process
April 2, 2016 at 22:00
Brit, thank you for the answer and for CEAC data information!
April 2, 2016 at 18:45
Hi dear Brit
Since many iranian cases will face Ap check and Ap take more than 4 or 5 month for them while visa bulletin goes forward fast what do you think about iranian cases? might many of them are not able to get visa? Thank you very much
April 3, 2016 at 01:49
Yes, Iranian cases that start ap late in the year are at risk.
May 10, 2016 at 15:35
Hi Dear Britt,
What do you mean by late this year? You mean 2015 or 2016? My interview was first March and now its two months passed and still no reply. What do you think? Is there any chance that I miss my visa due to time constraint?
May 10, 2016 at 15:47
Every case must complete by September 30. If you remain on AP past that time your case is automatically denied. That does happen each year.
April 2, 2016 at 19:14
what embassy is represented by the initials “KHT” in Africa? I cannot see it in the list of abbreviations
April 3, 2016 at 01:48
Khartoum
April 2, 2016 at 23:31
Hi, please do you think AF35*** is curent? Will i be for june interview? Thank u.
April 3, 2016 at 01:44
Please read my recent article on exactly that topic.
April 3, 2016 at 07:07
While viewing the CEAC file the case AS6258 is shown from KDU embassay does it mean non Nepal case processing from KDU embassy ? or anything else.
April 3, 2016 at 15:10
People process at the embassy near their current address. So – Nepalese get processed all over the world and some non Nepalese get processed in KDU.
April 3, 2016 at 08:01
Hi Brit,
If a person plays without a middle name and fill the ds260 with his full names (middle name) as in his passport and birth cert as always advised by you..he presents a statutory declaration for the names on the day of interview dies dis cost his visa
April 3, 2016 at 08:11
dear simon hope you r having a nice vacationing with yr family !!!
i have a weired scary question ??
i read that on a law dv blog !!!
the blog says that it happened that after people are selected and shedueled for an interview and already interviewd they get denied n the ground of the initial photo specification , meaning that the photo does not apply for the requirements of the lottery . is that could happen after all that time of beleiving that the only way to get denied is thru not sufficent documents not the initial photo wasnt good enough for the dv requirements!!!?????
is that true ???
i am saying that because the interview is next month and i got really concerned of that issue!!!!!
thank you
April 3, 2016 at 15:08
Yes that sort of denial can happen. Generally though if you followed the instructions about recent photo that should not be an issue.
April 3, 2016 at 09:51
Hi Brit !!!! i hope you are alright…
here is my case Number AF285XX, and i am sure that my case number will go current for the upcoming batch of Visa Bulletin publication when i have to reckon on your recent prediction of visa bulletin for the month of june interviews.
i have had my police certificate that dates on 17 december 2015.so my concerns are on how would that affect my interview in June? and to pevent unwilling event during my interview, i have already started the process to get the recent one version of my police certificate. hopefully that i am not worrying too much for nothing regarding my actual police certificate in accordance with its validity..
Best Regards !!!!
April 3, 2016 at 11:22
Mr. Simon
i found this text at CEAC:
At NVC
Immigrant Visa Case Number: 2016AF38***
Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete. You can also find these instructions online at http://nvc.state.gov (English) and http://nvc.state.gov/espanol (Spanish). You will find contact information for NVC at http://nvc.state.gov/ask.
so i have to submit any documents to NVC before my interview appointment??
Thank you
April 3, 2016 at 15:03
No. As I have said multiple times – you can ignore that whole page of information. Just wait.
April 4, 2016 at 06:06

Hi BRIT,
Thanks for everything. You have been of great help.
I had my interview today # af22xxx. It has been a smooth and a friendly one. I just missed my previous passport with a valid US visa. They received my wife and kids’ passports and asked me to send my old and current passports to cancel the existing visa before issuing the new one. Hope it goes well with every one
April 4, 2016 at 13:48

In a week or so…
April 4, 2016 at 17:47
Hi daer brit .next vb?
April 4, 2016 at 18:25
I am in a dilemma right now. My husband whom I married and added after my DV win was in the UK visiting family and applied for a visa extension months back and his passport is stuck there and system seems grossly incompetent and at this point not sure when he will get it back. We will be current in June and I live in the US but flying back for CP which I did to allow us to interview together. So in the worst case scenario if he doesn’t get his passport back in time for interviews in June, how do i navigate that situation?? (some people went more than 8months without passport return). We are both in panic mode right now and I don’t wanna risk losing my visa for that reason.
April 5, 2016 at 03:45
You attend the interview in any case and supply the passport when you have it.
April 4, 2016 at 20:41
Hi Mr Brit, I’ m one of DV winner of 2016, I did submitted my DS260 in the month of june 2015 N up to Now I have not yet received my 2NL, When will I received my 2NL N In which month? Secondly what is the total stoping point of KCC for this year DV 2016 Winners?
April 4, 2016 at 22:03
You will be processed according to your case number – which I don’t know.
April 4, 2016 at 20:47
Mr Brit, Case Number is 53XXX, Which month will KCC sent my 2NL? N which month will be my interview?
April 4, 2016 at 21:03
IF your case goes current, 2nl in july. September interview
April 5, 2016 at 01:05
hi Simon, I recently submitted my DV program on the 12 March and my case number is 27xxx. my question is when will I gonna receive my interview date
April 5, 2016 at 03:42
Your late submission caused a delay. I don’t know how fast they will process your form, so I can’t guess when you will be scheduled.
April 4, 2016 at 21:56
Sir
How percent africa become 55000 in our pridiction
April 5, 2016 at 03:43
I don’t do that type of percentage estimation because it is meaningless.
April 5, 2016 at 10:40
Hi my case#2016AF53xxxx will I be schedule for interview?
April 5, 2016 at 15:29
September if you get current.
April 5, 2016 at 01:36
hello sir , sorry i have a question ; my wife have lymphoma disease and she is principal applicant , you think that we can be denied for visa? thank you
April 5, 2016 at 03:41
No.
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/what-are-the-diseases-that-can-cause-denial/
April 5, 2016 at 09:12
Hi Brit.can you also provide data on AP?beause my family and I was put on AP section 221, since January and the consular said that we will be call, but we have not getting any respond yet sinc than.I won and I add my wife and her 2 kids,we was put on AP SECTION 221 since January.I want to also know whether we stand a chance?please me
April 5, 2016 at 15:31
There is no data I can provide, other than to say AP times vary from a few days to about 4 or 5 months. It depends on the case and the type of AP.
April 5, 2016 at 14:00
Hello Simon, today our visa has been approved. After some hours I have checked the visa status and it shows administrative processing. Shouldn’t it be approved? Because we didn’t have any problem at the embassy and they said they approved our visa. Thank you in advance.
April 5, 2016 at 15:21
That is very common – AP shows for a day or two before it switches to issued.
April 5, 2016 at 15:27
Thank you very much for your response 🙂
April 5, 2016 at 14:27
Hl mr Brit, Please sir What is the total stoping point of KCC for DC this year? Or what is the Number will their stop to? Am asking because as for me my case Number is Fifty three, I when to believe that its high, this is Worrying me too much mr Brit, please I really when to know my status if I will be schudule N in what month?
April 5, 2016 at 15:21
We don’t know the total stopping point because it depends on several factors – and we have 6 months of processing left.
April 5, 2016 at 14:56
hi mr, simon have a nice day
I hope after
After kindly allowed to me. I hope that the brothers who have passed the interviews positively and negatively visit the link Interview experience stories https://britsimonsays.com/interview-experience-stories/ and list the details of the interview for the new benefit
thanks lot for all
April 5, 2016 at 16:39
Hello Simon., hope you’re enjoying the vacation. Suppose KCC decides to redistribute unused visas to AF and AS regions, will it be reflected in the remaining VBs via high jumps or what will they do to prevent overburdening the embassies in the last VB as they try to slot more interviews ? TIA.
April 5, 2016 at 17:26
That is the risk. If unused visas were available to AF and AS regions, there would still be the problem of the embassies. For AF in particular, the difference between, for example 50000 and 55XXX is manageable – they just need to push a few more interviews each month (and assume a certain number of no shows). AS would be possible too once Iran and Nepal are maxed out. However, that is what I would do, knowing the problem and wanting to max out the visas issued. They may not see the problem, and may not be so concerned to max out the visas issued. So – we can do all the permutations and calculations possible, but in the end the only thing that makes sense – is “wait and see”.
April 5, 2016 at 16:50
Can I process my DV visa application if I am seeking Asylum in the country where I reside?
April 5, 2016 at 17:19
Yes.
April 5, 2016 at 17:30
Hey Brit Simon,
I unlocked my DS260 form on Monday the 4th of April but will not submit until the 9th of April. Will this be a problem should the VB come out before submitting my form?
Thanks
April 5, 2016 at 17:38
You might delay your interview a month….
April 5, 2016 at 19:21
hi Simon good day
my birth certificate was damaged. I went to the council where it was established but a document was issued me bearing all info n my damaged birth certificate. I was told that another birth certificate couldn’t be established. does this pose me a problem?
April 6, 2016 at 00:33
THat should be OK.
April 5, 2016 at 19:24
am writing from Cameroon
April 5, 2016 at 19:32
One more question Guv’nor Simon… from the CEAC data, the remaining cases for AF region are around 11050. From your response rate, derivative addition rate, refusal rate ceteris paribus , how many cases can attend interviews from this number (11050)? Many regards
April 6, 2016 at 00:32
I’m not sure that number is correct, but you can assume no more than 60% response and a selectee (derivetive) rate of 2.25.
April 5, 2016 at 19:48
hi
my wife and I had interview on 19november,she get her visa immediately but I’m in AP check for almost 5 month .
we get married after our second letter,i serve in military and we live in Iran
did you know someone how had case like our case? ( married after second letter )
did you know how long does it take so I get be clear?
April 6, 2016 at 00:30
Your AP has nothing to do with ypour marriage – it is more likely your military service and that you lived in Iran. I can’t predict the time to complete…
April 6, 2016 at 09:39
one other thing
i fill my 260 form very late ( October 2th )
could it be the cause of this delay for clearing me ?
April 6, 2016 at 16:33
No.
April 5, 2016 at 20:44
Hi britsimonsays
I listed an address in ds-260. Which I am planning to change during interview. Now my question is. If will put an address in newyork and my landing willbe for example in Texas, is it a problem or not. Because I have conference in Texas and my college living in new-York. He will receive green card and send to me in home country. Just I need your advice. Thanks in advance
April 6, 2016 at 00:29
Not a problem.
April 6, 2016 at 05:27
Hi BRIT,
To which address we can send the form ” i-797, notice of action” because there are many addresses and they did not answer the telephone.
thank you
April 6, 2016 at 16:37
They send you the form, not the other way around.
April 6, 2016 at 08:31
I was added to my husband but not using his name. My question is it necessary to do that in this process?
April 6, 2016 at 16:34
No
April 6, 2016 at 09:02
Hi simon
I just wanna ask u
can I rent an appartement or a room when I will arrive to US in my first day ??
because I don’t know anyone in US who can help me and I’m just going alone.
thanks
April 6, 2016 at 16:34
I suggest a hotel for a few days and find a better solution asap.
April 6, 2016 at 17:26
Hello mr simon.please help me out with this issue.I filled my ds260 form when I wasn’t married. I got married in August first traditional. So I unclock my form as advise by someone and added my wife as beneficiary/ derivative without creating a ds260 form for her still as advice by the person.I later came to realize that I had made a great mistake my unlocking my form to add my wife whom we married traditional thinking that traditional marriage is ok at the embassy level.because u know simon traditional marriage means a lot to us Africans. After realizing this we had to marry in court in October. I wish I had known this your blog ever since befor I could proceed with anything rather seeking advice fron someone who claims to know.pleas simon at this point am confuse I feel like given up but I know u are a master in dis please advice me.my cn is af38***.At this point since I hv made a mistake I dont know if I show say at the embassy that my wife will not accompany me or what so that it wouldnot complicate matters since is to late to get her a form n since I first of all unlock when we did just traditional. Please my brother help me what u tell me is what I will do.thanks am from Cameroon. We have pictures n videos for both the traditional n court marriage. Help I love my wife.
April 6, 2016 at 18:10
So, whether they accept the traditional marriage or not depends on laws and customs in your country. If that form of marriage does not confer legal rights, get married in court.
However if you want a Green Card for your wife, you should complete a DS260 for her. Do all of that immediately.
April 6, 2016 at 18:21
Ok thanks so much simon my jeart is at peace now.so please if the the embassy ask why I am filling my wife for now what should I say.and will unlocking my form cause a delay in my second letter.and lastly what other prove do we need.we are already married in court last October.
April 6, 2016 at 21:34
You need to show marriage papers at the interview. Unlocking may cause a delay – so what! Better delay than having no GC for your wife.
April 6, 2016 at 18:34
Hello Simon, a quick question. Has the redistribution of unused visas from region to region been exercised before or it’s just an INA clause to be seen and not put into reality? Just curious…. TIA.
April 6, 2016 at 21:33
I have never seen or read about the clause being put into reality – and nothing KCC have done so far shows any intention to do it (indeed the fake EU max number makes me think they will not do it).
April 6, 2016 at 20:33
I send an Email to the embassy for knowing about my AP process
but they only answer me ( we have no control…. )
who had control on my case ?
how should i contact with them ?
where should i send an Email ?
April 6, 2016 at 21:31
Again. You cannot influence the speed of AP. You simply have to wait.
April 7, 2016 at 06:29
Sir. I was approved on April 04’i am a single applicant.the co said that evrything is fine. But today my ceac status changed to ap. Is this normal? Does most of cases suffer ap?
Kdu embassy
April 7, 2016 at 15:10
It will be in AP for a couple of days. That is normal.
April 7, 2016 at 08:04
My case number is AF0044636 when you think will my interview?
April 7, 2016 at 15:09
August perhaps…
April 7, 2016 at 12:32
Hi SIMON, i lost my birth certificate but i have just replaced with with another one with issued that on the 2/4//2016, my question now will be could that be any problem during the interview because of the new date.
April 7, 2016 at 15:02
As long as it is an official replacement it should be OK.
April 7, 2016 at 13:36
Enter your comment here…hello Britsimon have a question am one of them who get the Dv diversty chance now my case number is 28868 is it the time to get me an answer from the embassy to take an interview or it still take a time ?
April 7, 2016 at 14:45
Your 2NL will arrive in about 3 weeks for a June interview.
April 7, 2016 at 20:18
Enter your comment here…MR Britsimon I think it’s better to ask you this question & to get answer from you n what if I have missing alphabetically error in my father name dose it take any problems about ma chance if it is how can i do the right thing in order to keep the chance?
April 7, 2016 at 21:49
Present genuine documents and tell the truth. The name issue should nor be a concern.
