Here is the end month update of the data. Not too much to say about the data – it shows normal progress over the last two weeks, no big surprises. I have included a list of embassies so you can get the correct abbreviation for the embassies.
Please take a look at the file and use filters on the file to work out specifics on any country/region you are interested in – I don’t have time to do that for everyone that requests specific data to their interest. You can learn how to filter here.
By the way – I am going to be on vacation for the next few days so I may not be checking in as often.
To explain what the status codes mean.
The first status for every case is “AT NVC”. You can ignore the text on the case – the case has not been passed to NVC. What this status means is that the case is in one of the following situations.
- The case is not yet current.
- The case is current, BUT the DS260 has not be submitted at all, or it was submitted but not processed yet – and therefore not scheduled.
- The case is current, the form is processed, but it is waiting to be scheduled (typically because the cases have not yet been sent to the embassies yet).
“In Transit”
This status is shown for a brief period when KCC has scheduled the interview, and transferred the case to the embassy. However, the embassy has not yet updated CEAC to acknowledge they have received the case.
“READY”
This is the next status after in transit. It means the case has arrived at the embassy for interview. Sometimes a case will continue to show ready even after the interview.
“Issued”
Pretty obviously – this is the status we all want to see! The interview took place, was successful and the visa has been approved/issued.
“Refused”
This is the status no one wants to see, meaning the interview took place and the selectee was denied. A derivative can be refused, while the principal is approved. However, if the principal is refused – all the derivatives are refused also – even if the embassy fails to update CEAC.
“Administrative Processing”
This is when someone did not have all the documents at the interview OR some additional checks are needed before the case can be adjudicated. AP can last a few days or several months. The status updates during that time are meaningless.
Here is the file itself.

Dear Brit,
AS11XXX here 🙁 (but still praying…)
I do realize that we have to look back on previous fiscal year ,in order to learn better on current trends.
Yet, after reviewing figures, your analysis, and further information — correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t DV2016 tend to resemble DV2014 more than DV2015? (VB bulletins, number of selectees in Iran and Nepal, APs, etc…)
I’m not trying to convince myself that Asia will leave only a few people missing out…
Its a genuine attempt to try to see how this year’s process is going…
I appreciate your time and good will to enlighten all of us, and I know in the end – we have to wait and see 🙂
Many thanks!
April 7, 2016 at 19:50
The individual visa bulletin numbers don’t suggest anything in terms of the final number. What held back AS in 2015 was Iranian AP cases. I think they may handle Iran the same way this year.
However, in the end, wait and see is the only sure answer…

hi Simon good day.
my birth certificate was damaged some four years ago and the civil status registration centre where it was established gave me an attestation of existence of the stump. it carries all the information on the original birth certificate. does this pose a problem in US embassy in Cameroon?.
secondly, should we expert the June VB today?
April 8, 2016 at 14:18
I don’t know if that document will be enough. If there is a replacement birth cert available – get that.
I don’t know about the VB
April 8, 2016 at 14:29
I was told that the birth certificate cannot be reproduce. that’s the reason I was issued an attestation
April 8, 2016 at 15:11
So if that is the normal procedure it might be acceptable.
April 8, 2016 at 18:45
Hey Brit,
I finally resubmitted my DS260 form today, will my process still be delayed since it is couple of days to the VB coming up?
April 8, 2016 at 21:13
I can’t be certain.
April 8, 2016 at 21:27
to minimize risk I will go in for another birth certificate

April 10, 2016 at 18:30
There is not a delay. They have until the 15th of each month to publish the bulletin. It normally comes out a little early – about the 10th/11th. However, since today is Sunday, it is not late at all.

hello simon,
m waiting for my 2NL and my case no is 2016AS****5850 FROM Nepal, i guess my 2NL will come this week what u say.
another question i would like to ask,
due to some reasons i need to change my interview date, changing the date affects the circumstances or not.
April 11, 2016 at 22:56
2NLs for May have already been sent. 2NLs for June interviews won’t come for about 2 to 3 weeks.
It’s not a good idea to change your interview date.
April 12, 2016 at 12:23
hi Simon
I am 4th year chemical engineering student but I going to USA in this month. as you know I left one year in order to finish. is it valuable if I bring 4 years university result(advanced diploma) please?
April 12, 2016 at 14:33
Yes take it.
April 12, 2016 at 12:10
Hi simon
Today we passed our interview. In our case we were 3 people I ( the principle applicant) my child and my wife. but my wife didnt participate in the interview because she didn’t completed her medical check up and before our interview U.S. Embassy just called us and said only you and your child come to interview and your wife will be scheduled at a later date. The officer didn’t ask anything just asked what is your highest education degree and checked our original documents and gave back our documents and he didn’t say anything about our visa refusal or approval. He said we will be in touch. They took our passports and said i will see. Now what do you think would they issue our visa or our case will goes AP until my wife pass her medical check up? What do you think if we were denied the consular officer would have said that you are ineligible or it is up to embassy?
April 12, 2016 at 14:50
You can’t infer anything from their comments….
April 12, 2016 at 12:21

April 12, 2016 at 13:52
Hi simon i made a mistake in my original entry for my date of birth 10/2/1989 instead of 10/2/1987, but i have emailed kcc and i have submitted the correct date of birth. will that cause any denial.
April 12, 2016 at 14:23
At most embassies it would be OK, In some (such as Accra) it would increase the risk of denial.

April 13, 2016 at 05:26
Dear,
Britsimon
My Status is “Refused” now. I took an appeal and Us embassy reply my resquest and told me that your case is “under review”. But unfortunaly till now i don’t have answer. With your experiences, is it possible that my status can be Approved at the level of the us embassy?
April 13, 2016 at 05:46
I don’t know the details of your case 0 but refused is normally final.
April 13, 2016 at 06:01
The reason of the refusal visa is “Pre-existing child”. While the interview visa we explaine to the officer the reason of that my child miss the initial entry of DV program and we submitted all evidences. The CEAC status is Refused now. But, the us embassy send us an email told us that we will give you an answer and your case case is under review.
April 13, 2016 at 06:03
OK, well that is a certain refusal. The reasons why won’t matter, this is a fundamental rule on the DV program.
April 13, 2016 at 06:28
Dear,
Brisimon
Thank for answer, I have another question. The worksheet that the officer gave me to refuse my visa.. the officer use the immigration law of Us but till now I didn’t accept and I’m confused because The office use the section Labor law to refuse my visa. In your experiences what shall I do?
April 13, 2016 at 06:34
The section used is a catch all for mistakes. There is nothing left to do, there is no recovery from the error you made. Read the following article to be clear.
https://britsimonsays.com/easiest-way-to-get-disqualified-from-dv-lottery/
April 13, 2016 at 13:52
Hi,
Did the officer refused your case on your interview day and said that you are refused because of pre-existing child? did the officer take your passports or returned it back to you? Would you please tell me your interview day because i had the same history i can help you a bit.
April 13, 2016 at 14:19
Please explain the details of your case.
April 13, 2016 at 14:51
Hi britsimon,
A few days ago i and my eligible child passed our interview. My wife is going to be interviewed in another date because she was suspected of TB and until her final test is done. But on the first e-dv entry there were only my wife and my eligible child who was under 21 year of age. After submitting the ds-260 forms we had miswritten our daughters date of birth as 1994 (which means she was eligible to be added on first e-dv) on that forms, but it was just a mistake of changing the Hijri-Shamshi to Gregorian date. Her actual date of birth is 1993( means she was not eligible on first e-dv). When we recieved our 2NL we found that our daughter has also been added to our case and it would be a big problem to us for our visa refusal. Then we called KCC and i said them that we have such case they replied that it is up to embassy. Then i translated my daughter’s Birth Certificate and her Identity Card to English and sent to U.S Embassy.they replied that we have made a note of this information in your case. On the day of our interview the officer asked about her and i said all the things true to him. But at final he didn’t say that our case is approved or refused. He said we will be in touch. The officer didnt give our passports back. Now what is your thought? it is a very very rare and sensitive case i think. Is it possible for me and my son to be issued a visa before my wife’s interview? or my daughter’s documents won’t be accepted and we will be certain disqualified?
Thanks please reply me
April 13, 2016 at 15:30
So, first of all – your case is not like the other person. In that other case an eligible person (child) was not on the original entry). There is no acceptable excuse for that – and disqualification will always be the result.
In your case you included someone on your eDV entry (your daughter) who then turned out to be ineligible (assuming she is not covered by the CSPA). That does not cause disqualification for the other family members, just refusal for the child over 21. Read here to check if your daughter is eligible or not. https://britsimonsays.com/child-turn-21-can-heshe-get-visa/
If YOU are the principal selectee, it is possible for you to be issued (and your son) prior to your wife, but in practice the embassies typically process all the family members together. I generally advise getting the embassy to issue the visas that can be issued to secure the places. But that is something you can decide and then talk about with the embassy.
April 13, 2016 at 17:15
Yes i am the principle selectee dear simon. So what do you advise me right now? my wife’s test could take up to 7 weeks for results to be cleared whether she is Tb or not? If i and my son wait to her then my eligible child whose age is under freeze would age out and im afraid of ending the fiscal year. In your opinion what should we do that my and my son’s visa could be approved as soon as possible?
April 13, 2016 at 17:18
As I said – if you want to get your visas issued, you must ask the embassy if they will do that while the other derivatives are on AP.
April 13, 2016 at 18:51
Hello Simon am current for june interview but am a bit worried about a mistake i made in my original entry about my date of birth but i have correct it in the DS 260 form, i will be interview in Freetown.please advice me am a bit worried for them not to refuse my visa
April 13, 2016 at 19:47
You have done all you can – now it is up to the CO.
April 13, 2016 at 19:07
Hi Brit .. At time on entry I selected high school without degree and filled out my ds form accordingly. I had interview on 10 April but not able to attend as my degree will be coming in June end . I know that its rarely get the 2nd chance of interview . so I received new appointment on 18 may again . but again same issue of not having certificate .. Do u think shloud I proceed to interview day and let them know that i m awaiting certificate . I am sure re-setting interview date again will not bring same luck .. Give me your kind advice. my embassy is abu Dhabi…thx
April 13, 2016 at 19:46
Attend the interview. Without fail.
April 14, 2016 at 09:55
Dear simon,
So in your opinion right now are we refused ? The officer took our passports and didnt say anything to us that we are refused. If we were refused so would he have said that on our interview day or it is not clear until the CEAC site shows we are refused or we have problem. What i am concering about is if my wife’s medical check up extends so our case would expire. Please i need more your thoughts.
April 14, 2016 at 15:13
You are not reading my answers correctly and you are starting a new thread each time meaning I am having to search around to continue the conversation. REPLY to a post and READ the answers. I did NOT say you were refused. Read again.
April 21, 2016 at 00:00
Hi Brit,
I attended the interview with my family (02 ADT + 02 CHD) on 18th. April and everything went well, and even the CO advised that the visa application has been approved and gave me the congratulation letter which says that visa stamp will be printed within two weeks, and after 48 hours I was checking the CEAC website and suddenly my case went through AP !!!!.
I am little bit confused her, how come I have been told that visa was approved and then the case goes through AP.
April 21, 2016 at 03:39
That is normal – many cases show AP for a short time (a day or two) before changing to issued.
April 21, 2016 at 13:04
So you think status will be changed to issued max. by next week…
did I got it right???
April 21, 2016 at 13:10
Sorry for being pushy, but I am sure you understand how worried I am 🙂
April 21, 2016 at 13:48
I explained what often/normally happens…..
April 23, 2016 at 15:48
Hi Brit
AP now changed to be ready instead issued.
\what does that mean???
thanks
April 23, 2016 at 16:04
That often happens at the end of AP and within a few days the status becomes issued.
April 26, 2016 at 13:45
Hi Brit….
Status changed today to read issued, and after few minutes I was rechecking the CEAC again and suddenly it is changed to ready again!!!!!
Appreciate your feedback please
April 26, 2016 at 13:51
RElax and stop watching the status for a few days.
April 22, 2016 at 10:41
Hi Birt, I am a bit worry. I got married last year before the Dv result n i am 24 years old, n my partner is 21 now. I am the head of this program. I am worrying if it will not cause Visa refusal.? I am 2 years older then he. Thanks!
April 22, 2016 at 14:22
That is irrelevant.
