Does the travel ban might delay 2NL for those who are from the country that banded? Or delaying 2NL for 2months is something usually happened?
The CN was current in FEB so the interview was supposed to be in MAY but it just get ready this week moreover the 2NL has not arrived yet.
Thank u
May 24, 2018 at 23:31
The way they are handling banned selectees seem to be varying. Some have been scheduled, but others haven’t. Not being scheduled is better in some ways. If you feel you can overcome the ban for some clear reason – contact KCC and ask them to schedule your case.

Dear Simon;
I just realise that in my DS 260 I didnt put the “secondary school” data(I did the secondary school 20 years ago) . I only put the university data where I did my bachelor degree and my master degree. I am current for july interview(even though i didnt yet receive the 2nl)
1. Is this ommission going to be an issue during interview?
2.If yes; what can you advise me? Do I have to unlock the ds 260 and put the missing info(I am current for july interview) or it can be easly handled during the interview?(I have all secondary school documents with me)
Thank you for your quck reply.
May 24, 2018 at 23:52
Well it is too late to update the DS260. Take proof of the secondary education as well, and this would not usually cause a problem.
May 25, 2018 at 02:32
Hi Simon
Having just read the message from @Rutanga and seen your reply , I realize I made the same error in competing my DS620.
I am a 2019 processed winner and awaiting notification of possible interview.
As a heads up to others therefore who still have to fill in their DS620’s ….
As the question ” Number of Educational Institutions Attended” follows on from the previous question ” Highest Level of Education Completed ‘ , I assumed they only wanted to know about these ( I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Higher Diploma in Education ) – and that it was assumed that I must have completed secondary school if I had a university degree.
Simon – just to confirm :
1. Just make sure that I take my secondary school record to the interview ?
2. They don’t automatically disqualify you if they see in the DS620 no reference to a secondary school in the information that I have filled in ?
Thanks
May 25, 2018 at 02:49
1. No – The previous reply was to someone already current for interview. That person basically has no choice. You do. Unlock your form and correct the information. But – wait a few weeks until you properly understand what other mistakes you have made.
May 25, 2018 at 00:22
Dear Simon
Firstly I would like to thank you for your endless help and support
1- my case number is current for interview on July in Abu Dhabi I received my 2NL 7 days ago the status on ceac website is still showing at NVC , I tried to register in the embassy website for the interview which is a normal process here done by the previously interviewed cases and its showing there is no appointment for your case number , do I need to contact KCC regarding this or just wait and see ?
2- regarding the affivadift of support is it possible to be filled by one of my relatives who lives outside the US but holding a US passport and paying his taxes regularly till 2017?
3- I discovered lately that there is a one additional letter in my third name done by mistake during the English translation of my birth certificate is this going to be a problem ?
Thanks
May 25, 2018 at 02:56
1. Wait a few more days – then contact KCC
2. I would say no – why introduce that risk?
3. No – make sure it is correct in the DS260
May 25, 2018 at 07:02
Hi Bogy,
Simon, may you allow me to comment on point No.1.
I had the same problem while registering my appointment, I got a message stating that appointment is not yet ready to schedule for my case number and advising to send an email to XXXX with my name and attachment of the 2NL to update the system (subject: case number not ready to schedule)
I sent an email, one hour after I got a reply stating that my case number had been updated in the system and I can register the appointment.
Note: email (XXXX) varies according to the embassy.
May 25, 2018 at 14:03
Yes that works for people who cannot be patient.
May 25, 2018 at 15:54
Hi bogy,
My case same as your case, I received 2NL, but stil appeared as at nvc,
I contacted the kcc and they said I’ve to contact the embassy.
I think we’ve to wait more time.
Where r u from? I am from jordan
May 25, 2018 at 00:31
Hi Sir, firstly I would like to express my gratitude for your great support and help for all the people whom asked and got information from your blog, just by a great luck both me and my wife were DV 2018 winners, we had proceeded through my wife’s CN because its lower, her CN was 2018AF20xxx and mine was 2018AF43xxx, we had our interview on the 4th of April and got AP, since then we were are waiting, my question is do you recommend to fill my DS260 or WAIT AND SEE what will happen to her case? Thanks in advance
May 25, 2018 at 02:52
Well in your case it would be useful to know why you are on AP. If it is background checks, you probably have a better chance with the case already processing.
May 25, 2018 at 03:16
Thanks for your prompt reply, likely it’s a background checks, because the CO informed us after the interview that all our documents are complete. Thanks again, wish you all the best
May 25, 2018 at 03:26
i want to know how to go about this case. The mother of my son is married to anotther man. Should i include her name in the Ds260 form as my son’s mother or what. I’m really confused .
May 25, 2018 at 03:36
You cannot include her. But you can list your son. However, you can only take your son if you have custody, if you don’t, then just list him on your DS260 but don’t create a DS260 for the child.
May 25, 2018 at 07:23
Hello Dear brite My name is Samira and i am waiting for my interview DV2018.

May 25, 2018 at 07:25
Hello brits my question is regarding sponsorship
1> I have submitted my DS 260 form naming my uncle as a sponsor who have his own house in USA. but the problem is he have already sponsored other 3 people in past 6 months. So should i stick to my uncle sponsorship or it may cause any problem due to the number of sponsorship continuously?
2> If I change sponsorship on interview which is 8 days from now then i can put name of my cousin who is daughter(age=28 job holder) of my uncle but live on same address/house. In such case what will be the wise decision sir need ur help .
THANKyOU FOR UR HELP AND SUPPORT
May 25, 2018 at 14:01
1. Why take the risk?
3. Your choice.
May 25, 2018 at 14:52
Sorry brit I didnt get u clearly?
1> Does continuous sponsorship may affect?
2> As both mine sponsor are daughter and dad in relation of eachother having same location/house.
So what will be the wise decision i cant make a decision sir so i need ur suggestion thank u for ur response
May 25, 2018 at 16:14
You can decide how much risk you want to take.
May 26, 2018 at 02:49
Risk in the sense
1) Does change in sponsorship effect ?
2) Changing the sponsor of same family member is a wise decision ?
I know u cant tell exact what to do coz its all my decision but sir im in deep trouble as my interview is comming next week . So i just need ur opinion thanks for ur response sir
May 26, 2018 at 05:32
If your interview is next week all you can do is go with what you have.
May 26, 2018 at 11:31
ok brit thank u i got u . If i want to change sponsor now should i have to email kcc or the embassy where my interview is sheduled ?
May 26, 2018 at 14:24
Just take documentation.
May 26, 2018 at 12:19
Ok brit i think now i have decided as both of them are my relatives of same family and same adress so I think it will be better to carry my uncle and cousin both welcome letter at time of interview. If the counsulor wont be happy about mine uncle frequent sponsorship than i will present my cousin sponsorship letter to them as joint sponsorship? What do u think sir 🙂 😀
AND LASTLY THANK U FOR UR PATIENCE BRITS UR REALLY AN EXAMPLE OF HUMANITY EXISTS
May 26, 2018 at 14:30
There is no joint sponsorship.
No need to check with me. You can make your decision.
May 25, 2018 at 18:25
Did you mention your son when registering the dv??
May 25, 2018 at 11:16
Hi britt,
Sorry of the disturbance,
1. In the education field, in degree part i wrote only +2, HSEB ( HSEB is authorized short form of Higher Secondary Education Board in Nepal) is it OK only writing HSEB.
2. In university Degree, Course of Study part, I wrote only B.A.LLB as mentioned character certificate (But B.A.LLB is short form of Bachelor of arts and bachelor of laws). writing these shortform arise problem.
Do i have to unlock form and change. or is it ok.
May 25, 2018 at 13:55
1. Detail all your education from age 12 upwards
2. Short form is OK
May 25, 2018 at 12:13
Hi Mr.Britsimon,
My friends interview date is scheduled now for july 3rd.But we have a big problem that the sponsor we add to dv 260 doesn’t like to fill the sponsor letter and most of US citizens doesn’t like to give us sponsor letter with there salary details.H however my friend doesn’t have so much money to show at the interview.
01)Is it compulsory to fill that personal details part of the sponsor letter? Can’t we show sponsor letter to the interview without giving personal salary details?
02) Is there any other option other than sponsor letter?
Please help us to solve this problem.

Hello Mr Simon. Is it necessary to process two different affidavits, keep one for unforeseen circumstances, Since there is small risk associated with my affidavit because my sponsor’s husband had earlier filed DV affidavit this yr for another DV 2018 winner?
May 25, 2018 at 14:15
Your choice on how to prepare.
May 25, 2018 at 14:18

Mr Simon. we are hearing over here in Liberia that Liberian Ambassador accredited to the US was rejected by the US government for some political reasons. If this is true and correct, does this have any negative multiplied effect on winners from Liberia?
May 25, 2018 at 17:51
No
May 25, 2018 at 19:10
Thanks for being responsive, what ever the case maybe!
May 25, 2018 at 17:22
Hello Brit,
I’m a winner dv 2018 and I’m married. My sponsor is a United Nations employee and is exempt from paying taxes. which means he can not provide tax return 1040 and W2. I’m worried because I do not know the embassy accepts this type of sponsor. AF 38 ***
1- do I have to change my sponsor?
2- Does a couple have to choose a married sponsor or whatever?
May 25, 2018 at 17:52
1. Yes
2. No
May 25, 2018 at 18:11
Thank you Brit for your answer. You do a very good job.

May 25, 2018 at 19:36
Good day Brit I have been reading ur blog for more than a year now in one of ur post u make mention of redistribution of AF visa to Europe when kcc realize that AF would not hit it limit.
1. Now my question is because of that reason is it possible for AF to go current since they have many visas left to be redistributed to EU?
May 25, 2018 at 19:38
If you have been reading for a year, you should know my answer… wait and see.
May 25, 2018 at 20:04
Hi Simon
2019AF22XX winner
I have taken your advice on unlocking my posted DS620 ( I need to change my educational institutions to include my secondary schooling and not just university ones.) and delaying re-posting it in case I find anymore errors.
Having done so and having reviewed my answers to ALL questions I have the following queries before reposting my DS620
A. – PREVIOUS ADDRESSES – I have tried as best as I can to be as accurate as possible ..but
some periods are a while back and I cannot remember them all.
1. for a period between beginning of 1994 – end of 1995 ( APPROX 2 years ) I backpacked
through Europe ( travelled and stayed through many countries ) and passed through NYC for 5
days on my way to Mexico where I stayed for 30 days.
It is impossible to remember addresses and places I stayed as they were either youth hostels or
on friends couches and spare rooms.
Basically I never actually paid rent and for the most part a transient part of my life.
Never had a permanent residence
How do I account for these two years in the DS & taking into account that the format does not
allow one to have more than a month gap in between places and years of residence ?
2. I resided in London between 2008-2010.
For 2008 & 2009 I have the details to fill in for the DS for the residence I was in.
However for 2010 I no longer stayed there – stayed with a few friends in their homes – basically either
in a spare room or on the couch.
I never paid rental.
Can I just give the residential address I have details for for the entire period from 2008 – 2010 ?
Again I have lost touch with the people I stayed with and I am not sure that even if I could get hold
of them, if they could remember the addresses themselves.
B – US VISA
When answering YES that I have been issued with a visa before, it seems you can only state 1 date when it was issued.
As I have been issued with visas three times – 1994 / 1995 / 1998 must I assume they only require the details to the latest one that was issued ?
Or am I incorrect in stating that you can only enter details for one VISA and have misunderstood how to fill this in ?
C – PREVIOUS US TRAVEL DATES
The DS asks for info on ones last 5 visits to the US.
While I can be accurate in the most recent ones in regards to Length of Stay I am not so sure on the accuracy for ones that stretch back to 2005 and 2007.
I am probaly a day or two out in the totals.
I have no recollection of the exact number of days I stayed in the US and no records of them.
Is this a serious problem ?
D – SECURITY AND BACKGROUND INFO
For the question “ Do you seek to enter the US for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor “ I answered no.
But was this answer incorrect as if I am successful in my interview in securing the visa , I will obviously be looking for employment and work in the US ?
E – will unlocking and reposting my DS620 in the next few days have a negative impact in that it will delay when it is finally processed and when I may be asked for the 2NL.
Sorry – I know this has been asked before but I could not find where in the historical posts or in the FAQ’s
Thanks
May 25, 2018 at 21:21
Use your own judgement about these questions. Absolute precision is not expected.
C – You can get I94 dates online. Google that.
D – Did you read the guide.
E – FAQ
May 25, 2018 at 21:29
May God bless you Sir Brits
May 25, 2018 at 20:16
Hi people good!
A new worry! Tell me, the fact of not declaring a child born after submitting the DS260. Would it be detrimental to family reunion later if the visa is approved?
May 25, 2018 at 21:22
It could create problems, yes.
May 25, 2018 at 21:33
Hi,
I have won DV2018, my case number is EU185XX , but I haven’t submited DS260 form yet. Is is too late for submiting this form now?
Thank you.
May 25, 2018 at 22:57
No.
May 26, 2018 at 07:32
Dear Brit,
my interview is on 2nd july 2018.
I want to change my sponsor name, I already send mail to KCC to unlock my ds 260, but they said can not do it because my case is already schedules. any affect?
May 26, 2018 at 14:18
No. Just change at the interview
May 26, 2018 at 08:46
Hi Simon, hope you are OK. I have the following questions:
1.My wife was selected (SA10XX) but we moved to Europe this year, can we ask for the interview to be here in Europe when we summit the DS260?
2. My wife’s original application was made in Venezuela, her passport is already expire and we will try to get a new one by the time of the interview but this is not guaranteed. She is also Spanish and the Spanish passport is OK. When making the DS260 application should be put Spanish nationality first (because this is the passport to travel) or Venezuelan (even if it is expired)
3. We came to Europe with only our bachelor degree paperwork, do we also need to provide high school + primary school evidence as well, or with the bachelor degree paper is enough?
Thanks in advance

Ask the embassy.
May 26, 2018 at 11:53
Hi
I am a DV 2019 Winner from Sri Lanka
I have several clarification on filling DS-260 Form
1. What is High School Degree & High School No Degree Means for Sri Lanka?
2. My exisiting occupation is business, after going to US also I prefer doing business. So If I select business in US, will there be any advantages & dis-advantages ? Because all other job categories mentioned in the drop down and not in my criteria.
3. I have wife & 1 child. If I need to take them with me, I need a US sponsor for those 2 people. Therefore, I prefer get the Green Card first and go to US and sponsor them myself and get them. when filling DS-260, in wife’s form, question ask “spouse immigrating with you to US”, if i select answer “No”, then ask “do you plan to get spouse later”. my answer should be “No”. Because I travel earlier, wife comes later.
4. If I can show income & assest for my wife & child, will the embassy accept that as sponsorship?
5. If I travel first alone, do I need to submit the DS-260 form for wife & child also? or only my Ds-260 form?
6. I have mentioned my parents house address in my DV application. Now I live in different address. Can i include my address in the DS-260 form. will there be a problem as I have mentioned my parents address in the DV application?
7. After submitting DS-260 Form, how long will it take for the interview date?
Thank you.
May 26, 2018 at 14:30
1. I don’t know the Sri Lanka system.
2. No difference
3. Why not take the with you???
4. You need to prove you can support all three of you. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
5. If you don’t get their visa through the DV process it will be a 2 year process to bring them. Don’t do that, simply because you don’t understand. The DV process is the best way for you and your derivatives.
6. No problem.
7. It varies based on your case number.
You really should learn more before you submit your DS260.
May 26, 2018 at 15:28
Hi
tks for the quick reply
3. reply to your comment – If i take my family with me, I do not have any person to sponsor in US. BUT I cm show my business income & assets in Sri Lanka. Will that be enough for the visa application?
3.1 – If I apply visa fro all 3, if wife and child visa application get rejected, mine also get rejected to this sponsor problem?
7. I am 2019 DV winner, so my interview will be however after 30th Sept 2018 always or earlier?
Tks.
May 26, 2018 at 15:57
3. You may have to obtain a sponsor for yourself anyway, and that sponsorship covers your derivatives.
3.1. No.
7. Between October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2019
May 26, 2018 at 15:35
1. Sri Lankan education system more similar to UK. GCE Ordinary Level at 11th Grade & GCE Advaced level at 13th Grade
May 26, 2018 at 16:03
So pick a choice.
May 27, 2018 at 02:30

May 27, 2018 at 13:21

May 26, 2018 at 14:55
Hi Brit,
I am a bit confused about the affidavit of support. Where the I134 is supposed to be sent ? To the selectee who will present it on interview day if asked along with the supportive documents or
To uscis?
Or to the consulate?
May 26, 2018 at 15:11
You take it to the consulate for the interview and present it *if asked*.
May 26, 2018 at 21:43
hello please i have been selected at the lottery DV 2019, am military, and wanted to know if you have already had cases like me..if yes.es what the majority easily receives the letter of permission to go out of their country by their authorities, for the United States. If the majority of the military are so lucky. He who knows so little also clarify us. I really like it. Thank you…
May 26, 2018 at 23:34
Military personnel typically have some sort of obligation to complete. The CO will not give a visa without military clearance.
May 26, 2018 at 22:31
I am student in USA now. I have won Green card -2019 2019EU25xxx. I want attend in USA and my family will attend interview in my home country. When I filling the DS260 I have to resond the question that Is your family immigrating with you. Yes or no. which one I have to choose?
May 26, 2018 at 23:39
What you are describing is a Follow to Join process. It is somewhat risky, because you have to complete your adjustment of status and only then can you file an I-824 to start the process for the derivatives. They must complete that process by September 30, no extensions. In practice, that is hard to do in time unless you have a low case number (which you do not). So – I recommend you plan to travel home and interview with them.
May 27, 2018 at 00:09
thank you brit really you are best. I am serious You are the best than I lot of lawyers.
Thank you.
May 26, 2018 at 22:57
Hi Brit. I have a question and maybe you can help me.. I dont know what to do because I’m single and i sent my DS260 with that status but now, I want to get married. What would happen if we move to USA and there we get married? Will he have a legal status ? Thank you for your time.
May 26, 2018 at 23:42
If you marry after moving to the USA, you can sponsor your spouse, but that takes around 2 years, and the spouse must wait at home during that time. It is normally better to marry before the DV interview, and the best way to do that is marry early then unlock the DS260 to add the spouse. As long as the relationship is real, there is no risk.
May 27, 2018 at 04:17
Dear Simon,
Just want yo ask you regarding the payments for the Green Card. Is it possible to pay the amount at the POE? or we can pay after we arrived in US?
Thank you for your time.
May 27, 2018 at 04:54
You cannot pay at the POE – you pay online before or after arrival.
May 27, 2018 at 06:32
Hello BritSimon i would like to know if my number is 27000 will i manage to pass the interview up to September 30 and if not will i lose the chance of Green Card ?
May 27, 2018 at 13:55
If you don’t get approved by September 30 you do lose the Green Card. AS for your number – I don’t know. Wait and see.
May 27, 2018 at 06:54
Hi Simon
Thanks for all your previous replies 🙂
I have a medical degree and a postgraduate Master, but unfortunately I dont have my high school certificate with me. It was lost long time ago when I shifted to another country. I have more than 5 years work experience as a university lecturer.
I have listed my school info in the DS260.
Sorry, looks like I’m bragging,.. From your experience, will this be a problem?
Thanks so much for your time..
May 27, 2018 at 14:07
From my experience, it “could” be a problem. Up until recently the rule was quite firm about US high school equivalent, and even though the rule was amended to say “at least” high school equivalent, some CO’s have still ignored various degrees and insisted on HS.
If you cannot obtain the HS proof, print out the info at the following link and highlight the words “at least” in the education rule. Be prepared to show that at the interview.

Thanks so much for the link.. wow great.
How about the phrase HS or work experience (uni. lecturer SVP range >8) in my case.
I am stressing about the “OR”
What do you think,?
May 28, 2018 at 04:38
Literally nothing to stress about…

May 27, 2018 at 09:26

May 27, 2018 at 14:32
Stop with the PM requests. If you have something to discuss, do so here in the blog so that others may benefit!
May 27, 2018 at 14:07
No sooner.

Hi me simon 😀
I have been subject to administrative processing for 70 days. Is there hope to get the visa after all this period or is it possible to refuse?
Or when they refuse the person, they are not all that time
please answer
May 27, 2018 at 14:11
Approval or refusal are both possibly outcomes, no matter how long the AP lasts (although if the case does not get approved before September 30, there is no outcome, the case just times out).

There is no formal cutoff, but you can delay about 1 year (so May 2019 for DV2019)
May 27, 2018 at 09:06
Hi Simon,
I have a question one regards to DV 2019 winner, my brother. I filled the original entry for him. He is graduated from a high institute (4yrs) after high school, so I was confused what to put for him as high educational degree so I put that as high school diploma in the original entry then after he won and I was discussing that to him, he mentioned that his degree is a bachelor which is equivalent to a university degree (however it is still not a university degree) and definitely we are going to put that in his DS-260. Now the question :will this be considered as a lie in the original entry and disqualifies him from obtaining the visa?
I have heard from people in some videos on YouTube that any lie in the original entry will disqualify the person from obtains the visa. Please respond and advice.
Thanks
May 27, 2018 at 14:29
No problem. The DS260 should be accurate.

Hi Simon,
My husband and I are LPR through the DV program. We first travelled to the US in November 2017 to activate our visa, then we moved back to our country to take care of some personal matters (my husband was completing a Master’s degree) and we’re now planning on permanently moving back and settle in the US in August 2018. Our physical Green Cards were approved after we left the US and sent to our friend’s address where we initially resided. Are we safe to travel back to the US with our I-551 stamp on our passport (which shows LPR status for one year, so should be valid until November 2018) or would it be better to have our Green Cards shipped overseas before re-entering the US?
Thanks!
May 27, 2018 at 14:33
Either way is fine – GC would be better.

Hello Simon,
I’m a dv selectee for 2018 but i did fill ds 260 just last week. My case n: 2018AF31xx, kindly assist me on bellow questions:
1: i guess mt cn is low compared to current number. Is it possible to be called for the interview before September? And my CN can it be selected before those who are current at the moment?
2: i’ve a family, a wife and kids, but we agree with my wife i go first and they come later. I didn’t process there ds 260. Do i need to process them?
Best regards,
May 27, 2018 at 14:45
1. Yes
2. It will cost a lot of money and take two years to sponsor them later. So as long as you understand that, yes it can be done.

Hi Brit,
1) I have taken 1 month summer course in Sussex University in the UK during my university years and wanted to include it under work/education/training information. Can I add it, as it says to provide educational institutions at a secondary level or above you have attended; does summer course fall under secondary level or above? (If I include it, what documents I will have to provide related to that? (it was 6 years ago)).
2) I also wanted to include some major training I have attended. But I don’t see relevant section under work/education/training information. Can you please also advise on that?
Thank you and best regards,
Maleyka
May 27, 2018 at 14:55
1. A 1 month course doesn’t need to be included.
2. That would be a different educational institution – so you add another one.
May 29, 2018 at 06:09
Hi Brit,
Thank you very much for the reply. I wanted to include them both for strengthening my background for visa allowance and as an assistant to find relevant jobs once in the USA. Is my understanding right? Will the government takes into consideration of info included in the form apart from visa allowance purposes?
Thanks and best regards,
Maleyka
May 29, 2018 at 15:58
The one month course doesn’t make any difference.
The training may help if it was longer, or important in your career, which is why I suggested an additional educational institution.

Hello mr.Brit! Thanks for your help and time. I have a question. My case is not current yet, and I was planning to visit USA next month if i will be able to get a b1/2 visa. So can dvlottery winner apply for touristic visa? Thanks.
May 27, 2018 at 14:52
Yes, but there is a chance of refusal of the temp visa if you have already submitted the DS260
May 27, 2018 at 14:54

HI Simon
In DS260 Education history, i understand that i have to fill all educational history from 12 yrs old, however i only have documents for my Bachelor degree. Will that disqualify me if i go to the interview?
thank you in advance
May 28, 2018 at 04:54
You have time to obtain copies.
May 28, 2018 at 10:44
it will be close to impossibe to get them in my case (from Syria), is it going to be a serious problem if i fail to get them? anyway this is only for education history, but for the Work OR Education requirement i will qualify using work experience.
May 28, 2018 at 12:19
OK -do the best you can. Passing on education is easier than work experience.
