Hello..
i think i made mistake on my edv entry. i am unmarried person. but i think i click on legally separated while i submit my edv entry and not mention any name or something. and i submitted my DS260 with single Marital status. KCC mail me to send documents, and i submit, and i get reply from KCC. with some messaged, Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid ds260 application for each family members, and provide all required documents to kcc. what happened if there is legally separated on my entry, what can i do ?? can i made verified letter that i am single does this work ? and i may loose the chance of getting any visa in future.
December 30, 2018 at 15:25
If that is the status you chose they will expect to see legal documents about the separation. If you have none, because you say you were never married and it was just a mistake on the entry, the CO can choose to disqualify you, or forgive the error. I cannot predict which is the likely outcome.
December 30, 2018 at 15:34
is that going to be a big issue ??
December 30, 2018 at 15:38
Please re-read my reply.

Hello Britt !!

is there is any solution that i can attend the end of semester.
2. Does my body weight effect on medical ? im very skinny.
Thank you !!
December 29, 2018 at 15:58
1. Delay your interview by delaying submitting the DS260 or the documents that KCC ask for.
2. Please use some common sense.
December 29, 2018 at 14:51
thanks for reply ….can suggest what kind of physical disable person can get dv visa and what kind of not …
December 29, 2018 at 15:17
What, like some sort of guessing game? No. I’m really too busy to play games.
December 29, 2018 at 14:37
Hi, Mr Brit
I had B1 B2 Visa, i used it almost 6 month to visit, 5 months ++, i filled on DS260 also the detail days i stayed, so i didnt lie, it was a graduation gift holiday from parents.
You think this would affect my DV case interview? of course i will be honest with them, but this would tickle them right?
December 29, 2018 at 14:45
I don’t see any problem.
December 29, 2018 at 12:27

December 29, 2018 at 13:18

December 29, 2018 at 13:25
Ze Se Tahkuri, Are you a lawyer?
December 29, 2018 at 13:38
What “solution” do you have for someone that doesn’t meet the education requirements? That doesn’t sound like it would be anything honest or legitimate, and I don’t appreciate people exploiting my blog to try and rip people off – so – quickly – tell me what you meant by this “offer” of a solution!
December 29, 2018 at 07:00
Good day Brit thanks for the nice job. My question is, if a DV applicant is rejected under section 212(a)5 or his education during an interview but after weeks with proper immigration policies research, the applicant tend to realize that his refusal was unfair and decided to provide substantial evidences to prove his or her eligibility after his denial.(1) If he wrote a reconsideration letter attached with all proofs plea for his case will he be considered? Thanks for your direction.
December 29, 2018 at 13:52
Is this about your case? In October you asked me about your education and I told you that if there was doubt about your education you should prepare a work experience case for your interview. Your interview is your opportunity to show that you are qualified. If you squandered that opportunity by not being properly prepared, you should not have been surprised at the denial. There is no formal appeal process. You can contact the embassy and ask them to reconsider, but they are certainly not obliged to do so.

December 29, 2018 at 13:45
You caused your own delay with your late submission. So now they have told you what to do next I suggest you just get on with that!

December 28, 2018 at 17:17
Hi, I won the DV lottery 2019. I’m currently a college student in the US, so I’m going to do the adjustment of status here. I heard that I should to submit my bank statement with other documents. Do you know if there is any minimum amount for a bank statement?
December 28, 2018 at 18:53
You should show substantial savings, but better idea is to have an I-134.
December 28, 2018 at 14:23
does physically challenged person can get visa
December 28, 2018 at 14:51

December 28, 2018 at 13:04
Dear Simon,
My son is a derivative DV2018 his first entry or landing to the US was on may 4th, he stayed for a week, then he went in July 3rd, now in January 3rd will be 6 month mark from July, and he just turned 16, and he is in school still now. Does he HAVE to go to the US first week of Jan? or is it possible to wait until may when it is a full year period by then. Thank you so much in advance.
December 28, 2018 at 14:16
You will have to decide for yourself. At some point an immigration officer could question whether he is really planning to become resident.
December 28, 2018 at 19:50
thank you for your reply, he is and he will move to the US only after this school year which ends in June.
December 28, 2018 at 07:34
Dear Brit, I received email from KCC to send documents. I will need to translate all my documents. Is there a specific translator I should use?? what is a certified translator? can I translate it myself?
December 28, 2018 at 14:12
You cannot translate them yourself you need someone (a third party) competent to translate.
December 28, 2018 at 19:40
You only need to translate documents in a language other than the language of the country you’re being processed in.
In my case I’m in Germany getting processed in Germany. All the documents that I have in German do NOT need to be translated. Documents in French, or any other language, I’d have to get translated by a certified translator.
I hope this helps.
December 30, 2018 at 20:07
Hello. Certified how? Apostille?
Thank you!
December 28, 2018 at 05:16
Hi Simon – your site is a lifesaver! I’ve just done my DV visa activation during a recent 5 hour layover and have a couple questions I wondered if you could help me with…
1) Am I a US tax resident as of now, or will I become one the day I permanently emigrate?
2) I don’t plan to emigrate to US permanently until July. Should I expect any issues with CPB when I return in July as it will be over 180 continuous days outside the US? I believe I will have sufficient evidence to prove I will be residing permanently in the USA thereafter though.
Thanks so much
December 28, 2018 at 14:07
1. Now. That means you have to file your first tax report by the April deadline.
2. Generally people doing that have no problem, although occaisionally people meet an officer who is having a bad day and wants to scare someone. The reality is that absences between 6 and 12 months are legal and would never be referred to an immigration judge if someone has a genuine explanation for why the absence was so long, and tying up loose ends preparing to leave a country is a very good “genuine explanation”.
December 27, 2018 at 22:16
please can you tell me why they have so complicated the lottery ……. I see many numbers 7000-9000 that scanned taken untervista date for the short ….. do you have a thought?
December 27, 2018 at 23:58
I have been telling you for months that you are mistaken to think it is simple. That is why I have been telling you to wait and see. I’m just frustrated that you keep asking why this and why that without listening to what I have been saying.
December 28, 2018 at 00:26
sorry for worries …. happy holidays …. god bless you
December 27, 2018 at 21:03
Hi Brits,
Can someone still apply for DV after being denied a visa under section 212(a)(5A) DV lottery disqualification.
Thanks kind regards
December 27, 2018 at 23:54
Well that depends whether that person is now qualified or not. There is obviously a risk of getting the same refusal.
December 27, 2018 at 20:44
Hello Brit, I had my interview on Dec 6, 2018 in Ghana and I was approved by the CO and I was told I would hear from the consulate on visa pick up information in 2 weeks. As at today Dec 27, 2018 I have not heard anything from the consulate.
1. I wanted to know if I should contact the embassy.
2. Could I be on AP?
3. Is my case number AF9*** a factor in the allocation of a visa withi the same month so that I could be getting my visa issued later than the 2 weeks?
4. Is the 2 weeks 2 working weeks or just 2 straight weeks?
5. Would the lapse in appropriation affect visa issuance for those who have been interviewed already?
Thank you in anticipation.
December 27, 2018 at 23:52
1. Up to you.
2. Probably.
3. If the month ends without your AP resolved there could be longer delays later once AP finishes.
4. It’s not precise – so forget about the “two weeks”.
5. Possibly.
December 28, 2018 at 15:57
Hello can u contact my by email [email protected]. We are in the same boat
December 27, 2018 at 14:06
Good day mr. Simon.
My wife is from Belarus and it’s not clear how long is going to take to get the police cerfificate from her country.
According to the fact that we got married four years ago and since than she has legal residence outside Belarus, is the six months expiration limit valid for the belarusian certificate? Should this limit be valid for the actual country of residence certificate only?
Thank you.
December 27, 2018 at 14:54
A CO can accept an expired cert if you have not been back to that country. But it is their choice.
December 27, 2018 at 12:06

Hi Simon,
Merry Christmas!
When checking the USCIS website, it notes that my green card has been produced and mailed to the address I provided. This was almost 2 weeks ago and I haven’t received anything by now. Does it usually take more than that for the card to delivered? Is there anyone I can check with as I am currently not in the US.
Thank you,
December 27, 2018 at 06:19
I don’t know.
December 30, 2018 at 18:17
Hi NB – I hope you have received your card by now. But if not, you can take the case number from your USCIS pay.gov payment confirmation (received by e-mail when you paid the 220 USD fee and probably starts with IOE) and enter it into https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/ and you will then be able to see a USPS tracking number for your card.
At https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input you will be able to track it.
December 27, 2018 at 01:34
Hi simon,
If child has aged out or is not able to receive derivative benefit
My question is during my interview
1) the USA embassy will ask abut them and I have to register them ?
2) What type of document I have to prepare for my child for my interview?
December 27, 2018 at 04:24
1. No
2. None.
December 26, 2018 at 23:48
Hi simon,
I’ll have the interview in US embassy in Buenos Aires on January 3rd.What do you think about the shutdown? Could affect the appointments?
Thanks for everything and happy new year
December 27, 2018 at 00:57
Possibly.
December 27, 2018 at 02:14
Thanks.
I’ve just read https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/lapse-in-appropriations.html
Operations During a Lapse in Appropriations
At this time, scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at our U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits. We will not update this website until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information. The National Visa Center, National Passport Information Center, and Kentucky Consular Center will still accept telephone calls and inquiries from the public. Please note we will be closed for scheduled federal holidays on December 24 and 25 and will reopen on December 26.
December 26, 2018 at 21:03
Hi Simon, I have a question regarding the activation trip.
After my activation trip, i am planning to go back home to Belgium for 4-5 more months before moving permanently to the US.
My question is, will the address provided in the DS260 become my official US address once my GC is activated? meaning, that I can start applying for US jobs and say i am a LPR with a permanent address in the US ?
(of course, when i come back to the US, i might not live in that address, and i can relocate elsewhere in the US depending on where i find a job).
Many thanks
December 26, 2018 at 21:11
There is nothing that makes an address your “official” address. So – you can tell people whatever you want. The point is, you will be an LPR.
December 26, 2018 at 20:44
Hi Simon,
I have two questions;
1) my case number is 2019EU15xxx. I haven’t got mail from KCC about documents requirement. But people whose cn is eu16xxx and eu19xxx received an e-mail. What do you suggest? Keep waiting or should I send an e-mail and ask the KCC?
2) Who sets the day and time of the interview? KCC or consulates in countries?

Hi brit, while filling ds260 I have filled of mine and my wife but after that I got a kid.. on November 7 I got mail from KCC about documents requirement. For that I have send document of mine and wife ..but now I heard that we have to update ds260 and also have to provide document of kid to KCC..can I resend my documents to KCC…how to update my ds260..plz any suggestion
December 26, 2018 at 17:14
Your question is not really clear. But, if you have had a child you need to ask KCC to unlock your forms, so that you can add the child to both your and your wife’s formns AND use the add applicant button to add the DS260 for the child.
December 27, 2018 at 16:05
Thank u… As I have already send document of my and my wife to KCC but didn’t send of child ….can I send document of all again

December 25, 2018 at 21:52
hi brit
Excuse me again to ask you one thing.
my case number is 2019AF106xx is that i sent the requested documents to kcc on november 6, 2018 and i have received confirmation from kcc, and that until today i have not yet received either the mail or the second letter (I’m going to wait).
the problem is that I noticed in my birth certificate extract and that of two of my children there is an error on the name of my father instead of abdelaziz … abdellaziz
my question is:
1- do I retransmit to kcc the new corrected documents (with an explanation)
or only bring back the new corrected documents with me on the day of the appointment.
2-Is this error serious knowing that the administration that made the mistake?
December 26, 2018 at 00:05
1. Your choice. I don’t have any suggestion.
2. Not normally, no.
December 25, 2018 at 20:45

December 25, 2018 at 09:11
Hi simon I was wondering if I wrote my eligibility country Egypt and I was born in Kuwait but my parents are born in Egypt and I received the case number AF instead or AS would that be a problem in receiving the visa
December 25, 2018 at 18:12
Yes that is a problem that would lead to disqualification UNLESS you were married to someone from Egypt at the time of entry.
December 25, 2018 at 20:43
Yes I married from Egypt at the entry time
December 26, 2018 at 00:03
OK – well it is critical that you say THAT was the reason you chose Egypt.
December 24, 2018 at 19:26
Hi simons : my interview date december 5 and me and my family interviewed . They approved and congragulation but after one weeks they call and say that submmet two documment divorse and birth date confirmation certificate becuase they sayed that your dv history in 2010 fill with other wife and birth date diferent from now so dicleare both
December 24, 2018 at 20:56
Interesting. So – they found your entry from DV2010 and realized you had a different wife at that time. So now they want proof you divorced that wife. Seems logical. Is there a problem?
December 25, 2018 at 05:15

Brit
I find Reyan’s issue interesting too, how do one’s previous edv entries affect his/her current situation even though you dint get to be selected at any one given point?
December 26, 2018 at 11:41
man they have record of every entrry of past . if selected they will check that . as itself says its a lottery man no effort for selection . so if you lied in past entry they can catch you.

They use whatever information they have to make sure you are telling the truth.

Hello! 🙂
Ds 260 number is the confirmation number of ds260 or is another number ?
Thank you
December 24, 2018 at 20:54
The DS260 has a confirmation number shown on the final page after submission.

December 24, 2018 at 21:16

Sorry for not giving you the clue, I was a little bit stressed up. I can’t access my DS260 page for submission. Thanks

1. click REPLY so your messages stay in context.
2. Your second attempt at asking for help is an ambiguous as the first. I really don’t have a lot of time spare – so, if you want an answer, be clear.

Hello Brit! I’m having problem in submitting my DS260. Please any help?
December 24, 2018 at 16:07
Oooh, yes. I like these games.
You tell me you have a problem, and NO OTHER INFORMATION about the problem, then I am supposed to guess the problem and help you resolve it! Such fun!
But… you might want to give me a clue…

Season Greetings Brit, please kindly advice ,AS14xx i have summited my ds260 ,and kcc already sent email to send required document.. meanwhile i have decided not to pursue the immigration status (reason being that i have seen people denied due to there educational score expecially in maths or english) .. 1. do i need to email kcc and explain my reason for not continue ? 2. do i need to email kcc and unlock but i think my case should be current? i am previledge to have a us tourist visa and which i believe i can visit anytime .. if i try to pursue this dv visa and got denied i may loose the chance of getting tourist visa in future… please your assistant and advice will be highly appreciated

The risk to future non immigrant visas happened the day you submitted the ds260. You cannot undo that. So, you can let kcc know, but it won’t change anything.
