January 7, 2019 at 14:34
1. We don’t know – buy obviously the new procedure has had some impact.
2. Possibly.

Greetings: Just curious if working for a federal employer such as USPS allow folks who work for it for a certain amount of time decrease the 5 year waiting period to apply for a citizenship. Thank you.

Hi Sir
Happy new year
my sister is DV 2019 winner from the AF region. Her case number is AF0003xx. I filled in her DS260 and saved it( without submission to kcc). months later, I try to log back in to make some changes but to my out most suprise, the system says the record does not exist. However, I can still check her
results from the edv site and it shows that she’s a winner. Can you help me out? if you like I can send her credentials for you the check for yourself. Pls help us out!
January 6, 2019 at 17:08
It happens sometimes. Send it to me at britsimon3 at gmail if you want me to check it.
January 6, 2019 at 12:50
Will the partial government shutdown have any negative impact on the 2NLs?
January 6, 2019 at 15:16
Possibly. It depends how long it goes on for.
January 6, 2019 at 08:01
Hi BritSimon,
The principal applicant got frauded by the agency who submitted her Entry Form and now this agency requires a lot money to continue her case till Interview. Applicant didn’t agree to pay them, but she got her Case Number by some way and submitted her DS-260 form and permenantly locked it. Currently she doesn’t have a Confirmation Number of her Entry Form, the Agency doesn’t want to give it. 2NL will come to the email indicated on Entry Form or to the email that she put on DS-260?
What can you advice for this case? How can she check her status of interview date without having access to the page of DV Entrant Status?
January 6, 2019 at 11:26
She can enter the dvlottery.state.gov website and click CHECK STATUS, then she must fill her name and surname, and click FORGOT CONFIRMATION number, and she will get her confirmation number! She will get the email on the email indicated on Entry Form.
I hope this helps..
January 6, 2019 at 12:55
Hi Euregion,
Thank you for your time to reply my question.
Unfortunately the email address that was put on the Entry Form is Agency’s, she doesn’t access on it.
So there are no other ways of solution?
January 6, 2019 at 15:15
Agents know that. Typically they are stupid enough to inform the applicant of the email address used.
January 6, 2019 at 16:54
The agent never gives the email and password to Applicant to get her access. Agent and Applicant are enemy to each other now.
January 6, 2019 at 13:50
Does she provide all necessary document to kcc at time ds-260 form (if provided)then
2NL will come on email that she put on DS-260 form
where are you from….?
January 6, 2019 at 14:16
She did, and she also sent the scanned copies of all necessary papers to KCC.
Even if she get the 2NL to her email, it doesn’t give the details about the date and time of interview. As I know in order to get all these details she should have access to the Check Status.
January 6, 2019 at 14:32
Hey Abu,
Tell her to write them they will tell her her date of appointment. It happen with friend he. I think if she has the case number it is the main thing
January 6, 2019 at 17:05
Thank you so much! She will definitely write to KCC and see what will happen.
January 6, 2019 at 15:10
The email does not have the interview details (time and date) The only thing to do in that case is to contact KCC and see if they will provide the interview details. However, there is a lot of risk anyway. Was the applicant a party to the entry and therefore all the details/photo is correct?
January 6, 2019 at 17:01
According to the Applicant’s words everything were entered correct, the thing that she didn’t agree is to pay $3000 to Agent just for submitting DS-260 form and translating her documents. That’s too much.

January 5, 2019 at 01:48
Hi Brit,
2 quick questions for you:
1. Once your visa has been approved and passport has been received, is there any other requirements one must complete prior to entering the United States to activate the LPR status? (Apart from paying the UCIS Immigrant Fee and booking flights obviously)?
2. In the confirmation email sent to me by the consulate there was a passage about “annotation information” with 3 categories. (IV Documents in CCD), (IV Documents in CCD Class A or Class B Medical) & (All other Annotations). The first category it states you will only need to enter with a passport and visa, the second it states you will need to enter with passport, visa and yellow immigrant package containing only your medical and for the last one it states you will need to enter with all the above documentation AND all of the documentation provided on the day of your interview. These requirements were for the section labelled “All other annotations”.. however I don’t see any annotations on my visa apart from two stars **. My question is do you know which one would be relevant to me based on the information I have provided you with?
Apologies for the long-winded passage, I tried to make the question and information as clear and concise as possible for your reference. Thanks again for your help and this wonderful service you provide.
January 5, 2019 at 04:16
1. No
2. Just present the package from the embassy.
January 5, 2019 at 04:30
Thanks very much mate.
January 4, 2019 at 20:02
Does the US governnent shutdown affect the dV visa process..?
January 4, 2019 at 20:12
Possibly.
January 4, 2019 at 19:22
Happy new year and marry Christmas, I wish U all the best. Hello dear Simon, I’m Nino from Tbilisi, Georgi. I would like to ask a question. I’m waiting turn for my interview, but my Case number is 29940, and I wonder if I’ll be asked for this interview, (and approximately when it happened) because, as I know, last year the interviews stoped at Case number 26000.Thanks for your response. Best regards.
January 4, 2019 at 19:42
I don’t know. Right now we are collecting the data from CEAC that will help us know more, but for your number the reality is you will have to wait some months to know more.
January 4, 2019 at 15:40
Hello simon sir, is it compulsory to go state of sponsor after your visa is approved or we can go any state in usa? Does it cause problem in poe?
January 4, 2019 at 15:49
No.
January 4, 2019 at 13:41
Hello Brit, wish you and your family a happy new year!
Please clear up this question for me:
I received my DV Visa as a single person (my Visa has my marital status listed as SNG). I married BEFORE entering the U.S first and activating my DV Visa. Will it affect my status in any way? (I am worried about the “Marital Status: SNG” part).
Thank you a lot in advance

January 4, 2019 at 12:52
I appeal to you for help. I live in Ukraine and
I was informed about winning the Green Card Lottery. I know that you know how intermediaries act with us. In my case, they require 6 thousand dollars and a thousand prepayment. I can not agree to such conditions . At the forum I read that you can find out Case Number cusing the script by brute force. Please help me automate this process. I try to do it myself, but it will take me 5-6 months. Thanks in advance Khrystyna.
January 4, 2019 at 15:08
I cannot help with that. If you were interested in the lottery you should have entered yourself. The agent has control because you did not do that – so really – you didn’t get enter or get selected anyway.
January 4, 2019 at 11:21
This is just a message to all the DIV community.
Most of should have read Simon’s further request and plea to help with the scraping effort.
He is not asking a lot – in fact it is quite simple and quick to do.
Over the past year I have followed most comments and questions – and almost 90% of them always sound so grateful , not to mention the many thanks and blessings he gets etc etc
But to be frank – actions usually mean more than words.
And it is a bit selfish to only read and use this when one needs it for their own personal use or anxiety alleviation.
Simon and Xarthisius are doing to this – for FREE ! and in their own FREE TIME!
Save the thanks you’s and the blessings – rather take 5 minutes of your free time to do the scraping.
And in case you have any doubt or laziness in doing it – just take a minute to think how it would have been for you if this blog did not exist this past year .. how exactly would we all have been able to prep for the DIV

January 4, 2019 at 04:26

January 4, 2019 at 03:36
Generally nothing.
January 3, 2019 at 14:09
Hi! I am a DV 2019 lottery winner and my case number is 2019EU000094xx. I have submitted all documents required and I got an email saying: You have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.
Do you think I will be scheduled an interview on February? ( according to visa bulletin EU 10.000)
I’m a bit worried…
Also I wanted to thank you for your useful info and support.
January 3, 2019 at 15:55
Probably.
January 4, 2019 at 11:47
Hi Soch, did u get an appoinment for February?
January 3, 2019 at 13:44
Happy New Year Mr. Brit,
I have received an email from KCC asking for the following documents:
1. Passports biodata page of me and my family
2. Birth certificates
…military and conviction documents.
My challenge is that our passports are due to be ready in February.
Your advice please.
My case number is 2019AF8**
THANKS
January 3, 2019 at 15:55
You have to wait until you have the documents.
January 3, 2019 at 13:40
Hi Brit
happy new year. Please can you help me with these questions:
1. i activated my Green card (GC in august 2018 then left USA on the 5 Sept 2018, i want to go back to USA on the 30 Jan 2019, people say i will have problem with immigration because i left USA, is this true?
2. We are a family of 5, my wife, myself and 3 kids, oldest kid aged 13 years, because we will be new in USA with our GC we do not have jobs yet, do you feel we might qualify for medicaid and food stamp?
3. How easy is it to find a job? given the fact that we can speak English very well and have GC, how many months would it take us to find a job in texas?
January 3, 2019 at 15:53
1. No. Stop listening to idiots.
2. You should NOT be entering the USA without a good plan. Choose where you will live to make sure there are plenty of jobs. Then take the jobs immediately. Take two or three jobs if needed. You need to support yourself.
3. There are plenty of jobs. What sort of job you take depends on your skills. Just remember that most people take a step back in their career when they come to a new country – so you have to be realistic about what jobs you will accept.
January 3, 2019 at 12:36
Hello brit happy new year to you
I got a question
So i filled in mt ds 260 in the form that says what work will you do in usa
I wrote driving construction company and etc
My vision is petty awfull,i am not legally blind but i dont know if ill be able to take the visio test and get the license in usa
So should i unlock my ds260 and delete it or not and could that be a reason for refusal of visa ?
Thank you so much i know it sound idiotic but im worried please answer
January 3, 2019 at 15:50
For the visa, it doesn’t matter what you say you are going to do. BUT you have to have a realistic plan about how you will make a living. America is not a great place to live if you are not able to make money.
January 3, 2019 at 17:05
Thank you so much for your answer and time, so if i leave driving written in the ds it wont be a problem then,i am asking it because before the interview i will have to take medical examination and they will send the result to the embassy so i m just worried about vision test
Thank you again
January 3, 2019 at 11:34
Greetings
Please I am a Ghanaian born Togolese my wife is a Ghanaian won the Dv as a Togolese by marriage what can we do
January 3, 2019 at 15:42
Since Togo and Ghana are both in the same region there is no problem. However, you must prepare well for you interview with genuine documents.
January 3, 2019 at 17:14
A friend o mine had similar case. documentation was okay but when asked in Ghana where he applied he said in Togo but his IP according to the Embassy was Ghana. After a debate among the CO behind the counter they denied him for lying so please be truthful
January 3, 2019 at 17:45
Ghana embassy sees a lot of liars, so they routinely deny cases that are suspicious.
January 3, 2019 at 10:38
Hi Simon
I am awaiting 2nl which may happen in April or May by my estimation.
I have done the process as a SOuth African citizen.
However I may want I travel to he US before April.
Is it a problem if I use my Greek passport to obtain an ESTA for the trip I am planning ? In my DS application I have furnished details of both passports and citizenships.
January 3, 2019 at 15:40
No problem.
January 3, 2019 at 08:27
Dear Brit, if husband and wife together they made around 50K in last year tax return can sponsor me by putting their joint income . Being only one as a sponsor and submitting his documents but showing joint income . Will that be possible for i134 ??

January 3, 2019 at 08:04
I HAVE FAILED TO RETRIEVE MY CONFIRMATION NUMBER.
I WENT TO THE WEBSITE AND FILLED ALL THE INFORMATION PREVIOUSLY USED TO REGISTRATION FOR 2019 Green card but it keeps telling me that my information is not the same.

But, there is nothing I can do if you are unable to follow the instructions.
January 3, 2019 at 06:34

January 3, 2019 at 15:22
It’s a bad idea.
January 2, 2019 at 22:36
Hi Brit,
I followed the link and as you said it’s written (at NVC). You advised us to ignore the text.
I should ignore it ? even if it said: Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa ??
Or I should follow the 6 steps? :))))))
Thanks for your patience and understanding
January 3, 2019 at 00:19
What part of “ignore it” is confusing?
January 2, 2019 at 20:07
Dear Sir,
Today I received message from kcc telling me to send documents : passport, birth certificate, police ceritificate.
My case is not current yet 2019AF23XXX.
I am just wondering about the police certificate knowing it will expire after three month.
Kindly
January 2, 2019 at 20:17
The police certs are OK for 6 months generally – but if needed you can submit the police cert now and update it (get a new one) for the interview.

January 2, 2019 at 15:15

January 2, 2019 at 10:41
Updating for my previous post
I have asked you if I will be interviewed in Cairo as per my selection on Ds260 form or as my address in kuwait and you told my will be in kuwait unless I contacting KCC before receiving 2nl
I did that as per your advised and sent to them the supporting documents to verify that , same day they replayed on my email informing me that the location has been changed as requested
Last week I received my 2nl and the interview location in Cairo as requested
Thanks a lot for your advice 🙂
January 2, 2019 at 15:14
Well done.

January 2, 2019 at 15:13

No – get a new sponsor.
January 2, 2019 at 07:49

January 2, 2019 at 15:12

January 2, 2019 at 06:09
Hey brit,
2019AS34XX
I am principle applicant. I have all my documents ready. I have already submitted my DS260 along with my wife in June. My number may get current in the next VB. But so far I have not received letter asking for documents which others have received. As you have written in your blog to submit the documents anyway, I am going to do the same.
1. My spouse’s DOB is B.S. 2050.06.04 (A.D. 1993 Sep 20).
In birth certificate it is B.S. 2050.06.04 (A.D. 1993 Sep 20) which is correct.
Due to mistake in date conversion between B.S. and A.D., in her citizenship it is B.S. 2050.06.04 (A.D. 1993 Sep 30) and since passport is prepared on the basis of citizenship it is 1993 Sep 30 which is wrong.
In DS260 I put 1993 Sep 30 by looking at the passport.
Since we both are abroad, we are little worried. How should I handle this? Since we won’t get scheduled unless we submit the documents, whether to correct it and submit or submit corrected one in the interview? And how this two will impact my case?
Hope you’ll guide me this time also. Have a good day brit!
January 2, 2019 at 15:11
The passport should be corrected, but you can submit the documents as is.
January 3, 2019 at 05:46
Thanks brit! I’ll submit the documents and will correct it for the interview. Hope it won’t create any problem
.
January 2, 2019 at 05:49
Hi Simon when is AF23k likely to become current or which months bulletin. May God bless you
January 2, 2019 at 15:09
Wait and see.
January 2, 2019 at 05:18
Hi Simon,
Happy new year to you and your family,
I am a DV winner 2018, got my GC, am divorced, am planing to marry a lady I know and she is a US citizen. Does that qualify me to apply for citizenship after 3 years instead of 5?
Thank you
January 2, 2019 at 15:08
No.
January 2, 2019 at 03:44
Hello Brit!
I am current for February but I haven’t submitted my DS260 yet.
The reason is that I previously wanted to do CP but my situation changed as I moved to the US.
Right now I want to switch to AOS and submit my DS260 but I can’t find how to change the interview location from my country to the US :/ (the radio button is greyed out)
Do you have any idea of how I could achieve that?
Thank you!
January 2, 2019 at 04:48
STOP!
You cannot enter on most temp visas with an intention to adjust status. You need to understand what you are doing before you mess the whole thing up! You need to be clear about your situation and be very careful.
January 2, 2019 at 04:50
I advised you about this before. Follow the link I gave you.
https://britsimonsays.com/ask-questions/comment-page-259/#comment-132898
January 2, 2019 at 05:54
Sorry I should have described a bit more my situation:
The visa I am in with is an E2, which allows adjustment of status (it only requires one more form to be filled, I believe).
I have first entered the US with it at the end of October but I have been back to France for the holidays and only re-entered a few days ago. I understand that I might need to wait a bit before I submit my DS260 (and specifying AOS) but I still need to figure out how to change the interview location for that :/
I have checked the thread you linked (and read the google doc, not the entire thread yet) but it does not cover my particular issue it seems
My issue is closer to what you describe here: https://britsimonsays.com/faq/how-to-change-interview-location/, except I haven’t submitted the DS260 yet
January 2, 2019 at 15:10
The DS260 is not very important to AOS cases. You do not select a USA based office because the DS260 shows EMBASSIES. So – read the thread I gave you – it is important you understand the differences/process.
January 2, 2019 at 02:31
Dear Sir
I am Dv winner of 2019. My case number is around 39**. I have submitted ds 260 online form but there I made a mistake that is I wrote mistake email address of mine. And after a month I submitted my police report, birth certificate and passport from my new email address. That time I received automatically reply email from kcc in my new email address but so far I haven’t received document complete email. In this situation what should I do. Is mistaking email address is a big problem for further selection?

Hi Simon,
I’m a 2019 DV selectee from Liberia in West Africa. I am a bit worried about whether I will be scheduled for interview due to my case number. My number is in 46,000 (2019AF00046xxx).
Can I get some information or guidance from you?
January 2, 2019 at 04:45
You have to be patient. That is all.
January 1, 2019 at 17:20
Dear simon sir, at time of interview can i show consular i have two sponsor and ask them to select which one is ok so that my case will not be denied..
January 2, 2019 at 04:42
No – just learn about the required income and submit the one that makes sense.
January 1, 2019 at 16:23
Dear Sir,
First, we all thank you for great website and information.
I would very appreciate if you can help me with my situation. I went to United States last September to activate my green card and I will go back to United States this year-spring.
Can you please tell me if there are any other responsibilities towards United States government I should do, to keep my status for green card? I know one thing is to report tax.
Also my friend to whom my green card was mailed, moved to other house. I filed AR-11 form online to change address, was it necessary? I received my green card and social security card, when he was in his previous address.
Thank you Sir!

January 6, 2019 at 13:37
Thank you Sir.
I was not sure if was necessary to file AR11 form online(change of address) because I am currently out of US(until spring when I move for permanently) – the address changed is of my friend that lives in US and changed address.
1) Can please Sir, confirm if AR11 online form was needed? or was only needed if I was now living in US and I was changing address?
2)Also can you advise if will I receive reply to email if AR11 form was approved?
3) do I also need to change address for Social Security card or not?
If you can please reply Sir, you help me a lot. Thank you Dear Sir.
January 6, 2019 at 15:17
1. Only if living in the US
2. There is no approval
3. No
January 6, 2019 at 21:07
Thank very much Sir. Your answers helped me a lot!
Because I am out of US and filed an AR11 form online, will I have problem with my greencard status?
I am asking Sir, because being outside US now, they may not see it with a good eye.
Thank you again Sir.
January 6, 2019 at 21:24

Dear Brit , Validity to enter USA after granting visa is for six months . Is it from the date of visa issued on passport or from the date medical done. From which date we have to calculate six months?

Hi I just received your latest email notifying that we are now able to check our visa status. You mentioned to remove the 0’s from our confirmation number to find out our status however, I don’t have any 0’s in my confirmation number. Can you please tell me how I am to proceed ? Thank you

Yes you DO have **leading** zeros. Look at your number from the 1NL.

I am 19 and I applied to the DV2020 with my mother and father.
We are from Italy.
Is it possible to calculate an estimated chance of win based on past DVs?

About 1 in 100 to 200 years, for each person.

Hi Mr. Brit. Happy New Year. I went to an interview without a higher school diploma. Will be taken the exams in June. The Co. Asked me to bring it when it’s ready. Probably in August. They kept my documents at the embassy. What do you think about this? I’m worried. Thanks
December 31, 2018 at 15:36
It was predictable. You have not reached the qualification needed yet. The CO is being kind. You have some risk because it is going to be so late – but again – that was obviously predictable.

Please what you obviously predictable? About?
December 31, 2018 at 17:31
Dude, predictable is simon knew it if your case would go to AP because of your Education qualification. *The CO is being kind* the CO had a right to reject your Visa at time but he was being KIND, which means you are the lucky ones he still gives you time to collect your document. Because a lot of ppl lack of documents, gets rejected instantly. but your case is different.
That’s my opinion on your posts here,
correct me if I’m wrong
if right, im saving your time Mr.Britt
Happy New Year!!

Hi, Brit and happy new year! I have a couple of doubts and if you could help me i’d appreciate it:
1*I’m about to pay the fees for the GC and I was wondering if I could change the address online or if the only option is waiting to make any changes at POE.
2*I’m aware that since April USPS requires an authorization for a third person receiving the GC, do you know if it is the same procedure for the Social Security? I was wondering if a relative in the States could receive the SS for me without authorization.
All of this because I will enter the States for the activation and then return for a few months to make the last arrangements.

1. At POE.
2. No it does not apply to the SSN
