Hello Brit,
A Yes or No question,
Is there any link between the gaps this year and the derivatives? Meaning if case number 2020AF000001 is a family of 4 persons, that means that the next case number will be 2020AF000005?
Thanks in advance
July 14, 2019 at 15:08

Hi birit I have 2 questions:
1_my husband he is the main applicant and he don’t have birth certificate but he do have like Certificate of appreciation of age,is is will be accepted by KCC and the embassy or he have to get the original birth certificate? And all his paper and passport by the age for the appreciation certificate.
2_im living her in the us as pending asylee and I decided that I will join my husband in the interview so I will get travel documents,my question is which current address do I have to but since I’m still in the us but I will leave after we will receive the 2nd letter .
July 14, 2019 at 15:17
1. I can’t answer that – I don’t know your country or the laws in that country.
2. It doesn’t matter – it will be based on his address.
July 14, 2019 at 21:09
When i applied for diversity Visa lottery i think i put a different surname for my mother, and i put the one that is right on the ds 260,is that a problem or what should i do? Best regards
July 14, 2019 at 21:36
Relax. Not a problem.
July 14, 2019 at 15:33
Hello Sir.
I don’t have the High School Degree which is mandatory as I have heard in the US consulate in Morocco Africa.
But I know there is another option in order to be qualified which is 2 years work experience – job zone 4 or 5. As I read in the webiste.
I want to know if being a Transport Company Manager is designated as Job Zone 4 or 5, classified in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) rating of 7.0 or higher.
I already searched in their webiste many times but I could not find this job or any job that is entitled “company” or “company manager”
But I found this lately, I am not sure if they mean company manager or not.
https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/11-3071.01
Please tell me if I am qualified or not ?
July 14, 2019 at 15:38
You would search under transport.

Simon,
I am currently a student in the US on a F1 visa but that will expire in September this year and I will be moving back to Europe, until I (hopefully) will be issued the green card.
I have two questions:
1: Should I fill out and send the DS260 form now immediately (using my current US address even though I will be moving soon) or would it make more sense to wait until I move? My case is 2020EU39xxx, and in the August visa bulletin they say applicants should “act quickly”. Until a few days ago I was sure I could wait considering my high number but now? I guess I could ask KCC to unlock the DS once I have moved, or just wait?
2: I know I need to get a police report from my home country, but would I also need one from the US? I am guessing no but just want to make sure.
Thank you for all your hard work with this website, so helpful for a lot of people!
July 14, 2019 at 17:02
1. No need to rush – wait until you move. Your number means you will wait until next summer anyway.
2. No police certs for the USA.
July 14, 2019 at 17:27
Dear Simon,
i would like to ask if i made a mistake on the first entry about names and dates of Birth but on my all documents

July 14, 2019 at 18:18

July 14, 2019 at 17:58
Hi simon
Iam Sudanese, I have problem in country of Eligibilty I do it Sudan but I was born in Uae
my case number comes 2020AF57xxx
And he must comes 2020AS
I want to now is this can give me a reject in interview, its a problem I do it Sudan because in the first registration I not understand the question
July 14, 2019 at 18:19
Unless you were married to someone from AF region at the time of the entry you WILL be disqualified.
July 15, 2019 at 07:21
You said there are 2 reasons this can be ok!
Either marriage or both parents lived legally in the country of birth but had (in this case, Sudanese passports)!
No offence Simon but I remember reading this in the application form too! I’m facing the same situation btw.
July 16, 2019 at 00:17
You are misunderstanding or misrepresenting what I have said.
What I have described is called the missionary exception. That is when the birth country is NOT eligible, and neither of the parents were born in the country of birth of the child AND can prove they were only in the country of birth for a temporary period.
That is NOT the case here – simply because UAE is eligible – so that exception cannot be applied – hence why I said there was only one reason.
July 14, 2019 at 18:13
Can you estimate how long I’ll wait for the interview if my case number is 2020AF9xxx?
July 14, 2019 at 18:55
Not long, depends on your DS260 and documents – so maybe October to December.
July 14, 2019 at 18:48
Hi simon
I sent my form in July
When sending documents is a PDF file ?
July 14, 2019 at 18:56
They send you full instructions…
July 14, 2019 at 22:33

July 15, 2019 at 00:43

Normally a family share and address.

Hi Bri, I appreciate your effort for explaining the DV process
Can I ask some advice? I Won the Dv 2020 I’m Venezuelan living in Australia, my case number is OC20xx, so this doesn’t match with my country, I probably make a mistake in the country of chargeability, could I continue with de process or not because is a big mistake that will disqualified me?
July 15, 2019 at 03:41
Yes, you made a mistake. Unless you were married to someone from the OC region at the time of entry, you are CERTAIN to be disqualified.
July 15, 2019 at 03:36
Hi Simon,
I’m qualified to the program through both the education and work experience (Engineering with required SPA and Job Zone) which should be the primary occupation? (Student or Engineering)?
Thank you.
July 15, 2019 at 03:46
Primary occupation is what you do – so do you work for a living or are you a student?
July 15, 2019 at 03:56
Currently i’m following my masters in part time and working as a senior software engineer (full time) from 3 years now.
July 15, 2019 at 03:59
So – you have your answer…
July 15, 2019 at 04:02
In work experience right? 🙂
July 15, 2019 at 03:55
Hi BritSimon,
Currently, I have completed my BEng four years degree and now i’m following my MBA. Do i need to include both under “Number of Educational Institutions Attended” in DS-260? or the completed one only?
Thanks.

All completed schooling from age 12 and up.

July 15, 2019 at 05:54
I am one of the DV2019 winners and my case became current in July (EU29XXX), I am currently in legal status in US, so I do AOS. My attorney sent all the required papers with I-485 by mid June, however USCIS didn’t replied yet to us, didn’t cashed my check. Anyone has any idea how long it takes for USCIS to accept a I-485 and start working on it? Is there enough time to get the green card via AOS (2.5 months) until the end of 2019FY ?
July 15, 2019 at 16:44
They would normally have cashed the check by now. There is enough time if your lawyer has done things properly.
July 15, 2019 at 06:31
Dear Brit,
For a DV2020 winner with a very high case number, Can i apply for DV2021 with the same passport number that i have submitted in my DS-260? you know this new procedure for DV2021 that you have to write your passport number in your application making me a little bit worried.
July 15, 2019 at 16:57
Yes – there is no harm applying for DV2021
July 15, 2019 at 07:19
Dear Brit.

Thank you.
July 16, 2019 at 00:13
1. January is OK.
2. A month or two after that for the 2NL.
July 16, 2019 at 09:20
Thank you
July 15, 2019 at 07:42
Hello Dear Brit I have a problem, I have a children of 5 years but her mother she is not in law so I was not enter my children in my first entry because I will not go with my children because she’s still young but I entered my children in DS because some time she will come in USA so for that issue it will affect me? Thank you.
Kind regards.
July 16, 2019 at 00:19
You have committed an error which is certain to cause disqualification. There is no fix. The child should have been listed and the instructions are very clear that denial will be the result. You should not proceed any further with the case.
July 15, 2019 at 09:59
Dear Simon
I am the main applicant and i have submitted the ds 260 for my self, my child & wife. For wife i have entered her personal email for her application and for me and for the child i have mentioned my personal email since she is 4 years old. Is that ok or do i need to mentioned the same email address for all 3 forms. Thanks for your time..
July 16, 2019 at 00:30
That is all fine.
July 16, 2019 at 02:25
Thank you…
July 15, 2019 at 10:29
Hi dear Brit,
I have a question regarding to the child applicant for DV2020. We have filled out ds 260 form for my wife and for myself. However we have also one child for 1 month old, the question is, we add applicant for him also , but we dont know how to fill out informations for him, because he is just 1 month and we have only birth certificate for him nothing else. Please support us on this case.
Thank you for your understanding and patience
July 15, 2019 at 16:21
Go and have your child’s passport made as fast as you could. I experience the same thing you do. My child is just nearly two moths old. Now, my child’s passport was alreay made.
July 18, 2019 at 08:48
The problem is in our country we can not have passport till 16 years old. We have only birth certificate.
July 18, 2019 at 09:52
So no child from your country travels?
July 18, 2019 at 09:58
Travelling with parent’s passport .
July 18, 2019 at 10:02
So you can check with the embassy if that is acceptable.
July 19, 2019 at 05:12
Please read on below what KCC answered to me
Should I write down my own details and passport issue 🙁 please support me on this case .
Each applicant must personally sign his/her own DS-260. However, if a child is not capable of signing the DS-260 themselves due to age limitations, either parent may sign the DS-260 on their behalf.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
July 19, 2019 at 05:54
Did I say check with KCC?
July 19, 2019 at 14:02
Dear Araz,
Recently, making passport in your country seems like my country within a few year ago. Old version of my country passport was not allowed to issue to young age kid. And then for example, if I want my young kid traveling out side the country with us (family), I will need to add the mentioned kid into my passport my wife’s passport.
Note: We can’t add the young kid into our passport by our own but we will need to go directly to our country immigrant department, passport unit to ask them to have our kid added into our passport (it can be my passport or my wife’s passport but not both). What they will do to add kid into parent’s passport was just to write down the kid full name, sex, birth of date/age, and glueing/sticking with new photo of kid. The final step was the authorization of an authorized person by stamped and signed.
However, this was my country process in the past within a few years ago with the old version of passport but now passport can be issued to young age kid after birth. I’m not sure it could be the same.
What I would like to recommend you to do is to contact your involved unit or department in your country in which they are responsible for making or issuing passport to clarify this case.
Hope you would do it well.
Have a nice day,
July 16, 2019 at 00:31
You can either wait until you have the passport for the child OR submit earlier with one of the parents passport numbers.
July 18, 2019 at 08:50
what about any other form questions ? number , email etc,, everything the same with my form to fill ? even workplace? education?
July 18, 2019 at 09:53
Just answer the questions.
July 18, 2019 at 09:56
Thank you so much. I really appreciate to hear news from you .

So you can check with the embassy if that is acceptable.
Dear Brit regarding to the embassy in our country does not operate anything about green card, However our country is responsible to go to Georgia (country) to have an interview and all that procedures.
Thank you for your respond .
Wish you the best guys…
July 15, 2019 at 10:54

July 15, 2019 at 10:56
Hey brit. I have been selected for dv process.
When I want to fill ds 260 it says that case number is not available.
My case number is 2020AS00016×××.
Another question my children date of birth is 2 months changed in dv lottery and passport.
Is this a problem in process.
July 16, 2019 at 00:35
1. Read this – https://britsimonsays.com/dv2020-basic-questions/
2. No
July 15, 2019 at 11:37
Hi Brit,
During my interview the consular asked for extra documents (Documents of the person who signed the affidavit of support) , i provided that through email , then received an email saying that they received my documents and they are reviewing it.
It has been 1 month since i got that email , more than a month and half since my interview , and my case is still under administrative processing !!
What are your thoughts about my case?!
Thanks
July 16, 2019 at 00:36
My only thoughts are it is a shame you did not prepare correctly.
Other than that – you now have to wait.
July 15, 2019 at 11:47
Hello, Brit I want some advice. I have three names, Way back in the year 2004, I registered the DV Lottery with only two of my names, I didn’t win actually but from 2010 coming, I enter each registration with all my three names and I’m still not winning. I wanna ask if I may need to do something’s that’s going to help me win or is the sudden change of name that is affecting my winning ?
July 16, 2019 at 00:38
The chances of winning the lottery are once in 200 years. It may be nothing to do with your names.
July 15, 2019 at 12:13
Hello Brit
I have submitted my DV lottery 2020,pls how long will it take for my interview to be shaduled

Brit,
My case keeps updating everyday since Thursday 11th July on ceac status but still on AP. This is after receiving an email from the embassy that my AP is completed and should forward our passports back which was done on10th July. I think the status should change from AP to ready by now?
July 15, 2019 at 16:08
@Kilo, you are about to be issued. You should have your visas issued by Thursday. Cheers!
July 16, 2019 at 00:44
@Cyborg. On what do you base that idiotic answer?
July 16, 2019 at 00:39
Patience.
July 16, 2019 at 18:25
Bro, do remember Mr brit always said here the embassy will ask the KCC to assign you a new visa numbers, like he used to say only what you have to do is to WAIT.
If the embassy does not want to give you they won’t ask you to drop passports
July 15, 2019 at 14:48
How mony time i check it this dv lottery price from the coformation letter?
July 16, 2019 at 00:40
I have no idea what you are asking.
July 15, 2019 at 15:54
When filling out the DS-260 there’s a question about health workers. I’m currently a veterinary student, graduating in a few months – is this considered a health worker or only human health workers?
Thanks!
July 16, 2019 at 00:43
It’s a trivial question. Just pick an answer.
July 15, 2019 at 16:15
Dear Brit,
I went in to have my visa pick-up today and its a shame I saw all 4 passports and visas but upon checks by the DHL agent, she realized my immigrant sealed envelope has only been closed with the glued flap on the envelope. She said they were supposed to have been fixed with a stamp and a sellotape. For this reason she has to return it to the consulate for them to stamp and tape it with the sellotape.
1. Has this happened to anyone in Ghana before?
2. How long does it usually take to have your documents returned?
3. Does this mean my case update on CEAC would revert to Administrative Processing?
4. Would the visas be revoked or reprinted as a results?
I hope this is not a problem though.
July 16, 2019 at 00:44
1. How would I know that?
2. How would I know that?
3. No
4. No
July 15, 2019 at 16:33
Hi,
I am DV2020 selectee. My wife was abroad for her studies for total of 6 years. In that case, do we need to submit police report from the country she studied ? Or Police reports is only for the primary applicant !
July 16, 2019 at 00:45
Yes. Police reports for all adults – read the instructions.
July 15, 2019 at 19:19
Hi,
In regards the job experience for DV. Two possible situations for you:
1.What if your job in 2017 is rated correctly to be used for the DV lottery, but in the previous 2 years you have been promoted from a different role which is still okay to be used? Example one year you were Assistant Store Manager and next year Store general Manager? would it qualify? because are the same in the same category.
2. What if in two years you moved from a recognised job (Store Manager) (one category) to Commercial Manager (recognised but different category) would qualify? and which category would you choose? the first or the last?
Thanks,
laura
July 16, 2019 at 01:05
Oh my/. I hate hypothetical questions because they can be endless.
It is based on actual experience in the actual position.
July 15, 2019 at 19:20
Hi
After I requested KCC to unlock my form ,how long it will take to unlock and how I can know they do unlock my form ?
July 16, 2019 at 01:06
2 days to 2 weeks. They email you, or you just check.

July 15, 2019 at 20:56
Hi Brit, I submitted DS260 form with adjustments status. Now my situation is changed and I have to come back to my country on January for few months. My visa will expire in January 2020, I won’t be able to extend this visa for another year( first thought was to extend for whole 2020 that’s why I filled my form with status adjustment ) My case number is EU29***. Do you think that I should wait with unlock my form to changed for CP process until January, when I could add my current address in my country or do it now with my current address in USA ? Thank you for much in advance ! 🙂
July 16, 2019 at 01:10
Contact KCC and tell them you want to unlock your form and switch to CP.
July 15, 2019 at 21:32
Hi Brit…i am in serious confusion n pain. I was lucky to win Dv 2019af10*** I went to my interview and was asked to show documents which I did. I was placed on AP for 10 days, after which a team of people were sent to my house for background check. They came around and met a neighbor with her child outside my gate which was closed with lock at d time. They asked questions about my marital status and the lady replied that I am single without a child but unfortunately for me they completely miss the point by seeing the said lady and child as mine. I was shocked to this day that such a thing happened to me. I have provided evidences numbering up to 12 items all listing my single status which includes employment letters, anti corruption commission documents, my social security documents, past years (old entries) DV entries copy showing single no child, facebook chats with my girl friend in USA, whatsapp chats ( both social media information have photos, calls and chats showing intentions of my desire to marry her . moneygram and western union transfer to and from my girlfriend, NVC INTERVIEW letter, selection letter, bank account details, the family photos of the lady they (background checkers) interviewed showing her husband and child , facebook page of the lady ,my ds260 confirmation page etc. I was told verbally by the CO that I failed to mention my wife and child (Refused under 212,section 5a)
My Qualifications is a high school certificate West Africa recognized paper for entry to university (full requirements) , university Degree
Employee of a famous government institution in the country and with over 12 years of working experience. JUST THIS SINGLE LIE ON MY HEAD HAS COST ME A GREAT DEAL. I have been forwarding these evidences but no response.
Question :1 what is your take on this Sir
Please advice me!!!!!!!
July 16, 2019 at 01:15
So they decide that the woman and child were most likely your spouse/child. I have no way to judge whether they were correct or not. If you want to you could speak to a local lawyer to get assistance in contacting the embassy – but you need to understand that the embassy do NOT have to allow any sort of appeal.
July 15, 2019 at 23:21
Hi Brit…I am in confusion
Embassy send me the following link and that is not accessible I try to call and email no answer they send as follows

Please reply using this email chain as opposed to creating a new email so we have a complete record of all information pertinent to your case. You may check the status of your case online by visiting http://redirect.state.sbu/?url=https://ceac.state.gov

Hi Simon
I am the winner of DV2019 and I have already sent the required documents to KCC for review as well. Early of July I have got an email from KCC that my documents were OK and asked to wait for receiving next instruction for final stage of interview. Due to my police certificate will be expired by the early of August and the interview might be happened in September, I therefore would like to ask for advise that Do I need to make a new police certificate ?
In my country the validity of Police Certificate has only 3 months.
Thanks for your kind and have a nice day

To avoid risk – get a new police cert.

When you become an LPR (from the DV program), how soon can you sponsor other family members – a parent for example, or a brother in another example.
Lets assume you wrap up from your home country and you bring across substantial £££ and you also get a good job / start earning IMMEDIATELY
You are able to buy a home with a low mortgage etc. etc.
How soon are you “recognised” to file to sponsor ANY extended family member – Parent, Brother, Sister namely?
If that is possible immediately, how soon is the average wait time for the case to be eventually reviewed and granted?

You will not be able to sponsor siblings or parents until you are a citizen – which takes 5 years of residence. Then the process for siblings currently has around a 10 year wait. Parents are faster.

Hello,
My case number is 2019EU23017 and I m based in Paris.
I received a message on June 14th saying that my ds 260 application is complete and valid.
But I still don’t have any news about my interview. I send a question 10 days ago but I had the same automatic answer « application complete and valid ». The July visa bulletin is released and still no news about an appointements at the embassy. What do you think I can do please ?
Thank you in advance

Hello Brit
My sponsor already sponsored one girl last year on October 2018 and he sponsored her for one year which means it will be over this upcoming October.
My interview is this August. Is it ok to sponsor me too.
July 16, 2019 at 13:00
Personally, I would recommend a different sponsor.

Your question is not clear. I don’t need all the history. Are KCC satisfied with your documents. Simple, yes or no.

You had presented fake documents to the US embassy and think they will now just forget that and give you a visa? Really?

Hello!
First of all, thanks for your time & help! I am trying to check the status and the system says “Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number.”. I am sure that I am using the correct one because I have the document with the number. Do you know if there is something not working?
Thanks,
Elena.

You are not being clear. Are you checking to see if you are a winner or what?
