Hi Simon!
I have one concern regarding DS-260 completion at Work/Education/Training Information section.
I’m a derivative (spouse) of DV2020 selectee. , I do not run any own business but just working for a Bank, as a position of loan supervisor. In DS-260, at Work/Education/Training Information section, there is on point asking about “primary occupation” with its drop-down list selection nearby. In the drop-down list, I could not find a close-match item for my current occupation as a loan supervisor at Bank except for “BUSINESS and OTHER” because I think I learn and obtain Bachelor Degree of Business Administration (BBA). So I decided to select “BUSINESS” for my primary occupation.
Note: the items in the drop-down list are; AGRICULTURE, ARTIST/PERFORMER, BUSINESS, COMPUTER SCIENCE, EDUCATION, ENGINEERING, GOVERNMENT, HOMEMAKER, MILITARY, MEDICAL/HEALTH, LEGAL PROFESSION, NOT EMPLOYED, NATURAL SCIENCE, RETIRED, RESEARCH, COMMUNICATION, STUDENT, OTHER, etc…
My concern is that it will cause any problem to my case?
Thanks,

December 4, 2019 at 16:45
Hi Brit Simon,
I have few questions related to DS260. CN is AS000021XXX. I did some minor adjustments on DS260 in Nov and submitted docs in Nov.
1. DS260 ask for Highest Level of Education Completed – Which I have CIM – UK (Postgraduate diploma in marketing).
2. Also I have completed GCE Advance Level (High school). So do I have to enter that also on DS260? (Since its asking “Number of Educational Institutions Attended”) Can I list both?
I have also has over 10 years of work experience (Which I have entered in DS260)
Thanks for your support.
Regards
BPD

Hi britsimon.Today was my interview. I was granted a visa. They gave a card saying you can grab your passport with visa on certain place in certain time. So happy. I am from Nepal. Want to thank you so much. Your site has been like a power house for me. Everything you say about DV documentation and interview has been like Gods word. Thank you again.
December 6, 2019 at 03:35
Congratulations!

December 4, 2019 at 17:58
Dear Simon,
I am writing to you because I have been selected for further processing in the diversity immigrant visa program. I noticed one of the required documents is a police certificate from a country I have resided in for more than 6 months. I lived in Saudi Arabia for almost 3 years . However, when I contacted the US embassy in Saudi Arabia, I was told I would not be able to obtain a police certificate since I no longer reside in the country. I am also unable to travel to Saudi Arabia. I was wondering if it will be an issue if I am unable to present the police certificate at my appointment with the embassy. Thank you in advance for your time.
P.S. This was the message I received from the US Embassy in Riyadh:
Exceptions: Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Kingdom.
December 6, 2019 at 03:36
The message is self explanatory. You are not expected to provide what they know is unavailable.

December 4, 2019 at 18:31
Hello!
I’ve taken a look before to write here, but does not find what I need.
So, this is my situation: I’m permanent resident in a country that is not my birth one. So I suppose that I can choose the local US Consulate to proceed in the event to be selected. My question is: the documents produced in my birth country, they need only to be translated in English or they need to be legalized too (I mean apostille)?
Thank you in advance
December 6, 2019 at 03:37
That depends on procedures in the country concerned.
December 4, 2019 at 18:54

December 6, 2019 at 03:42
Read the FAQ about reading the VB.
December 4, 2019 at 20:27
Hello Brit
I would like to ask that if the billing address is the same address that i will receive my documents at when i pay for the immigrant fee ? And is it a good thing to pay the immigrant fee now since i booked my flight on the 30th of march ? And if they issued my documents before i get into the US to what address i wrote they will send it ?
Thank you
December 6, 2019 at 03:43
You can pay now, or wait – it won’t make any difference.
The billing address is the address of the person who owns the credit card.
December 5, 2019 at 06:12
Hi Brit,
Can you please give me the idea about the time taken for processing I-130 form for spouse in present context. I heard that processing is faster than before but did not get any clear information how fast is process. My priority date is 19 Nov 2019. and processed at California Centre. How much time USCIS will take to approve I-130. i am from Nepal.
December 6, 2019 at 03:45
I only answer DV lottery questions.
December 5, 2019 at 06:36
Hi BritSimon,
Could you placed answer for this question?
why do you want to live in USA?
MANY THANKS
December 6, 2019 at 03:52
Are you asking me to give you an answer for that question? Well, OK, let’s see….
“Because NASA is in USA and I want to be a Space Cadet.”
Or – go with an answer of your own…

Hello Brit,
We moved to US in August 2019, still we didin’t receive my green card yet. What can I do?
December 6, 2019 at 03:54
Assuming you paid the fees ($220 per person), you should contact USCIS.
December 5, 2019 at 09:42
Hi Brit after you submit all documents how long does it take the kcc to send out the 2NL assuming that the documents were correct with the CN being current in the summer 5 months from now. And will there be enough visas for high CN numbers like mine by that time.AF63XXX
December 6, 2019 at 03:55
Please read the basic questions to understand how this works…
December 5, 2019 at 10:03
Hi Brit,
Hope you’re well!
I’m about to send my documents to KCC. I was wondering if it matters that my birth certificate is couple of years old? Would it be ok to send them this birth certificate online, and then give them a more recent one in the embassy?
Thanks,
A
December 6, 2019 at 03:56
Whatever is “normal” for documents in your country. It varies by country – my birth cert is 55 years old.
December 5, 2019 at 11:05
Hi Simon,
My wife won a greencard. We have a child but from my earlier marriage I have one more child which is not going to USA. I added my first child name/surname and etc in my profile in DS260 but mentioned she is not traveling. Should I list her as a separate one in the DS260 list or its ok not to list her separately in DS260 if I already mentioned she is not traveling? I mean if as a separate I should list 4 persons while I listed 3 persons in our DS form. Now I dont know if I need to open DS and add her as a seperate profile even if she is not traveling to USA.
December 6, 2019 at 03:58
You and your wife both list that child on your own DS260s but you only create a DS260 for each person emigrating. I hope your wife listed your child (her stepchild) in the initial entry.
December 6, 2019 at 05:03
Yeap but in initial stage we were not married officially, so I guess that wont be a problem right? We got married on February 2019 and she won the greencard on May2019.. Now as I understood I need to reopen our DS and add her name to my wife’s DS form. But I m not adding it to a separate list as she is not immigrating.
Simon once again thanks a lot for ur help!!!
December 5, 2019 at 13:20
Hi Simon do I have time to apply for 2021 DV Loterry??
December 6, 2019 at 04:00
No. The entry period is now closed.
December 5, 2019 at 13:59
Hello Brit
How many case number have in DV2020. I have see in questions have AF63000 . EU55000 . are they AF63000+EU55000+CN10000 etc = more than 130000 case number ? or AF00001, EU00002, CN00003 etc is case numbers?
December 6, 2019 at 04:01
Each region has it’s own numbers, so there could be AF1, EU1, AS1 and so on. However, not all numbers are real cases. Google “Britsimon Holes theory” to understand better.
December 5, 2019 at 16:58

December 5, 2019 at 17:08
Hi Brit,
When I check my ds 260 form after submission I found that I forgot to put my sponsor grandfather name. Does it causes me a problem? should I unlock the ds 260 form and correct it or should I leave it as it is? Tnx
December 6, 2019 at 04:05
No one cares about your sponsors grandfathers name.
December 6, 2019 at 00:47

December 6, 2019 at 05:11
Hello Mr. BritT Simon!
Two questions:
1) If baby is less than 1 month old at the time of interview, is it necessarily to take the baby to the interview?
2) if the interview date will overlap with the due date or +- one-two dates before or after. Ca we Ask to move interview date? Or it’s difficult?
Thanks.
December 6, 2019 at 15:11
1. Yes
2. You can ask.
December 6, 2019 at 05:49
Hi, BritSimon
Yesterday I had an interview. As soon as the interview started consular officer asked me why you didnt include your son on original DV application. However my son was away in another country so I left him off the form that time because it was totally impossible him to send me his photo…shame. After winning DV lottery i was so happy and worry and my friend told me it’s ok if you add your son when you fill out the form ds-260….so I did add him. I was so sure to get visa as there were enough documents to proof but somehow we were all refused. Please can you tell me are there any possibility to explain consular officer by email
December 6, 2019 at 15:13
No. Denial was 100% certain. The instructions and rules are very clear, there was no other outcome possible. If you had asked me rather than your friend, it would have saved you the time and money.
December 6, 2019 at 19:30
Dear Simon
Just to get a confirmation . I am the dv winner and one part of my spouse s name was missing at the first form(application for the dv lottary) but we have mentioned the full name in the ds 260 and we got the interview appointment as well. Dear simon will this be a issue at the interview
Thanks
December 7, 2019 at 01:44
Probably not.
December 9, 2019 at 04:19
but this kind of situation was 2 years ago with one family and all got visas
December 9, 2019 at 05:38
That’s not true.
December 6, 2019 at 06:25
Hi sir
My mother is the winner of DV 2020 but she is 63 years old and my father is 67 years old we already submitted all documents. Today we got a mail that mail says congratulations you submitted all documents and that says about healthcare system of USA ” who will financially burden the USA healthcare system they will reject like that
my question is will they reject my mother and father because of their age ? but they dont have any disease yet
Thank you sir
December 6, 2019 at 15:15
There is no age limit for the lottery BUT every applicant needs to be able to support themselves financially. So – how will your parents do that?
December 6, 2019 at 16:34
Thank you sir for your reply
My both father and mother got retired but now also they are doing re employment because they like to work so they will work there also and we have friends in USA they said they will find a job for them and they are much fit physically and mentally
December 7, 2019 at 01:42
That is not really a good plan. It is clearly going to be a concern as the expenses to emigrate are high and your parents are quite old to be considering starting a new life and new careers. Just the costs of health insurance alone could be a concern.
December 7, 2019 at 08:26
Thank u sir
But if we show our property and bank balance is it possible? or do you know any possibilities ?
And we are going to take a health insurance in USA to show in interview and im 25 years old im the only son and im unmarried im also going to apply for a student visa after i arrived to USA i can take care them
Is it possible sir ?
December 7, 2019 at 16:32
Again – that all sounds like a bad plan. Ultimately, it will be up to the CO.
December 6, 2019 at 10:31
Hello,

December 7, 2019 at 01:40
Yes you can send the documents, your case number should be interviewed around March/April
December 6, 2019 at 17:30
Hi Brit
I asked the KCC because I have not received news on my documents, after 6 weeks. As we thought, they confirm that they follow the cases order. This information can help everyone. thanks!

Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
For January, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2020 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number:
AFRICA 19,000 Except: Egypt 10,000
ASIA 8,200 Except: Iran 5,100
Nepal 6,500
EUROPE 10,300
N. AMERICA 8
OCEANIA 1,200
S. AMERICA 1,075

December 7, 2019 at 01:42
LOL – well certainly I did not need that confirmation. I make that very clear already.
December 7, 2019 at 01:48
Hi Brit,
With a case number of AF00014xxx, having sent all docs and confirmed set for interview, when is it likely we’ll receive 2NL? Or when is it likely we’ll be interviewed ?
December 7, 2019 at 04:28
How can I guess without knowing WHEN you sent the DS260 and documents.
December 7, 2019 at 06:06
DS-260 was sent on July 11, 2019 and Documents sent on 25th October, 2019.
Confirmation of received documents and set for interview on 15th November, 2019
December 7, 2019 at 16:26
Probably a February interview, 2NL this month.
December 8, 2019 at 09:52
Ok.
Thanks
December 7, 2019 at 07:55
Hi Mr Brit.A simple question: Is it necessary for my sponsor to to notarized I-134 form? Thanks
December 7, 2019 at 16:27
No
December 7, 2019 at 08:24
Hi Simon
In the education question in the ds 260. I put “other” as highest level of education because I have high school degree, university and a CPA license also. Then on the question that says define other and name of educational institution I put AICPA and state board of accountancy. However AICPA or state board are professional associations not educational institutions. Do I need to open DS and update?
December 7, 2019 at 09:03
Hi Brit,
Thank you for your help.
My case number is 2020AF00062000
DS260 submitted May 31 2019
Status: married with 1 kid
My question is: I received the email for required documents in October 15 2019 and I saw the email December 06 2019 and I will submit the documents before December 12 2019
So will this delay affect my interview date?
Thanks again.
December 7, 2019 at 16:33
No – because you have months to wait anyway.
December 7, 2019 at 16:29
It doesn’t matter. No need to correct it.
December 7, 2019 at 17:57
Thanks Simon
December 7, 2019 at 11:30
Hi Brit,
My case number is 2020AF00039.. and i applied DS260 in AUG but till now no e-mail from KCC.
Kindly advise .
Thanks.
December 7, 2019 at 16:33
You can ask them if theyb want your documents, but you have some months to wait anyway.
December 7, 2019 at 11:39
Hi. I am a dv 2020 selectee. During the first entry I made a mistake. Instead of Last Name – First Name and First Name – Last name ( so instead of John Smith I wrote Smith John). In the DS 260 I corrected the mistake. On january we have the interview and we started to prepare everything now. I wanted to ask if will be a disqualification or not ? I will appreciate your opinion. Thank you. Wish you all the best.
December 7, 2019 at 16:34
Normally no problem unless there are concerns about fraud.
December 7, 2019 at 16:53
What do you mean by fraud? I made just one application.
December 7, 2019 at 17:04
That is one possible concern. In some countries fraud is common, so suspicion levels are higher.
December 7, 2019 at 11:54
Hello Brit. Thank you so much for the assistance you provide to dvl selectees. I need your assistance:
I realised I had been selected for DV 2020 on 19 October 2019. My CN is 2020AF44XX. I sent my documents to KCC including submitting my ds260 on Nov 7 2019 and I was informed my documents were in order. Jan 2020 VB is at 19000. I have not received a notification for an interview in my email or the dvlottery website.
Do I need to write to KCC or do I need to relax and wait for a month or two?
December 7, 2019 at 16:38
Just wait.
December 7, 2019 at 16:14
Dear Brit Simon,
I am from a travel ban country.
I participated in the lottery interview three days ago in Ankara Turkey. I am PhD in mechanical engineering and I had three invitation letters from three US universities as a visiting scholar. ? I don’t have immediate family in the U.S. I presented the bank statement to the Officer.
The CO made an exemption for me and told me that you should wait for a month to get your answer. What is your opinion about my case? Can I have a chance to get a visa?
December 7, 2019 at 16:40
I have no way to predict the outcome.
December 7, 2019 at 16:32

December 7, 2019 at 16:45

December 7, 2019 at 16:52
Dear Brit hope you are doing well,
a few days ago was our interview, in the end the CO told us that our case has no issues, he has to do some paperwork and they will contact us, 221g was given and they gave back the passports. Just want to know your opinion, by the way the CO was a briliant peronality. Thanks
December 7, 2019 at 17:05
I have no way to predict the outcome.
December 7, 2019 at 17:10
Hi there !
my case number (Europe 7040) became current in the December visa bulletin. I did receive a mail saying I have submitted all the documents required so the next step is the interview. I emailed them to ask if everything was ok as I didn’t receive any schedule for interview yet but they only answer with an automatic response that doesn’t answer to my question. I believe that I was suppose to pass the interview in December…
I don’t know what to do, is that normal ? does my number might have pass through the system ?
Thanks a lot !
December 7, 2019 at 17:39
When did you submit the documents/DS260?
December 7, 2019 at 19:39
October 16th
December 7, 2019 at 17:13
Thank just confused
December 7, 2019 at 18:10
Hi,
My husband’s a dv 2020 selectee AS17###..
We are having a hard time finding a sponsor. Already we have 2 i134 documents. But in one the sponsor is still trying to get his tax returns done. And in the other our sponsor is retiring this year. We are worried that none of the i134s will be sufficient for us.
1. Is there a way to find a person to help us with the i134. Are there people or institutions who would help us with it. Atleast for a guarantee as per your knowledge and experience ?
2. I got a scholarship for my LL.M in Penn State uni (scholarship was based on merit). Will the offer letter be a positive factor or a negative factor at the interview given that there is some notifications saying that immigrants cannot seek any benefits and/or pose any burden to the government ?
Thanks in advance . Appreciate your service very much.
December 7, 2019 at 19:14
1. No that misses the point. Why would a stranger support you? The form carries no weight if it is from a stranger.
2. It would be positive.
December 7, 2019 at 19:27
USCIS Is going to change the DV fee on 16 December? Do you know something about this?
December 7, 2019 at 20:23
Some fees a changing. Not DV lottery.
December 7, 2019 at 21:01
Thanks!

Dear Brit Simon,i am a Dv 2020 winner.i have one child who was born in January 2019 with my girlfriend . I have no plans of marrying my girlfriend now. In the DS260 i stated that i wont be traveling with my child but she will come later to the USA.i did not fiill DS260 for my child. My questions are:
1 is it compulsory to go to the interview with my child?
2 if i need to go to the interview with her will they allow her mum to enter the embassy with her?
because if her mum is not around for more than 2 hours she will cry a lot
3 please what other alternative do i have if the CO want to prove whether she is really my daughter aside DNA test.
4 Moreover can i go there with a DNA test as prove?
I read one of the previous years interview experience where someone was asked why he didn’t bring his two year old daughter to the interview even thought he was not traveling with her.
Thanks in advance
December 8, 2019 at 03:57
1. NO
2, 3 & 4 are unnecessary.
