Hi BritSimon,
İn DS260 “work you do in US” i wrote “web developer, QA engineer/tester”. İt is not my speciality. İ am going to courses.
Recently i met my friend who came home for vacations from US. He is truck drivers instructor. He said he will help me if i want to drive truck. And i am planning to work as truck driver. After ten days will be my interview.
Shall i change DS at the embassy?
Or just explain the situation to CO?
Will it affect interview result?
Thank you.
December 8, 2019 at 16:07
It doesn’t matter. No need to change anything,
December 8, 2019 at 12:28
My case number is EU000139XX, I was during the summer in the USA and I submitted my DS260 and the additional document in 29 October. How will this affect the day of my interview?
December 8, 2019 at 16:09
No affect.
December 9, 2019 at 18:58
Hello Brit,
I filled my names in the wrong order (also filled the middle name whereas I am not supposed to) in the original entry and I also made a mistake in my address but in the ds 260 I corrected everything… please I would like to know if during the interview they will issue me a visa. Also I want to know how to proof I’ll not be a public charge…. I have a sister in the USA.
December 10, 2019 at 03:43
The combination of mistakes could be seen as evidence of deliberate fraud.

December 10, 2019 at 06:38
Thanks for your response Mr. Brit.
Please what is the best advice you can give me for this case. I’m scared about it.
December 10, 2019 at 23:10
You will have to decide whether to proceed or not – knowing there is an increased risk of denial.
December 8, 2019 at 15:02
If you have fifty us kilos in your Bank account can it be sufficient for the family of eight to start new life in US?
December 8, 2019 at 16:23
Kilos of what????
Hopefully you mean $50,000. In that case, yes.
December 8, 2019 at 15:17
Hello Sir Brit
Happy Sunday.
I have as case number 2020AF39***.
My questions concerns proving not to be a public charge if admitted into the USA at the interview.
I have been building a company and have legal documents from its registration, insurance as well as tax documents. The company also has two bank accounts. At the moment the company is worth about $5500 as cash in its accounts. However, I do not have a private bank account.
Given that the company is registered under me, can I use it’s Bank statements to show that I won’t become a public charge?
Thank you
December 8, 2019 at 16:23
No, and that is a small amount of money anyway.
December 8, 2019 at 16:26
Thank you Brit.
December 8, 2019 at 18:05
Hi britsimon. CN 2020af69k Egypt
I submitted my DS260 but, I didn’t mentioned that I was living in Qatar (a year from 2011 till 2012 ). I wrote I was living in Egypt. Is that Effect on me or I have to unlock DS260 to edit it?
December 8, 2019 at 20:04
Having a truthful DS260 is important. Why did you think honesty was optional?
December 8, 2019 at 20:52
I’m honest but I forgot to mention it with my travelling history in DS260 and I live in California since 2015. Also a friend told me that the important thing is the last 5 years.
So. You see I have to unlock DS260 to edit it.
December 8, 2019 at 18:53
Hi Brit, i am 2020 lottery winner. My case is EU27XXX. Do you think my number is safe?
December 8, 2019 at 20:05
Yes
December 8, 2019 at 19:31
What can i write KCC …… because has been 6 week since they send the email??
December 8, 2019 at 20:07
You can email them or be patient.
December 8, 2019 at 20:11
if i dont write them affects in my process of dv2020
December 8, 2019 at 21:01
Hi Simon.
I have been fortunate enough to be selected to DV2020.
Already put in the DS-260 and recieved the doc collection email from KCC. In the email they require us to send a police certificate (I assume this is the certificate that proves you have never been arrested although we have a slightly different name for it, please confirm) This certificate can be requested by us to be issued for us or for a legal entity. In this case i would assume we get it issued for us as it cannot be done for a foreign legal address.
We heared that in Hungary someone got denied on his interview because when they showed up for it the certificate was not issued to the hungarian embassys name. What do you think will we need to get a second certificate issued once we recieve the interview invite?
Also what happens if the doc we send to KCC expires by the time of the interview?
Best,
Dan
P.S.: You are doing gods work here.
December 9, 2019 at 01:49
For the police cert you must make sure you are following instructions for the country specific reciprocity page. Personally I recommend people renew the police cert nearer the interview.
As for doing gods work – not likely as I’m an atheist.
December 10, 2019 at 09:55
Hi Brit,
Following on a comment you made somewhere here, quote, “Police Cert is valid for one year, as long as you don’t enter back”, does this apply only for a Police Cert in the actual residence country or both(other countries the person has lived in)?
thank you again.
December 10, 2019 at 23:12
It does not apply to the country of current residence. Readthe instructions – that is all clear there.
December 8, 2019 at 22:38
Hello dear Brit
I have two questions for you
1. I send documents to kcc and in my birth certificate the place of birth written the city with its place address. Where as only the city mentioned on my passport. does it has a problem?
2.my university degree is a temporary degree. I tried to get the origional but failed to get because of the problem of the university. So can I use the temporary degree for interview?
thanks in advance!
December 9, 2019 at 01:49
1. No
2. Yes
December 8, 2019 at 22:41
There is a gap greater than a month in the dates you have provided since the date you turned sixteen. Please include ALL addresses where you have lived since the date you turned 16 years old.pls help me out.i dnt understand it
December 9, 2019 at 01:50
It is perfectly clear. Translate it.
December 8, 2019 at 23:13
Dear Sir,
When sending the documents, do we only need to send what they request or do we need to send other qualifications as well?
Thank You
December 9, 2019 at 01:50
Just what they request
December 9, 2019 at 01:56
Thank you britsimon. I’m honest but I forgot to mention it with my travelling history in DS260 and I live in California since 2015. Also a friend told me that the important thing is the last 5 years.
So. You see I have to unlock DS260 to edit it.
December 9, 2019 at 09:55
Hi Brit,
Regarding the form I-134, what should be written as ‘item number’ when filling the additional information (part 7) for a 3rd child ( Beneficiary Children). It is clear that ‘page number’ is 2, ‘part number’ is 2 but I am confused with the ‘ item number’.
December 9, 2019 at 17:15
I already answered this!

December 9, 2019 at 15:41
Hi Sir

December 9, 2019 at 16:22
Hello Sir
I’m from Kenya and there is a guy who has been applying for people for over five years. What amazes me is the degree of certainty that you will win the Dv lottery although this comes at a price. I know more than 17 people whom he has applied and won . My investigation reveals that he has certain dates during the entry process when he applies and he uses a certain alogarithm in his computer to send the application. He assured my friend last year that he will win and surely it came to pass he won. His case number is around 2221*. However after going through your videos you claim that there is no secrets or tricks of winning the lottery. I wanted to use his service this year after raising the required amount he his asking. Should i go ahead and use his services??
December 9, 2019 at 17:03
Please don’t fall for this childish lie. Of course you should not use his services – because it is complete BS!
Why people are so naive to fall for this crap is beyond me – but then I see the way you write about the “amazing degree of certainty” In other words you are giving credibility to his claims even though it is obvious BS. So the next person listening to you might believe the BS because you sound so certain. I think this mindset is particularly prevalent in Africa – people like to believe what others seem to believe. Scammers know that, Churches know that, and in your comments I see why they can take advantage of people. It’s a shame.
December 9, 2019 at 20:25
Absolutly Mr brit,
It is in Africa it happen because we use to lie. In Guinea also here it is like that they fool people because of their stupidity
December 10, 2019 at 12:29
Unfortunately , there are so many people who want to believe in such nonsense , giving others credit for stupid claims they make to fool others and gain from it .
December 9, 2019 at 16:57
good afternoon, my parents were drawn for dv2020 and today they had their interview at the embassy of Bogotá Colombia, it turns out that they were denied a visa because of a difference between the photo with which the lottery was applied and the current photo and obviously going to see a very small difference because my dad is thinner and somewhat older but in addition to being denied a visa they also canceled the tourist visa, you think if I send an email to kcc they can do something because it doesn’t seem fair to me that for a difference in a photo deny him the opportunity, this happened this morning and thanks for your comments
December 9, 2019 at 18:17
The difference must have been VERY pronounced for them to deny the visa. The difference must have made it clear that the photo originally used was not a new photo as the instructions require.
Regarding is there anything that can be done. No. The embassy have complete authority over this and there is NO appeals process.
December 9, 2019 at 22:24
Herminio hi, i am from SA we have a WhatsApp group..may you give me your cellphone o mail , because we would like to know yours parents experience…..my mail is [email protected] cellphone +56948994779 thanks please
December 9, 2019 at 22:57
Saludos,

Hi my name is Hassan Barry and I’m from Liberia my wife is a winner of the 2020 dv lottery she added me and me and we submitted the ds260 with all required docs and our Interview was set for the 5 of December. As I was previously married I got my divorce certificate which was filed in 2018 feb and issued by 2019 April because of my previous wife traveling to another country for one year without signing for the divorce. I got re married to my present wife in a traditional wedding in January 2019 but couldn’t get our marriage certificate because my ex wife did not signed the divorce docs and was out of country, when she came back in April 2019 she signed and I was able to be issued the divorce certificate then after I filed in for my marriage certificate which I was issued in June 2019. At the interview the counselor interviewed us separately but sitting on the bench listening and waiting he asked her a lot about our marriage but my wife answered the question well then after he called me and asked a lot of my previous marriage while holding my divorce and marriage certificate after he told me to wait he went and came back and asked me to call my wife from the bench the he told us that he was going to put us on AP then he handled only the 2 passports with a sheet without or docs and said they will contact us
December 9, 2019 at 20:26
The counselor was focused on my divorce and married certificate don’t know maybe because of the issues dates he was doubting of the 2 documents but these docs are legal documents from the ministry of internal affairs maybe they want to background check them
December 9, 2019 at 22:13
Hey Britsimon,
I am from Russia and my cn is EU39***
Do you think it’s safe this year,
Thank you
December 10, 2019 at 04:03
Probably.
December 10, 2019 at 01:37
Hi Mr Simon! I am a 2019 winner and moved to the US in late September. We are a family of 5. The kids started school already.
1) We are not yet employed and wish to ask the Social Security Administration for assistant. Will be helpful?
2) The individual who gave us Affidavit of support is complaining already. What do you think?
3) She says if the government gives us any assistance she will be charged to pay. True)
December 10, 2019 at 04:32
1. No. That would be a bad idea. You are supposed to be able to make your own way- why is it taking so long to find work?
2. Nothing.
3. The I-134 is not enforceable, so no that is NOT true.
December 10, 2019 at 08:24
Hi Mr Simon,
I have studied in one of faculty of University where was in other city then Head office of this University is in capital of our country. Which address I must submit in DS260 address of Faculty or Head office? In diploma place of issue is city of head office of University. When I have studied in University I also have studied in some other course and started work in company in second part of day. This course and work I have submitted in DS260. If I submit the address of head office of University, the city where I worked will be different and will be look like the false information?

December 10, 2019 at 14:27
Hi Brit,
First of all, thanks for this Website – It has been a lifesaver.
I am a DV-2019 winner and entered the US this November, officially becoming a US Permanent Resident.
I am currently living and working in the UK and I’m not planning to move to the US until late 2020.
My question is: Am I expected to file a US tax return by April 2020?
Many thanks in advance,
Sandra
December 11, 2019 at 02:11
Yes, as you activated your LPR status you are expected to file a tax report by April 2020 for the 2019 calendar year.
Please make certain you do not stay absent for more than 12 months without a re-entry permit.
December 11, 2019 at 20:14
Thanks for clarifying! And yes, I’ll be flying every few months to ensure I maintain my status.
Thanks again 🙂
Best,
Sandra
December 10, 2019 at 17:28
Hi Brit
!My name is Naim, I made mistake when filling application for green card lottery dv2020, because of not having enough knowledge of English language, so my mistake is I wrote my name in a place of where my last name suppost to be and in place of my NAME I wrote my LAST NAME.
Please, advice us how to do next, with this mistake, how to correct this mistake and, or how much could this be a reason to refuse a visa?
December 11, 2019 at 02:13
Generally you simply correct the mistake in the DS260 and if there are no concerns that it was a deliberate fraud, the mistake is normally forgiven.
December 10, 2019 at 19:11
Hi,
My husband is a winner of 2020 dv lottery. As17###. I really appreciate the assistance you provide to many the dv lottery winners. I have 2 questions.
1. I got a scholarship to do my LL.M at Penn State University based on the merit. Will the offer letter be considered a positive or a negative factor at the interview according to your opinion? (given that immigrants are considered not to be enjoying government benefits )
2. We are experiencing a difficulty in getting the i134 done. We have 2 i134 documents signed already. But in one the person who signed is retiring this year and in the other the person signed owns a business and has issues in getting the most recent federal tax returns. According to your knowledge is there a way or persons who would help us with an i134 even for a guarantee?
3. Many people are hesitant to sign i134. According to your knowledge are there people who have fallen into trouble as a result of sponsoring by way of i134? If you could please give us some information to convince a person regarding that. ( we are ready with personal assets but the embassy in here has a tendency of requiring i134 nevertheless other guarantees we could give to prove we won’t be a public charge)
Thank you in advance

I am Chetra from Cambodia, I have my case number: AS29xxx.

December 11, 2019 at 09:34
Hi Simon, I’m the primary applicant and my husband and I had our interview on Nov 19th in Sydney Australia and we were both approved. However, we still haven’t received our passports and visas.
I emailed the consulate and they replied saying, “Mine had been processed but my husband’s was with the consular officer for final adjudication.”
When I asked the reason they said, “Sometimes we experience a computer glitch which disallows us from proceeding with an application until the issue is fixed. Even though the applicants are advised at time of their visa interview that their application is approved, there are several in-house processes that still have to take place before we can finally adjudicate and actually issue the visas. We hope to have your husband’s visa issued as soon as we are able to do so.”
Is this something we should be concerned about and would you know what sort of time line this could take?
Thanks for your help.
December 11, 2019 at 17:08
I don’t know any more than the embassy already told you.
December 11, 2019 at 13:07
We family have 4 person, me, my husband and two daughters. I am the selectee of DV2020, the others are derivatives. My elder daughter is studying at New York State University with F1 visa right now.
My question is: According to your experience, if I am refused at the interview, will it affect my daughter’s F1 visa (be canceled on the scene by CO.)?
Thank you for your time and reply.
December 11, 2019 at 17:11

Hi, my cn is EU53XXX Do you think i have chance if all the CN will be “current” in June or July and then it may be first come, first served basis if have already sent necessary documents? I am too worried after watching your last youtube video 🙁 My number is not safe.. Thank you.
December 11, 2019 at 17:12
All you can do is wait and see.
December 11, 2019 at 16:32
Hi Simon, Firstly, thank you for all your efforts and advice.
I have two of questions:
1) My wife is a DV lottery selectee while I will be accompanying her. She is a homemaker while I am the only earning member. In this regard, is it okay to show the bank statement that of mine and not hers ?
2) My wife does not have any work experience as she has been a homemaker. Does this impact our chances for being granted an IV ? I do have work experience, though, but I am an accompany and not the principal applicant.
thanks.
December 11, 2019 at 17:14
1. Yes
2. Then she must meet the education standard. Your education/work experience is unimportant.
December 11, 2019 at 19:20

Thank you for all the hard work you put in. Since my internet searches for any info on 2020 second draw have been futile I have to ask if you have any info on the subject?

Hello Brit, my interview is scheduled in Jan. Kindly provide a feedback to the below question.
As the recent income records ,my sponsor has 2017 report and it is recorded with $45000 annual income.he is filing his new record in this Jan which will record $100,000 (however I can not wait until it’s done). In his family he and his wife and sponsoring for me and my spouse (altogether 4 members)
1.Will $45000 be enough?
2.Going with 2017 income file will be a problem ?
Thanks a lot!

December 12, 2019 at 06:46
Hi Brit, thank you for all your blogs that guided all this time. As DV2019 winner, I am now in the US.
At the POE, I was told that I have to come down to SSA to sign-up for SSN eventhough I ticked the SSN box in DS260 form. Do you know if the process changes or the POE staffs were misleading?
Thanks
December 12, 2019 at 23:22
The staff misled you.

1. You may as well unlock and correct that.
2. While unlocked, change the US address if you want.
3. That number is very high, so it will be interviewed at the end of the processing year.

Hi Brit, I have a doubt…I am a DV2020 winner…My appointment is scheduled for January 16th,2020 but I did not complete DS-260 form for my daughter because she did not want to travel to E.U and now she wants …Is there a problem if I complete her DS-260 now that my appointment was scheduled?

Yes. Your DS260 is locked and another DS260 cannot be added. You will have to contact the embassy and ask them what can be done.

Hi Simon
My case number is 2020EU226XX and I have a little problem. On November 10th i sent an email with the required documentation and since then I didn’t hear anything from KCC. I decided to ask KCC about my case a month later (December 10th) if everything’s ok. They replied like this:
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
I didn’t receive any reply though – neither automatic nor any other. So I wrote another email to notify them that I didn’t get any reply. In the first email (sent on Nov 10th) I wrote a short message with the enclosed documents – something like ‘please let me know if you received our email, if there are any missing or incomplete documents we’ll provide you with the new ones as quickly as possible’, so i thought that it might have caused such a problem that the automatic reply didn’t work. I mentioned about this short message, too. I asked them if i should send another email only with documents to this email: [email protected]. There’s their reply:
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. If you cannot obtain a particular document, send a scanned or photographed explanation in of why you cannot obtain the document, as an attachment in .jpeg or .pdf format, to [email protected], with your case number in the subject line. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
It says nothing to me. Documents were certainly enclosed and named correctly. I set my case as a subject as well. Now I am confused if I should send these documents again or not…
Thank you in advance.
Damian

Phone KCC if you want, or wait patiently. No need to stress, you’re not even current yet.
