Hi Simon, my cn is eu31xxx, can I still change country for an interview? because USA embassy in Lithuania do not require I-134, I checked on they website. I spoke to a few people who received green card there. US embassy in Germany do requires I-134.
January 2, 2020 at 05:38
Any consulate can ask for the I-134, and it can vary by case. You cannot change embassy without reason (i.e. change of living country).
January 2, 2020 at 08:09
Hi Brits, but there is requirements for each embassy what to bring to interview US embassy in LT requires i-134 or 864 only for family base visa not for DV. In Germany I-134 requires for DV.
January 2, 2020 at 08:17
Re-read what I said.

January 5, 2020 at 20:34
Why jamaican is not allow to apply?
January 5, 2020 at 20:51
This lottery is for countries that have LOW numbers of immigrants. Jamaica already exceeds the numbers, so is not eligible for the lottery.
January 1, 2020 at 19:08
Dear Sir,
Should we start the scraping?
January 2, 2020 at 00:34
No need at this time. Xarthisius has automated the script with a paid for service.
January 2, 2020 at 16:42
This is amazing news !!
January 2, 2020 at 06:29
Hello BritSimon. I hope you are well.
I need your input on an issue that is causing some anxiety. My parents have lived in the US for over 10 years. They overstayed their visas. We are estranged and we havent talked for years. In my DS 260 I filled they are in either in New York or Texas. I got one of my uncles to ask for their addresses but they refused to divulge any information. Word is they were in Texas and they have been moving and at one time they were in New York. I indicated I would be living with a friend in Utah. I have savings of around USD 14,000 in my accounts, another USD 10,600 in an investment plan and USD 4500 shares in a SACCO. I intend to use this to show I wont be a public charge.
In your opinion do you think the issue of my parents and their address will pose a problem to me?
January 2, 2020 at 08:18
No.
January 2, 2020 at 08:40
Thank you BritSimon
January 3, 2020 at 07:23
Hello Brit…am really in a panic.. filled in ds260 (may 31), didn’t receive email from Kcc asking me to forward documents so I wrote them on 29 of November got a reply in December 2 asking that I sent which I did that same day…. Now according to visa visa bulletin, my case falls in January (2020AF181**) yet no 2nl, no email to show if 260 or documents have been approved…..what can I do?? Should I write Kcc??
January 3, 2020 at 16:25
No – you wait. You sent the documents in December, meaning that was too late to be sceduled in December, but you might be scheduled in January (for March interview) or if not in February( for April). There is no problem with that, you just need to be patient.
January 2, 2020 at 08:50
Hi Brit,
Current VB show that Nepal is under 7575 Case Number but AS region wise its 12000 Case number. And i am from Nepal and my Case no is AS 95**. When can i expect my case to be current.
January 2, 2020 at 21:32
In a couple of months. Be patient.
January 2, 2020 at 09:24
So a friend of mine just found out that his father won the lottery. However, both his father and mother do not want to emigrate but they want my friend to emigrate to the US to go to college and live permanently.
Does this mean that the easiest and hassle free way to get him to the US is to only fill a DS260 for himself and his father ? If his father decides to abandon the green card status, will my friend get impacted? (He is 18 years old)
January 3, 2020 at 07:00
Hi sorry britsimon, I think u skipped my question
January 6, 2020 at 06:22
Yes I had missed it. You are correct, the father could apply, adding the derivative son and once BOTH had entered the USA the father would be able to leave and renounce his GC without affecting the son.
January 2, 2020 at 11:06
Hy, if I’m applying for usa citizenship am I gonaa get residence for as long I’m staying there? Knowing that I would go there whit touristic visa and I would apply there? Pleas I need fast answer.
January 2, 2020 at 20:00
You don’t seem to understand immigration rules for the USA. But in any case I only answer DV lottery questions.
January 2, 2020 at 13:44
HI Simon . I have apply for green card in 2017 the FLORIDA AGENCY AND I HAVE PAID READY 10 000 DOLLARS BUT THEY RING TO ME VERY OFTEN THEY WANT 6000 MORE WHAT ITS THAT . BUTI STOP TO GIVE THE MONEY
January 2, 2020 at 19:47
I don’t know anything about your case, but it sounds like you are being scammed. Be careful – use some common sense.
January 2, 2020 at 14:21
Hello Brit,
We are a family of 4, I am 18 years old and I want to move to the US alone. I have a sister who is 12 and wants to stay in our home country for school. Can my family just come to the US every 6 months to keep the green card alive while my sister studies not it the US ?
Thank you so much
January 2, 2020 at 19:46
Possibly, yes. However, thye may eventually come under additional scrutiny for not living in the USA.
January 2, 2020 at 17:05
Hi! Do you know when DV2019 statistics are going to be available? I won that year and am already in the US, but I am curious to see all the numbers for different areas and countries.
Thanks!
January 2, 2020 at 19:39
The official stats will be published later this year.
January 2, 2020 at 19:08

Dear Simon, I am about to finish my DS260. But in primary occupation field what should I write on ( employer name ) as I work as a tutor in my house ?
January 2, 2020 at 21:36
Sounds like you are self employed. So your employer is “Self”
January 2, 2020 at 23:30
Thanks Mr. Simon for replay. Do you mean by “ self “ that I can write my own name or write ‘ self employed ’
January 3, 2020 at 14:27
Please mr. Simon, what should be written? (My name or self employed)
January 3, 2020 at 16:36
I said – SELF.

January 2, 2020 at 23:04
Hi Mr. Simon,
I have a high school diploma and an engineering diploma from college but have never worked as an engineer since I graduated in 2010 due to unavailability of jobs. I’ve since been working casual jobs and currently a security guard.
Q1. . On the ds 260 form I filled primary job as “security guard”. How should I answer “do you have any other profession” question? Yes or No
Q2. If yes should I indicate that I am an engineer?
Thanks in advance
January 2, 2020 at 23:31
1. Just the simple truth.
2. That is obvious from your education.
January 2, 2020 at 23:34
Hi Mr. Simon, after the CEAC Data issued, do the high case numbers in Egypt have a good chance or will be current ?

January 3, 2020 at 06:41
Dear sir,
I’m a dv2020 winner in SRI LANKA.
we have applied for police clearance via online as we received the email from KCC requesting support documents.
In the police clearance application form we had to mention the Reference high commission/embassy/consulate and to indicate address of the High Commission/Embassy/Consulate to which the certificate should be addressed to.
So we mentioned it as KENTUCKY CONSULAR CENTER, 3505 NORTH HIGHWAY 25W WILLIAMSBURG, KY 40769, USA, as we have to send our police clearance to KCC.
But today we received an email from police.lk telling that the mentioned High Commission/Embassy/Consulate is wrong.
Should we mention it as,
CONSULATE GENERAL FOR D. S. R. OF SRILANKA – WASHINGTON DC, USA
or
CONSULAR GENERAL FOR D. S. R. OF SRILANKA – LOS ANGELES, USA
or
EMBASSY OF THE D. S. R. OF SRILANKA – LOS ANGELES, USA
or
EMBASSY OF THE D. S. R. OF SRILANKA – NEW YORK, USA
or
EMBASSY OF U. S. – SRILANKA
please help. Thank u.
January 3, 2020 at 16:22
EMBASSY OF U. S. – SRILANKA
January 4, 2020 at 12:32
Thank u sir ?
January 5, 2020 at 09:17
Hi brit
I have request for the ambassador ,embassy of United States of America Colombo
Isn’t correct
January 3, 2020 at 14:23
Deari Mr. Simon, after the CEAC Data issued, do the high case numbers in Egypt have a good chance or will be current ?
January 3, 2020 at 16:35
You keep asking – and I have replied several time. PLease stop asking over and over again the same question.
Wait and see.
January 3, 2020 at 15:03
hI Simon
i have submitted my documents to kcc
and they sent me a message after some days that they have received it.
i checked the visa status on caec and it stated ready?
will kcc send me the interview date or i will have to do sth or i should wait patiently for my interview date?
January 3, 2020 at 16:20
The fact that your status is READY means you have already been scheduled. You somehow missed the 2NL email. Go to the ESC page to see your interview scheduled date/time.
January 3, 2020 at 16:32
please can you send me the link for the ESC page
January 3, 2020 at 17:05
Hi Brit, I’m preparing my DS-260 and thinking about following:
If I take my child with me to US to activate our GC’s and then send her back to EU, how long can she stay out of US? She is 15 now and needs 4 more years to finish her high school. Can she join me later with current GC or would it mean a new (DV) process? I don’t want to waste a GC, they’re limited in number…
January 3, 2020 at 18:22
There is a FAQ article about how long people can be out of the country.
But you are thinking in a wrong way. If your daughter wants a life in America, she is at the perfect age to go to school in America. Education is free up to age 18, then local college (first two years of a degree course) is free also. And in the USA, American education is generally more highly regarded than education from most other countries.
January 3, 2020 at 18:31
Yes, I know. But I’m divorced and her mother won’t not let her go till she’s 18 🙁
Anyway, thanks 🙂
January 3, 2020 at 18:37
Sorry, I meant “never” and wrote “not”
January 3, 2020 at 19:04
So then you could wait and sponsor her later, OR get the GC now but she will need to take frequent trips to the USA (as described in the FAQ).
January 6, 2020 at 21:36
Hi!
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the daughter in this cas could enter US, get a green card and then filled in for a reentry permit on the grounds of education?
That means that the reentry permit would allow her to enter US after she finishes high school in Europe with the same green card.
January 7, 2020 at 00:19
That is all detailed in the FAQ I referred the OP to read. FYI, a reentry permit only allows 24 months of absence.
January 3, 2020 at 17:05
CASE 54500 MAY HAVE ACHANCE THIS YEAR?
January 3, 2020 at 18:18
I have no idea. My mind reading skills are not what they were.
January 3, 2020 at 18:27
Hi Simon, if we have around half of million dollars in account. Legal proof do I need to do I-134. Also in addition job offer from employer in Usa??
January 3, 2020 at 18:31
Not normally.
January 4, 2020 at 00:03
i have interview next week and i found out mistake in the police certificate translation and in the marriage certificate translation ( only in the translation but the certificate in Arabic are right ) so is this will make a problem for me at the interview or not ? and how can i avoid this problem ?
January 4, 2020 at 04:49
I don’t know if that will cause a problem – you did not say what information is incorrect. If you can get the translations replaced, do that.
January 4, 2020 at 05:42
The last name and building number (in police and marriage certificate) were wrong and I changed again in the same translation center
But all other the last name is right and the address also
January 4, 2020 at 17:10
Get them replaced.
January 4, 2020 at 01:40
BritSimon, Thank you so much for everything you do. I’m your fan.
When I entered the Lottery, I knew nothing about it. It was friend in America who helped me do it and asked for my info and pic. As the entry period was almost over, I sent her the first picture I found. I realized later it was the same one I used for my turist visa four years ago. I’m from Cuba and I would have my interview in Guyana, so all the process would cost me a lot. I don’t want to go through it in vain.
1. Do you think I have any chance?
2. Have you herd of anyone in my situation who has succeeded?
January 4, 2020 at 04:47
1. Yes, a chance – but also a chance of denial.
2. Yes, although the embassy in Columbia are denying most cases like that (old photos).
January 4, 2020 at 03:26
Hey Brit,
Hope everything is going well.
CASE # EU24XXX
1) I’m here in California on a O1 visa that expires in June 2020, and I was wandering if it would be safer to extend it, if for any reason you think we could go pass June for the interview…
2) I sent the documents almost 3 months ago, and never heard back since that automatic reply, would you suggest to call them to make sure they’re satisfied?
3) If 1 is NO, what would be your guess on the interview month?
Thank you so much for your time,
Leo
January 4, 2020 at 04:42
1. That case number will be current way before June. I expect March and April to move faster than the first few months. So as long as they have your DS260 and documents you’ll be fine.
2. Yes. Call them ideally (press zero to skip the message).
3. April/May.
January 4, 2020 at 09:50
Greetings sir, please does a police certificate which is less to expire by the end of this January cost any problems in processing my case number, am a dv applicant with CN AF35*** I want to sent my document to the kcc this January ending but my policy certificate shows that it will expired on January 28.
(1) should I submit the police certificate or make a new one
(2)submitting the policy certificate will it course dellayance to my interview
(3) when do you expect my cn will be ready to be shadule should in case I sent document this month.
Thanks very much
January 4, 2020 at 17:30
1. New
2. None of your documents can be sent without the full set of documents, so yes, this could cause a delay.
3. I don’t know. Just focus on what you need to do.
January 4, 2020 at 13:25
Hi, Mr. Brit Simon!
I have Two questions:
1) My case number is EU444** If I send my DS 260 in the middle of January or early February isn’t it too late??
Does “sending early” somehow influence “success” of the case?
2) Should I necessarily need to get official notarized translation (to English) of police clearance in the country where this police clearance was issued? I’m my case in China. Or I can do this notarized translation in my hometown?
Thanks.
January 4, 2020 at 17:33
1. No & No.
2. It can be done anywhere.
January 4, 2020 at 13:46
i submitted ds -260 on october 29th and the rest of my papers on november 2nd, on 11 December I received and email that my doc are proccesed.
Case no 2020EU13XXX. I have become current but no 2nl yet. What do you think it is happening
January 4, 2020 at 17:36
Your case was not processed (either documents or DS260) until December, so you could not be scheduled in December. You will instead be scheduled in January for a March interview.
January 4, 2020 at 14:56
Hello Brit .
Pls can i get my 2nl within the month of January and February .case no. 2020af***43***.summited my 260pon 12july2019.
January 4, 2020 at 17:38
Have you sent documents?
January 4, 2020 at 15:14
Hello Mr. Brit,
I have a case number of AS14XXX . I was asked to submit the documents and I submitted it on 2019 December 6th.
My question is, I have submitted my wife’s police report but that Police report was issued only for the current residing police division but she had lived in 2 more police divisions after the age of 16.
* Will it be a problem?
* She has taken a new police report with the clearance from all the police divisions she has reside after 16. Do i need to submit it again ? or will I wait till KCC respond.
Thanks …
January 4, 2020 at 17:39
I don’t know procedures in your country – so I don’t know if this will be a problem or not.
January 4, 2020 at 15:18
Good day Sir!

Hi Mr Simon
Why Burundians (great laces/ central africa) can not pass the intervieu at Bujumbura Embassy! Why not Kigali embassy where is near Burundi! but Nairobi.

January 4, 2020 at 22:46
Hi Mr Brit, happy new year. I tried to check my case status at NVC and below is the respond;
U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
At NVC
Immigrant Visa Case Number: 2020AF48***
Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete. You can also find these instructions online at http://nvc.state.gov (English) and http://nvc.state.gov/espanol (Spanish). You will find contact information for NVC at http://nvc.state.gov/ask.
NVC haven’t send me any mail. Please sir guide me on what to do
January 5, 2020 at 03:34
IGNORE the notes about NVC. It is simply the starting status – watch the video below for more info.

January 4, 2020 at 23:22
Hello, happy new year!! A friend will go to her interview soon, but she has an 18-year-old daughter who had an accident long ago and as a sequel she had a weaker side of her body, more specifically with lack of coordination, she was operated and is now in rehab. Do you think that would have a problem at the time of the interview or medical exams?
January 5, 2020 at 03:31
There is no problem.
I discussed your question here:

January 5, 2020 at 00:48
Hi Brit!
I sent my ds 1 week ago and unlocked (I made a mistake) and submitted it and all the documents yesterday.
Now I’ve just realized I forgot to put a country (from Europe) which I traveled in the last 5 years.
I am EU31k. Should I request to unlock again?
Thank you very much Brit.
January 5, 2020 at 03:42
Yes
January 5, 2020 at 03:24
Hi Simon,
Thanks for your hard work here. I just submitted my DS260 but realised that when entering my educational details I forgot to include my high school. I did include both of my tertiary degrees however. Should I ask to have it unlocked?
Kind regards, Mike
January 5, 2020 at 03:41
Yes, unlock and correct.
January 5, 2020 at 04:53
Dear Brit Simon,
Could you please advise when CN eu35*** would probably get an invitation to the interview?
Thank you,

January 6, 2020 at 08:52

Dear Mr.Simon,
I have submitted my DS260 in August 20th and submitted my documents on 10th of December. I hope to be current for March interviews. but i didn’t received the ready for scheduling mail. so my question is can i be expect 2NL without receiving ready for scheduling mail if my case number became current?
Thank You.

It’s technically possible, but your documents may have needed more processing time.

Greetings Mr Brit, today marks exactly two months when the embassy in Ghana called
off our interview 5th November 2019 for no concrete reason and promised to help us reschedule another date. As i communicate with you right now, we have been able to create a profile to help us schedule an interview. appointment but getting a date has been very difficult and has rendered us helpless..Meanwhile our medical and police report were done after receiving our 2NL but might get expired before getting another date. Well, since we are not being successful with the new date for the interview, we are suggesting printing out all the email correspondence we exchanged with the visa section to the consular as a stop gap measure.
We will appreciate if you could be of help to us in terms of the next step to take.
Thanks once again Sir.

Look. I’m am going to be blunt (to be kind). Your GC relies on you making an online profile and registering an appointment, OR approaching the embassy and getting it sorted out. I hope you realize what an opportunity this is. If this was happening to me, I would have got it sorted out in a couple of days. MAKE THIS A PRIORITY IN YOUR LIFE. Get it done!
