Hi Brit,
Sorry i’ m reading person talking about Travelling history question on the DS260.
Tge only question regarding travel is about last 5 time visited the USA.
Can someone confirm the above ?
Thanks,
Have a nice day
?
January 5, 2020 at 22:59
Just read the question in the DS260 carefully.
January 5, 2020 at 21:33
Hi San, I too from Asia at same case range. Which country are you from?
January 9, 2020 at 13:49
Hi Brits,
Bases on the current VB 25000 is existing for AF, when do you predict the case AF53xxx be current?
Thank you.
January 9, 2020 at 18:42
Summer 2020.
January 5, 2020 at 22:48
Hi Brit!
I’m AF22*** already current, got the ready to be scheduled email on the 19 of December however didn’t get 2nl for February interviews, now I’m expecting a baby this February and also I want to get married to my fiance so I can add her and the baby when she arrives next month.
Here’s my worries, I will likely get 2nl later this month for March interviews so that leaves me with no time to include my “spouse and baby” when I get married and baby when she arrives next month could there be another way to do this?
Also do you think this will cause more delay as far as my case is concerned from Cameroon?
January 5, 2020 at 23:05
FORGET DELAYS! That is a stupid thing to think about. Think instead about how to organize the timing so that your interview will include your spouse and child. If I were you I would ask KCC to DELAY the scheduling to April or May – and informing them you want time to add the spouse and child before scheduling.
January 6, 2020 at 14:24
Thanks Brit.
I’ll do just that.
January 6, 2020 at 01:18
Hi there Brit,
Firstly a huge thank you for all the work you do. With your guidance and advise my husband and I are the lucky winners of the DV2020 lottery.
We are planning an activation trip before we permanently move to the US before April 29th which is the cut off for activation. We are hoping to use the trip to get our SSN and drivers license – however from what I’ve read in forums obtaining your SSN can be a timely process. On the California DMV website it says you need to apply for a license within 10 days of becoming a California resident (Los Angeles is where we will be moving to). May I ask if there is leniency with the 10 day rule, as we may not be able to have our SSN ready to even apply for a drivers license. Are we able to pick up from where we left off with the Drivers License application when we permanently move to L.A months after our activation trip. It seems impossible to get your Drivers License within the first 10 days of entering the country and becoming lawful permanent residents. Your help with this is very much appreciated.
January 6, 2020 at 03:01
Nope. You need to reset your expectations – or face a lot of stress during the activation trip. What is so important about getting your SSN and driving license?
January 6, 2020 at 03:17
It says you have to apply for a drivers license within 10 days. So I thought it had to be done as soon as we enter the country and become lawful permanent residents. Is that not accurate? Can it wait until we move permanently after the activation trip? Also, lots of ppl have said that it takes months to receive an SSN so I was hoping that by starting the process on the activation trip, we be a little ahead for when we move over so we can rent, get a job, get our drivers license, buy a car etc.
Hope this makes sense, my apologies if I haven’t articulated this well. Cheers!
January 6, 2020 at 03:33
Again, no.
For a drivers license you have to prove residency IN THE STATE. Meaning showing a lease or whatever.
The SSN takes 2 to 3 weeks.
Stop talking to “lots of ppl” – they are idiots.
January 6, 2020 at 11:06
Hi Simon,
If i was in the US in the past and have SN
1-Can I still use the same SN when I move there
2-Can I enter the US for activation and then leave before receiving the GC and re-enter again in 2-3 months?
Thanks
January 6, 2020 at 17:01
1. Yes
2. Yes (after all this time you STILL haven’t read the FAQ????)

January 7, 2020 at 05:39
Great and Good Luck to you.
January 9, 2020 at 12:27
Hello,

January 6, 2020 at 08:34
Hello BritSimon. I trust you are well. I need your assistance on something that is affecting my friend. I and him will be having our interviews in February 2020.
My friend reused the photo he used for his DV 2020 application (October 2018) in August 2019 application for a visa for a work related matter he had in the USA. Unknown to him, he had selected for DV 2020 processing. He had checked for the results in ESC page on May 10 2019 and the result was he had not been selected. He received his 1NL in October 2019. His visa application for 2019 was rejected in August 2019 and informed he did not qualify for the visa type he applied for.
It was in October 2019 -after receiving the KCC email – that he realized why that was so. Do you think he should be concerned with a refusal because he reused his DV 2020 photo (in October 2018) for his 2019 visa application?
Many thanks
January 6, 2020 at 17:00
No.
January 6, 2020 at 18:07
Thank you very much.
January 6, 2020 at 14:28
Hi brit, I submitted my documents to KCC in November 2019. At that time i did not include the leading zeros in my case number both while saving the documents and also in the email subject. I resubmitted the documents to KCC in December 2019 and included the leading zeros while saving the documents and in the subject of the email. In your opinion, do you think excluding the leading zeros previously will cause a delay in processing my case? When I checked last week I saw the “at NVC” message.
January 6, 2020 at 17:05
I’m not sure if they would accept the documents without the leading zeros. If I had to guess, I would say no.
January 6, 2020 at 15:53
Dear Simon,
Thank you for all the valuable information you have been providing and would like to take moment to thank you from all of us who are hungry for the information.
Anyway, I have a few questions which I’d appreciate if you could answer.
My interview is scheduled for February 3, 2020 btw.
Instruction 1:
“U.S. Embassy Kathmandu, Nepal – KDU
Please follow the steps below before your immigrant visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Step 1: Create a profile and upload all relevant documents in CEAC
All immigrant and diversity visa applicants must create a profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/np after receiving their appointment letter. This will allow applicants to process case inquiries, submit documents, and obtain updates about visa collection.”
Question Set 1: As you see this case is from Kathmandu, Nepal and the first thing it says is to create a profile in the link provided. I wanted to know if this profile creation is needed only for the primary applicant or do all the beneficiaries have to create separate profiles in the link provided? Also, do we have to submit/upload documents here again? What all is to be done, as there isn’t much other than providing your name, address, and passport details?
Instruction 2:
“If you have to make a correction or update information after submission, please send an email to the Consular inbox at [email protected] to re-open your form before the appointment date.”
Question Set 2: I have recently changed my job and I have also emailed the embassy here in Kathmandu about it as per the embassy specific instruction above. What should I expect out of this? Should I just let them know about my current employer during the interview itself or should I be updating the DS260 anytime soon?
Instruction 3:
“For paper-based cases: Please bring the original and a photocopy.
For Electronic cases: Please bring the original. No photo copy is required.”
Question Set 3: Finally, do I consider my application as an electronic based case or a paper based case as you can see above that the instructions are different for the two mediums.
Question 4: Are experience letters mandatory from different employers?
Thank you in advance. I appreciate it.
Ruvii
January 6, 2020 at 17:10
1. You should be able to just follow the instructions. You are registering YOUR interview – so one registration.
2. There is no need to update the DS260 for a simple job change.
3. I don’t know the context.
4. Not normally, unless you cannot meet the education requirement and need to prove work experience.
Please try and keep questions brief.
January 7, 2020 at 04:21
Thanks a lot. It all seemed long because I copied the instruction from their website for your reference.
January 6, 2020 at 17:04
Hello Mr.BritSimon, thanks for everything. You are the best.
Do you have the regional quota percentages for 2020?
January 7, 2020 at 01:00
Hello Mr, I think you didn’t see my question, since it was so short. Sorry to bother again.
January 7, 2020 at 03:54
Not precisely for DV2020 – but you can use previous quotas as a good guide.
January 6, 2020 at 19:26
Hello Simon,
I am from Nepal, living here in USA, while submitting AOS, can i submit the copy of my birth certificate. I have notarized the copy of birth certificate form the laywer back to Nepal. What do you suggest for the birth certificate which needs to submit with AOS package?
January 7, 2020 at 00:12
AOS is specialized, so please look at the thread below.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2020-aos-only.340762/
January 6, 2020 at 20:08
Hello Brit.
CN:EU15xxx
I have filled Ds260 on july and sent docs on 16 November. I guess to be current on Marxh but I did not receive yet a confirmation from KCC if for them the docs are Ok. So does it mean that i will not have an interview for March?
Regards
January 7, 2020 at 00:13
It depends whether they have finished processing or not on the documents. You can ask KCC if they are satisfied with the documents.
January 6, 2020 at 20:48

January 6, 2020 at 21:00
Do you think america can stop nepali from learning that there are conflicts ?! i think something might happen
January 7, 2020 at 00:14
What an odd statement.
Who suggested America wanted to or tried stop that??
January 6, 2020 at 21:24
Hi Brit,
I have a question
Is unlocking ds 260 before my case is current, would delay the interview appointment date?
Coz my case is current for february but until now i havent get any mail from KCC for interview.
Cn AF19k
January 7, 2020 at 00:18
Unlocking doesn’t normally cause delays, but timing can be sensitive. If they are scheduling your case they would not unlock it.
January 6, 2020 at 23:07
Dear Brit,
My case number is AS63XX already current. I got the document requirement email sometime back even before i submitted DS260. I submitted my DS 260 last week of december.
1. Should i submit my documents now or should i wait for än email asking me to submit documents?
2. I won from the asia region and now in Sweden. I left my country in mid August and i have already got my police report from there. Should i get a police report from Sweden as well? If so when so i apply for one? After i get my interview date or immediately?
3. Does the income of my sponsor matter? He is a retired senior Citizen now
January 6, 2020 at 23:20

January 6, 2020 at 23:42
Hallo brite my case number 23000 from asyia after 6 weeks didn’t here kcc
Then I have sent email kcc about my document
After get this Email from kcc
What is your advice
Thank you for your inquiry.
The information you have provided does not match the case. Please resubmit your request with the correct information, as entered on your original entry, for KCC to properly assist you.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
For additional information, please refer to the following websites:
January 7, 2020 at 04:04
My advice is to make sure you are emailing them correctly – with the correct name, case number and so on. DO NOT shorten the case number.
January 7, 2020 at 14:32
sir
i am have mistaken ordinal entry about day and month that is not relation
with my mistake my document not accepted– but i corrected in ds 260
thank you for your help.
January 7, 2020 at 15:38
That’s why it does match. Use the “incorrect” birthdate.
January 7, 2020 at 16:20
sir
you mean use incorrect birth date on ds 260
use incorrect birth date on ds 260 for what?
but my passport and birth certificate real day and month
but ordinal entry have mistake with day and month
thank you ….
January 7, 2020 at 16:59
KCC are telling you that the pieces of information you gave are not matching your file. They are referring to your name, DOB or case number. Your file is accessed by those three pieces of data, and you are telling me (I think) that you had a mistake in your DOB in the original entry. So – even though the DOB is corrected INSIDE your DS260, your file may still be accessed by the DOB they had from the original entry. If you think that is incorrect – then carry on.

January 7, 2020 at 13:28
Hi Brit.
My case number is EU44XXX, do I even have a chance to get an interview? Because it’s such a large number. I’m sitting here all stressed out that I’m not gonna make it to USA.
January 7, 2020 at 15:36
You have to wait and see. Mathematically, there is a chance.
January 7, 2020 at 15:15
Hello Mr. Simon,
In the DS 260 I filled that my permanent address in us will be in Chicago but I want to change my address to California. Should I access us through Chicago or can I fly directly to California?
P.S. I had my interview last week and I got approved.
Best regards
January 7, 2020 at 15:38
It doesn’t matter where you enter/live.
January 7, 2020 at 16:09
Hi Simon,
I entered the lottery without having A-levels (I took the exams in may 2019, straight after I won, and I got the high school diploma on July 4th). I submitted the DS-260 on July 5th. Is there anything to be worried about ? I found an information on the U.S. Department of State: Consular Affairs (their facebook site) that you have to have completed your high school education before your interview in order to qualify. I couldn’t find any information about it on their official website, that’s why I’m a little bit concerned.
Thanks in advance,
Damian
January 7, 2020 at 17:07
No reason to be concerned.
January 7, 2020 at 16:51
hello sir

K CC didn’t answer me
what should do
wait until my case current or mail to kcc?
January 7, 2020 at 17:06
You can mail KCC although you still have to wait for your case number anyway.
January 7, 2020 at 17:06
Hi Brit,
I’d like to ask you if I’m from Egypt with a very high case number 2020AF463XX , do you think I would have a chance to go to an interview before reaching the cutoff point or not?
Thanks
January 7, 2020 at 18:16
Yes.
January 7, 2020 at 17:34
Hi sir
My case number is EU 311XX, do I even have a chance to get an interview?
January 7, 2020 at 18:43
Yes
January 7, 2020 at 17:39
Hello, I hope you are well. My dad is the main applicant of the green card, but he doesn’t want to move to the United States. If my mom and I stayed there and my dad comes, would the green card be taken from us?
January 7, 2020 at 18:41
No. Once you all enter the USA (and thus activate your LPR status), the derivatives are no longer “dependent” on the principal selectee.
January 7, 2020 at 19:54
Hi Brit ,am AF53***,I already submitted my Ds,can I use a different host from the one in the form during the interview or I need to unlock my Ds and change
January 7, 2020 at 22:35
You can use a different one. Just be clear – are you changing the USA address where you will live, or the person who will support you.
January 8, 2020 at 09:07
I am changing both
January 7, 2020 at 18:56
Hi Simon!
Thanks for all your wonderful help here!
I have case number 2020EU00034xxx and I just noticed that I have won the lottery, I forgot to check the results in May 2019.
Is it too late for me to complete my DS-260 and get an interview before the deadline?
Thank you!
January 7, 2020 at 22:30
No, not too late. Read the FAQ and follow the guide linked at the top of this page.
January 7, 2020 at 23:12
Just completed ds-260 and your FAQ was really helpful, thank you!
January 7, 2020 at 23:36

January 8, 2020 at 07:59
Hello Brit
I’m from nepal
As on interview date my visa was approved and consular officer also gave
visa approved card. Consular officer put my spouse case under
administrative process and requested to submit additional evidence relating
to our marriage. We had already submitted requested documents at
Bank on December 04 2019.
We are not able to get any response from consular section, how much
additional time we need to wait to get response from Consular Section?
Is there any case related re interview???
Please help me out???
January 8, 2020 at 17:21
Every case is different. I have no way to predict how long your case will stay in AP.
January 8, 2020 at 09:05
Once I become a derivative of my wife’s application I have to meet the job / education requirements too correct? I did not finish highschool and went straight to vocational course and finished Diploma (done 3 years worth) However I believe it is not qualified as well. I am currently working as a Hardware Specialist for a GPS Telematics Company for almost 2 years now. However, I don’t know which category this one falls on. If i choose Computer Occupations (Others) 15-1199.00 I believe that is not qualified as it does not have SVP Range. If I choose 17-2061.00 – Computer Hardware Engineers I will be qualified. What proof do I need to provide on the interview? I am not sure if I do fall on this category but I do work mostly hardware related eg. Hardware Provisioning / Testing / Diagnostics for GPS Asset Tracking / Telematics (black box for vehicles and plant equipments)
January 8, 2020 at 17:08
Derivatives do not have to meet the education/work experience requirements.
January 8, 2020 at 23:05
Thats good to know, I thought they mentioned “all applicants” if she includes me on her ds260 doesnt that make me applicant 2? thus needing requirements? or just the financial requirement only?
January 9, 2020 at 01:01
No you are not an applicant in that context. Only the winner.
January 8, 2020 at 13:22
Hello Sir. Hope you are ok. Iam EU41***. A sort of high number. I have sent scanned documents to kcc like they told me and i have recieved automatic answer directly. The problem is now we are 7 weeks from the email and never had another email telling me documents are ok. so i don’t know what to do. Should I email kcc or wait? Thanks in advance.
January 8, 2020 at 17:06
Your number means you have to wait several months anyway – so… wait.

Hi Britsimon,
I have just submitted my ds260 and the further required document to kcc.
1. Just wondering if both ds260 and the document will be processed synchronously, or i have to wait longer than 3-6 weeks since it may take some more time for kcc to review the ds260 first? I assume all my input and documents are correct.
2. My case number should become current in the next bulletin. Do you think if I can catch up the interview in March?
Thanks

1. I don’t know.
2. No.

Thanks Britsimon. I have been asked by kcc to provide further documents before and the email was received in early October. Right after the submission of ds260 and required documents, I also got auto-reply that they have received. What should I do next and is there anything I should worry

Exercise some patience.

Dear Brit,

DS submitted : JUL 2019
Documents Submitted: Nov 2019
First of all thank you for your support.
I have sent a email to KCC asking if they are satisfy with the documents,
they reply that the documents are still processing.
I kindly ask is there any possibility to receive 2Nl this month?
Regards

HEY BRIT HOW YOU DOING, HOPE YOU ARE DOING GOOD. MY QUESTION IS THAT MY CASE NUMBER IS ABOUT 16K I SENT REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IN OCTOBER 22, BUT STILL NOW I DIDN’T RECEIVE ANY EMAIL FROM KCC AND 2NL AS WELL, I CHECKED OUT MY STATUS AT THE ENTRANT STATUS CHECK AND STILL SAYS “YOU HAVE BEEN RANDOMLY…” ALSO I KNEW A GUY WHICH HAS HIGHER CASE NUMBER THAN ME WHICH GETS AN EMAIL FROM KCC AND 2NL AS WELL. SO BRIT WHAT SHOULD I HAVE TO DO ?
I HAVE MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE DOCUMENTS AND DS260 HAS BEEN CORRECTLY SENT TO KCC.

Contact KCC and ask if they are satisfied with the documents.
January 9, 2020 at 04:58
Okay. But idon’t have any idea that what kind of email can i send.
Can you give me a sample email please ?
January 9, 2020 at 18:35
No I don’t have a sample. Use some common sense.

Do I have a change to have interview or no?

Possibly. I really cannot predict with certainty.

Morning Simon,
I have checked the chart which is provided by CECA, regarding Asia I found out that 5,877 cases already interviewed out of 9,053 cases which means only 3,176 cases is remaining, according to that if we divide 3176/7 months almost monthly they will pick 450 cases only, and according to my study the coming visa bulletin will show the following:
Jan 13,379
Feb 15312
March 18500
April 21600
May 25000
June 28000
July 31500
Do you find my study reasonable?
Thanks
January 9, 2020 at 18:32
No.
First, you misunderstand that 5877 have been interviewed. Not all the cases current have been scheduled, let alone interviewed. There are cases from lower case number ranges which will be interviewed each month for the remainder of the year.
Second you misunderstand how cases are scheduled. They don’t divide up the cases over the months remaining as you think.
Third, In Asia it is more likely that they make the region current fairly early, and let the maturation of DS260/documents submitted control interviews for the remaining months.

Thanks for clarifying

Hi Brit! I am from AS region and I am currently filling DS-260. There are two separated questions about the countries/regions I have been during the last 5 years (US and others countries). I couldn’t find Guam in the column of other countries and should I count it as one of the visits to the US?

Yes

Hi Brit, a quick question. Since I logged as applicant when filling DS, I selected ‘No’ in preparer part for my spouse DS. I realize I had to check ‘Yes’ and provide my relationship as the one who assisted in filling the form. Is it sth I should unlock the DS and correct now?
Thank you
January 9, 2020 at 18:38
No. That is trivial.

Hi Brit a friend of mine after filling the ds260 submitted it in the first week of June but till now no response from kcc for document. But talking to him he submitted it before turning 26 on 28 of June the same month. My question is,
1. Is it because he didnot follow the rules concerning 26 years and below.
2. If yes should he go back and do that?
3. Or he should contact kcc
January 9, 2020 at 18:39
1. No. The form will not allow submission unless he did what was necessary.
2. No
3. It’s a pointless question unless you give the region/case number

Hi Mr. Simon
Hope all is well
2020AS8XXX
My interview have been scheduled on the first week of February.
My passport due expire on July 2020, I am about to get the medical exams next week.
1- shall I attend the medical exam with the above mentioned passport or I must renew it?
Thank you
January 9, 2020 at 18:40
1. If you can apply for a new passport without surrendering the old one, do that, then take both passports to the interview.
